Let me come and be going before Yariya arrives
We can agree here, knowledge of both FA and TA is desirable.

Alot of people here (Including me ) wished we followed the matrras gang since JAN. but life is a lesson .

Those who followed FA are even hoping to break even...while the matras gang comes once in a while to say E ku market ooh..

at list i know the circle of nse and what to do next.

As agba said he just wanna make money that all..same reason am here as well not ..TA..OR FA
The major problem I can see is that there are too many people who claim to understand FA but their understanding is limited and defective.

With a good knowledge of FA, anyone can do well in stock market in any part of the world.

onegentleguy:
Yes NOT fantastic, but JULIUS BERGER'S Q3 is undoubtedly a good result.
The problem is that u sometimes choose to look at a particular earnings line in isolation without a proper recourse to other core underlying determinants.
In retrospect, the EPS line alone is important, but it will not tell u the whole story.
Its best to look at all the combination of drivers of profitability, liquidity, efficiency and solvency accross all KEY revenue and earnings line.

The company has done well given where they are coming from. Earnings drive has gapped up (both QoQ & over 9M) and is very much in line to beat that of the proceeding yr. (YoY)
The N5.04 EPS is the TTM figure [(3.61-0.04) + 1.47], but that projection is feasible. How? ...Look at the PROFIT MARGIN, GROSS MARGIN, EBITDA MARGIN, and ETERPRISE VALUE.
Even at an adjusted discount figure of 15% (attaching a 13% risk free rate to a premium of 2%), Fair Value should compute as approx N34. ...which means there's a potential value gap to tap from.

However, while their result is good, there are much better companies on the bourse right now. ...there are better value and growth driven coys that one can BUY !!
But the result from JBERGER came in good. It's left for folks to decide on what they want.
Everything depends on one's personality, strategy and investment horizon.

On the part in bold, u also need to apply the same backward analytical view on ACCESS to make a better judgement. (don't get me wrong; ACCESS like I've stated here in the past is a great coy) ...I only advised for caution going forward. (particularly for long term investors)
That said, I respect ur opinion like I do with that of other folks here.

Disclosure: I currently do NOT hold a single unit in JBERGER.
Disclaimer: Due diligence is still advised as always pls.
I don't think CP is talking about TTM, I think he is just being conservative by using only profit from core operation which is N3.4b hence his EPs of N2.7.

Like I said, a fair result in my own opinion but I will like them to improve on the profits from core operation.

Note , I hold some units of JB and it is still a hold for me.

OGG/Pluto told us they were accumulating based on FA.
Fair result in my own opinion, slightly below my expectations....

Profits drop q/q and the major part of the profits are not from core business operation...

Godlylifeoneart:
Your expectation of Jb based on debt recovery from FGN is good but historically, more money, high income, increase in price of commodities has not been shown to influence prices on NSE
Take for instance, con oil is into exploration and production, since Brent skyrocketing it has not improved the share price
FBN gave out massive investors money as toxic loans to the oil industry, Now we are in the 5th to 6th month of global oil boom, tell me which Nigeria company has shown the effect of global oil increase in the last 6 monthshuh??
Taking position in JB is purely based on the current numbers and has little or nothing to do with expectation of debt recovery .

And for the record, conoil that is listed on NSE is not into exploration and production...

I now think Julius Berger will be a good buy going forward.
This snailish government will now suddenly become aggressive in clearing it's debts to JB and pushing more money for JB to maintain full speed on all projects in a bid to show they are turning Nigeria around.... grin
All govt contractors should be grateful to Atiku.
I have my serious reservations about Atiku, but he will definitely keep APC engaged.... grin

NB: This is not a buy recommendation. In addition, JB is for investors and not so good for traders. It's movements happen in the dark.
I actually think JB is a good buy at current price.
Building position gradually.....

Atiku will have my vote though I expect buhari to win.

Price rising got nothing to do with the health of the company.

As at the time when Onwuka Interbiz was DEAD, teh shares were still traded on the NSE. Remember 'Caveat Emptor' when buying any stock.
It is really surprising to me how people will blame NSE,CBN and everyone else for their misfortune in the stock market and see nothing wrong in investors buying shares of dead companies.

Really these questions hit the core of the rot existing in the whole CBN-SKYE romance. The most annoying one is why did they insinuate that they were working to release outstanding financial results? From this whole saga, shareholders are at risk from all angles:

-Risk from management of coy
-Risk from fellow shareholders
-Risk from MM
-Risk from government
-Risk from regulatory bodies.

Now the big question is why would I want to leave my money indefinitely in a stock with all these crocodiles?
Anyone that bought Skye bank share after the takeover by cbn should blame his\her self if he/she is trapped.

When central bank takes over any bank, the shareholders fund is as good as gone.

Chief,

I was only proffering a solution that will cool her down at the moment. Do you think the share price wouldn't rally again if that PP is approved. That might provide a route for her to escape. She really had double mind when she wanted to make that purchase.......
You are right sir, the price will mostly likely rally again.

Was just trying to let her see all the possibilities so she can be adequately prepared for any eventuality....

I guess you were trying to "trade" the stock and not "invest" in it. Re-adjust your mindset and believe their last result and the reported performance/earnings, for if the result is what they said it is, you haven't made a bad trade at all.

You will surely feel better and wait for when to take off.

WAITING FOR ELECTION TO BUY - Does it worth the waiting?
I have tried to study the NSE ASI price movement just before and after presidential elections in Nigeria and its effect on the market generally. But due to lack of data even from NSE (this is terrible!), I cannot really come to a conclusion.

Available data only covers the last 3 presidential election from 2007.

-2007: Before election, market was bubbling and this is the period NSE witnessed great patronage both from crooks and saints alike. So market continue the euphoria during and after the elections. Good to note is that the incumbent party (PDP) just transfer power to the same party. Similarly, the power to be then nominee won the election. So the atmosphere was good for the market.

-2011: The election took place in April, but before then the world witnessed financial crash and many countries are just getting out of this including Nigeria. However, after the election, since the incumbent party (PDP) won the election, market embrassed the news, rallied for 1 month and immediately the president was sworn-in in May, market started falling till the end of that year...

-2015: From the beginning of the year, market was dipping due to uncertainties surrounding whether their will be election or not until American & British governments shown their anger; that was when Nigerian govt announced that presidential election will take place in March. Market loved the news & immediately a dipping market suddenly changed direction and created a pin-bar. Election came & gone with the incumbent president conceded defeat - market loved this and we witnessed market rally. Before the president was sworn-in, market became jittery and market started another fall till late 2016.

I tried to make any summary out these 3 scenarios but data is too small, however, a common factor are:
-Market rallies in the election month
-Market dips after president sworn-in and lasted for at least throughout that year

With the elections now coming in February, what do we expect huh

grin grin grin grin grin
A very good job BBM. grin

We need all the available data to make a good judgement.
This is a professional job and not all those beer parlour stories that have no basis.
