Unfortunately this is a war they cannot win. Unemployment is bound to be on the increase as mechanization sweeps into every sector . It didn't start today and in years to come it will only get worse.

There is always going to be a bad side to every good news. It is rarely a win win situation

It was a ponzi scheme, CEOs never lose. Know that and know peace. They always wait for the investors to join enmass and with huge amount of money after gain their trust over a period of time.
May be you guys know better than the people who worked with them grin grin grin

Years back as a student in the university of Ibadan I was running a poultry farm project simultenously with my academics. This was 2006/2007.
Most of the broiler projects I ran at those times were partly financed by teaching and non teaching staffs of the university who were convinced I could be trusted. My Proposed ROI was 20%-25%, in 3months. And trust me, it was Fair for me, although a bit tough.
That is to say for every 20k I recieved I paid back 25k in 3months.

This actually worked out fine for several cycles of production, until one very unfortunate cycle that saw me losing several of the birds to disease conditions despite biosecurity measures and all the right measures taken.

Now you see where the problem is?

I lost my capital plus the capital that was borrowed. And remember I still have to pay in back plus interest after 3months.
I had to liquidate some assets that are not related to the project in order to pay up my investors. Which was a quite painful experience.

This is just a simple example of what may have gone wrong in these kind of investments.

I know you will talk about insurance and all, but how much do u think insurance company charge to insure livestock farms ? How easy do you think it really is in servicing the insurance, make profits and still be able to pay the ROI promised at the end of the day? Or how easy is it to claim funds back from the insurance company at the right time before investors start breathing down your neck calling you scammer?

I am not denying the fact that some of these companies where scams from the very start. But don't go on to conclude that every last one of them were Ponzis.

Every business needs funding, and crowd funding was a very nice opportunity at that time.

Agritech investments that year grin

Most of them ran down due to debt I guess not necessarily scam, intention to scam or ponzi it was more of crowd funding.

The ROIs they promised seemed not sustainable in the long run and then there was one Sec policy that came later on.

Then came the emails upon emails with orishirishi explanations and then they just went quiet.

I still feel the problem was from the ROIs, 15-20% seemed much if you ask me some were even higher grin.

I want to think if there are still any one of them in business (which I doubt) it will be the ones with max 10%RO1.

There is/was an agritech investment thread on NL.

God bless you. You have said it all
Their ROI was unsustainable on the long run, and unfortunately for them so many came out at the same time, leading to competition among them. So they started increasing ROI to look more appealing to investors than their competitions. Unknown to them, they were digging their own graves.

Many of them were building the business and farms and bidding time to stabilize. And stabilizing such businesses takes years. Unfortunately, the SEC new rule broke the camel's back.

Sorry guys, they didn't scam anyone they just ran into debt and can't pay back and can't withstand investors again so they had to skedaddle.

Just move on to another scheme

That is the unfortunate fact. However only few will believe it. Wait till you set up business with people's money and run into problem with the business, then you will know exactly how the CEOs of some of these companies are feeling.

Yes it is true that some companies are set up with the simple aim of scamming, however it isn't all companies. Some had good long term vision and intentions but still ended up failing.

@OP
I have to admit that your insights were very excellent and your Observations made alot of of sense. You warmed my heart with your philosophy.
However I see a few issues with your theological deductions.
For instance, when you say that prayer in Ukraine or North Korea, will have no impact on the political scenes of these nations.
If prayers have no impact on the political climates of our countries, then why did the New Testament instruct us in Timothy to pray for those who in power. The new testament teaches us that prayer can induce peace in the nation.

What do you say Sir/Madam?

Thanks
The book of 1tim 2:1-2.
" intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

This was the word of Paul.
Now I believe you remember how much persecution Paul suffered. Despite praying for heads of all these nations.
How he was imprisoned over and over again until his execution in Rome. Or have we forgotten the persecutions of the early christians.
Yes we are enjoined to pray for the heads of the nations and people in authority, but that
does not mean a christian would be free of persecutions.

