emmatok:Oga, have you EVER heard of PAYE? All workers, federal, state, companies, local government, etc pay to the state where they work, that's Nigerian law. Always cross-check before you post. |
@violent, Sir/Ma, do Nigerian companies and state governments print money too? |
@violent, Thank you sir/ma, what about the second question? When they 'dont have the capacity to pay' a la minimum wage, |
And when government fails to pay (I have in mind Greece, Iceland, Spain, Italy and USA?), eg, governors TAKING BONDS MONEY ABROAD to pay their 'children's school fees', how would I get my money back after ten years? And when governors insist they don't 'HAVE THE CAPACITY TO PAY', where will I run to? |
'Don't worry, Senator Bola Tinubu is going to the University of Life, Kirikiri Campus, he'll be back. Bode George was an alumni. "T'aye banfee, ko rora jaye o, " - Ebenezer Obey |
Where is Fashola? I thought he was appalled at Bode George's rented crowd in the court premises? Where is his usual outrage? Where is his "the court is a shrine" narrative? What is the difference now? Except that Bode is PDP and Bola is his godfather. |
stormm:Oga wa, your political awareness is in question. Are you saying you did not know Tinubu's role in emasculating Afenifere, a group representing Awoism post 1999? You must just be arriving from Mars not to know Afenifere's role in Tinubu's ascendancy to Lagos governorship in 1999, over Funsho Williams, arguably the best political strategist Lagos has ever produced. You must be very insincere not to mention Tinubu's morbid power mongering in demonizing his benefactors using the Lagos media guys initially and the Omatseyes recently. You are talking of 'challenge to family survival', survival of what? Anybody with little intelligence knows that this article is off-the-mark. There are some dos and donts in political business especially in Yorubaland, one of the donts is to never insult Awo, or anything Awo and I doubt if there's anything more Awo than his family. I don't know how Tinubu can survive this battle judging by past experience. For your information, all the hatred of Obj by the Yoruba is a result of his allegedly crossing a political line. It goes down to MKO who was hated passionately until the June 12 matter came up. One of the reasons I can't be convinced that Omatseye's article did not have Tinubu's blessings is the way he responded by writing Mama and giving it prominence in newspaper. Haba! That's what HID is worth, a mere letter, and so written in some condescending language leaked to the press? When your drum is sounding too loudly, it is about to burst! |
National Mirror is a tabloid! |
@Poster - You did not give a single example of anyone (dead or alive) living the utopia 'midas touch' live you decribed here. It would be interesting to know who that 'angel' is. |

Buhari does not have respect for ANY RIGHTS; copyright, human rights, or civil rights. He is a dictator, he is a notorious violator of people's rights. If he is elected, very unlikely, all you his supporters must be ready to be DRUGGED & CRATED for deportation back to Nigeria, be ready to give up your freedom of expression and opinion in the name of 'National SKURITI'. He has done it before, he has promised he'll do it again. All your internet gra gra talent will vaporize. |
This is the kind of results people get when they emancipate themselves from mental slavery of eternal complaint, whinning and blaming and start to take responsibiity. While Nigerians keep complaining about electricity, Southys come and invested in the uncertainty and now reaping huge profits. Very soon, they'll come and invest in electricity, provide the needed megawatts while we most certainly will keep complaining of how sinful their profit is. In Nigeria numbers don't matter except when they carry currency signs. |
Why is SMS from one network to another network still @ #15? |
It is even harder applying our learning to solving Nigeria's problems, irrespective of where it is acquired, home or abroad. |
You mean Fashola doesn't know how much Nigeria earns from Oil? And he want to be taken seriously? 2.3 million barrels per day multiplied by the oil price, is that how things work? Fashola has not heard of JV partnership, 60:40 ratios, before? And this is the guy calling for debates everywhere? I thought Fashola is smarter than quoting incorrect figures to score petty political points. |
Tunde Bakare's political aspirations are legit, however, he should have made it known and not deceive a lot of people that all he was doing was pastoring. We would have finished this scrutiny long ago. He talks too much and he has slandered a lot of people in the cause of his rabble rousing, he should therefore expect people to take their own pound of flesh now that he is out. He has just started. Those of us who are demanding clarifications for his past inconsistencies are entitled to so demand, afterall, he wants our votes. Someone who wants to lead a people in this modern times must be prepared to bare it all. By the way, those of you here who are proving over sabi about Bakare should be careful. He said on his TV program on Sunday that he warned you guys to stop defending him 'because you don't what am doing'. It is also alleged that he batters his wife. Is it true? Let him respond. |
