Politics › Re: Sultan: Something Worse Than Boko Haram May Emerge In The North by Powersurge: 8:23pm On Feb 07, 2020
The two major problem that northern NIgeria (exclude NC) has is illiteracy and religion.

All the states that have enacted Sharia law in the north have terrible development indices. You don't expect investors to come to a place with religious laws and insecurity. Where illiteracy abounds, civility flies through the window.

The religion (the way their elite carved religious beliefs and deceive the people with religious ideology) has absolute negative influence on the people.

When Sanusi was talking they were attacking him. Until we accept and understand where we are, we may never reach where we need to be. A major catastrophe is waiting to happen up north. I am grateful that the south is beginning to put measures in place to ensure that it remains there.

Please be specific when you say the North. Plateau is in the north...same as Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Kogi etc and they don't have almajiris as you claim. The only unsafe place in the north is Kaduna axis and some north eastern states like Borno which still has bokoharam. There are 19 states in the north and I sometimes see that you guys probably use only 2-4 core northern states to define the whole north
Whenever someone from the south mention north, s/he can NEVER be including those blessed people of NC. There is little or no difference between them and the south. They love education, socialism etc. They just need some more economics push, that's all.

It is the older generation that assumed all people in the north are the same because they mostly speak Hausa. Apart from NC, People in southern Kaduna, Taraba and Southern Borno also belong to that class and some few others.

If you have read MY WATCH by Obasanjo, you will see a place where some people in the so called "core" north were referring to people in NC as not being original northerners.

My NNPC RECRUITMENT EXPERIENCE

I was heavily pregnant awaiting my due date, I got a pop up notification from a job site I had signed up to, I was like nah, Naija govt. undecidedwell lemme see what they're up to this time, I created an account with the career portal and the time was counting down 6hours+ to end of application, I already had almost all my documents scanned and on my phone so I followed through the application pretty much swiftly. I was feeling great that I didn't just nudge it aside, besides I didn't even break a sweat applying. AfterwardsI decided to have my scanned documents uploaded to my cloud in case I lost my phone or something, as I went to my files, I discovered I had uploaded thumbnails while applying and not the real documents, wtf! Where did the thumbnails even come from smh! It was a long shot anyways I concluded and forgot all about it.
The following month I delivered (praise be to God!) I was still seriously adjusting to this huge transition (from a young lady to a mom) when outta nowhere I got notification for CBT, damn! these people though, well maybe God and the universe is telling me something! I prepared myself the much my condition allowed me to, took my baby with help from my hubby and a friend to my centre, which was kinda close. I was hella impressed with the level of organisation I met there regardless of the crowd spread across different time schedules. After the test I was eager to go back to my baby, We went home and again I forgot all about it.
Then that fateful morning from nowhere came the invite for interview WHaT!!! These guys might be serious after all, I remember my excitement at seeing that invite. But then I went melancholy as I remembered I had to travel all the way from my state to Abj with my 2months and 2weeks old by road(cos well, we couldn't afford to fly) damn! But my hubby(man like him) Pat me on the shoulder and gave me the much needed encouragement that we will do it(through God who strengthens us).
I got myself ready and we embarked on that journey two days before my interview day to allow us(especially my baby) settle in properly.
Ps. This was my first time in the capital and mahn! the roads are out of this country! shocked
We got to the towers on that day like two hours before my time(well I like to be thorough wink) I spent a good chunk of that time looking at my baby and envisaging all the ways her life would be better than mine if I got this job!(a girl's allowed to fantasize cool).
It was time, we got ushered in and once more the organization was a notch better than the CBT's. However we spent so much time at the auditorium where we waited for an usher designated to our panel to come get us, at this stage we had spent 2hours+ in there, I was mad worried about my baby whom I had on an exclusive breastfeeding plan plus we hadn't spent this much time apart before(separation anxiety kicked in hard), eventually candidates for my panel were called and we were ushered up by the nice young lady (she tipped us to expect the HSE question how to ensure your safety in a work environment, nice of her though unethical) just as we came up and the panel was done with the interviewee inside, they all stepped outside where the panel chairman introduced himself and told us that they were leaving for lunch break, damn! My baby must be wailing by now cry. I thought to myself, I put a call through to my hubby who tried to assure me all was well with them( I knew him well enough to hear through his white lies) God! undecided
Finally they returned after an hour+ but I still had three more people to go before me. My interview started with a hitch as my mind and heart weren't in that complex anymore, I fumbled with my first question which was course related but the rest of if the four questions I think I did pretty well in, even managed to throw a sarcasm somewhere in-between that had us all share a laugh and hugely calm my nerves.
At the end, I dedicated that interview to my little one who in my opinion bore the most brunt of it and handed it over to God.

Been to a couple of interviews afterwards but always got knocked out because I have an infant at hand and they don't want compromise. But I'm still positive and grateful for the journey thus far, my little one is few months shy of one year and we're still at it. We praise God! we move! grin grin
Nice one. If I am among the chosen ones, I will tell my story (with different pictures). If not, no show. I go delete the pictures sharply.

International what? The only weapon you cannot get in the black market is probably nuclear weapon. And you don't need any special station to use a sesponized drone. Those that imported it know what they are doing.

The policing system in NIgeria is terribly wrong.

