Politics › Re: NA Bombardment In SW,FACTS and the position of the igbos. by plaetton: 1:43pm On Jul 31, 2016
Thewrath:
Firstly,as usual,I am responsible for how I write and not how you understand or interpret.

Why are there no pics yet?
We all know the Nigerian army and pictures are like bread and butter, they have pictures of killed boko haram terrorists, the Shiite Muslims killed during during protest and more.so why are there no pictures yet of the 114 and over another 100 militants killed during the air strikes?

There is only one possible reason I can think of why there are no pictures yet:
-it's obvious(in Emmanuella's voice)that Nigeria army have as usual gone to kill/displace innocent yorubas and other inhabitants of these communities, and are ashamed to upload pics.i know civilians always get caught in crossfires, but in a professional operation, the damage on innocent civilians are minimal, maybe a few deaths but certainly not the majority.but I can't say thesame for our NA.

Misconceptions of yoruba youths:
I actually do not support the activities of the militants, but I read online how these set of people boast/beat their chest about how they will deal with the militants, maybe because there is a mere commissioner assisting buhari or that a yoruba general ordered the air strikes or that they voted for change....make no mistake, buhari will not bait an eyelid to turn Lagos into a war zone as long as oil is involved, not even even osibanjo,or your obas can or will be able to do anything about it.my advice is pray and hope the militants give up,stop beating your chest, your people are dying.

The position of the igbos
This particular is just funny,I don't know about the opinion if my brothers in SE,but I will attempt speak for myself and others in SS.
Firstly:
-Whose land is the battlefield-yoruba's
-Whose land is being polluted-yoruba's
-Whose people are being killed/displaced-yorubas.
-Who is going to suffer military presence/intimidation-yorubas.
-Whose economic activities will be crumbled-yorubas.
-Who would be used as target practice-yorubas.
are the militants igbos-No
are the helicopters,guns,pipelines,igbos?-No
And many many more....

So why in the midst of crisis in your own land, you still find a way to drag the igbos in,they have absolutely nothing to loose...it's a win-win for the igbos, the average Igboman does not give a hoot what happens outside igboland,he may still not care even if it happens in igboland but doesn't affect his business.
so why will the igbos be pained/worried that you are fighting militancy when they have a much bigger problem to deal with.

When you guyz were rejoicing during the killing of unarmed biafra protesters,I bet you did not know a day like this will come when your supposed peaceful land will be turned into a war zone.well you shouldn't be surprised when others return the favour.
I advice you focus on getting rid of these militants and leave the igbos out of your miseries.
I am still trying to figure out how Igbos have been dragged into this. shocked

Igbophobia is a real mental disease, an epidemic of sorts.

Cognitive dissonance will not allow them to think that far.

In as much we Nigerians have been begging law enforcement agencies to flush out the criminal miscreants terrorizing Arepo and Ikorodu, a tactical special forces unit would have done a much cleaner job of neutralizing them than dropping bombs into a civilian community.

This is tantamount to a war crime if innocent civilians are among casualties.
Politics › Re: OPC To Give Protective Service In Ijegun by plaetton:
HungerBAD:
I mean, this is a good move by the OPC.

The plan of the OPC is to protect, and not destroy their land. The Militants in the Niger Delta, are destroying their own lands, and his is why i support this move by the OPC.

So let us talk about these militants.

The Militants in the West are a product of two worlds. They are from Ondo State, which is in the West. But, they are the Ijaws and the Itsekiri from Ondo State, and these guys are not Yoruba's, but pure Niger Deltans, who by accident of wrongful map drawing, find themselves in the Western part of Nigeria.

A typical example is Oritsefemi the Musician, who is an Itsekiri, but from Ondo State.

So, we can safely say the militants hitting the Western part of Nigeria are actually Westerners, and so the OPC should be ready to fight against their own brothers.

Lastly, kudos goes to the Nigerian Military for the flushing out, bombing and killing of these militants.
Pls kindly tell us how exactly did the Nigerian military know who were the militants, and who were innocent civilians before they dropped their b bombs on a civilian community?

Even the much sophisticated US military, with all their satellites, technology and intelligence gathering apparatus, occasionally,in fact, very often mistakenly bomb civilian targets.

Now, trusting own military who are renowned for shooting the civilians they are supposed to protect, what assurances do we have that the more than 100 people bombed to death were not all or majority civilians?

How do you bomb a supposed militant group who are imbedded amongst the civilian population that they are terrorizing ?

I emphasized money corruption because I believe that Nigeria's worse corruption is not monetary, but rather something that breeds all of that.
If baba can demote as much venom to political corruption in Nigeria, we might yet see a nirvana.
Thank you.

Corruption goes far deeper than pocketing public money. Before that, there is a corrupt state of mind that breeds stealing of public funds.

This is what GEJ was alluding to when the media misquoted him out of context by saying that stealing is not corruption.

