It is pure intellectual laziness, pure and simple.

What is the political system in China, Vietnam or Singapore?

South Africa was until recently under the most despicable political system.

Tokotaya: I took it for granted that this was rather very simple for everyone to grasp. I forget we have a few slow pokes in the house. My bad. It's quite unfair to expect everyone on Nairaland to have the same level of IQ. So here's the breakdown: A motorist was unjustly accused of murder/manslaughter. The people rose in her defence and she was vindicated. The state has since pretended as if nothing happened. This thread is to interogate that incident again, with a view to drawing attention to the dangers faced by everyone who drives on Lagos road. If you don't yet drive, there must be members of your family who do. If a charge of murder/manslaughter can be frivorously slammed against a woman, nobody who drives on Lagos roads is safe in the hands of LASTMA. It is our job to ask that something be done to those who cooked that charge. If it is you or your relatives that is slammed with manslaughter tomorrow, will this thread be useful then, Mr Eduson?
Ignore him!

[quote author=sammy.young]Cynthia's murder: Press release from the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria

This concerns the two pharmacists arrested in connection with Cynthia Osokogu's murder. Read it below
The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) joins millions of Nigerians to empathize with the family of the late Cynthia Osokogu who was lured by friends she met on facebook to Lagos where she was brutalized and eventually killed.
We also commend the Nigeria Police for the professional investigation that led to the arrest of the two young men who admitted openly to have committed the heinous crime.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) is interested in a diligent and focused investigation of this murder which continues to attract so much interest from Nigerians to the extent that all found culpable will be made to face the full weight of the law, while innocent people are not unjustly arraigned, prosecuted and punished.

We note with concern the arraignment of two young Pharmacists who were charged along with the confessed suspects for rape, armed robbery, murder and administering of obnoxious substances. These are weighty charges that reflect the gravity of the offences that led to the death of this promising lady. We at Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) indeed perceive this loss as a great one to the Osokogus, friends, colleagues and all Nigerians.

The PSN after a critical appraisal of all issues at stake wishes to reflect thus:
1) Pharmacists as responsible professionals and as legitimate custodians of medicines would continue to champion safe, responsible and rational use of medicines in Nigeria. Our projects and programmes in the last few years have always been geared towards the promotion of safe use of medicines. Having said this, it is important to realize that all medicines are poisons with inherent tendencies for abuse and misuse. Pharmacists have always exercised due diligence, caution and professional judgment in dispensing and sales of medicines. But beyond this, it is difficult to know what a person intends to do or does with the medicine after purchase especially for a premeditated criminal act that involved use of chains, padlocks, tape and other dangerous weapons.

Information available to us indicate:
a. Pharmacist Chukwunonso Maduakor was on duty in Oxpharm in the morning of Monday August 20, 2012. A gentleman approached him and requested to buy Rohypnol. Nonso asked him for a prescription and he said he does not have one. The gentleman begged and pleaded with him that he really needed it with paracetamol. Pharm. Nonso considered his request on compassionate grounds and dispensed to him one (1) card of 10 tablets of flunitrazapam along with one (1) card of Paracetamol. The gentleman goes out of the pharmacy, and then came in again with other persons, arrested Nonso and accused him of selling drug without prescription. They then took him to the Police station, he made statement and was detained for six (6) days in Festac Police Area Command. On the 7th day they transferred him to Panti from where he was taken to a Magistrate Court and was charged for conspiracy, murder, armed robbery, rape and administering obnoxious substances to Miss Cynthia Osokogu who was killed by two known persons a month earlier in July 2012.

b. The second Pharmacists, Pharm. Osita Orji is a Locum Pharmacist with Oxpharm and works evening shifts. The police visited Oxpharm on 21 August 2012 and requested to see Osita. When he got to the station, they alleged that he was the Pharmacist on duty when the suspected killer of Cynthia claimed they bought Rohypnol from Oxpharm. Osita made statement that he did not know the murderers, could not recall meeting them or selling Rohypnol to them and if they ever bought the Rohypnol from him while on duty that they must have presented him with a prescription. Osita was detained in Festac Police Area Command for two (2) days, then transferred to Panti from where he was taken to a Magistrate Court and charged

2) If the liability of the two pharmacists is limited to the sales or alleged sales of rohypnol to clients they do not know and never collaborated with in this condemnable crime then it is logical to believe that at best there might have been breaches of professional ethics. The law provides that such matters are dealt with by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria a regulatory agency of the Federal Government established by Cap. P.17 LFN 2004.

3) The drug in question Rohypnol is an intermediate acting benzodiazepam similar to diazepam (valium), nitrazepam (swidon) and bromazepam (lexotan).

