Very correct, especially when you pray amiss. I worked in a popular telecom company years back. I wasn't making a headway despite all the accrued benefits. I now resigned and went to inform the man of God, a successful first generation chartered accountant in Nigeria, who stood as my guarantor and informed him I had left the company. He now said, hmmm! I was thinking you were doing very well as I wasn't hearing from you since you joined the company.

He said to me, please, pray that the Lord should lead you in the right direction and show you the right path to your career freedom. God answered that prayer. Meanwhile, before then I had always been praying that God should provide a better job for me, which payed much better and with much more benefits in same sector, not knowing I was directing my prayer elsewhere.

In the bible, Peter and his brother had toiled all through the night but caught no fish. But Jesus said, put down your net and they said master, we've toiled all through the night with no catch (still telling stories) but at your word, we'd cast down the net. We knew what happened next. You can imagine they had been applying their same usual experience as fishermen in catching fish and without listening to Jesus when he spoke. They'd have left for home with fruitless efforts.

Pastor Adeboye was praying for just a house to be built for God for the gathering of His people and God told him stop asking me for a house. because I can give you a city and he changed the prayer point. Today, anyone who visits the redemption camp would know its a city indeed. Its bigger than the entire VI and lekki put together. One auditorium alone is 4x4 km in size, not to talk of the old ones and where people built houses and live. There's nothing you'd look for in a city that you'd not find there, except an airport but there's a helipad. They had their own power plant.

A friend of mine had a problem traceable to his family background. He's very intelligent and graduated top of his set. He'd write aptitude tests but they'd not call him. There was one in which he was second on the list of those who applied to Nigeria breweries job in those days. I was the one who collected the parcel which their rep who was driving a brand new Toyota condor brought to him cos he wasn't around to receive it. He asked me, where's our new colleague? He was one of the finalists selected from across Nigeria. They were just 6 in number. I was so happy for him. He just got married too and his ex wife was so happy. In the letter, they told him they'd invite them soon for a chat before resumption. That was the last he heard of them. All the 5 were employed except him. Today, one of them is an oga at the NB.

My friend was very prayerful but always prayed amiss. The day he tackled the family background war as exposed to him by a man of God during an intense prayer session, and those evil people told him they've left him alone ooo when the unseen fire of God hit them, was the beginning of his freedom. He has recovered all. His family relocated to UK but he stayed back home due to his thriving career. He never knew the problem was his family background. He was always praying for better jobs which he'd never get, though great opportunities kept coming his way. I have several similar stories but time won't permit me to tell it all.

Interesting success story. I have one question though cheesy. How did he become top in his set when according to you he had "family background problem".
His family background problem forgot to attack his academic success?

You know the amusing thing we all forget to think about?
That is the fact that the prayers of a sinner is an abomination unto God.
So if you live and dwell in sin (like many so called christians do) but only know and remember that you are a Christian when you want something from God, and then you pray for 24hrs non stop, you are only making noise! Nothing more nothing less!

You don't expect to gain favour from one you have been disregarding his ways.

As a father will you be there to answer a child who does not obey you? Who does what he likes but only remembers you when he is hungry and wants something?

A man who has just duped his company of millions of naira is in church singing and dancing, praying to God. Giving offering.
And you believe he is praying? grin

In conclusion , most prayers by many so called christians are only physical gymnastic and wasteful labouring.
You need to live in the secret place of the almighty to be able to access his attention and power.

Nigerians have decided to build thousands of prayer houses based on their belief in prayers, yet they have built next to zero industries and factories. Every available space has been turned into a church, yet they pray for jobs in those spaces. Who are you all decieving ?

Will God come down to give brother John a job when you you have not created an opening as a human? We pray very unnecessary prayers in Nigeria.
That is the simple truth

Grace is the answer bro...
U can work all day with even fasting and prayers and nothing is working out.

There are several factors that could be responsible rather than ur hard work

But grace is the answer to break through

Hope you know that you can pray all day and night and still get no result? That is the story of millions of Nigerians who think prayers is everything .

The grace you talk about is what has been working for many who did not even pray. So it is not until you sweat in prayer.

Being hard-working doesn't guarantee the lack of hunger.

Peter and Andrew toiled all night in the sea but caught no single fish. Luke 5:5

Lol. How many ships did Jesus sit in to make them catch plenty fishes? I guess all the big fishing boats that have been catching millions of fishes even at that time had the presence of Jesus in their boats?

Well all those are by the way. Don't miss the message. It Is very simple. Do the work to expect the result. Don't just pray.

Smiles. I am not here to judge anyone or call anyone greedy. However I want to point us to certain facts we might be missing out on.

1.) The raising of fund was specifically tagged "Bro kelechi surgery fund"
I.e the church were moved to give out of the knowledge and compassion they had for "bro kelechi". That offering was for "brother kelechi"
Whether it was above the needed fund or below it doesn't matter. It was specifically raised to assist the ailing brother.

2.) If the church had raised fund for the sick generally, then they could decide to share it accordingly according to individual needs. But that was not the case here.

We all know that what the ailing brother would need to get better is far above that surgery money requested. And God has done his part to push the congregation to give out of their abundance unto the course.