Tunde Bakare wants the Marines sent to Ogun State, where his political opponent is governor, in order to dislodge the 'Houses of Assembly' there. He kept silent about Ekiti State, where his political ally is governor, where minority rules the majority in their House of Assembly. Tunde Bakare cannot trust Goodluck Jonathan because he didn't promise him his sovereign conference but prefers Muhamadu Buhari who has consistently said 'Nigeria's main problem is security', that the police only need to work more and Nigeria would be fine. He didn't tell us what Buhari said, OR PROMISED HIM, about the Sovereign National Conference (his Utopia). Tunde Bakare cannot find anybody in Nigeria who can be a good president apart from Muhamadu Buhari but failed to tell us how Buhari would be able to throw every 'law breaker' into jail as a civilian president when he didn't survive ordinary two years as a military head of state and a brutal dictator, despite suspension of the constitution, trampling on people's fundamental human rights (to life, speech, association, freedom to engage in enterprise and make profit, promulgation of Decree 4 ETC). Tunde Bakare said 'They are all by-products of planless, clueless leadership that has characterized the government of the PDP, especially in the last four years', but persistently called Olusegun Obasanjo's administration names, even predicted his death several times. Tunde Bakare said Nuhu Ribadu's EFCC performed better than Farida Waziri's EFCC but failed to acknowledge the political cover given to Ribadu by Obasanjo. Tunde Bakare wants "progressives" who he said are not serious like the PDP. Just to replace the un-serious with the more un-serious "progressives" Tunde Bakare said "Not these men who do not know their left from their right. Whose credentials, including educational credentials, must be examined because the way they are functioning, it does not look like they went to school", but cannot articulate his views simply in just one interview. And had in fact denied several prophecies of his which were recorded on tape. Tunde Bakare is inconsistent. Tunde Bakare is our everyday Nigerian politician. Tunde Bakare is not serious!!! Tunde Bakare could be a FRAUD! |
My worry with SR is that it started as a very non-conventional 21st century, unguarded, unrestrained media but now trying to remodel themselves in a conventional sense. And there evident of greater confussion in this Wikileaks times, Sowore and his people are again trying to see themselves in the mould of Julian Assange's Wikileaks. I don't see any similarity between them, Sowore could best be described as a guerilla journalist while Assange has not pretended to be a journalist. He does not have any opinion about the rightness or wrongness of those leaks, he is after freedom of speech, whereas Sowore to my mind seeks to be (at least initially, until the altercation with Keyamo who revealed just a little of his hidden past) an anti-corruption crusader. Another worry of mine is the SR's difficulty in applying the standard it used on its 'enemies' to its 'friends'. Notice the way they've exposed Phillips Emeagwali's 'fraud' and bogus claims and notice the silence on Wole Soyinka's. If Soyinka's recent revelation is anything to go by, it is clear that he too must have been lying about his academic qualifications for years only for the ceremony to be organized for him to 'amend the errors'. If someone asked if you had a PhD and instead of saying NO, you said you had a DD and you name is Wole Soyinka, the impression will be that that DD must be a very important award, perhaps higher than a normal PhD, and after several years you didn't clarify it only to come in 2010 to 'clear the air', when a similar 'fraudulent academic claims' is in the front page of public debate, then something is fishy. We might never even know the true position of things. SR did not give Emeagwali the similar luxury to 'clear the air'. If one of Phillips' sins is that of not correcting an interviewer who refer to him as a PhD holder, what about Pat Utomi that has been lying for years of being an economist? He has not made any effort to correct it but SR is not after him. But by and large we need SR as a catalyst to our fight against corruption and as an alternative to our infested main stream media, MSM at home. I'll still visit SR, but I'll remain cautious and read between the lines. |
@Tugbaski My brother, we are on the same page. My post is a satire. "Make things happen" is the campaign slogan of Atiku |
I am told his highest qualification is not near a diploma. They said it is something like CERTIFICATE IN HYGEINE. Whatever it is, let's give it to them in that school, they sure know how to make things happen. |
DIPLOMA IN HYGEINE or DIPLOMA OF HYGEINE or DIPLOMA IN HYGEINE STUDIES That's the highest qualification this guy possess. Why can't he apply for a Cholera Officer position in Mubi Local Government Health department where can practice his violence? Assuming Atiku gets us all intimidated with his Al-Qaeda threat, and having deceived Ciroma into surrendering the lives of 9 + 3 people into his hand, then he becomes the president of Nigeria by default. We must all apply to that School of Hygeine to 'make things happen' this way. |