Rohypnol is the brand name of the medicine flunitrazepam and is one of the benzodiazepine class of sedatives or tranquilizer drugs, of which valium or diazepam is perhaps the best known. It is used in the management of anxiety and sleep disorders (short term treatment of insomnia).

Rohypnol is made by Roche in Switzerland, registered with NAFDAC (Reg. No: 04 ? 0150) and distributed in Nigeria by Swipha Nigeria Ltd. It is not a rare drug as being reported. It is available in Nigeria.

4) The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) counsels Nigerians to monitor the use of internet facilities by youths and children particularly because of volume and nature of information available.

5) We urge the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution in the Ministry of Justice in Lagos State to immediately review the cases of these pharmacists with a view to advising the relevant authorities on how best to tackle this matter and to ensure that the innocent is not persecuted albeit unjustly.

CONCLUSION
Gentlemen of the Press, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) assures Nigerians that it will continue to work with stakeholders including relevant regulatory agencies to evolve a National Strategy that will improve the use of medicines in Nigeria. In line with this, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has dedicated September 25, 2012 to continue the dialogue on safe medicines by collaborating with the National Human Rights Commission, Regulatory Agencies, Media and other stakeholders.

One of the salient lessons inherent in the discourse is that our youth while trusting must verify the relationship they make through the social media given the abuse potential.

Once again, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the entire Osokogu family. We pray that God will grant the family the fortitude to bear this loss.

Thank you.

I dont see the reason for inviting those two elderly couple whose's son died of cancer because their testimony had nothing to do with what the american people wants from their 'president-to-be. Clint eastwood also proved to be a clown. He insulted the institution of the presidency in a lot of ways when he was having a conversation with the 'imaginary' obama. He portrayed obama as an insultive and delusional fellow. President obama is not insultive, he infact chooses his words very carefully like no other. And as for romney.. Hmm.. He didnt say anything tangible in his speech. His speech was more about personal values and not a better roadpath for the american economy. He simply has no solutions. 1) Babatunde Edu should resign immediately or be sacked by the government.

2) No matter what he must have been told, there's no law enforcement official that has the power to pronounce anyone guilty of any offense except the law court. Yes, suspects are arrested for crimes, but they are innocent until proven guilty.

3) The way he went about his claim that Yinka killed Hameed in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary leaves much to be desired of a law enforcement agent. It also shows an appalling lack of crisis management, which communication skill is an essential part of.

3) Governor Babatunde Fashola must show leadership by asking Edu to throw in the towel, he should take a cue from President Jonathan on the Barth Nnaji's case.

4) He, the governor, should sack Edu in order to re-assure we the doubters that the clamor for state police, which he is championing, is worth the while, and that the system is capable of self correction. Otherwise, we'll assume that worse things will happen under state police.

5) There should be a total overhaul of LASTMA in view of the new realities. University graduates should be considered for recruitment as it is with the Federal Road Safety Commission which is civil but firm in decisions and much more respected by many.

We are not in the jungle.

Even Gu that "pleaded" guilty to murder in China last week is not going to be executed, much less Yinka who is maintaining her innocence in a democratic Nigeria of August 2012 (with all the iphones).

It's appearing that Fashola's administration is trying to prove that they are serious with that unpopular law.

Unfortunately this case is already a wrong pick for them.

We are not talking of a Colonel in the Army being "arrested" now, we are talking of an allege murder.

Crime › Re: Banker Kills LASTMA Official In Lagos by porka: 12:24pm On Aug 12, 2012
gidig: Here is her side of the report as published by punch newspapers:

Yinka Johnson, the female banker, who was arrested on Friday by the police for allegedly crushing an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority to death while driving against traffic, has said the alleged crime was a frame-up.

The General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Babatunde Edu, had told SATURDAY PUNCH that Johnson crushed the LASTMA official, Ahmed Balogun, while trying to evade arrest in the Ajah area of the state.

Edu alleged that Johnson ran from the scene of the incident immediately into Ikota Estate, Ajah, where she was later arrested by policemen attached to Area J Command.

However, Johnson told SUNDAY PUNCH that she did not hit the LASTMA official, adding that it was another vehicle that ran over Balogun.

Johnson, who is an employee of Stanbic IBTC, is being detained along with her three-month old baby, Deborah.

Although she admitted to driving against traffic, she said where Balogun was crushed was a few metres away from her vehicle, adding that there were no blood stains on her car.

She said, “I was driving on Lekki-Epe Expressway trying to navigate to the other side of the road when I was accosted by a LASTMA official.

“The path I took was a one-way road but residents of Ikota Estate usually take it because of the ongoing road reconstruction on the alternative road.

