Buhari doesn’t work at the airports nor was he ever an Immigrations officer . It’s possible he never had any hands in his arrest . It wasn’t Fela’s first trip in and out of the country . If there was no exhibit or trace of crime, Fela would have enjoyed more support. Where there is no law, there is no sin. We are so used to celebrating lawlessness .
No one is celebrating lawlessness my friend.
Hypocrisy, Nepotism, and selective prosecution is an even greater evil to any society than the common infractions and malfeasances the average citizen commits every now and then.

Let me give an example. The average Nigerian doesn't pay taxes. I do not blame them. The government has not evolved a simple and convenient way for tax assessment and collections. Therefore, the far majority of Nigerians are tax evaders by default.
Now, a morally corrupt and tyrannical government can easily use that to selectively target and persecute citizens who oppose the government.

That act itself becomes more pernicious to the society than the simple act of tax avoidance that the majority of the citizens are guilty of by default.

Fela was obviously targeted because of his bold criticism of the government.

In the same Buhari administration, 52 suitcases belonging to an Emir, alleged to have been full of foreign currencies, went right through the same security agencies at the same airport without as much as a question.
Buhari has never been a man of any iota of integrity, and will never be.

He's just a lazy senator that lacks common sense.
All these dummys castigating Ben Bruce seem to have comprehension problems.
It simply amazes me that all you guys all seem to think in one direction only.
I wonder why it appears so difficult to understand the very very important point that he is making or trying to get across.

The issue here is not about branding, but about the actual manufacture of the jerseys. After , Nike Does NOT manufacture anything. Nike contracts the manufacturer of all their products to sweatshops in Third World (shithole) countries in Guatemala, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. A lot of Nike's products have been found to be made by child labor in slave like conditions in these countries.

The point the Ben Bruce is asking is that why shouldn't Nigerian labour, ABA manufacturing prowess to be specific, not have been considered for the manufacturer of Nigeria's official Jerseys, an enterprise that would have created jobs and $100m into our national coffers ?
Isn't such that one of the functions of a government ? To woo and encourage foreign investments , especially in an area in which we have local talent has been proven to be abundant ?
Are ABA manufacturing prowess not ripe or good enough for international manufacturing contracts from the likes of Nike and other sports wear brands ?

Isn't this where a responsible government that wants to create jobs come in and play a role ?

Ben Bruce is not criticizing Nike's branding or marketing rights. He is criticizing all of us, all Nigerians , our small mentality, our inability to think beyond the periphery.

PoliticsRe: Inside Nigerias Foreign Reserves. by plaetton:
Okoroawusa:
How did OBJ grow it and how did GEJ deplete it?

Explain Mr Economist
First and foremost, remove this notion that GEJ depleted the foreign reserves. That was just an APC propaganda talking point. It obviously resonated and still resonates well with unthinking Zombies. That's why they are call Zombies.
The foreign reserves went down from its peak during the OBJ era to slightly shy of $30b when GEJ left office. In the case of GEJ, almost $7b of that was raw cash in the form of excess crude oil account ( ECA).
That hardly be described as a depletion.

OBJ grew the foreign reserves in many different ways.
First, rising oil prices meant more earnings and more reserves.
Secondly and most importantly, OBJ first renegotiated, then rescheduled and eventually got rid of $38b of foreign debt.
With $38b off our necks, and no multi-billion dollar interest payments and penalties, Nigeria was free to keep much of its foreign exchange earnings.

In the case of GEJ, rising crude Oil prices also meant rising revenues and reserves. But also meant commensurately rising cost of fuel subsidy payments.
GEJ was also prosecuting a very costly full fledged war against Boko Haram . The other tiers of government, the states and local governments, also demanded and got a commensurately higher allocations in line with the higher revenues.
As the economy grew year after year , so grew consumption , particularly imports, year after year. It is also worthy of note that a significant portion of the foreign reserve drawdown occurred from the transition period to the first 3 months of the Buhari administration , when Buhari scared away foreign capital with his uninformed and unguarded statements as well his intended declaration of war on Capital, as projected by his body language.
PoliticsRe: Please Who Has Benefitted From The N5,000 Stipend To Nigerians? by plaetton: 9:56am On May 29, 2018
To prove that this so-called stipends payment is scam , all you have to do is ask for the modalities for the payments.