Well, it may be their church's policy, but I feel it is wrong.
Remember I am not here to judge anyone.

I am very very angry right now. I couldn't sleep last night. That is why I'm bringing this here this morning before I do something very bad. A father should be after the growth of his son and not after ruining him.

Please you guys should help me look into this matter. I understand that it was a matter of life and important concern.

I'm seriously struggling in the city to eck a living for myself and do the little I can for my family also. My father was a petty trader who hardly can provide adequate for the family. Some of us who come from a very poor background would understand this better. I mean coming from where absolutely nothing is kept for you. No support from the family and nothing, nothing and nothing. You are the one who die and same you would have to pour yourself water to come back to life. You, you and only you.

I buy fast consuming products and supply to people and make some gains from there. Sometimes I hawk the products. I was able to save up to N150k. Around May this year, I went to the village and bought some rubbers of palm oil and store them to sell around November/December and make gains.

Last week, I got a call that wind pulled off our house roof in the village. Since they are using small torchlight phone, I didn't get to see how serious the situation was. Even though I didn't have money, I sent N15k to help fix it. My father later called me and complained bitterly on why I sent just 15k, that according to the carpenter, that materials and workmanship would cost N65k. In my mind, I was just like, does this man even know how I survive here in the city?

For two nights, they didnt sleep in the house as the wind pulled off the rooof.

On Tuesday, I learnt my younger brother was being operated of Hernia. I know about the hernia but was under plan to raise money for it. And I knew there was no money to settle medical bills for operation. So I was shocked where they got the money to do operation.

As I traveled down yesterday to see them, dear Nairaland friends, all my rubbers of palm oil has been sold and the money spent on fixing the roof and paying for the medical bills for the hernia operation without my notice.

I am not taking this kindly with my father who engineered the whole thing and I want to arrest him to refund my money.

That is my life investment and it took me so much to raise the amount. Due to how things are now. I even wanted to sell two rubbers to invest back as the business is facing challenges now.

What should I do here to recover my money back? If I have another money, I would over look it but that is my life investment of my labour.

My brother, you are a very funny person. grin
You want to imprison your father because of 150k? grin
Are you serious?
I am really laughing hard here. grin
I am sorry. (I just can't help it) grin

Now on a serious note, please do calm down sir. Please.
On behalf of your father and family, I want to apologise to you for the action they took. For not informing you. Biko, no vex.

My prayer for you is that God will bless you immensely and open greater doors for you in Jesus name.

Be happy that the money was put to good use. You will make more later. Be at peace.

I had never experienced that in real life.
I learned it here on Nairaland
One time, I read it directed towards me--personally-- a few years ago, but I kept reading it on many threads and was puzzled. Cause I know that's not Christ' method.

That's what I mean by things getting twisted by people thinking they're praying against the demonic spirit in the person. As humans, whether Christian or not, tend to be faulty/imperfect and know that they'd rather want an " enemy" or "perceived enemy" (the person they can actually see and not a spirit that they cannot) to be totally eradicated off of the face of the earth. That, of course, is the flesh speaking, which is so dangerous.

It cannot be explained in the body of Christ, truly using the Word if truly seeking the whole truth.

I continue to pray that Christians (especially Nigerians who sincerely believe in this type of prayer), will go back to the Word, humbly and sincerely seek the Holy Spirit for true understanding.

It's that important.

I was amazed when u said you never heard such. I had to check your profile and I got the answer I was looking for. grin

Interesting!
□ You asked for reason why OP is a liar, I gave you reason from the Words of Jesus Christ Himself -- Matthew 15 vs 1 - 10 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 13 --, but you rejected that.
□ You asked for a sermon on sexual sins, once again, I gave you the Word of Jesus, God's Law detailing God's teaching on the subject -- Matthew 5 vs 27 - 28 -- , but that was also not good enough for you.
□ Jesus Christ's mandate to all of His followers which is of submission and obedience to His every teaching and commandment -- John 14 vs 15 - 23 & John 15 vs 9 - 14 --- does not seem to sit well with you as you would rather it all be, against Jesus Christ, tailored to the whims and delusions fed to you by your pastors and mogs..

My question at this point is why do you hide behind the name of Jesus Christ? undecided

I am really tired of your case. Seriously.

Come out straight . Stop beating around the bush.

Are you trying to say teachings of Paul are irrelevant to christians?
Or what Paul taught in 1COR 6:16 is a lie?

Just come out straight and spare us all the lengthy talks.
The OP only quoted what Paul said and expanciated on it.
No one rejected the teachings of Christ in Matt 15. Those are all still part of the teachings.

Ok let's do this.
Without mincing words or lengthy grammars please tell us how the OP lied.

Take his words one by one. Sentence by sentence and dissect it.
In what way did he preach his own gospel or with his own wisdom?

I remember him saying if you sleep with an harlot you become one flesh with her.
This is seen in 1Cor 6:16.

"Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

So please how did the OP lie?

To the statement in bold, Why? Did Jesus Christ send or anyone to correcting the ones He called out as hypocrites or what? Why do you feel it needs to be according to your wisdom? undecided

Well, I can conclude the fact at this point. It is very clear you cannot preach a simple sermon as regarding sexual purity or sexual immorality. However you can attack those who in their own little way create threads to address such issues.