Ayo Fayoye needs help, the family should get him into a rehab facility immediately. It's only in Nigeria that a murder suspect goes about insulting people while the case is in court. I am not a medical expert but I suspect this guy can do with a good medical help, 1) he insulted traditionally rulers, 2) he insulted university teachers and majority Ekiti educated people, 3) he is accused of thugery and ungentlemanly behaviors 4) legend has is that he personally carried AK47 to dislodge an AC political meeting when he was still governor 5) he is standing trial for violently taking the life of citizen Daramola 6) he was implicated in the murder of citizen Taiwo Fasuba, 7) he is standing trial for various charges of money laundering and financial crimes. Ekiti people are very reasonable, notwithstanding his current spending spree, his political future, and by extension his family members, is very bleak, the reason his brother wants to distance the family from this roguish behavior. Ayo Fayose wants to represent his constituency at the senate, we are watching whether an Ekiti man/woman would be proud of this kind of representation. |
Pastor Kumuyi was born in 1941, that makes him 69 actually. But why did he contract this marriage in London, is it a loss of faith in our legal system? |
Nice letter to Mr. Babangida, I have no doubt in my mind that Nigeria's greatness is around the corner, now we are keeping to issues like advanced democracies. Nevertheless, I wish to state here clearly that Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida will not contest election next year. He is currently finding a way out of the race via North's consensus candidate. Ciroma is going to give him a soft landing, and then he will come out to say he agrees with the consensus nonsense. Imagine Babangida is already a disgrace and going into irrelevance, from poor performance as a president, to a northern champion, he is now being pushed aside by Ciroma, to Minna actually, then Talba will restrict his movement to the Hiltop. IBB has not only finished himself, his children's political future is very very bleak. |
The constitution did not mention swearing-in twice as disqualification for election as president, it talks of a person who has been previously elected twice - based on the 1999 constitution. By 2015, the only person disqualified by that singular provision remains Obasanjo. |
Guys, don't you think we need to read the book in order to know the context Obj made that statement? Plus, I don't think Dr. Ekwueme rejected that position because it demeans him, I guess being a refined gentleman, he might have reasoned that his strength lies in the executive and not the legislature, he would have loved to serve in any capacity that will add value to the country. These guys love this country more than we think. |
@ juman It would be interesting to hear from you how Lula 'single-handedly brought glory and honor to Brazil'. GEJ needs that kind of 'miracle working' talisman. |
As long as we keep it at the level of propaganda, and refrain from violent confrontation, the game will only get interesting. This is a poor showing, remember they once accused GEJ of intimidating other presidential aspirants and governors with EFCC. That allegation was watery as it did not achieve anything. Now, the GIS guy has finished the north; first he says Abiola and Obasanjo's elections were procured with cash contrary to the zoning claim by Ciroma and the gang; second, when push comes to shove Obj has the ace internationally |
My friend Mallam Buhari is a very very strong leader! When he contested in 2003 he bullied Rochas Okorocha who was the frontliner in their party, ANPP; he did not allow any democratic process complete its course in the selection of presidential candidate in ANPP back then. Currently, my friend is the sole presidential candidate of his part, the CDC, where no congress has been held and he is already the candidate. Were he in GEJ's shoes, he would have decreed that all NASS members be arrested for throwing out his bill. He would have silenced all dissenting voices and closed all media houses, including NL, and clamp all NL posters in jail without trial. Mallam Buhari would have decreed SHARIA as the only law in Nigeria. My friend Mallam Buhari is a strong leader indeed! |
Dr Othman should not draw us back. We are way ahead of this crude tactics. Take this allege bad guys to court or resign. I think someone should issue a query to Othman and make him explain this nonsense. If EFCC has fact to stop politicians from contesting, that fact should be presented in court to nail them. EFCC is just showing how unserious it is as an organization. EFCC was not created to stop politicians from contesting, it was established to prosecute alleged financial criminals. |
Your political party organisation skills do not qualify you to be president, party chairman may be. Atiku, you should not even mention your experience on the campaign trail. And please stop talking about what others have done bad. That is bad politics. People have made up their minds about certain people in Nigeria, you are one of them, your candidacy is a hard sell. In leadership, integrity is key. From what we seen so far, there seems to be a consensus on your lack of integrity. |
Atiku! Atiku!! Atiku!!! How many times did I call you? Listen, Nigeria has gone beyond your demagoguery. The only people with democratic presidential experience are Alh. Shehu Shagari, Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in that order. You were barely a governor elect when they nominated you as vice president. As VP for eight years you did not act in an execitive capacity, you never sent any bill to NASS. |