Do government officials carry Ghana most go bags to rural villages to give cash to passersby? huh

Do the recipients line up at a local school or village square to receive the stipends ? huh

Are the recipients asked to open bank accounts to which the sums are paid into ? huh
If so, which Nigerian banks are involved in the administration of these payments ?
huh

And finally, what is the audit and verification method to show that these payments are being received by the intended people ?
Which internal or external auditors have verified these expenditures ?

Is there a national assembly committee or administrative committee in any ministry that can publish audited reports about these payments ?

If none of these questions can be reasonably answered, then it's either obvious that either Buhari is being scammed by the fraudsters surrounding him , or he himself is involved in the biggest scam of the century against the Nigerian people.
PoliticsRe: Buhari, Baru Have Made NNPC Worse: PUNCH by plaetton: 4:59pm On May 28, 2018
engineerboat:
ACCUSTOMED to meeting most of their financial obligations from their monthly share-out of the Federation Account, Nigeria’s 36 state governors were recently confronted with less-than-expected offers from the pool. Under-remittances from the state oil company and some other agencies mean less revenue for states battling rising costs, high debts, deficits and an impending election cycle. The chickens the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation hatched are coming home to roost.

The alarm raised earlier this month by the states’ commissioners of finance that expected remittance to the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation from the NNPC shifted to near-panic mode at state houses last week. Two consecutive meetings of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee – a gathering of the Minister of Finance and the states finance commissioners – ended without agreement as delegates rejected alleged under-payment by the NNPC.

Fresh confirmation of our untidy national book-keeping practices has just come from an audit report prepared by KPMG and commissioned by the National Economic Council. The report found that 18 federal revenue federating agencies withheld the sums of N526 billion and $21 billion from the Federation Account between 2010 and June 2015. NEC, chaired by the Vice-President, includes the finance minister and the state governors who are understandably livid at the continuation of a system that allows the NNPC especially, to carry on as usual.

They woke late to the posers this newspaper has been raising over the oil company’s dangerous monopoly on refined petroleum products since September; its unverified claims on volumes imported and distributed; its self-regulation; its runaway self-imposed habit of subsidising petrol, and virtual autonomy under an inattentive President who has also made himself the petroleum minister.

Now, governors are finally waking up to the dangers. They should have spotted the booby trap when the NNPC gleefully announced that it was now the sole importer of petrol after independents left the field, citing losses arising from a landing price then of N171 per litre compared to the regulated price of N145 per litre ceiling. The alarm should have been louder when, first, the NNPC said it would absorb the losses and quaintly labelled it “under-recoveries,” and, next, claimed the improbable supply figure of 55 million litres per day. A healthy scepticism would have prompted independent checks much earlier than now to safeguard public funds. Now that landing cost is N191 per litre, NNPC is heartily subsidising on our behalf while we pick up the bills.

In between, Maikanti Baru, Group Managing Director, claimed the company incurred $5.8 billion in two months. In January this year, petrol imports cost N1.4 trillion.

Improbability has given way to incredulity: governors have now taken a cue from The PUNCH in questioning the new figure of 60 million litres supplied per day and Baru’s vow to bring in 100 million litres per day for two months.

Neither Buhari nor the lazy, distracted National Assembly can run away from providing answers to the governors’ posers. Who verifies the NNPC’s import and expenditure claims? There should be a thorough investigation of the company’s operations to ascertain how much petrol comes into the country and where they go. It stretches the imagination that the neighbouring markets of Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Togo, Cameroon, Chad and Ghana can absorb the excess over the 35 million litres per day claimed by the NNPC as our national demand.