Jesus Christ did not promise any Christian a life free of persecutions.
Yes you may pray, but expect the persecutions.

Let's Read Matt 10: from verse 16 down to 23

16, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. 17 Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. 18 On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, 20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Emphasis on verse 23. If you are persecuted in one place, flee to another.
That is the word of Christ himself.

The issue we have now is that we have redesigned the words of the bible to suit our fleshy desire. We have re-tuned Christianity to mean "sweet peaceful alluring rich life" free from adversaries and troubles.
Forgetting not the words of Christ in John 16:33
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Your words are bogus....i can show you 20 verses where God is interested in who becomes king, or head of a nation. Most of our pastors are fake.

Lol. I am sure most of your quotations will be related to isreal. grin
That is the mistake we make as christians. The Christian faith and journey is differnt from the journey of the isrealites.
All the king installations that God masterminded where to ensure his promise to Abraham and David be fulfilled. the prophecy of Christ coming to the world.

All those have been fulfilled . Christ has come and has accomplished God's plan. There is no more chosen nation under heaven. All nations are now the same. We are all chosen people through Christ Jesus.

I am sure you can see isreal today. They don't even care about Christianity. Neither do they spiritualize their politics. Or believe God is to chose a president for them.

God will not chose a leader for you. You will chose one yourselves . And if majority of you chose "Good" , then "Good" shall rule thee. But if majority of you chose the reverse, the reverse shall rule thee.
Religion / Why You Shouldn't Be Surprised All Political Prophecies Failed. by Porksupplyib: 12:41pm On May 29, 2023
Today is inauguration day and I am sure many Nigerians christians are still finding it hard to believe that things are going through smoothly, despite all they have heard from several so called spiritual heads. smiley
Don't be surprised. Life will go on.

Truth remains that Many prophecies are not God given, despite what many say.

Nothing under the sun has ever been perfectly fair from inception. So don't expect it to start today.

Your religious beliefs are good, at least it gives you a reason to have hope even in this messy world.
However, do not make the mistake of thinking God is the one scheming things always.

Many good people have died before their time. Many millions have perished due to wars created by one man's selfish desire, lots of Innocents have perished paying for crimes they didn't commit. I can go on and on.
Do you think God planned those wars or that he wanted the millions to perish?🤷🏼‍♂️

As a christian I can tell you without bating an eyelid the truth which we all want to ignore. And that is; 1.)This world is not your home. You are just passerbys.
2; God is not scheming anything in any country for anyone."

3.) the devil is the ruler of this world." He masterminds things as he wants.

And for those reason, don't expect things to always go perfectly well. Or expect the truth to always prevail.
Depending on your location in this world, various master plans are at work.
In Africa, it is corruption and what have you. In developed countries it is perversion and other form of madness. Anywhere you go, it is there. So don't be surprised.

Don't waste your time praying that God should change it. Cus he won't.
The earlier you accept that the better for you. He has done his part in creating a way out to save the world. Christ has come and died. You shall be saved if you believe and obey his will.

Now don't start believing being saved means being free of troubles.

Christ did not promise you a smooth journey on earth. He only promised you grace to be with you through all the issues.

Nigerians should stop decieving themselves, believing God will chose a president for them. Or that he will install someone who will change things.
God does not install presidents in the world governed by the devil.
Stop fooling yourselves.

No matter how much you pray, you will not get that answer cus you pray without knowledge.

Imagine christians in the US and UK praying that LGBT laws be abolished and that it should be made a taboo. They will only be wasting their time.

Imagine christians in Ukraine praying that the war with Russia should not happen. They would have been wasting their time.
Imagine christians in China, North Korea, Afghanistan (and other such countries) praying that a president that the countries should recognise them and give them rights to practice their religion freely. I am sure you know that is almost a waste of prayer time.

