What a shame.
A man like Wole Soyinka, who has spent a lifetime fighting tyrants and despots, now hobnobbing with an unrepentant tyrant, bigot, nepotistist- in- chief and budding despot.
Men without principles.
Watch him sing a predictable tune afterwards. |

#Hehehehehe
Keep defending a man that his scurrying about trying to prevent his guilt from being exposed to the maximum. If you could use the better part of your thinking faculty, you would realize that every former leader looks back at things they could have done differently. I have no doubts that GEJ would look back at things he could have done differently. It is only a person whose personality borders on imbecility, a psychopath, that would get a chance at leadership twice in his lifetime, and take it on with the same failed mindset, the same failed attitude, the same failed expired medicines, even after 30yrs idleness, without learning a single thing. As the months roll by and this land becomes more desolate, I look forward to reading about more excuses and more blames from you and the rest of the army of paid e-zombies. |

You feel sooooo embarrassed by the less than dullard performance of your Messiah, whose fake medicines have long expired, that on a daily basis, you have a compulsion to blame a government that left office 15 months ago. What a great shame. I'm having a lot of fun laughing at you, because, in another 15 months, you'll still be blaming GEJ. This, of course, clearly shows that neither you nor your pretended Messiah understand anything about leadership and taking responsibility. |

If the founding fathers of USA were such devoted Christians, they wouldn't have been smart enough to separate the Church from the State. If all of the USA , at her founding, had as many churches as Ikeja, the USA would have been much a basket case nation today as Nigeria is. Nigeria is the way it is today because of the way the we THINK. Religious beliefs and doctrines influences ,and in many cases , determines the way people THINK. Therefore, religious beliefs determine how people determine their place in reality , and how they confront reality. The Western nations have VERY GOOD REASONS for keeping religious bullshytes from their public academic curriculums. Gees! What REASONS could those be ? Ishilove: The USA for a start.

baresywood: *Why most States can't pay salaries of workers and the many ills of our economy.* THIS IS AN ASSESSMENT ON AN INSTITUTION WITH ALL POLITICAL PARTIES. *NOT A DISCUSSION ON ANY POLITICAL PARTY.*
21 senators currently receive pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors.
The current senators who once served as governors are *Bukola Saraki* of Kwara, *Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso* of Kano, *Kabiru Gaya* of Kano, *Godswill Akpabio* of Akwa Ibom, *Theodore Orji* of Abia, *Abdullahi Adamu* of Nasarawa, *Sam Egwu* of Ebonyi, *Shaaba Lafiagi* of Kwara, *Joshua Dariye* of Plateau *Jonah Jang* of Plateau, *Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko* of Sokoto, *Ahmed Sani Yarima* of Zamfara, *Danjuma Goje* of Gombe, *Bukar Abba Ibrahim* of Yobe, *Adamu Aliero* of Kebbi, *George Akume* of Benue and *Isiaka Adeleke* of Osun.
*The former deputy governors in the Senate* are *Ms Biodun Olujimi* of Ekiti and *Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe* of Abia. *Danladi Abubakar Sani* served as the acting governor of Taraba state.
Many *former governors* are also in Buhari's Cabinet as Ministers. This includes: *Ngige, Fayemi, Amaechi and Fashola (SAN)*
In Akwa Ibom State, the law provides that ex governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and a utility vehicle every four years; one personal aide; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5 million per month and N2.5 million for his deputy governor.
In Rivers, the law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for the former governor “anywhere of his choice in Nigeria”; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years.
It is alledged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at N500 million in Lagos and N700 million in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years; a furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a N30 million pension annually for life.
This is the reality for all the 21 ex govenors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex governors who are now serving as Ministers.
NOW I ASK: How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to these *bogus and mind bugling* pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be so outrageous? Do they have two heads? A man puts in 35years of his life in service, he ends up with a fraction of his earnings as pension. Some politician does 8years and for life he doesn't have to work again.
As if that is not enough: HOW on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria?
IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE......
Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, *you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office.* This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like former Senate President *David Mark.* Yet these senators are in the Senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. *A senator pockets approximately 30 million naira monthly as salary and allowances.* Our so called *"honourables"* are *NOT* interested in making laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating States/Regions to save the country from sectional agitations that is threatening to destroy Nigeria. Why should they? They are feeding fat the way things are now. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, and ethnic affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us.
Do you know that it costs tax payers *290m Naira yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly* in a country where nothing works & 80% of the population earn below 300 Naira a day? A *working day earning* of a senator is MORE than a yearly income of a doctor; it's more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US president or 9times the salary of US congressmen.
Please say NO to this looting of Nigeria in the name of democracy by sending this text to at least 5 others.
*I believe this country must have a referendum on salaries of all our law makers.* This must happen very quickly Thank you very much. This is an unsustainable system. When APC promised change, we all thought they would quickly dismantle this unsustainable system, but alas, nothing has changed, except the daily lies of their spokesmen. If you think you have mouth and can say whatever you want, learn to respect men of integrity especially Pastor Kumuyi! Religious fraudsters steal more from the masses. The fact that these types are worshipped and held in lofty esteemed is exactly my point: why we are basket case nation. As man thinketh, so he lives. As a nation thinketh, so they live. Without this same religion, where would you all be today?? Answer me?
All nations PRAY, repeat after me sir, ALL NATIONS PRAY! Acidosis, I remember a very memorable quote of yours. The one in which you wrote " Common sense is your enemy " ( when it comes to religion) . With that quote in mind, I see clearly where you're coming from. Now, back to the issue. In every nation, there are always a small minority of people who exist and live on the fringes of lunacy. These are not policy makers nor people who influence the direction of national policies. Joel Olstein, T.J Jakes, Benny Hinn, Crefto Dollar, etc, are the similar set of charlatans that feed fat on the people on these fringes. Now, here is the problem. In Nigeria, the far majority of the population are beholden to magical thinking, and are permanently stationed on the fringes of lunacy. For charlatans like Kumuyi and Oyedepo, these are inexhaustible resources to mine and exploit for huge profits. In the countries that you mentioned above, men and women whose worldviews are anchored on magical thinking are not allowed to filter through their systems and occupy positions where they make decisions that affect the entire populations. Aside from being daylight money fraudsters, these two men spread a horrible mental disease that takes many many generations to cure. |