“While I was discussing with the LASTMA official, a vehicle crushed another official a few metres away, causing commotion.”

Johnson said she did not run away from the crime scene as it was not far from her home but instead, alighted from her car during the pandemonium and called her husband.

According to her, after the LASTMA officials drove her car way, she went to the police station with her husband to report the incident.

She added that upon getting to the station, she saw her vehicle and learnt that the matter had been reported to the police.

She said, “When I got to the police station, the area commander immediately took over the case and took me to the office of the commissioner of police. I heard the state governor had already told him about the case

“When I narrated my ordeal to the CP, he did not believe my story. He immediately ordered that I should be taken to the SCID.”

A relative of the victim, who craved anonymity, said the police was biased with investigations. He said because the state government was aggrieved, it was trying to punish Johnson even though the real suspect was still at large.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the minor involved, Project Alert, a non-governmental organisation and some legal luminaries were also at the SCID on Saturday.

Maintaining her innocence, she decried the situation where her baby was being kept behind the counter with her.

“My baby has been crying because of hunger and I cannot even feed her well here. I still have my stitches from the caesarean operation,” she said.

In an appeal to the state government, Johnson urged the governor to properly investigate the matter and not just rely on what he was told by LASTMA.

She said, “I am the innocent person here, yet I am being made to pay for what I did not do.”

Edu, however, said he maintained his earlier position, adding that Johnson was the alleged killer.

A senior police officer, who craved anonymity, told our correspondent that Johnson would be charged to court on Monday for murder.
With this type of image now going viral on the Internet, Edu may well be advised to think well before alleging.

He cannot sit down in his office and allege murder.

We know for instance that LASTMA takes photograph of vehicles about to be towed with their camera.

Has he reviewed the image(s)?

The defense should demand for the image(s).

From what we are seeing here, there's no way the car would have "crushed" Balogun, (is he the one standing beside the car?) on anyone to death.

Murder is a serious thing.

If Edu and his type are the kind of people to run Babatunde Fashola's proposed state police, then we are in real trouble.

This also heightens people's fears about the intention for the clamor for state police.

Is it going to be an instrument of roping people in murder palaver like this?

Crime › Re: Banker Kills LASTMA Official In Lagos by porka: 11:55am On Aug 12, 2012
vivacious vivi: Thank you very much jare! I personally know Yinka and while I do not condone her actions of driving through one-way traffic, mutual friends have sent pictures to me of her car which was on d point of being towed when the usual lagos touts came across the road to beg the lastma guys ( thinking that she will "settle" them for services rendered). It was at this point that a shuffle ensued and d lastma guy was accidentally knocked down on d road. A speeding danfo crushed him truly. Unfortunately (and quite understandably), her hubby isn't picking my calls. I just pray justice prevails. Yinka is a mother of 3 one of whom happens to be a 2 month old. RIP to d lastma guy, but Yinka did NOT kill him!
Anyone in her position in a corporate organization should know one or two big guys in LASTMA to call in the case of any traffic issues like this instead of trying to beat security agents in their game. Except Yinka's position in the bank is Head, Driving Dept, there's no reason she should not have stopped and reason with or threaten them. Ask one of them to come into the vehicle with you and talk.

Plus, a banker should be able to afford 20k to settle LASTMA instead of arguing with a law enforcement agent. Whether or not she killed the guy now, it's her words against theirs. They, the bank and the lady will deploy more resources to get out of this unfortunate incident now than she would have used to settle.

Matthew 5:25 "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison." Proverbs 25:8 "do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame?"

Ms Yinka Johnson, when you get out of this, remember, it's better to avoid trouble quietly and wait for an opportunity to put him in real trouble next time. The reason they won't move near some guys is because they know the consequences, which include loss of job or jail term or both.

LASTMA should train its men to protect themselves and not to use their bodies to obstruct vehicles. They should know that breaks fail, and a lot of people in Lagos are crazier than they are if they think they are crazy. In this case now, there's nothing they can do to Yinka that will wake the dead guy for instance.

Meanwhile, LASTMA officials on Akin Adesola, VI (not those at Adeola Odeku junction) arbitrarily jump in front of vehicles immediately the light turns red no matter the position of the car before the light changes, they take advantage of the bad portion that prevents vehicles from moving quickly to "arrest" and demand for outrageous sums from motorists. We heard they do it every time (routinely). An investigation should be carried out and these guys should be cautioned. Appropriate agency should also repair that bad portion to allow for free movement.

Pele With Messi, now Carl lewis with Bolt..

Can't they just be as gracious as Seb Coe who went out of his way to help Rudisha cement his name as probably the best in the 800M, or Michael Johnson whom many athletes still thank for his impart on their career.
Because they know what they did while in active duty.