More importantly, we should stop the national folly of continuing to allow vested interests to prevent the privatisation of the NNPC’s four loss-making refineries and liberalising the oil downstream. Buhari and Baru are driving the economy that shrank to 1.95 per cent in the last quarter aground. Rather than sell them post-haste, Baru, in accordance with the retrogressive presidential fiat to make them work “at any cost,” is on a forlorn, unworkable drive to attract investors who will provide funds but will not own. Such shallow thinking and convoluted rigmarole have ensured that the refineries cannot meet local demand and continue to accumulate operating losses over the last three decades (group losses of about N546 billion in the three years to 2017). The refineries lost N82.09 billion in 2015, N78.95 billion in 2016 and a report by Bloomberg puts recent losses at the NNPC HQ and the refineries at about $500 million.

Baru’s acrobatics of wooing the original builders and others to invest in refurbishing them are not viable. As long as the NNPC remains a major player in the downstream, operators will continue to flee the local market as Chevron, Texaco, Mobil have done, leaving only the bold and influential Dangote on whose upcoming 650,000 bpd Lekki refinery lies the country’s sole hope of breaking the NNPC stranglehold.

Opaque, self-regulating and over-politicised, the NNPC’s losses pale in contrast to the strong showing of other SOEs like Norway’s Equinox (formerly Statoil), Brazil’s Petrobas and Gulf oil majors that all posted rebounds in 2017 as oil prices rallied. The world eagerly awaits the flotation of Saudi Aramco whose owner, Saudi Arabia, is reforming its economy away from oil dependency and opening up to global investors. Nigeria must follow suit.

Buhari should relinquish the petroleum resources portfolio and reconstitute the NNPC board to allow for reformers from outside the rotten NNPC system. In line with his electoral promise, Buhari should follow the advice of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna to “kill the NNPC” to make way for a new entity to emerge and meet national aspirations. A recent report that depots and pipelines that are not even fully utilised drained N174 billion reinforces why the NNPC should exit the downstream sector completely and concentrate on its core function as a holding company.

In the meantime, the parliament should launch an all-out probe into the fuel import system and the refineries. Governors should not stop at insisting on full remittance of all funds due to the CRF, they should go to court to demand their rights.

https://www.punchng.com/buhari-baru-have-made-nnpc-worse/amp/
Geesus!!
So Buhari, in his typical buffoonery, chased the independent importers of refined petroleum away , only so that he his extended family and chosen lackeys in the NNPC can be the sole importers of refined petroleum, and as is usual with everything Buhari touches, the books and figures have become opaque and unaccountable.

So what else is new ? huh

Despite the fact I don't support homosexuality, I also believe all humans should be treated with the utmost respect. The Christian scriptures does not support homophobia remembering the golden rule.

Any heterosexual who engages in sex outside marriage and thinks he is morally superior to lash out at gays is simply a hypocrite. Both are condemned in the Bible and if we were still under the Mosaic Law, both will be stoned to death. There is no partiality with God unlike the self righteous homophobes. Singling out gays is simply bullying.

However, you saying racism and homophobia are similar is just wrong. Plain wrong.

You can't change your skin colour but you have the ability to change your sexual orientation. In ancient Rome, men had young boys as sexual slaves, boys as young as 10 years and it was perfectly legal. Does that make it right? There are those disposed to sleeping with minors. Does that make it right?

We humans have a constant battle to do what is right. Even you, an atheist, has a conscience, the closest thing to a religious radar. It nags us until we do what is right.

I do feel for gays and one should. Self righteous condemnation of them is wrong or even evil.

One of my closest pals is gay. He knows my views and has come to respect them.

He once asked me what would I do if my younger brother turned out to be gay and I rejected it.

He was slightly disappointed and asked was surprised at my disapproval.

I told him I want his niece to become a Jehovah's Witness. He said I should not go there O! He teasingly told me to be careful.

