Following..... Arrived late for this class

My suggestion will be something is a maintenance item. High turnover. Something that people who don't need it now may think of stocking up on; oil, oil filter, air cleaner element, cabin filter, spark plugs etc. Wiper blades also meet this category....even though I know many people including my humble self use the type that goes with the rainy season . The ones sold in traffic for few shillings!

I've changed my master key (the metal part broke off) I cut the new one but transplanted the chip. Best of luck

1. I know how to check ball joints wella bro. If you buy OEM ball joints then I must say ur statement is very correct. Honda maintenance schedule for Baby boy specifically said u should inspect suspension, CV joints, ball joints etc. every 6 months for severe driving conditions and 12 months for normal driving conditions. This same interval is when u use for oil change under both conditions.

2. However, most people in Naija buy foreign used ball joints for Honda and you can never fully ascertain the true condition of them. I know part dealers who kit ball joints in Ebutemetta and I can confidently tell u that their life span varies. The reasons for this variations is simply because some of these spare parts dealers sell already poor quality ball joints and claim it to be okay. The duration of these used ball joints also depends on driving habits. In my own rugged driving habits, I change them at 6 months interval and maximum at 8 months. Ball joints are cheap bro, Just 2k for one ( Honda baby boy). In other words, With your own method of checking Ball joints during oil change , It will be risky to do so bro. The interval before oil change can mess u up. Prevention is better than cure.
3. Finally Radautoworks/Carquest is here in Nigeria to give us OEM spare parts. I am considering buying stuffs from them. That's far better than all these used parts we always buy.

Its great you already check yours. My statement was really about the man that you said buys new OEM ball joints and replaces them every 2 years. I changed my ball joints about 3years ago (1st time ball joints were changed) with brand new OEM ball joints...cost me about 72k or so at the time ( bought from a Honda dealership in the US). Can't imagine spending something like that every 2 years. Truth is that I have only checked the ball joint once in 3 years and it was because I wanted to do a blog post. I don't expect any problems for the next 5years or so. Even if it does come there are very clear signs of a failing ball joint. Will only replace if I have those signs; same reason I replaced the first time.

Although I do not know much about CIVIC ball joints but I Will have no fear if i want to buy it. I have been driving Honda for the past 4 years and never had any reason to fear the legs. However I take extra precautions when it comes to ball joints, I replace my ball joints every 8 months (with tokunbo ones) and they are very cheap. I know of a man who buys new OEM ball joint and replaces it every 2 years. It is simply all about preventive maintenance.

Your friend is wasting money! All you need to do is check your ball joints regulary (say every oil change interval). It's a simple a process and something you can do if your kazeem doesn't know how. I did a video on my blog/youtube channel on how to check ball joints. I would have posted the link here but the last time I posted a link on NL I got banned.

I like the guy because he had a listening ear and doesn't have the "oga you go teach me my work" attitude.

Thanks a lot. These may be a bit over what I want price wise. Maybe I'll just plan to pick it up on my next trip. The bushing I want to replace has just shown early signs of failure.

Is this dash from the 2013 Benz? Pleasantly surprised because all Mercedes that I have seen feature the classic yellow dials and this dash is a bit bland for a 2013 coupe Benz. If I am wrong, I don learn one thing today

I also have a cigarette lighter operated pump and a Michelin tyre guage (both equipment have same readings). I also have a mobile jump-start thingy but don't take it around in my car; at least for now. My fear is that naija heat will compromise the longevity of the battery. When my current battery starts showing signs of weakness, I will shove the thing in my glove box.

Havent had a car that has such tire pressure display. Just the bland TPMS sign.

All the 3 R's have their place. Personally, I favor rebuilds ; cost is not a major factor, but that's me. I also respect another who will choose to replace. Both parties will agree that there's a whole lot of irresponsible engine replacements going on. Including heavy kazimization e.g. a peugeot engine in a Nissan and the lot
I am sure that some people have had engines replaced for simple fixes such as a blocked PCV valve. I think it was Egunmogaji that talked about a friend that rebuilt an engine because of wrong use of a compression gauge.
At the end of the day, take home message is the need to be methodical and thorough about which ever decision is reached and ensure all options are laid before the client for an informed decision.

Yes was using holt before and working fine. No issues until recently that it starts to delay before it shift from one to two dear. From two to three to four and five shifts smoothly and runs fine. Just the delay shift and jerks from one to two that is the issue. Have even changed the gear switches today yet same issue.

Quite unfortunate to have used the holt on a Honda transmission. Honda automatic transmissions strictly call for dw-1 to prevent damage to the transmission. Risk of damage will depend on how long the wrong fluid was used. If a temporal substitution a x3 drain and fill will be recommended. But at this point you should start by changing your technician. You need a professional Tyranny Tech (not self-acclaimed wizards) for an on-the-ground assessment.

Hello Honda experts. Iam still on my 05 crv delay gear engagement and jerks when changing from gear one to two. I have cleaned the gear switches both second and third gear and tested OK by the mechanic. I have also changed the oil to dw1 still no result. Pls what else can I do pop. I Don tire oooo. Pls help ur brother.

Does this happen everytime? From your post, it seems you've been using ATF other than DW-1

The fear here is bad kits, high labor hours and like Piyke said all the extra tools. It's simply not worth it when we have replacements with warranties for cheap. Just the way it is in the USA. It's worth it for trannies but not power steering. The labor hours would be kinda ridiculous in a country with expensive labor.

I totally understand this not being done in the west by shops. It's like trying to use a cobbler in the UK to repair a shoe...most times the bill will buy another shoe (except if you have a really expensive one). That said, for the able DIYer it's a viable option especially since OEM pumps could be well over $300 (no shipping fees) and the other option being a toks PS pump you can't vouch for. From my experience with the Edelmann kit, they are quite good and are mostly around $20 or under. Will also consider rebuilding my steering gear if need be for the same reasons above.