Kannada and Canada are the same.

In French, it's Kanada.

In Native Iroquois language, it was called Kanata.

Now tell me, phonetically, what are the differences between Canada, Kannada, Kanada and Kanata ?

Etymology is the one the most accurate means of tracing cultures, migration and history.

The Bible offers us ample evidence that for the ancient Israelites, all roads lead to Egypt.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Occurrence Of Jesus In History by plaetton: 5:18pm On Jul 24, 2016
lordnicklaus:
Your history is totally wrong. Mary is actually the Anglo-Graecian variant of the Aramaic "Maryam" which is a term meaning "rebellion". The Meri-Amon you quoted is actually a compound word while "Maryam" is a single word. Amon is actually an Egyptian god who was sometimes associated with Ra and a variant of his name was Amen which is totally different from "Amen" which is a Chaldo-Hebraic term denoting "certainty." It is worth knowing that the Yoruba word "ino" which means "light" means "thief" in my native language and thus you can't be too presumptuous so as to claim that the word in my native language is actually stolen from the Yoruba version. It is clear that you have faulted in your claims. There are quite a number of similarities in phonology between different languages for example, the Yoruba word "oko" which means "husband" means "rashes" in Ibo.

You know the most annoying part of the incoherent jargon you posted? You said "Meri" was Latinized to Maria. Lie!! Before you embarass yourself and prove yourself lagged of the so-called smartness and ingenuity you claim to possess as an atheist, gain proper knowledge of Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek and Latin. Mary of the bible, in Aramaic texts of the Gospels is Maryam and in the Hebrew text, Miryam.

Of course, Pharaohs had prefixes derived from names of gods attached to their names for example, Seti-Keba, Abu Simbel, Akhenaten, this I know but to say that bible text language was dependent of such is an outrageous claim from insipid facts.........

You keep tipping history upside down. Mariam, Miriam, Mary ,whether Greco-Roman , Aramaic or hebrew,,..these are all the phonetic variations of the ancient Egyptian Meri, the original title of Isis.

In case you're ignorant of this, let me inform you that that Ancient Egypt preceded the the Greco-Roman cultures, Aramiac, Latin and Hebrew languages and cultures by thousands of years, even perhaps tens of thousands.

Almost every part of ancient Hebrew religious culture came from Egypt, especially royal hereditary and religious culture and rituals. Same as the nomenclatures.
Meri, anglicized as Mary, Latinized as Maria , Miriam in the Arabic cultures, etc, is a cultural/ religious nomenclature denoting and tracking of the Royal female bloodlines going all the way to ancient Egypt.

Then from the Latinized form, Mary was gotten. The name you gave was made up and cannot even be found in Egyptian language. /quote]

What rubbish is this ? shocked

History upside down?

Mary is an English name huh
Wtf ?

What is the difference between Meri and Mary?

Isis was the original Meri ( the beloved). She carried the sacred seed in the Egyptian matrilineal hereditary system.
In ancient Egypt, the prince must marry a Meri, usually his stepsister or female relative who carries the Pharaohnic mitochondrial DNA. This DNA is passed from mother to daughter unchanged through infinite generations.
Therefore, the Egyptians understood that the true royal Pharaohnic seed resided and protected by the female daughters of the Meri( the sacred one).
So, Meri was a title, not a name.

Just like the male pharaohs, the Meri also attached her title to the patron god of the ruling Pharaoh.
So, we find Meri-Kiba, Meri-Aten and of course, the most widely known, Meri- Ammon, from whence we get MeriAm.

So, in case you didn't know, Mariam is just an abbreviation of Meri-Ammon, beloved of Ammon or Ammen ( I am sure you remember Ammen from your Lord's prayer ) wink

The ancient Hebrews, who borrowed almost their entire religious culture from Egypt, kept this tradition by maintaining a sacred bloodline of Meri's. A prince had to marry a Meri to become a legitimate King.
We see this played out in the biblical story of Joseph marrying a Meri to produce an heir to the throne of Israel. We see the same theme in the story of Meri-Magdaline or More correctly, Meri of Magdala( the sacred virgin of Magdala) anointing the feet of Jesus ( crown prince of Israel) with sacred perfume in a sacred marriage ritual.

Meri was Latinized to Maria and latter anglicized to Mary.

Meri was the original title of sacred royal women that goes all the back to the first Meri, mother Isis, the beloved one.

