Manonamission: Typical of this stock. However, consider that the company reported improved margins yoy aside the uptick in revenues too. Looking at the margins again, you would realise the power segment is the main driver making up for the lull in the hospitality segment during the Abuja airport closure. Historical, the hospitality segment was the main cash cow of the group before TUP joined the group. Margins are expected to improve further over the next quarters (usually stronger for the hotel segment). Going forward, the power segment will determine the price valuation. The market considers Power investment an invaluable asset. Same reason the market won't price FO in the same league as MRS (all things being equal).
Cons: non-controlling interest ish Unpredictability of uncle Tony Large OS Power and regulatory issues in Naija
Disclaimer: Remains my personal opinion. I also hold JIJO positions here. Well said my brother! |

DeRuggedProf: I will appreciate your fair value. When you have a company in which profit attributed to non controling interest is more than the profit attributed to the owners of the company, assingning a fair value is always very difficult. |

locodemy: Is this transactions different from the one of Tuesday where they informed us of share buy back from UBA? pls i need clarifications from this transactions.is it in favour of UBA shareholders or APR shareholders since both stocks are listed differently and ever since UBA divested from APR,nothing holds them in common again.
pls who knows better.........? I will not be suprised if it turns out that vanguard retract that story. I cant connect with what the story is saying. |

emmanuelewumi: The buy back was bought from the staff Investment Trust Scheme. The staff investment Trust Scheme members are insiders who will not be willing to sell at N4 to N6.
If UBA had bought the over 2 billion units on the floor from you and I, your guess is as good as mine UBA would have been selling higher than the current price.
Let us wait for the q2 performance of UBA. But with the 36.3 billion outstanding shares, the company was able to make EPS of N2 for the full year of 2016. I dont have problem with uba result, they are doing well and if you ask me i will pick uba ahead of other tier1 bank if i am to buy bank stock today. I asked the question so as to generate healthy debate and probably learn one or two things. |

emmanuelewumi: I guess management, insiders and some investors like me bought at those prices and even at lower prices. But those purchases were done in the personal capacities of management, insiders and informed investors.
The share buy back was approved by shareholders during the last AGM, and the buy back was done by the company. I share buy back also needs the approval of SEC.
If you are a value investor you will agree with me that UBA is not a N10 stock. I also read it that the share buy back was approved by shareholders since last year. That is the reason i am asking the question. I am very much in support of share buy back but i equally understand that shareholders get a better deal if it is done at a very low price hence my question of why now? Yes i agree uba is not a N10 stock but i will rather buy the stock when it was N4 than wait for it to get to N10. |

stcool: The NSE can not claim ignorance, I remember vividly during the days of stockmarket Nigeria website, where most guys I respect so much in investing where raising the red flag countless number of times about Oando (At a point I was arguing wrongly). They saw it long coming and they pulled out all their investmets in Oando and never went back.
Wale is a killer, he killed Oando. Forget about the ConocoPhillips deal. God exposed him. They never had the interest of minority shareholders at heart going into that deal. If Oil price had stayed up, they would have diverted so much including divesting most holdings to their cronies.
Have you tried going through Oando financials: Oando bahamas, Oando this & that, so many sub companies under one company you begin to wonder. Go and check the shareholding structure of Oando Energy Resources, the same way they are diluting Oando plc Nigeria, is the same way they are diluting shares in Oando Energy resources.
At the end, the real Oando shareholders own nothing in all this deal. But they are quick to raise capital from minority shareholders. God will punish Wale & Co. I feel you bro. I was also among those who were arguing blindly about oando on SMN. I have learnt my lessons and that is why i will not buy into some companies on the nse now no matter the temptation. Those guys are crooks! |

stcool: For ConOil the bad news I am aware of is the litigation's against them in the lower court .While we await the judgement of the supreme court, my investment strategy is good for ConOil. My average purchase is N40, so if it gets down to 20 I can average down to N25 ahead of next year dividend. If Judgement goes against them, which is worst case scenario and I still get N3 dividend year end, then I don't think I have made a bad investment. What if Supreme court throws out the lower court ruling? Buying conoil at N40 in the first place represent an investment decision with a very big risk. As a fundamentalist, your entry price is one of the most important thing. I will advise that you study conoil results for the past six years as this will help you to understand the company better. There is no guarantee that conoil result will be good next year. |

rebekah2011: I do not think it is a disappointing results. Check the OCI, if this is factored the EPS will be 56k. That was why i said from my own perspective. I sold all my holdings in the company after the release of 2016 fy result for reason that has nothing to do with the company performance., I have been keeping my eyes on it for me to enter again at the right time and price. However the latest result has broaden my perspective about the company... |
