@9ja_I_hail No prob, will check later. kindly update the list if you can. Nature beckons my eyes now. Ji s'ike nwa nne Ko odi echi. |
FreeGlobe: why are you taking these decisions by yourself? I thought we have an electoral panel/body/committee/whatever. why not take the matter to them to vote. We operate democracy here. You have made erroneous judgements in the past for us to trust you with another .You are correct we have electoral body. The electoral body consist of the Electoral Commissioner and the Electoral tribunal. As I explained ealier to you, I am the current Electoral Commissioner. 9Ja_I_hail, Afamdever and Ujchief are members of the tribunal. As the Electoral Commisioner I have the mandate to take decisions such as disqualifying a candidate or not based on strength of evidence of breach of rule. But the Tribunal reserves the right to over rule or uphold my decissions. If you noticed, I asked for either more evidence on okija's case or the petitioners should approach the tribunal. Bottomline, I am not taking the decisions alone. By the way have you read the constitution. If you have not, kindly do so. |
saintohia: Please the Electoral body:I regret to inform you we cannot swap nominations. It would be difficult to track or follow if everyone starts asking us to swap nominations. |
Umunna, I have gone through the links provided, and must say that some of the comments ranged from myopic, to ignorance; some are distasteful and indeed promote disunity contrary to our objectives. But we must also agree with Okija_juju that since we have punished him in the past for these infrations, it would amount to double jeopardy to punish him again for them. Certainly it would be unfair to punish someone twice for same offence. I would therefore maintain that only offence commited after the last election with any of the candidates' known multiple ids will be admissible in this matter. The electoral team will conduct further background checks on all the top contestants. We are encouraged to help in this effort by providing information on them. In the case of Okija (aka Mad Cow), only recent information from Nov 2012 to date will suffice. Until further information Okija remains in the run. Further appeal may be directed to the Electoral Tribunal who reserve the right to upturn my decision. |
@9ja_I_Hail, Please let me review the links and get back to you. |
Lord Naya, Thank you for supporting your objection with evidence. Like my colleague noted, Okija_juju will be throughly investigated and decision taken would be made known. |
@Ojiofor, Thank you for your concern. Let me assure you that the electoral team will take measures in line with the constitution to ensure only 'fit and proper' Igbo poster assume the position of the Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland. This much the constitution empowered us to do. While we may further carry out necessary investigation and background checks, it is possible to miss some of these incidents. Kindly do provide us with links showing evidence of these infrations you allege he or any other candidate commited. This will in no small measure assist us in reaching a conclusion that will be fair to all concerned. Help us to serve you better. |
ndu_chucks: PointB, just so you know, I think you are doing a good job here. I have no intentions of derailing this thread no do I have the capability of doing so. I'm just unable to allow Dede1 to pass his lies as truths. Thanks for not trying to derail the thread. I am though happy to see Dede1 expose the fallacy in your claims. I agree with him that if Ndi Igbo can call the attention of your numerous 'mai ruwa' in pidgeon hausa as you claim, same logic demands they ask for water in similar fashion. So Nyamiri could only have come from Onye Nmiri mostly likely because their hausa neighbours overheard them telling one another that 'Onye nmiri na bia' (the water seller is approaching) shortly before they call the attention of the 'Onye nmiri' or 'Mai ruwa.' |
@Lord Naya and Noiseless, I quite appreciate your concern towards helping us saparate the wheath from the chaff. However I would again ask for links to or quotes of the offending incidents. Without that you are invariably asking me to act base on allegations. Surely you will agree with me that if these incidents are as rife as you put it, a link or two will not be hard to find. Until then Okija_juju remains in the race. |
My brother 9ja_I_hail Thanks for the latest update. |
rafindo: i nominate okija nd andre uwehi believe you have already nominate okija once. pls note that multiple nomination of same persons will count as null. Pls be guided. |
Indeed Lagos is home for everyone. But let's be realistic, those who have no qualms destroying theIr homes will show no qualms when it about those of others. Basically, the authority need to talk less and do more. Boko Haram sinister agenda should not be taken with kids glove. Searching for them under the bridges and garages is laughable. |
Na wa o. |
Congrats on your new born Andre |
@Noiseless, I understand your points, but I must aslo say you have to provide evidence. When that is done and others agree with subject the 1/3 rule then a case can be made. @Andre Uweh, Like the say better late then never, but u do have a mountain to climb. Nominations will end by 900 GMT on Monday. Top three nominee will be polled subject to meeting other requirements. I also urge the top nominees to start preparing their manifestos as they may have to face Umunna with their agenda. Updated nomination list will be available later in the day |
@Ndu_chucks, Your Igbo blood might even be 100%, I however have no means of verifying that. My interest is in your pattern of comment over time especially concerning Igbo matter. Perhaps I should say that you have been placed on the scale and found wanting. I dont think let alone believe you are Igbo hence I cannot accept your nomination. But like I said, there are higher powers up there who can upturn my position. Do let me stand in your way. Please approach them - Electoral Tribunal or Eze Odumchi. Once they agree with you, your nomination for Onlytruth will count. Please if I dont respond to you on this matter again, dont take it as disrespect or scorn. My eyes are weary, I rather attend to something else. |