Extra-ordinary performances like Bolt's always raise eyebrows.

We have to wait more years for new testing reagents, methods and equipments to drug-proof Usain before we can applaud him truly.

Marion Jones similarly garnered medals on medals in time past until she was exposed by her estranged boyfriend.

She wept and wept in utter shame years later.

If Usain was an American, there is no assurance that he would not have had drug issues, probably that what Carl is saying.

Michael Johnson's case is helped, I believed, by his quiet retirement after the games.

Carl Lewis is jealous no doubt, all humans are, but Usain may well tone down his rhetoric, you cannot be calling a LEGEND and not expect some reactions one way or another.

He might be needing Carl for support in the future, having gone through a similar drug issue himself.

Does Jamaica have the needed resources to play the IOC politics when the time comes? It's doubtful.

Kobojunkie: LIE 1: You can a thriving healthcare system without 24/7 Power supply. There are hospitals(mostly catering to international workers) in that country that have so far been able to survive in that same Nigeria in all this time. Of course 24/7 electricity will help but you can have a thriving healthcare system in place without electricity.

That is not entirely true. What do you think the country has been running on all this while? teeth juice? Of course those generators that have been running all these years constitute energy and they have worked well so far. The Solar panels that have designed some streets in Lagos have yet to complain. That is energy. grin grin grin

LIE 2: Jobs can exist without 100% power. What do you think those who have been propping up our economy for years have been doing? Scrubbing their bums? grin grin grin grin Definitely it would be great to have 100% electricity but there is not enough of a reason to focus on just power, especially when you consider cost and how long it would really take to reach even 10% Power need, let alone 100%

Again, not enough of a reason to vote back in a government that seems to be one dimensional. Power does not solve all things. We all know that in our private lives, but it is just that some you are too insincere to consider reality when you try to make your points, whatever they are.
You are still on this electricity issue with this type of extreme argument in 21st century?

Politics › Re: Something Is Wrong; Power Is Improving by porka: 11:55pm On Jul 31, 2012
taharqa: Power is actually improving at least I can attest to that. In Benin City for instance, people hardly use generators much as one now expects Power for at least 20hrs a day; and this has generally been the case since the middle of last year except for a period of time early this year when there was a general problem with electricity nationally. While one would still want to be cautiously optimist about this new improved situation cos this has happened before yet we went back to the old 'no light' situation later, it seem there really are NOW signs that perhaps this improvement is for real. There definitely is a better organized and focused Power Ministry that seem to be alive to its work and a Minister who has finally resolved to deal with many of the saboteurs we have in the system. For instance, the reaction to the dip in Power generation and distribution we experienced early this year was followed by the swift sack of the heads of TCN who the Minister accused of sabotage(since then there have been improvements). There also seem to have been improved Distribution and Transmission facilities than we had before such the end-users are getting much better power than the smaller increase in Generation would suggest.
SOURCE: http://www.informationnigeria.org/2012/04/govt-fires-phcn-chiefs-over-outage.html

The really significant thing for me though is that the Power Reform Process seem to been going according to plan this time around and it seem very likely now that we would see the end of the Privatization Process before the end of October. Below is a sketch of some of the steps already taken 1. The passage of d Power Reform Bill some years ago(which laid the legal framework for the actors in the Power Sector) 2. The unbundling of PHCN into 18 holding companies last year. 3. The start of d new investment-leaning Tariff Structure this July(This honestly was the first REAL sign for me that the government was now serious in privatizing the sector). 4. The almost complete conclusion of the termination process of the current 'PHCN' workers prior to their selective re-absorption by the proposed new owners( though there seem to be some problems with the workers' Pensions at the moment). 5. The take-over of the Transmission Company by a well-known international company(MHI) so as to reorganized and manage it before handing it back to the govt(PS: Probably so that there will be less saboteurs in the system going forward, the minister insisted that MHI bring 8 senior staff who will take over the management of the company while current Nigerian management staff act as their assistants for the 3-year period) 6. The close of the submission of d bidding process for sale of d 17 Generation holding companies two weeks ago. 7. And just yesterday, the close of the submission of bids for the Distribution companies, again on schedule.

Just yesterday the govt insisted that the time-line WILL be followed(as they seem to have been doing) and have re-started the important dates again:

"Briefing newsmen at the end of the NCP meeting on Monday, the Director General for Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE), Ms Bolanle Onagorowa, said that the July 31 deadline for the submission of the bids for the Distribution Company of the PHCN remained sacrosanct as the Council vowed to strictly adhere to its timeline on the exercise...BPE boss also stated that the Council would meet on August 24 to reveal the bidders that passed the technical evaluation for the Generation companies’ bidders. She also disclosed that the Council would meet on September 11 to reveal the list of bidders that passed technical evaluation for the Distribution Companies.
Onagoruwa also stated that the financial bids opening for the Generation companies will be on September 25, while financial bid opening for the Distribution companies will be on October, 8. She also added that the Council would give final approval for the commercial bids for Distribution Companies on October, 22.

