The bold part can only come from a banker, TSA is wrong because the government decided to remove its funds from the banks abi?
What has the banks contributed to manufacturing since being in charge of the funds?
You forget that banks are private businesses why should government funds be there in the first place? Abi na only banks dey do business in Nigeria? Don't you think that Ibeto and Dangote deserve to have government funds too?
Banks should devise modalities to attract idle funds not depending on the governmnet, there is no country in the world where Government funds make money for banks while the real sectors decay, you guys should grow up and do real banking not whining about awoof money.
You don't cut your nose to spite your face.

The ability of banks to create credit is extremely vital to economic growth.
Look at how the Bank of Japan, the European Central Bank, the US Federal Reserve, Bank of England, etc, etc, pump unlimited liquidity into their banking systems on a monthly basis to stimulate economic growth.

Pulling N3tr from the banking system at period of economic weakness was nothing but suiciding the economy to fight corruption.

It's like applying a jackhammer to your Scrotum to fight off a pesky fly. grin

That's not true.
The female poets may not be that popular like the men, but there are quite a number of them. At least I have about 3 of them as friends on the most popular social media hub. But we are talking about poetry in Islam and not Islamic female poets.

Just incase you're not satisfied with what I am saying and would want to argue further, here is a piece of poem by a Muslim lady, her name is Jenne Zaghloul (a Convert) and her poem is tagged "I am a Muslim Woman"

I am a Muslim woman
Feel free to ask me why
When I walk,
I walk with dignity
When I speak
I do not lie

I am a Muslim woman
Not all of me you'll see
But what you should appreciate
Is that the choice I make is free

I'm not plagued with depression
I'm neither cheated nor abused
I don't envy other women
And I'm certainly not confused

Note, I speak perfect English
Et un petit peu de Francais aussi
I'm majoring in Linguistics
So you need not speak slowly

I run my own small business
Every cent I earn is mine
I drive my Chevy to school & work
And no, that's not a crime!

You often stare as I walk by
You don't understand my veil
But peace and power I have found
As I am equal to any male!

I am a Muslim woman
So please don't pity me
For God has guided me to truth
And now I'm finally free!

There are countless of them, just because you don't know one does not mean they don't exist.

Even little Malana (I hope she forgives me for calling her that) writes and speak poetry (though I can't find any now, not as if all poetry are written).

Lastly, the religion is not aversive, just that they are mostly conservative. Permit me to ask, have you listened to there songs or you are just basking on your perception about them?

Exactly my point, poetry strictly for the exaltation of religious doctrine is less than poetry.

Show me an Islamic poem or music or art about love, about the beauty of nature.

Poetry, music and art are about imagination and FREE , unrestricted expression.
Anything less than that is neither poetry, music nor art.

Politics › Re: Is Jonathan Or Buhari To Blame For Poor Economy? by plaetton:
May I remind everyone once again that OBJ inherited $3b in reserves, oil price in the teens, $38b in external DEBT, a highly corrupted and polarized military, and a politically and ethnically polarized nation in 1999.

What did he do?
He quickly assembled the best brains he could summon, not his cousins and in-laws, and went to work to lay the foundations for the economic reversals and growth that we sustained til 2015.

Did OBJ make many mistakes?
Sure he did. That comes with the territory.

Yaradua and GEJ continued with the foundations that OBJ laid and set Nigeria on an economic trajectory never in a generation.

No country foresaw the collapse of oil. During the GEJ era, States fought for more money from the federation account, and spent more.

GEJ spent good money on notable CAPITAL projects, education, agriculture, power, rail etc.

To look back and say that he should have kept the money instead of investing in capital projects is very dumb and disingenuous.

This government is a bundle of contradictions.
Even Kemi Adeosun had earlier lamented that country's debt to GDP ratio was too low, because, she asserted, the previous government didn't borrow enough.

One moment you blame the previous government for not borrowing enough to fund capital projects, then with the other side of your mouth you blame them for not saving enough. huh

For Pete's sake, they saved $30b, funded the beggarly State governments, and still shied away from excessive borrowing.

Should I remind everyone again that same governors who are now in this present government sued the federal government under GEJ to stop from establishing a sovereign wealth fund ? huh
Have we forgotten so soon?

Besides all these, had Buhari and his APC known that oil revenues were going to be this bad, what would they have done in hindsight? huh
Abstain from contesting the 2015 elections for fear of being saddled with the enormous RESPONSIBILITIES ?

Leadership 101: TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY.

Not true Sir.

Publicly, they denounce negotiations with terrorists and enemies, but discreetly, they do, especially when there's something to gain.

In fact, negotiating with the enemy gives the government time, flexibility and valuable intelligence in infiltrating, destabilizing and ultimately defeating the enemy.

How could there be technology transfer when our government allows oil companies allows oil companies to bring in medium level engineers and management staff from the Philippines and other places, instead of training available Nigerians for the work ?

The government has sooo much to do to re-engineer our entire economy.

That measure is usually taken when inflation is caused by an overheating economy.
What we have now is the opposite, a comatose economy, where there is actually very little money floating in the system.

What we have right now is a rare case of STAGFLATION, inflation in a stagnant economic environment.

My opinion is that this STAGFLATION was caused or at the least, exacerbated by the wrong headed TSA implementation.
Therefore, any additional Moping of liquidity in this economy would make Venezuela look like a paradise.