By the OAM4J I notice you are here, thanks to you and your co Mod for the frontpage coverage. Gracias. |
Ndu_chucks, There is an aspect to the rules called profiling. Trust me, I used it alot in this process. Lateef, Isale_gan, tomakint, eggheaders, etc were among those who were not allowed to nominate. Don't take it personal. |
@Ndu_chuck, The first of the nominational rule clearly state that the one nominating must be a fit and proper Igbo as well as the one nominated. In order words if you can't be nominated for any of the Eze position you can not nominate. It is true we allowed you to participate actively in the last one but the rules have since been modified at the last reform conference as evidenced in the constitution. It is possible that one or two people who are not Igbos might have sneaked in a nomination or two. If we find out such it will be revoked. Ccearly a well known hausa/fulani advocate/bigot such as you cannot claim Igbo. Personally I appreciate some of your contribution to this thread, but the bigger question is: can you contest as Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland? If you feel disenfranchised, I kindly refer you to the Electoral Tribunal, and perhaps all the way to Eze Odumchi. |
Odunnu: Are we to nominate twice?Yes pls. You are entitled to two nominations, but you may choose to nominate once. |
Noiseless2: Bro, please check properly I have given my reasons for objecting okija juju's nomination, could you please let me know if the reason isn't good enough. My brother sorry maybe I missed the reason you stated. Kindly repost it and if you have link or quote kindly include it. I want this process to be as transparent as possible. If you have material evidence of any candidate breaching the rule or doing things that bring dishonour to us, I believe it is in best interest of umunna that such should be made public. A 'fit and proper' Igbo man is the ideal candidate for this position. Anything less should be exposed. |
@Freeglobe If those who nominated the folks you want disqualified starts raising objections to your preferred candidate I hope you know what it will lead to. Your objection to any candidate must therefore be objective and verifiable; you must necessarily show that the candidate has breach the constitution in a way. Failure to do that ties our hand or you prefer us to hold arbitrary powers? On the issue of my being the one conducting the election, let me say once again that I am ready to relinquish this role as soon as someone steps forward and volunteer to do it. The initial right was bequeathed me as a cabinet member in the Onlytruth administration. The administration of Eze Odumchi didn't revoke the previlege. And since I couldn't just fold my hand to watch things fall apart I thought it imperative to again rally us together. Some may misinterprete my motive, as you currently instigate. But majority will surely understand. In anycase what should paramount is steadying the ship of progress, not your or my personal interest. Daalu nwanne. |
9Ja_I_hail thanks and over to you again. When u are able kindly update the list. |
alex101: I will advise the electoral committee and umu Igbo to be weary of impostors posing as Igbo. I will also like to see more folks offering themselves for service to Ndigbo too. I know we're all busy, but the sacrifice will worth it. I learnt the true meaning sacrifice when I saw the movie "Lord of the ring" (fellowship of the ring). It gets to a time when you can ask no more of a person that has done so much for you, even to the point risking his/her life for a cause. You just have to know when to step in, even when it's inconvinient/risky for you. Again, I will limit my postings on this thread and increase my "observership". Dalu nu ummunem. We also urge you not to hesitate to point out such impostors, especially if they try to manipulate the process by nominating. |
saintohia: The electoral body :I think we have duly dealt with this matter. You must state a reason you want them dropped, and such reason(s) must be grounded in the constitution; otherwise it will wont hold. So far none of the objection has been supported with tangible reason or link. |
9ja_I_hail: PointB thanks for correcting Biafra rep nomination counts, was about to correct it.You are welcome |
Kindly note the latest update. I hope this will address some concerns. Kindly alert me is I miss a nomination. Name Nominations Onlytruth - 14 Okija_juju - 7 Alex101 - 6 Manny4life - 6 Biafra_rep - 4 KittyKings - 2 Obiagu1 - 1 Slimghost - 1 CFCfan - 1 |
Biafra rep: Chukwu gozie gi Mazi Synca, Biko unu lezie anya nke oma di ka ana agbako nmadu ole ndi bianyere aka. This election is not a do or die affair but it must be devoid of foul play! I have faith in PointB to be free and fair to all contestants, nontheless I would not hesitate to head to the tribunal if he turns out to be another Maurice Iwu and indulge in magomago and Iwuruwuru, SAY YES TO FREE AND FAIR POLL!I will recheck your nominations and update it accordingly in the next update. Thanks for your patience and understanding. |
@RemarkD, Your nomination of Manny is noted. But you are yet to state your reason for objecting Onlytruth's nomination. Please let me reiterate that such reason(s) must be grounded in the constitution; otherwise it will wont hold. Kindly refer to the constitution in the link below: https://www.nairaland.com/download/956708 |
ndu_chucks: Oga, I'd recommend that you do not introduce undue discrimination and/or bigotry into this process. In as much as you yourself have not proved to us that you are of a certain ethnicity, you have no right to withhold my nomination.I may not be an expert in determining the ethnicity of many, but yours is clearly not Igbo. |
manny4life: It's all good... I know where this is leading, perhaps I may be able to help afterwards.I sincerely hope so, for the good of all of us. You are welcome. |
Let me also add that as per our Constitution, only top three nominees will be polled subject to any or all petition against their candidacy or nomination. |