So, you can see that gays discriminate too grin grin grin grin grin
I agree with most what you have said here, except for the one about one being able to change one's sexual orientation. Since the anomaly is biological, only a biochemical therapy of some sort would be theoretically possible. There is yet no known scientific research showing that it is a disease that needs curing.

Also, prejudice and discrimination, whether for racial, tribal, religilous, gender or sexual orientation is the same. It requires the same mindset, and usually the same level of ignorance.

My point has always been that as black Africans, we have been the most discriminated against , and the most maltreated race on the planet. As such, We should be more vigilant, more sensitive, more sympathetic to any human beings who are going through the same rejections, same discriminations and same prejudices that we have endured for many centuries in the hands of people wielding stone age scriptures .

The most irritating thing about you homosexual apologists is that you know the truth but embrace the lie.

Here you have just admitted that homosexuality is an anomaly and human sexuality is genetically determined and under hormonal influence. But you realize how damaging this truth can be to your argument so you subtly try to group perverts with left-handedness. Perverts because, for many homosexuals the act has no genetic basis, just a social one.
If we follow your argument that sexual deviation is a result of genetic expression gone wrong, it is logical that we should seek correction.
Stop trying to defend rubbish. Man is a specie that exhibits sexual dimorphism. Period. Male and female.
There is no 'rainbow', no spectrum.

I am all for progress, but the 'stone-age superstitions' you deride provided a framework that sustained homo sapiens for eons and ensured survival into the modern age. It does so still. Sex is important for the survival of the species. It is the reason you are alive. Your father did not rape another man in the ass. He impregnated your mother. Think about that.
Your savannah dwelling ancestors were on to something and had more sense than you. What is sinister is how people like you unashamedly push such an evil agenda.
You have said a lot here, but I am still trying to understand your point as it relates to my posts or the issue under debate.

Your use of the term ' homosexual apologists' betrays your inability to grasp what is being debated here.

What exactly do you mean by ' homosexual apologists ' ?

For centuries , the black skinned people like you and I were considered unnatural, an anomaly, less human and more beast, worthy of enslavement, deserving no humane consideration, unworthy of citizenship in a civilized society, and the promoters of these ideas used the same silly stone age scriptures and superstitions to back up their claims.

For centuries, women , being , according to same old stone age scriptures, supposedly created from the rib of a man, were considered far less human, denied property rights, bought and sold like commodities, denied voting rights, the right to work, the right to lead, the right to drive, even the right to testify in court.
It is worth noting that the same stone age superstitions were used to anchor and buttress these oppressive norms.
Likewise, something as benign as left handedness was , and is still for some people, an anomaly, and even considered evil.

Let me ask you if those that fought vigorously for the abolition of slave trade or for civil rights in the United States can be derisively called Nigger apologists by you ?
You , and people like you seem to have a learning deficiency as a result of the stone age garbage that fills your thinking faculties.

Let me repeat it again, in case you have comprehension issues.
Homosexual people are born that way.
I have given the simple biological explanation that an over abundance of female sex hormones in a man reverses the sexual orientation in such a man , and vice versa.
Although a biological anomaly, the homosexual person is simply responding to their own NATURAL impulses, the same that you and I do . No one makes conscious choice to be homosexual.
Simple.

Whatever your religious pretences are( pretence is the operative word), they are irrelevant to the biological facts.

Now, as per homosexuality being a sin, well, Is fornication not a sin too ?
Is eating shrimp not a sin ?
Is working on Saturdays not a sin ?

BTW, who died and made you god ?
Who gave you the perogative to judge the alleged sins of others ?

Should you not labour to remove the log in thine own eyes , rather than to point at the spec in the eyes of others ?

Why is hate and prejudice the most fluid and valuable currencies of middle East Religions and Stone age superstitions ?

Wrong sir.
People are born mostly heterosexual.
Sex is regulated by hormones.
Once in a while, there is a hormonal anomaly that causes imbalances in the hormones. These imbalances affect the sexual impulse by reversing the sexual orientation.
Therefore, homosexuality, just many other anatomical and physiological anomalies, like for example, left-handedness, is inborn and natural to the person.
To those of us in the far majority that are born with our sexual hormones in harmony with our anatomy, we have a tendency to see the exception to that rule as being unnatural.

