stokfrick: I noticed that investors do not only look at EPS but also efficiency when comparing peers in a sector. I think that's why they will always price gtb higher than zenith Same thing is happening to stanbic! Gtb is about 50% efficient while zenith is about 25% efficient Well said! |

DeRuggedProf: Pluto09. GTB Vs Zenith Half year. A clinical and digestible comparison will not be unacknowledged. Less fundamentally endowed at a loss for result ranking between orange/white and adulterated red. Kindly separate the fight for us. No detail analysis till time will permit. On the surface i give it to the orange. Their efficiency is 2nd to none in the banking sector. It will continue to sell at a premium for a very long time. NB: I have none of the two in my portfolio though i am seriously tempted now to have at least one if not the two. |

DeRuggedProf: Evening draws nigh. -If thy fortress (support) is still far, thou might choose to embark on an early journey. -Tactical manoeuvres are permitted in battle. -The spirits have taken over the battle on behalf of our mortal enemies. -The mortals must retreat till the war rules are restored. -A battle is not planned on the battlefield. -The casualties are not restricted to those dead or with severed limbs. -Patience is a virtue only where the end result is not inevitable pain. -Rain and blindness are never introduced when they meet. - TA is in its glory days, eclipsing fundamentals.... |

@ Rebekah, just hold on to your conviction. That story of recovery has been told many times with nothing to show for it. Traditionally, banks book more impairment in H2 and i dont see how FBN will have a better H2. Those who understand TA will make more money in FBN. Fundamentally, the bank has a lot to do for them to be the old FBN we used to know. |

Manonamission: I didn't know what to make of the price increase. Board problems coupled with a woeful result sent the price below N9 at some point and I have watched it rise since then, afraid to take position. I dont understand the bank myself. At a time when it was selling below N10, I took a look at their finacial reports and all i saw was problems just like FBN. The only positive i noticed was a plan to set up a private asset management company(something like amcon ) to take all the bad loans from their book. I have watched and watch the price moving from sub N10 to close to N20. Those who are buying sure know what we don't know. |

Revibe: I was about to comment on their cashflow, the key audit matters in the 2016 report says something about the risk of their trade receivables being impaired. Their trade receivables is about 24% of total assets which is material enough to have effect on profit if impairment charges are correctly applied. Also, for a company that wants to restructure, their operating expenses are up by 700%. A highly geared company should be run efficiently. You are spot on. The company still have a long way to go. |

PharmAlfred: Sir Pluto and the house, what do you see of Access Bank and UBA. Do you see any upside given their foundamentals?
Same for Okomu oil.
Buying winning stocks is the deal this year. No room for suckers.
NB: I don't hold any piece of the aforementioned yet. Coincidentally, the 3 stocks are on my buying lists. With the general state of the market, i consider access and uba at the current price as good bargains while we await their q2 result for further review. I have recommended okomu here when it was selling at a little above N50. With a strong q2 performance, the stock is still a buy at current price though, buying at a lower price will improve returns. NOTE; I dont buy stocks with the intention of making profit in one or two months neither do i use stop loss. THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION and is not a buy or sell recommendation. |

ijinleoro: With due regards, you are not fair to @samguru's remark on C&I leasing. We are all here to say our minds and reacts to every stock based on our perception/research/hearsay and thereafter do our DD. My own opinion however on C&I is positive for now, based on their current Q1 EPS of 35k. The only problem I perceived is that the stock may not be liquid on the long term (probably in 2 months time). I entered at 63k though with tasere units and hope to bail out as soon as I make 100%. C&I is a stock with good prospect (has always been). My major concern is their incosistency over time. The profit in q2 can disaapear in the next quaters. It is instructive to note that the profit declared in last year audited account was from other income, foreing exchange gains which is not sustainable. They appear to be getting better going by the improvement in turnover, shareholder's fund, and retained earnings. Only time will tell if they are really out of the wood, though it might be too late then to take position NB; I have some tasere units here that i bought last week friday at N1 |