The power has been given to Man to make decisions for himself. And he will. The devil was chased from heaven and now he lives here in Earth and rules among men.
Lots of evil will prevail.

As a believer, hope and pray for grace to live your life in peace and tranquility on the surface of the earth all the days of your life. Remove spirituality from politics.

Remember 1tim 2:1-2.
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

Pray for all men for Kings in authority. That we may lead a quiet and peaceful life.

Christianity is an individual race. God isn't interested in national stories or who is King or president.

Always remember, This is not your home. Heaven is the goal.

May we all enjoy Tinubu's tenure in Jesus name.

God bless you.

No hands will ever be on deck!

It will remain a vicious cycle of mediocrity and corruption in high places shielded by the same people suffering the consequences who would rather protect their tribesmen than unite to correct them!

The issue with Africa is much deeper than that of these countries you have highlighted as examples above.
We are divided by tribes and religion. Whatever tribal division fails to achieve, religion gives the final blow.

It will be almost impossible to see us get full liberation from our adversaries.

4. Lastly, this is an advice for all of us out there.
Don't be afraid to stand out and speak up. Don't feel it is better to hide and say nothing instead of talking and messing up. 😁
You will be remembered in life for the actions you take (Whether they turn out positive or negative really doesn't matter)

Yes Tiamiyu made an error. But still he took the challenge. He is much more popular that he was few days ago. And whether you like it or not, he is going places. All these noise will pass. If he doesn't let it wear him down, he will rise up from the ashes and go higher.
Be ready to make mistakes. Mistakes are part of life.
Tiamiyu has made his today, hopefully he will learn from it. Go out and make yours. Stand out. Do something. Change your world.
God bless you.

Feel free to add yours in the comments below.

3.) Always consult people above you for their opinion and advice when you are faced with a new challenge or task.
Even the bible said "...in the multitude of counsels there is safety"
Prov 11:14

In a live Facebook interview organized by Daddy freeze, one lady asked Tiamiyu if he asked anyone's advice before granting the BBC interview, and he responded in the negative with so much lengthy words, trying to justify his competence experience and all.
I personally strongly believe if Tiamiyu had sought the advice and opinion of others more knowledgeable , he would have been more prepared for the interview and would have known how to avoid falling into the pitfall that was set for him.
We must learn that we are not all knowing. Seek advice , hear others opinions. Be teachable. Be humble. And you will become a better person.

Always have it at the back of your mind that you are representing something greater than yourself at all times.

I believe if Tiamiyu had put this at the back of his mind he would have understood that he needed to chose his words more carefully. You are a representative of your family, your religion, your tribe, your country etc at every place or spot you find yourself. What you do or say there must market those entities you are representing in a good light.

That is the mistake we all still make in this country. We paint ourselves dirty in public, showcase our inadequacies online and in our movies, and we expect the outside world to respect us. It is not possible.

No one is saying you should lie. But be diplomatic about the truth. Even UK has got lots of issues. Emigration is a worldwide issue. People are leaving the UK as we speak And heading to a much condusive /better country. Don't go and paint it to others out there that Nigeria is the worst place to be.
Or that everyone is suffering and only looking for a way out.
That would be very wrong.

As a matter of fact everyone moving to the UK are not doing so to avoid hardship or to leave and not return. It would be very presumptuous to say so. That was Tiamiyu's mistake.
He had an opportunity to market the country. He could have emphasised the fact that Nigerians have got so much skill, talents and potentials, and for that reason those willing to emigrate into the UK should be given a much softer landing. And that it would be unfair of the UK government to create separations between families with the new policy they are cooking.
Unfortunately he decided to say the raw "truth" on air. Resulting in all these uproars.

I have read several online comments from Nigerians pouring out blame and insult on EMDEE over his quite "expository and provocating comments which he made about migrating Nigerians in his recent interview with the BBC.