SOURCE: http://www.worldstagegroup.com/worldstagenew/index.php?active=news&newscid=5519&catid=26

One can imagine what will happen if this process concludes and Power generation and Distribution is privatized. It is also great that States have finally been granted approvals to distribute the Power it generates directly to its citizens- this is not just great news for states like Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom but will hopefully also create some sought of competition amongst other states who would then be 'blackmailed' into generating Power for their own people(either solely or more likely in conjunction with Private Investors).

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT THIS PROCESS IS SEEN TO ITS LOGICAL CONCLUSION AS THIS MAY BE THE MOST IMPORTANT PROCESS THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT HAVE EVER TAKEN , AND IT IS HAPPENING BEFORE OUR VERY EYES. We should not forget these dates(August24, September 11, September 25, October 8, October 22) and should insist that they are followed through please. This is where we need the Critics the most.

If anything, we are lower than where we were in January of 2012. The fact is the numbers do not agree with your claim. We are currently lower on average than we were in , say February 2012, January 2012, in December 2011, in September 2011 (note these are dates I am able to somewhat verify average generation/outs into grid for ).
IT IS A FACT THAT THERE'S AN IMPROVEMENT IN ELECTRICITY IN NIGERIA IN THE LAST ONE MONTH.

This is what people can see. This is not spiritual.

If there has been blackout since then too, people will report the FACT.

It may not be there next month, we'll wait and see and say the FACT then.

I also mentioned that it may be due to some reasons.

Your figures may be correct, but there's light in Nigeria than before.

So what should we say, that there's more darkness than before because of the generation figures?

It may just be because there's now better efficiency at distributing those m-watts, may be.

You can call your people back home to verify.

For the time being, "...and God said, Let there be light, and there was light."

It is great to celebrate that you now have ice in your fridge, and that is good but don't pretend that then means the situation has improved past your building or your small area. For you to enojoy the light you have now, some other Nigerians, living in that same Nigeria, are having to go without.

The strangled power IS YET TO BE RELEASED to the public. The only thing that has happened(notice not future tense) is that PHCN was broken up, earilier in the year, into 18 companies. In fact, the news is that a company in Canada will start working on take over of the transmission arm TODAY, not before today. So there is no way for you to feel the effect BEFORE THE FACT.

Like I said, we need to mature as a people, and a nation to the point where we start to consider the big picture and not think the Nation is all about us and our little world. Power in Nigeria has not improved even though power supply to your area, due to rationing seems to have been increased.
It is not yet upto what we need or want, but electricity supply in Nigeria is improving.

It may be due to many factors, e.g. rainy season, when hydro-dams are full, we await the dry season to verify that.

But is has improved. It is a FACT.

This is good.

I am in support of Governor Aregbesola on this.

Executive Governor is meaningless.

The same goes for the nonsense term, His Excellency, HE or some form of it, including Comrade Governor.

Mr Governor is enough. Mr President is sufficient.

Another meaningless thing is having police or army officers stand behind the president or governors.

What are they doing there?

Are those governors or the president better protected than David Cameron or President Obama for instance?

We need more people in high authority condemning Boko Haram without ceasing.

Kudos to Mr Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.

Delafruita: you want the atlanta people to get involved in an issue that has since been concluded and of which their letter states without ambiguity the standing of femi gbaja before them.
femi gbaja is not accused of misdemeanour,a record of a misdemeanour for which punishment has been meted and served is been brought to light because he moved to impeach the retardeen

is bill jefferson clinton the same as william jefferson clinton?
is richard cheney the same person as dick cheney?
is goodluck ebele jonathan the same as goodluck ebele azikiwe jonathan?
people shorten their names all over the world.some do it for election purposes.bukola saraki added abubakar to his name when he wanted to run for president.gbajabiamila is an influential name in lagos and it makes perfect sense to use it in place of gbaja especially for someone going into politics.
as for its legal use,you have to ask INEC if he gave them reason to doubt his identity

if there's any suspicion of dual identity, responsibility lies with INEC and the nigerian police.if they havent made any move, its because he satisfied their curiosity

nobody can impeach a president.only the national assembly can.however,it takes one person to move the motion and this time it was femi gbaja and he is been attacked just to show how desperate jonathan is to be a pharaoh.
femi has revealed what he has revealed.if you need more info, report to the police or efcc

already answered

where is the evidence that he agreed to be sanctioned in exchange for criminal charges?dont make assumptions.he was handed the full punishment for the misdemeanour which is 36months suspension.it might have resulted in criminal charges if he had refused to respond to the summon but he did
You are mixing things here.