It will do you as well as everyone else so much good if you spend your time in preaching the gospel according to what you believe other than spend time countering every other Christian denomination and their views.

At the end of the day, your denomination will not save you, it is by your individual works and actions that you will be judged. So endevour to quit the act of always trying to prove that other denominations are sinners and only GHWs are saints. grin

The commission we have been given as christians is to preach the gospel. Please do endevour to preach yours.

The body of Christ should show love and unity Irrespective of differences in beliefs and dortrines.

There is nothing the OP has said that warranted you calling him a LIAR. Absolutely nothing!
You cannot even prove how he lied. All these are not Christ like attribtutes. You can pass your points and offering corrections using the scriptures without resulting to use of such words.

I have read the OPs short message over and over again. I am yet to see your exact point.

Porksupplyib,

I didn't want to repeatedly quote all of your posts, however, you beautifully explained everything.

The "die, die, die" prayers, (which I learned about through this site), are what I've now come to know, alledgedly pertaining to the "spirit" working through the person. I thought it was towards the person. However, a large portion of Nigerian christians do not understand the problem of even stating death in that manner--to the spirit operating in the person. Saying that still evokes a wrong emotion in the one directing it towards another (even if one feels justified). Christ did not teach His followers to say that. He told us what to do...as stated in the scriptures that you pointed out.

Dear sister, let not men decieve you with their words, when they say "it is the Spirit they are praying for to die".
Ask them only one question." Do spirits die? "
Where in the bible did they see such kinds of prayers?

I have some churches near my home here and I hear their prayer points. Many of it are actually directed towards physical human beings and not spirits. These are new generation Pentecostal churches o. No need to mention names.

Imagine prayers like;

"Anyone who said I would not prosper, fall down and die! Fall down and die! Fall down and die!"

How do we explain this in the body of Christ?

So in summary, today's Christians are only exposed to the evil wiles of the devil because they fail to put on the whole armour of God. Not because they do not pray DIE DIE DIE kind of prayers.

And praying "DIE DIE DIE" kind of prayers will not cover you against the work of darkness. They are only flesh induced spiritual gymnastics. Nothing more!

Come to think of it, you are living in sin, righteousness is far from you, yet you pray in the name of Christ that God/holyghost should to go and kill your enemies for you.
Sorry, You are just living in flesh. Christ is far from you.

Now let me ask this question. Do you think the tribulations or problems you and I face today can be compared to what the early church faced?

They answer is No! We are not facing a tenth of the persecutions and trails they went through.

So, if they didn't pray the type of wicked prayers you pray today against your so called "enemies" In those days, what is your own justification ?

Who are you emulating?

Thanks for your frank talk. What you say is indeed right, however. I think this wrong, because, this is where Christians leave themselves open to abuse and ridicule.

Christ never did that. Persecutions will come on their own strenght, but did God Say we should not fight back? No. Rather, He Said, fight. Mathew 11:11-24.

Same for Ephesians 6:12

That is why we sing "Onward Christian Soldiers". WE ARE AT WAR! And of course if you dont kill your enemies, they will surely kill you.

This world is messed up because Christians do not fight. And if you do not fight, how shall 2 put a 1000 to flight and partake in the victory of The Lord?

Peace is always on the other side of war.

Now that we are at this junction, let us endevour to make the needed corrections.

Eph 6:12 as well as Matt 11:11-24 which you refered to does not in any way say that we should fight!.
That has been the issue. Wrong Interpretations justified by flesh.

Let's look at the verses.

Eph 6:12 is only a single verse. U cannot understand the entire and true meaning of the verse without takinh note of the surrounding verses .

So let's look at Eph 6: from verse 10 to 14.

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

As we can see in verse 11, Paul was admonishing us to put on the whole armor of God, that we might stand against the wiles of the devil.

Verse 12 (which u quoted) points out the fact that we wrestles not against flesh ....

Verse 13 down to verse 17 enumerated what the ARMOUR OF GOD entails.

In Verse 14, it says "girt ur loins with TRUTH" , "and having on BREASTPLATE of righteousness."
These are parts of the armour of GOD. TRUTH and Righteousness.

Let me quote from verse 15 down to 18

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

In verse 15 it says ; "having ur feet shod with preparation of the gospel of peace."

This is another part of the armour of God.

In verse 16, it says " taking the shield of faith"
In verse 17 "Helmet of salvation"

All these comprise the armour of God.

This is what you need to counter principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and all spiritual wickedness in high places.

That is what Paul was saying.

Unfortunately today's christians have singled out verse 12 alone, and misinterpreted it to justify their wickedness and fleshy desire to pray for the downfall of their enemies.

This is nothing but the work of the devil.

According to verse 11, once u put on the whole armour of God, you will be able to withstand and overcome the wiles of the devil.

It is not by praying DIE! DIE! DIE! Or asking God to send holy ghost fire to destroy your enemies.

These are nothing but flesh induced wicked prayers. And they have no place in the body of Christ.

May God open our eyes.