I came across a thread where a guy claimed he discovered his sister is a lesbian, some of the comments on that thread got me annoyed and amused, most of the comments were "She's born that way, its natural" i know that this comment is influenced by the western world but we're not like them, we have norms, culture and a way of life, and we're supposed to be who we are.

Theres no evidence anywhere to prove that homosexuality is natural, it cannot be genetically or biologically defined, theres no gene responsible for homosexuality, and nothing about the human anatomy suggests homosexuality is natural, if you examine the male and female sex organ you'd know that it is designed to complement each other, and to reproduce, both needs to work together, therefore by design, we're supposed to be heterosexual not homosexual,

Our culture frowns at it, it is clearly unafrican, abnormal and every religion frowns at it, including christianity
Romans 1:26–27 follows this same reasoning. Paul says that men abandoned the natural sexual function of women and engaged in unnatural sex with men. His words make it clear that homosexual behavior is unnatural because it is a rejection of God’s design for sex. Homosexual desire, then, would also be unnatural for the same reason: it drives people to abandon the natural design and function of human sexuality.

No one is born gay, its a psychological and societal problem and it needs to be curtailed as soon as it is discovered.
Ignorance ignorance ignorance on parade.

OP. What exactly do you understand about human anatomy and physiology ?
I'm betting you know very little.

Have you ever heard about hormones and how they regulate body functions ?
I am betting that you know very little if anything at all.

Hormones, in case you didn't know, regulate many bodily functions.
Different hormones regulate different functions.
Insulin for example, is a hormone that regulates the amount of sugar in the body. When the amount of insulin hormone is deficient in the body , dangerous levels of sugar accumulates in the blood, a condition that we are familiar with as Diabetes. Diabetes can start from birth, early childhood or at any time during adulthood.
A variety of hormones , Testosterone, Estrogen and others, regulate sexual function, and by extension, sexual identity and orientation, some being more pronounced in males while others are more pronounced in females.

Just like most things in nature, once in a while, there occurs an anomaly, where either a male has more pronounced abundance of female hormones or a female has a more pronounced abundance of male hormones. This is what is called a hormonal imbalance.
Since these hormones regulate the sexual impulses and attraction, the hormonal imbalances create confusion in the body , engendering the sexual impulses in the wrong body.
This is what we call homosexuality. No one is sure what causes these hormonal imbalances, but such a biological anomaly is not different from the hundreds
of anatomical and physiological anomalies that occurs in nature.

It is therefore stuuuupid to say that people choose to have hormonal imbalances that affect their sexual impulses and orientation, just as it would be very stuuuupid to say that people choose to have insulin deficiency and be diabetic.

There is no greater folly and idiocy than for a person to come online to pontificate on subjects for which he or she knows so very little about, all because of silly , even contradictory religious beliefs.

Follow follow is Zombism. What comparative advantage is there in having our embassy in Jerusalem instead of Tel Aviv. Let us not forget that the few countries with their embassies in Jerusalem, U.S chiefly, are those under the spell of the envagelicals.
Don't mind these very foolish Africans.

Useless people, unable to deal with the basic existential problems in their own domains, their want to poke their dirty noses at the conflicts of other lands, conflicts of whose history they are totally ignorant of.

Bunch of hypocrites.
One day they are shouting that Buhari wants to seruptitiously Islamize Nigeria, and the next day they are trying to promote the seruptitious Christianization of Jerusalem by another religious sect.

Reno you are the greatest lier of our time, fake pastor and supporter of evil.
You shall remain jobless as long as Methuselah grin
When Reno called Osho a liar, he provided incontrovertible proof that Osho is indeed a liar.

Now, can you kindly provide us with one or few incontrovertible proofs that Reno is a liar.

If you are unable to do that, you have just succeeded in making a fool, a Zombie of yourself.