Although I do not completely share same sentiments as many on this issue, I however agree that EMDEE really goofed big time and deserves some attacks he is getting.
However, let's not be carried away by our anger, but let us also endevour to learn a thing or 2 from this particular blunder. So that we will not find ourselves in the kind of mess Tiamiyu is in presently.
For I believe every error in life is a lesson
for the wise.

1.) Be careful with the media. The media has so much power. It can make you or break you. I am sure Tiamiyu must have been very excited at the idea of being invited by the BBC for the interview. Not knowing it will create so much issue for him later on. Yes, it is an admirable and wonderful opportunity to be called to speak by a powerful platform such as the BBC, but you have to understand and weigh the implications. It is not just about you always.

It is not every engagement you must say YES to. It is not every post you must comment on. It is not every topic you must raise online. Or every thing that must be said online. We have to be very careful with the media.

For a fact, many of us have done much worse than Tiamiyu in de-marketing this nation, and in exposing our dirty linen in public, but we feel Tiamiyu has done worse because his was on BBC. Lol.
Each time you go online and post that Nigeria is a slum or a zoo, you fail to realise that others around the world see what you post. They visualize you based on what you call yourselves.
Your words are powerful. Once let out they either Make or break. Be careful.

The 10 commandments is still among the old laws, and I just showed you where Jesus says we should keep the laws to make eternity, yet you prefer the words of Paul. Okay. It's your choice, I don't need to extend the argument, . I am already aware that the incorrect doctrine of Grace has spread very much, God help us all.

Christ never said keep the law to make eternity. Please avoid making that mistake. If you want to know the laws, dive into the book of Leviticus. Take all the chapters one by one and then you will know the laws.

Let me drop chapter 17 for you maybe you will understand.

(LEVITICUS 17 1-14)

1
The LORD said to Moses,
2
"Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: `This is what the LORD has commanded:
3
Any Israelite who sacrifices an ox, [1] a lamb or a goat in the camp or outside of it
4
instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD in front of the tabernacle of the LORD--that man shall be considered guilty of bloodshed; he has shed blood and must be cut off from his people.
5
This is so the Israelites will bring to the LORD the sacrifices they are now making in the open fields. They must bring them to the priest, that is, to the LORD, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and sacrifice them as fellowship offerings. [2]
6
The priest is to sprinkle the blood against the altar of the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat as an aroma pleasing to the LORD.
7
They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols [3] to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come.'
8
"Say to them: `Any Israelite or any alien living among them who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice
9
and does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD--that man must be cut off from his people.
10
"`Any Israelite or any alien living among them who eats any blood--I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from his people.
11
For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.
12
Therefore I say to the Israelites, "None of you may eat blood, nor may an alien living among you eat blood."
13
"`Any Israelite or any alien living among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth,
14
because the life of every creature is its blood. That is why I have said to the Israelites, "You must not eat the blood of any creature, because the life of every creature is its blood; anyone who eats it must be cut off."

That up there 🖕 is an example of the law as regards how to make sacrifices, what to eat and what not to eat. Those were the kind of life the isrealites lived then.
But that is not the life of a Christian. Christ said in his word it is not a thing that a man eats that defiles him but that which comes from out of his mouth. Matt 15:11.

So you see my sister, Christ has died so that we may be freed from the burden of the law. No Christian should put himself under the burden again. And if you want to follow the law, don't be selective. Dive in properly grin
Start by offering burnt offering for all your sins , set up stone alters unto the Lord your God. Practice an eye for an eye. Etc. I am sure you will enjoy yourself. God bless you. grin

Lol
Permit me to state this little mistake many still make concerning the gospel of christ.

The gospel of christ isn't about what you eat or what you wear. It is about what comes out from inside. As explained by Jesus in Matt 15:11
"Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."
Same way it isn't what a man or woman wears that defies the body, but what is within.

