PoliticsRe: FG Sets-up N3bn Fund For Nollywood by PointB: 11:56am On Mar 04, 2013
taharqa: Assert only what you are sure of, esp in public; dats what wise people do... The $200m Loan facility promisd by GEJ in 2011 and domiciled in d BOI, took sm time b4 taking off, but has since taking off. Business persons from d Entertainment Industry are already drawing from d Facility. The so-calld 'first' Nollywood film that was distributd recently on American Cinamas was supportd by dis Entertainment Fund, sometin that Mr Abu (the Producer) stated expressly. That thread was on d frontpage a little more than a week ago.... That Entertainment Fund is working; dis Nollywood Grant Fund will work. Why? Cos GEJ keeps his promise (YOUWin, SURE-P, et al )
More like it. Thanks for taking time to explain.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Visits Ladipo Market (Pictures) by PointB: 11:50am On Mar 04, 2013
Obiora4life: Haha, showman? That's what he is, always putting the cart before the horse, sometime I ask myself if he ever thinks before making decisions. Anyway let him continue on his path, he's bent on grinding Lagos to a halt and he will get what he's been yearning for.
I tell you.

I simply cannot find a better description for the Fashola often set out to do his job. He failed to ensure that the place was in good shape, then he closed it down, now he's gone there to confirm his inability to carry out his duty. In all he blame the traders who ordinarily pay tax for these things to be done on their behalf. Sadly we have some choirs, mainly his blind supporters, praising his myopia to high heavens. No one bother to ask what he does with the huge revenue he receives both from the federation and from taxes. Very disheartening I must say.

I am very convinced now that fashola is a showman, no more no less.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Visits Ladipo Market (Pictures) by PointB: 11:33am On Mar 04, 2013
It may not be too far fetch to think or even suggest that Fashola is gradually becoming a showman. It is my opinion that Fashola often create this unfortunate scenario, draw in the press, in order to be seen as working.

I personally don't see why Fashola need to visit the market after closing it to create the impression that he is vindicated. Any major open market will certainly look like a junk yard when forcefully and haphazardly closed. Have you even for once look at the mess you create when you move from an old house, to a new one?

The whole fiasco looks like a big set-up by fashola (and his minders) to create an impression that he is working.

But we all know that Fashola earns nothing less than N30 Billion, as at last count, in monthly revenue. How much of this money has been spent improving this market, and others prior to forcefully depriving the tax-payers of their livelihood?

Elueme: This is surely a step in the right direction. But come to think, which sector of our economy has this president not affected? The vision is quite uncommon and only if our past leaders have this kind of foresight, am sure we would have been better today as a people.
Well articulated.

The folks usually quick to condemn well targeted government policy are those who wish to see the president fail, to satisfy their preconceived notion. They are the 'retardeen choir' a bunch of hopeless no-gooders
PoliticsRe: Fashola Visits Ladipo Market (Pictures) by PointB: 10:35am On Mar 04, 2013
berem: I wonder o! The Chairman of Mushin Local Government ought to be relieved of his duty. Why should the traders pay heavy tax and not be provided with water and toilet facilities? What is the essence of paying tax anyway?
That's exactly the point here. Every other thing is missing the point!
PoliticsRe: Fashola Visits Ladipo Market (Pictures) by PointB: 10:20am On Mar 04, 2013
Delafruita: you failed to acknowledge the fact that there is compulsory sanitation in all markets from 7-10am every thursday,is it the government that comes to do the sanitation?if the traders in ladipo had been doing it,will the market be that filthy?
It is not a matter of compulsory sanitation for the sake of it. I have seen compulsory sanitation exercise where the waste are accumulated in one spot, but no one to cart them away. Some of them ended up being recycled back to the system.

For compulsory sanitation exercise to work, a system of efficient waste disposal must be in place. Otherwise, the waste generated will end up in the usual place - drainage system, and any unused space.

Now until the LASG is able to provide this efficient waste disposal system, closing one thousand market or demolishing a million slum will not produce whatever result the government intends. Unless of course the intention is to redistribute the place to their cronies.
PoliticsRe: Uba Appeals To Fashola To Re-open Ladipo Market by PointB: 9:58am On Mar 04, 2013
Ngwakwe: There is no proper drainage with modern Affluent treatment plant for those used oil flowing to the near by communities and river.

Has Fashola sent waste disposal trucks and container to Ladipo market for the cleaning?

Fashola, do your job and put down a safe operating procedure for the perfect sanitation of this Auto market and use Law Enforcement Agency to have them comply after DOING YOUR OWN PART AS THE GOVERNOR.
Exactly my point.