William Jefferson Clinton is different from William Jefferson Clint

Richard Cheney is not the same as Richard Chen

Goodluck Jonathan is another personality from Goodluck Jona

If Clinton or Cheney's legal documents bear anything different from their official names without an affidavit I am sure you know that the Republican Party and the Democratic Party respectively would have shredded their political careers since. Sorry, you cannot spin this. It is criminal. Let him arrange for an affidavit quickly and publish in the newspaper.

I agree that no one (single) individual can impeach the president, but you must also know that impeachment is political and it is politically normal to rubbish your opponent's records, especially when he is the mover of an impeachment motion against you.

Delafruita: 1. if his accusers have reason to believe he has been dishonest, then they should feel free to report to the nigerian police or interpol.it would be foolhardy to expect him to begin to reel out names all in a bid to assuade the venomous appetite of a peedeepee government with nothing better to do

2.is he to supposed to include in his rebuttal the fact that he reported or did not report the matter to the police?

3.there are cases where people just want issues resolved especially when the culprit is someone close to them.going by his rebittal, its apparent the paralegal was someone he placed enormous trust in.its safe to assume its someone he held in high esteem.if i were in his shoes,my priority wont be bringing the person to book,it will simply be clearing my name, taking the punishment and moving forward.

4.same as 3.in addition, people take responsibilities even for actions they have delegated

5.would you care to enlighten us as to how he used 2 names interchangeably?the man has been in the NASS since 2003 and since then has been addressed as gbajabiamila though most still shorten it to gbaja for easier pronunciation.the fact that he had gbaja on his passport isnt strange.or you expect him to burn all his previous documents?

6.mr man,he never changed his name.he simply shortened it which is common in this part of the world.my grandfather's family name is alashonla, when he got to the US,he decided to shorten it to alash.since then all his children either use alashonla or alash.they dont need an official change of name for that.

7.do you realise that INEC also requires a means of identification?do you also realise that the same passport would have been presented as a means of identification?do you also realise that all his previous documents would also be presented to INEC?

8.you cant jump to conclusions because you dont know when the issue was reported and when the letter was mailed

9.it seems you dont understand the chronology of events.he came to nigeria in 2002,won the election into the NASS in 2003,went to georgia in 2007 and was suspended for 36months.as you can see,as at the time he was contesting, there was no "alleged scam".by 2007,there was no "alleged scam" because the issue had been resolved.by 2011,there was no "alleged scam because the issue had been resolved

10.the "allaged scam" was published in a book about the lawmaker's foray into politics.on a rough estimate, such a book might take 1-2 years to write, proofread, edit, publish and launch.he didnt report it last month,it was included in the book right from the day it was written.

11.he is the leader of the opposition which is the same as minority leader.dare i say,he has done a good job,the best minority leader we have had since 1999
1) Absolute disclosure from Femi Gbaja or Femi Gbajabiamila will assist him when his so-called accusers take up your challenge.

2) Yes sir, because he said he could not trace the supposed paralegal. Missing persons are reported to the police. Especially when he is with your client's money.

3) Yes, I mentioned earlier that such cases may include PLEA BARGAIN. Is this a PLEA BARGAIN? We should know. People settle out of court all the time, but it comes with consequences such as this. Plus, part of clearing your name is helping the authority to bring culprits to book. The high esteem angle you are introducing is interesting, does it mean he bit the bullet for a bigger fish?

4) Yes, that is a great leadership quality. Another enviable leadership quality is transparency. So we won't think he is hiding something, he needs to disclose everything.

5) a) He said it himself. His passport bears Gbaja, (a passport is a legal document) and he uses Gbajabiamila with INEC. INEC's return certificate is a legal document. b) His published letter purportedly coming from State Bar of Georgia referred to him as Gbaja in 2010.

6) If he had submitted his passport as his means of identification, then INEC is either inept or corrupt, may be it was part of INEC's shenanigans in '03. The fact is that you cannot even register for a degree programme in Nigeria with that kind of double identity except you support it with an affidavit. You cannot be mobilized for NYSC with dual a identity, you cannot open a bank account in Nigeria with a dual identity etc. It is fraudulent, it is criminal.

