fxuser: never looked at the chart before until now monthly chart indicators are at all time highs and in support of possibilities. interesting ( https://invst.ly/4pm09) nice one
#justobserving I just looked at the result too. Two consecutive quaters with solid performance eps of 38.7k as at q2 projected eps of about 77k at year end. Decent increase in turnover. The negatives include; . liquidity, as i was once trapped here before . high debt profile . past incosistency with the numbers. |

fxuser: Presco / Okomu - both pulling back on d monthly and weekly ! - both falling back within last week range - typical rest behaviour after a surge . With the latest result, i will pick okomu over presco. . q on q . okomu did better in q2 . traditionally, q2 is suppose to present the strongest earnings. . presco earnings in q2 is less than that of q1 . entry point is the joker if one can get it right. |

Coolcash1: Mine was kind of funny...seeing that I couldn't enter on Monday at N11.47, I placed my bud during pre-market at 12.56. Minutes after trading started I saw that my order has been filled... I was happy..
However, the joy was short lived as I later realized that the price was falling so fast... faster that it entered my stop loss, 11.59 then I knew I had to take a quick decision... Of course, yours truly had to JO..
Thereafter again I noticed that sellers refused to go below the 11.59 and gradually the bid was growing...Immediately this was noticed, I re-entered at 12.03 and went away saying to myself that whatever happens thereafter I will accept it...However, I was happy to see that it closed high yesterday .... This is serious. Does that mean you are going to sell again today if the price drops below N11.59 I am in for the long haul,8 to 12 months, though will not hesitate to sell if the price runs ahead of time. With a.stock with good gundamentals, i dont have to worry much about day to day flunctuation in price, if there is a pull back, i simply add to my position provided cash is available and i have not exceded my acceptable limit in portfolio size for that particular stock. My next point of worry would be at the release of q3 result when my position will be due for review. Yesterday was interesting, the market got me confused too, bought in four tranches,12.56, 12.59. 12.14 & 12.1 and i ended up buying half of what i projected to buy. Today is another day, we' ll see how it goes! |

Tritri: @pluto09 Is that result a positive or negative ? abi it like oando ?
@DeRuggedProf Our Food dan land. Positive or negative is relative. What are your expectations/projections? If the result meets your projection, then it is positive and if it does'nt, then it is negative. |

stcool: Page 8, Forte Oil, I am not understanding the Profit declared vis a vis EPS. Anyways as I expected they was drop in revenue from Fuels Slight increase in the lubricant biz The only thing holding up Forte Oil now is the Energy generation biz which generated over 11bn compared to 2bn last year. In total they was a drop in revenue QoQ. They need to find away to grow more.
PG 43 Drop in gross profit, drop in PAT. EPS 1.05(2017) compared to 1.88(2016)
Not so good for me. Let market be the judge.
Pls accountants in the house kindly review pg 8 & pg 43 of the result, we need clarification. Confusing what they did here. The eps is calculated with the profit attributed to the owners of the company which is N1.365b. The remaining balance of N2.79b out of the total profit of N4.1b is for non controlling interests. Give it to the cowboys. Like otedola like Tony! |

Manonamission: If I could hazard a guess, I'd say it is acceptable though not ideal. Companies may chose to defer payable tax. In this case, NPFMFB chooses to defer it's tax obligations till the final quarter. Also, tax quoted in unaudited quarterly results may not correlate to year end tax payable. There may be over-payment or under-payment in the quarterlies. In fact, a company may underpay tax in the quarter to make margins look good until the result is audited. You explanation makes sense. Thanks! |

@ Prof, these are my findings on dangote flour and the noddle bussiness; .The noodles bussiness has not been sold as at june 2017 .It represents a small fraction of the DF group with a contribution of about 1.4% to the turnover .The operation of the noodles section resulted in a loss of about N400m as at q2 My conclusion, the management will be happy to give out the noodles bussiness for free just to plug the hole and as such i am not expecting any major windfall in term of cash from disposing off the noodles segment. You will do well to discount this in your evaluation of what you expect from the company. It is better to have a positive suprise than a negative one. Wish you a very bullish week!

holm: Pluto,
Do you find this acceptable (in accounting at least), that a company will not state, the tax paid in Q1-Q3 2016 and disclose such in full at FY2016? I noticed this in NPF. Ah ah, may be it is because they are police. lol. Honestly, I dont know if that is acceptable or not in accounting as I am not an accountant. The accountants in the house can help us out. |