Is there any evidence to suggest that the traders frustrated the effort of the sanitation agents. There is even nothing to suggest that proper waste disposal services were offered to the traders.

I think LASG has lost it. The primary reaction of the LASG is often to wrong one most often than not. I think this is nothing but a red herring, orchestrated to obfuscate other pertinent issue concerning the government and it's agencies.

Eventually the market will be re-open, and it will be business as usual, unless the Government as a facilitator does what it ought to have done, before the knee jerk reaction of market closure.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Visits Ladipo Market (Pictures) by PointB: 9:39am On Mar 04, 2013
I hope that the LASG government use the opportunity of this misstep to put the right machinery in place to ensure that the filth in Ladipo and all other markets they have closed in recent time does not return. I personally doubt that closing a market is the best way to approach issues such as this. Unfortunately government world over, never learn. Fashola cannot be an exception in any case. Look again at Oshodi

Yes, the Agency should go and clean up Lapido abi?
I dont know the problem of my fellow ibos, you keep praising Chime, Orji, Peter, and yet you wont relocate your business back to these new shiny Manhattans or New Yorks, and go and enjoy the massive development there. All you do is keep attacking BRF, claiming hes a thief, hes a racist, hes arrogant, etc. Biko, go back home, and go set up your business in that over-developed village of yours HABA grin grin grin grin grin grin
Sharrap your putrid mouth my friend. Who is talking about Igbo here? We are talking about right thing being done and you are here blapping about things you know little or nothing about?

Perhaps you should read slowly to understand arguments before using any logic to make your contributions. There are state agencies tasked with ensuring that the environment are clean. If these agencies did their job properly, there would be absolutely no need to close any market. The failure of the agencies to do their job should lie squarely on the foot of the State Government/Governor not on traders who pay taxes for this to be done on their behalf.
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Is A Failure - PDP by PointB: 8:35am On Mar 04, 2013
I would call him a failure too if he doesn't complete most of the projects he started in Imo State and doesn' get anything substantial from his romance with APC. Until then, I keep my fingers crossed, lip sealed.
PoliticsRe: FG Sets-up N3bn Fund For Nollywood by PointB: 8:30am On Mar 04, 2013
Nollywood is one of the biggest industry in Nigeria, and of course Nigeria biggest cultural export. Any support rendered to them can only be seen as wastage by the 'retardeen choir' and allied bigoted crew because they lack the objectivity and foresight to know better.

Kudo to the FG for this initiative for the second time running.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Visits Ladipo Market (Pictures) by PointB:
Besides, is there no Environmental Protection/Sanitation Agency in the state (Lagos)? What exactly is their job description?

Wouldn't they have been well served doing their own bit to keep the market and other environment clean. Why do Nigerians panders to tribalism in very basic things? Most of the clowns posting here are busy shouting 'Igbo!, Igbo!!' when common sense suggests that sanitation agency failed woefully to do their job. And what is being exposed here is the failure of Fashola Government to do it's duty. A government that pockets tax and shirks on it responsibility, is as bad could be. Why take out your failure on the citizen? Government have an ingenious way of blaming their failures on the citizen. Fashola's is one example of this type of government.

In closing Ladipo Market, the government has admitted that the agencies responsible for sanitation is lacking in ideas, and or tools to do what is necessary to do their jobs. Close one thousand markets if you like, without putting the necessary tools in place, the dirt will return as soon as the markets are open. Take a look at Oshodi and see what has become of the place. There is something fundamentally wrong in the way LASG government go about closing markets and demolishing buildings. Paucity of ideas is a common denominator in these plethora of Fashola's misadventure, he is losing it by the day!
PoliticsRe: Fashola Visits Ladipo Market (Pictures) by PointB:
Clearing of waste is best done by professionals not by the traders. LASG (Fashola) should clean up the dirt and charge the traders for the service and stop drawing unnecessary attention to his own (LASG) failures. If these guys undertake the business of clearing the waste like they did for security, who knows what charges would be leveled against them.

We shall not have a hand in their destruction.

Let them enjoy the fruit of their labour.

Danjuma didn't know what to do with $500 Milion, now he doesn't have a clue what to do about burning North. If Danjuma can afford to play fiddle while North burns, wake me up when it is time to sell the ashes as sugar! cheesy

^^^^

Nothing shameful here, aboki.

Cos actually some people have more access to God than others whether we like it or not. Those who faithfully take seeking the face of God as their calling are mostly likely to find God than those whose seek God's face en-passing.

It's easier though if you are a true pastor, but ordinary people also have unlimited access to good too.

While one Pastor actually try his best to do the work of God, the other resort to wishing death and doom to his political opponent from the pulpit. Pastor Adegboye, and bakare are world apart.