7) You need a supporting legal document sworn to under oath to prove that you Lagbaja Alash is the same as Lagbaja Alashonla. The two are not the same. Another Lagbaja Alashoadura could present himself as yourself to claim he is Lagbaja Alash. Using your logic, it is perfectly normal to have Goodluck Jona in passport and Goodluck Jonathan in INEC form, the two names are different. Remember the Evan Enwerem and Evans Enwerem saga? Even with your logic, Femi has variants, Olufemi is different from Obafemi or Ogunfemi.

cool No I cannot, so when was the case reported? He said he doesn't have anything to hide. You cannot claim not to have anything to hide and then hold important information back.

9) I assume you mean that he went to Georgia in 2005, because that was what he said in his rebuttal. Then he didn't disclose it in '07 because it was trashed before the election? Fair enough! But he considered it necessary to publish it in his book in 2012 to show he has nothing to hide? That was five good years after the election and one clear year after another election in 2011. That is politically dishonest.

10) I live that to his constituents.

11) Yes, he should be confident of his status as the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we operate a presidential system not a parliamentary system. Nancy Pelosi was the immediate past Speaker of the US Congress and she is confidently referred to as the Minority Leader presently. (Would Gbaja or Gbajabiamila not issue an impeachment notice to Goodluck Jonathan if he had referred to himself as the Head of State or Chancellor or Prime Minister of Nigeria instead of the President? Just wondering.)

Maybe in tandem with other devices, it would make for an effective counter measure.

Anyway why is that called a 'Robot'? grin
It was obviously termed robot by the OP.

If you take your time to read the article he posted to support his claim, the army chief used the word SIMPLE. Robot cannot be called simple.

dayokanu: 1. The Atlanta legal board have the needed information and in case you need it, you can request from the Atlanta Legal board. Gbaja wont be putting the name of another individual out in public without the paralegals consent or the boards mandate.

2. The board which is an authority already knew about the case and took the necesary action prescribed by law.

3. Ask the Atlanta legal body of what was used to decide the case.

4. His legal practice was fined. And his license with Gbajas name which was the owner was suspended. Just like a hospital can be fined if one of the baby doctors committed an infraction of the professional ethics.

5. There is nothing incriminating about using a shorter version of your long name. I know a family of Olowokandi some members changed their name to Olowo and use it in all docs in the US, while in Nigeria still retain their fathers popular name and identity.

6. No you dont. The name your family choose to call you would never change even if you use something different anywhere else. People knew their family name. His passport is Gbaja, career Gbaja, but for recognition in his constituency he choose the more identifiable Gbajabiamila

7. See above. INEC records because Gbajabiamila is his family name that would win him votes in Lagos.

8. Did you find out when the client forwarded the claims to the Georgia board. If someone stole my money in 2002, and I dont report till 2004, How would they send my lawyer a letter? Ask the Georgia board when they got the complaint and when they wrote to him.

9. He answered to the body that he was answerable to which was the Georgia Board and he went to Atlanta to make representation.

10. He went to Atlanta, served the punishment in a timely manner

11. It means whatever you term it to be

Thanks for your prompt reply, however there are even more questions than answers in your response

1) What is he afraid of in naming the allege crime suspect, if he was so quick in passing the bulk why shift the responsibility of naming the suspect on the US authority.

2) It seems you are hiding something still, because you published a letter purportedly from Georgia but can't simply answer the question. More proofs...

3) Can you help Femi's case by getting the Atlanta people to respond, since he's being accused of misdemeanor.

4) Ok, now we know he was a rookie attorney in Atlanta in 2002. Or... explain the analogy.

5) Sir, there's everything dishonest and criminal about using different variants of your name in legal documents, this is not some appellation or brand name, we are talking of a passport and official records, a single person cannot answer two names, it is fraudulent, sir. He needs to address this, it is fraudulent, it is a crime. By the way, hope you sought the Olowos or Olowokandis' consent before using their names here, according to your theory in (1).

6) Gbaja and Gbajabiamila are two different names. How do we know it is not Gbajamija or some other variants. Ordinary Gbaja Femi and Femi Gbaja are two different names much less Femi Gbaja and Femi Gbajabiamila. Sorry you can't spin this. It's illegal. Period!

7) Let him go and swear an affidavit and stop living a double life. All human beings are recognized officially by one name until they change it legally, and all former document remain valid. He will publish it in a newspaper.

cool We want to know every single detail of this case. Any one who wants to impeach the president of a whole country must come clean, that's the catch.

9) You did not answer the question. Did he disclose this misdemeanor to his constituents before seeking their votes in 2003?

10) See above. If he didn't then he must have hidden something from them until last month.

11) Thank you, he's officially a Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, it is not something to be ashamed of, that is a ranking position in the House.