Islam is not against poetry, infact I have friends in Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia who are great poets one of them even teaches in a college at Istanbul.

Last year I read a poem by one dude from Damascus (unfortunately he was killed this year by ISIS fighters in Syria) and it was dope! I don't think Islam forbids poetry or critical writing.

Someone mentioned (Plaetton) here that the Judeo- Christian are against poetry even though he didn't explain just like the way I wanted Seun to explain why a religion would be against such a marvellous thing that speaks the voice of one's heart, but I have taken it upon myself to research on it.

On one of the poetry forums I belong to, the Muslim are amongst the best poet, need I say the Indians and Pakistanis are arguably better poet's than the Englishman. I guess that explains why their songs, movies and culture revolves around it while the Pakistanis are just superb in their delivery.

Even Maclatunji loves poetry even though he's too shy to write for us to read. grin

Poetry that only exalts a religious belief is far from being poetry.
Real poetry is rich in free expression, not restricted to religious praise or exaltation of doctrines.

To prove my point, kindly name one female Islamic poet that you know or have heard of.

Even the so-called Islamic art is completely devoid of life and soul.
How could it, when Islam is aversive to love, merriment and joy ?

What I mean is that that idea is actually people's interpretation of what they do not understand. And it has been accepted as truth. Many people are either lazy or afraid to probe it. GOD did not make man superior to woman. Man and woman are of one specie of being. That things are done for order to exist does not mean that I'm superior to you. On judgment day, everybody will be judged same. So I'm saying that it's not GOD's idea but human interpretation that man is superior thisthat as you pointed out in the post. Thanks.
If something is always always prone to misinterpretation and abuse, then it is obviously flawed.

Do you know the main thing that is wrong with religion ?

It is not grounded on reality, but on myths and fantasies.

What I am saying is that temporary control does not give you ownership or changes the very unique historical inheritance of the city of David.
Let me ask you a simple question.
And please answer it honestly.

Using modern scientific tools, if you to trace your own ancestry down to the last 3800 yrs, and your trace lands you in the middle of the biggest gold deposits in Ghana or diamond deposits in Liberia or rich fertile lands in the Congo, would claim a legitimate right of return as the original owners or inhabitants of any of the above mentioned lands?

Do you get my drift?

At the end of the day, you see that your arguments, your position on this issue is based or greatly influenced by Religious sentiments, and nothing else.

I watched Benjamin Netanyahu trace his heritage 2000 years to Jerusalem city of David a city 3800 years old.
This is both very hilarious and ignorant( again, no disrespect to you intended).

Natanyahu is a fanatical Zionist, a psychopath, and a war criminal.
So, citing Natanyahu as a historical authority on Palestine is very very laughable.

First of all , my brother, the Bible is not history. Once you understand that, then you might see the issue from a different perspective.

The Israeli government has been digging up everywhere for more than 50 yrs, desperately looking for a historical or archeological link, or proof of ancestry, a historical Certificate Of Occupancy( C of O) to justify their continued illegal occupation of Palestinian lands, all with no success.

Every historical claim has one after another turned out to be archaeologically bogus.
Every now and then they make spurious claims of finding this or that artifact that links them to king David, king Solomon, etc. But when put through critical archeological analysis, such claims always tend to show no scientific and historical basis.

Here are the FACTS:

Till date, there has been Zero historical and archeological proof that the so-called kingdoms of David and Solomon ever existed.
I know this may shock you.

The ancient Hebrews were no more than few thousand moving tent dwellers who left ZERO historical and archeological proof that they settled anywhere for any extended period of time, talkless of building a sprawling empire.
This is not merely my opinion.
There just isn't any proof.

Archeological excavations throughout Israel have tended to reveal the presence of Canaanite tribes that occupied the areas at different eras.
No sign of Hebrew culture.

And yes, the city of Jerusalem has changed hands many times over the last 1000yrs.
How does that prove ownership in favor of the Jews.

Even in the Bible, the ancient Hebrews supposedly went on a genocidal org.y to drive away the inhabitants of the areas they occupied. Does that confer ownership to them ? If so, then whoever eventually drove them out Should also be the legitimate claimants to the lands in question.

What's good for the geese is also good for the gander.

I will remind you that this oldest of conflicts at the center of the world predates Nigeria and even all our great great great grandparents.
This is grossly false.
Funny enough, it is only amongst Africans that I hear this type of rubbish( no disrespect intended).

This conflict started with the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, has escalated in recent times by the illegal seizures of land and houses from Palestinians in order to build settlements for the so-called returning Jews from Eastern Europe.

Contrary to what most Nigerians ignorantly think, the conflict is not a religious conflict, but a simple land theft or occupation.

Having said that, Israel is there to stay for ever. It is in their best interest for a peaceful resolution that includes the creation of a separate Palestinian state. You can't keep people in an open air prison for ever.

The black race, the African people , have been the recipients of the worst forms of injustice in human history.
We have been enslaved, bought and sold as merchandise, we have been colonized, our lands and resources balkanized, we have been neocolonialized, suffered segregation, discrimination, been culturally genocided, and the list goes on.

We , as a people, should always be the first to stand with oppressed people in any part of the world.
We , of all the races, should empathize with occupied and oppressed people anywhere in the world.