We fail to realise that what is looking abnormal to you here in Nigeria might just be normal tradition in another country of the world. Talk about dressing, many area of the world adorn their women with earring and nose rings from puberty. That is their normal dressing. Some use leg bracelets etc. Talk of hairdo, what your pastors call demonic hairdo here in Nigeria is what the spirit filled devoted American pastor is rocking to the pulpit. grin
Yet you are calling it sinful hairdo. grin

I am not in any form of denial, because I clearly understand the fact Paul was preaching. It isnt dortrine. He was preaching about modesty.
He didn't say, if u wear gold you won't please God or you won't be a good Christian.

Please let us stop cooking dortrines out of everything we read in the bible.

"Beautify yourself not with gold, braids etc but with goodliness."

This does not mean DO NOT BEAUTIFY YOURSELF.

Smiles.
Adorning themselves not with gold etc but with good deeds....

Take a deep breath and let's break It down.
To adorn yourself means to beautify yourself.

Paul was simply admonishing that the women adorn themselves with good deeds instead of physical apparels. Which simply implies pay more attention to Godliness .

This does not in anyway mean DONT WEAR BRAIDS OR DRESS BEAUTIFUL.

False preaching. Many of the laws of old testament stands. Even Jesus affirms it in many passages of the new testament.

Mat. 19:16-19: and one came unto him and said "good master what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life " . And Jesus said unto him, if thou will enter into eternal life, keep the commandments . Thou shall not commit adultery, though shall not commit murder, thou shall not steal, bear false witness........

Lol. You are confusing the laws with the 10 commandments.
Please don't make that mistake. They are way different.

When you say several laws still stands till date, you are very wrong. For it is written in
Romans 6:14
"For sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace."

A Christian is under no law but under grace. Christ has fulfilled the law with his death. It will be pure intentional slavery for a Christian to refuse the grace Christ has given him/her and decide to put him/herself under the laws.

2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.

8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I .

11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

The title of this chapter is "INSTRUCTIONS ON WORSHIP"

Read the entire verses of the chapter and you will understand the fact that these were admonishions of a teacher of the word. And these teachings were for both the men and the women. The key word in verse 9 is "decency". Decency in place of worship.
This does not mean don't look beautiful or don't want earrings.

It states and I quote;

*"I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God"

This does not mean don't want expensive clothes or don't wear gold!
It is simple English.

It is simply stating that women should pay more attention to Godliness and good deeds rather that their outward appearance, and to practice modesty.
Simple!

There is no where it is recorded that those that wear earrings can't please God or won't make heaven.

I will equally love to point out the fact that we must not be biased or selective in our teachings. You can't face the women alone and leave the men. The chapter has lots of admonisions for the men folds which I am so sure they never bother to emphasize.

Being a Christian by name or affiliation is very much differnt from being a Christian. To be candid less than 10% of those who call themselves Christians are Christians.
So don't get it confused.
Even your pastor may not be a Christian. You heard right.

And don't be decieved, going to church doesn't make you a Christian. The devil goes to church. He sends his agents there.

The problem we have today is that people are still confusing Judaism with Christianity.

The laws of the old testament were plain and direct. Do this, Don't do this, wear this, don't wear this, etc
The books of Moses are filled with them.
All these laws were fulfilled when Christ died. As a Christian you no longer live under the law, but under grace. So be you gentile or Jew, Christ has died for you. You are no longer under the law.

It would be nice if christians understand that every part of the bible is not for them. Yes it is important you know the lives of people and their relationship with God before Christ came so that we may appreciate the coming and sacrifice made by Christ, but you will be making irrelevant the huge sacrifice of Christ if you decide to remain slaves to the law when you have been set free from it.

This is infarct why we have diverse conflicting dortrines under the Christian canopy. Everyone just dives into the bible and proscribes one interesting dortrine from a corner and imposes it on his flocks. May God help us all

Cryptocurrency

Cryptocurrency shouldn't have been taken as a business. That is the mistake many of us make. It is a long term investment. Invest when the market crashes(bear market) and cash out on your investment when market pumps.(Bull market/Bullrun)