Family › Re: Why Is It That Nigerians Abroad Hardly Marry Nigerian Ladies Over There? by plaetton: 1:53pm On Aug 07, 2016 |
plaetton: Spot on.
We all forget that there are things, evolutionarily honed character traits that make men different from women and which cements the social order.
Whereas men and women are and should be equal as human beings, they are not equal in social character traits.
Since the beginning, it's been not just a tradition, but an evolutionarily honed trait for women to marry up and men to marry down.
Call it insecurity, a complex or whatever you want to call it, the bottom line is that a man's ( African, Asian, middle Eastern, or white European) psyche is not hardwired for co-equal long term relationships with women.
Therefore, marrying a co-equal is a form of self-emasculation that modern society imposes on men.
And the consequences? High divorce rates in the West.
So, whether a lady has a great job, her one money, masters or PhD, makes no difference to African men still relish the old hierarchy where the man lies on top and the woman compliments him with her own feminine strengths right below.
Feminity is still a woman's greatest strength.
I find most African women abroad ditch their feminity for masculine attributes, calling themselves " strong women ".
The idea of intimacy and co-habitation with a " strong woman" is very unappealing to many men, Africans and non Africans .
So , at the end of the day, it is simple evolutionary biology at work, that make men, in this particular case, Nigerian men, seek humbler, home-bred women as lifemates. And lest I forget too is the question of simple statistics. Back home in Nigeria, there is far greater variety of women to choose from that meets a man's dreams or values than in any city abroad. Therefore, a man has a far greater choice of meeting or hooking up a lady that meets his requirements like ethnicity, education, family background, social status, etc. For example, if a man abroad is looking to settle down with an Igbo lady, preferably in the age range of 25-35, who also must be attractive, university educated, sane , humble and good character, from a decent family , then he is looking at a shrinking pool, because, the statistical probability of meeting a lady in that pool who is also looking for him is lower the further he moves from his home base. In his hometown alone, he has a greater pool of women than in the entire city of London would offer him. |

toshmann: I agree. The ones in Nigeria are more spoilt. Easy money can get them laid unlike girls abroad. But the hirks abroad dont take no shit from guys. And unfortunately, men dont like marrying competetors but companions.