Physicist:
CBN and Nigerian banks have been defrauding Nigerians remitting money home. On the other hand, the government officials in Nigeria are taking money out of Nigeria. For example, someone sends $100 from United States to his sibling in Nigeria through Moneygram. CBN and Nigerian banks pay the recipient 30,000 Naira at a rate of 300 Naira to a Dollar. The banks officials and CBN officials now sells the 100 Dollars to the black market through back door at 375 Naira to a Dollar. The officials now make 7500 Naira on 100 Dollars or 75 Naira per dollar. An estimated 20 billion dollars is officially remitted to Nigeria annually according to World Bank by Nigerian Diasporas. Therefor ethe Nigerian government, CBN officials and bank officials are making a profit of 20Billion*75 = 1.5 Trillion Naira each year from the Nigerian Diasporas. There was a time recipients in Nigeria could receive their Moneygram or WesternUnion gifts from their loved ones on Dollars. CBN and the Nigerian government cancelled the option.
What is the most annoying is that almost all the remittances back to Nigeria are done by Southerners. In short Nigerian government, CBN officials and Nigerian banks officials are making illegal and illicit money on the back of Southerners abroad to spend. CBN should allow recipients to receive money in Dollars.
You hit the nail right on the head.

It's a parasitic existence.

Did you notice that it was Soludo that made it possible for Western Union and MoneyGram recipients to receive their remittances in foreign currency?
And guess who reversed that policy in favour of First Bank? The current Emir of Kano, Sanusi.

What do you know? Naira has depreciated to about N294 from N199 in the official market meaning that every $ the FG earns is sold for N294 against N199 previously. So, for every N199 earned initially, they are now earning N294. So the naira earnings would increase even if actual earning in $ didn't.

For example, if the govt earned $2bn in the previous month, that would be N398bn while the same earning of $2bn today would be N588bn.

No, I did not miss anything and I based my post strictly on the writers misguided views and ethnic baiting sentiments.

Where is the sense and wisdom in asking why the SW is responding or not responding this or that way.

Who arrogated to the writer the right to judge or question how ethnic groups should respond to issues especially obvious National issues?

The murdered preacher remains a national and law enforcement issue, not any kind of issue to handle any other way.

The writer basically echoed the same destructive and pointless sentiments by his kind we read on NL everyday

Before telling other people what, to do or how to respond to anything, you should first show them how handling issues the way you prefer and suggested have worked for you or any society under the sun, how it progressed and developed your land and how it made you economically and politically relevant.
A discussion on Nairaland should be similar to the type of discussions I have with my friends everyday.

In fact, my very good southwest friends hVe boasted many times to me that the southwest elites are the champions of democratic struggle, social justice and the triumph of the rule law in Nigeria.
And I completely concur.

Now, tell me, what is wrong with me going back to my southwest friends and asking them what the heck is going on? Why are the southwest champions of social justice and the rule of law now on sabbatical?

Seriously, the OP basically regurgitated the same ethnic and tribe baiting ways of ibo people which Yoruba people have always sidestepped and refused to swallow, we are just not into such stupidity, foolish, thoughtless and destructive ways of thinking and self destructive resolutions which have incapacitated ibo people and other purveyors of ethnic and bigoted sentiments and emotions.

What happened to the preacher in Abuja was sad and unfortunate and even reprehensible, but this is a law enforcement issue, this is what law enforcement should be allowed to handle, this is what people do in sane and rational societies. What do we have to gain by taking the law into our own hands, acting destructive, fighting and blowing up or cities and promoting lawlessness.

MKO passed away decades ago, but should we have started endless war, destruction and anarchy in our own land, should we have destroyed what we spent decades to build just because ibo people respond to such issues with thoughtlessness, insanity, hate, bigotry, enmity and everlasting anger that's so far incapacitated the entire ibo race and prevented them from moving forward?

Our ways work for us and we don't have to be like you, we don't feed on paranoia, we don't feed on anger, we don't feed on hatred and we know when and how to handle our issues, we pick our own battles, you don't.

Before telling other people what to do or how to respond to anything, you should fist show them how handling issues the way you prefer and suggested have world for you.

Obviously, your ways never worked for you, it's been destructive, it fed you nothing but hatred, anger and bitterness which we are not.

Anger, hate and bitterness doesn't create conducive environment for peaceful coexistent like the one you enjoy in Yorubaland, it doesn't create jobs, like the jobs you troop to the SW to make a living with, it doesn't develop any society, it doesn't lead to investments like we attract in the SW than any other region in Nigeria.

The ibo writer is a know hate mongering and bigoted peddler of ethnic baits which excites only his kind...
You still miss the point.
I am sticking with the core issues of the OP, not what might be his motives.

The reason I responded is because I too have been pondering same, even debating with my close southwest friends. If we can't honestly discuss and address issues without invoking ethnic hatred, then what's the point of saying we are citizens of the same nation?

Nobody, certainly not me, is talking about or insinuating violence and bitterness.
We , I especially, am lamenting what I am Missing from the usually outspoken southwestern elites on relevant and vexing national issues.

I still can't figure out how this valid curiosity constitute ethnic baiting, disrespect or hatred towards the southwest.
This is a question that southwest youths should be asking their elders.
And many of them have already started asking.