12) By the way, the tone of the letter sounds like a PLEA BARGAIN. It is similar to what many Nigerians (perhaps including Femi himself) have vociferously condemned when it was adopted by the EFCC on some alleged corrupt officials, i.e. he agreed to be sanctioned in exchanged for criminal charges to be dropped. It is perfectly legal bro. Just saying we need to be told that was what happened, before the "PDP" tells us, to show that he has "nothing to hide".

Questions for Femi Gbaja (or Femi Gbajabiamila)

1) What is the name of the paralegal? We need names at this point.

2) Did he report the case to the police in the US?

3) If he did, are there proofs? Police report, newspaper cuttings etc.

4) If he didn't why admit guilt for something he knew nothing about? Big question...

5) Name change is common in Nigeria as every where, but is he aware that using two different names interchangeably is rare and criminal?

6) Does he know that when you change your name you ceased to answer the former name while all other documents remain valid?

7) If he does, why is he still Gbaja on his passport ( a legal document) and Gbajabiamila on INEC records (another legal document)?

cool Does it take over a year (more than 3 years in this case)for letters to get to a forwarding address from the US to Nigeria?

9) Did he disclose this allege scam to his constituents before the election, to show he has "nothing to hide"?

10) Borrowing the logic of some people here questioning why they waited for him to move the motion for impeachment before bringing this out, can Femi Gbaja (or Gbajabiamila) tell us why he waited till last month to publish this allege scam? Or is he just remembering he has nothing to hide by disclosing an allege crime that took place over ten years ago?

11) And then what does the LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION in the House of Representative stand for? Is it the same thing as the Minority Leader officially recognized?

Yes, you are right but only for the first paragraph.

The second paragraph is ambiguous.
It will not pass grammar scrutiny or grammar test.
Oga, it is not that ambiguous

That's how government letters are ended in Nigeria.

I have seen several of them.

This is just pure ignorance on the part of many Nigerians.

It's a pity most guys here don't know the workings of government.

Nevertheless, the letter head reads Department of Security Services (DSS) while the body still carries State Security Service (SSS).

They need to chose one, DSS or SSS.

Did Tunde Bakare honor DSS invitation?

He's not above the law.

Sun of god: Eket (Akwa Ibom) – Mr Yakubu Attah, Zonal Commanding Officer of the FRSC Zone 6 Command of the commission said on Monday that the commission had acquired an equipment to check over-speeding by drivers.

Attah, an Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Zone 6 in Port Harcourt, said in an interview in Eket that the commission was also poised to check over-loading.

Attah disclosed that the commission recently took delivery of hand-held radar guns to monitor motorists who drove beyond speed limits.

”Over-speeding and over-loading are of serious concern to the FRSC.

”Recently, the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive, Mr Osita Chidoka, procured some hand-held radar guns to clamp down on over-speeding drivers.

“So over-speeding will soon be a thing of the past, all we need to do with the new drivers’ licence is to take your number and arrest you on the point of renewing your vehicle papers.

“So you may over-speed but you are not far from us, ” he said.

On the recommendation that the FRSC should be scrapped or merged with the police, Attah said that such calls would not be justified, in view of the strategic nature of the commission on safety of commuters on the nation’s roads.

“It is not justifiable because FRSC has come a long way, FRSC is a household name, above all, the FRSC is the lead agency in terms of road safety administration and management.

“It is not justifiable at all, I am of the view that the government should have a re-think, ” he said.

The Zonal Commanding Officer said that he was committed to boosting the morale of the commission’s officers and men as a way of improving their productivity.

He said that Chidoka appreciated the sacrifices being made by the commission’s officers in discharging their duties. (NAN)

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/07/frsc-acquires-equipment-to-check-over-speeding/
If the bold is how to apprehend offenders of over-speeding then we are in trouble.

Will someone tell them the reason speed limits are set is to prevent injuries and fatalities?

If they have to wait till someone comes forward to renew his/her papers many people would have died or maimed for life.

FRSC has a great success in at least one important thing, seat belt fastening.

It is now a giving that drivers and front seat passengers fasten their belts as soon as they enter the vehicle. It was not always so.

They can borrow the template in this particular speed limit thing.

The reason, major reason, why people over-speed is because many people don't know the speed limit.

People also do not know the consequences of over speeding.

Many people don't know that the maximum speed limit in Nigeria is 100km/per hour.

They should roll out massive sensitization programs before acquiring hand-held-gadgets.

They should follow it up with conspicuous signs showing speed limits for different roads.

They must put in place better mechanism to apprehend an offended as against waiting for them to show up, probably after several months when some great damage might have been caused.

They can communicate via radio to the patrol team at other post, stating a speed limit breaker's particulars.

It's of no use to anyone waiting for several months before apprehending an offender, by then he might just have killed himself and/or others.