I saw the miscreant Arewa group launching northern security. The name alone even show bitterness. What they failed to understand is that they have lost NC long time ago.

The north (with exception of NC which I now see as part of the South), is not in a very good position to enforce things.

If we sneeze here, poverty rate will triple there. For a start, desertification is happening over there. If we begin to seriously look into anti grazing laws, your herds will go and be eating desert sands in the north. No water, no vegetations and you dey do "shege" for people that could send you into oblivion.

PRESS RELEASE

POLICE TACTICAL FORCES STORM ANSARU TERRORISTS’ CAMP
Neutralize over 250 terrorists and bandits

Special Operatives of Operation Puff Adder of the Nigeria Police backed by the Special Forces of the Police Airwing, in a daring offensive operation, stormed one of the largest operational camps of the Ansaru Terror Group (also housing other bandits and kidnappers) located in Kuduru Forest, Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State and successfully neutralized over 250 high-profile members of the Ansaru Terror Group.

The operation which commenced in the early hours of today, 5th February, 2020, was carried out by a combined team of operatives of Operation Puff Adder made up of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Forces, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The operation was necessitated by actionable intelligence linking terror and criminal elements in the super camp to series of terror-related violence, kidnappings, gun-running, cattle rustling and other heinous crimes across the country.

Unfortunately, during the operation, a Police Bell helicopter, which provided aerial and intelligence cover for the ground troops came under attack from the bandits using sophisticated anti-aircraft rifles and GPMG. Commendably, the pilot and the co-pilot who demonstrated uncommon courage and expertise, successfully landed the aircraft at the Air Force Base, Kaduna without further incident. They were thereafter evacuated for medical treatment. Both officers who sustained non-life threatening injuries are currently receiving treatment and are in stable condition.
The Police helicopter has since been flown out of the Kaduna Air Force Base by Police Pilots en-route to Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police assures citizens of safety and sustained intelligence-led operations against bandits across the length and breadth of the nation. He has equally applauded the unparalleled bravery, commitment and dedication of the Police operatives currently conducting the special mission.

Family › Re: I Am Sterile But About To Be A Father by Powersurge: 1:21am On Feb 06, 2020
Romangalactic:
I'll try to keep my predicament short. I registered a new account for this purpose but I'm sure many of you will understand that sterility is not something to be announced which is exactly how I got myself in this situation. I am 35 and engaged to a beautiful woman who completes me in every way. As much as it hurts me to say this, I have not been totally honest with her about everything.
Just yesterday while we were home together, she told me that she is pregnant . I asked her how sure she is, she said she had done the pee test and that she knows how she is feeling. The issue here is that I am sterile but I have not told her this before so it is impossible that I am responsible.

Please before anyone tells me I deserve this for not opening up to her, I have been undergoing treatment secretly and they say I will be able to father children when it's done so of course, I am hopeful and have not bothered to inform her about any of this. I can't stand losing her for any reason. My issue right now is that I asked my endocrinologist this morning if it's possible that the treatment is already working and he said we have not gone far enough to see any results yet. This means I am definitely not the father of the child she is carrying.

Only one other person in this world knows about my health challenge and that is my cousin. I told him and he told me to break up with my fiancée, someone I have already done introduction with and families are involved. I told him I cannot and that he must take the secret to the grave, he thinks I am making the biggest mistake of my life.
Well I told him my plan is to accept the pregnancy and continue to make her think I don't know she cheated on me. I am doing this with the hope that after we get married, my treatment will be completed and everything will be back to normal. But at the same time, I still can't shake the feeling that I am about to marry someone who cheated and is passing off another man's child as mine, I feel cheated and it hurts.

Can anyone else please tell me what to do about this situation I have found myself? Please I just need to hear from other people besides my cousin. Another thing, he has never really liked my fiancée so I feel that also may be his motivation.
I need neutral opinions please
Firstly, against those bashing you for not telling her,I am glad you didn't tell her.

Now to the issue, forever is a long time. From 35 to the grave (all other things been equal) is still far. I can tell you authoritatively that your cousin would be right in a long run. Anybody that is capable of giving another person's child to you to father is capable of murder.

You are 35, but I am sorry to say that you are behaving like a child. A broken marriage (which is not even the case here) is better than a broken home. Questions: how are you sure the real father will not come for the child one day? Oh! You feel he doesn't know? Wait until he is in the position to drag you. Perhaps you would have been in a more influential position by then. Such case could shatter your career.

How are you sure more bastards will not follow afterwards? Oh! You thought she brought bastard because you are sterile? She brought bastard because she had been fucking other niggas.

I can almost authoritatively tell you that more bastards will come. One single blackmail from the nigga that is responsible for this one will see her spreading her legs at angle of 180 degrees (I am sorry to use those terms for your girl). But you need to understand this.

If you have have financial woes, this type of woman will pack the kids and go; probably to real father's house. She will just show you DNA result dump your ass. These things have led men to commit suicide. Because they happen at the time when one is getting close to the grave. I can't say anymore, go and make your decision. But if she brings bastard without considering the marriage, you should have no care dumping her ass.

NuissancePolice:
The bolded is a classic example of the Fallacy of Relevance. Appealing to authority to support your argument won't change the position of the fact.
Before I say anything, I discovered that you people are more at ease demeaning Christianity, Jesus and so on. But very cautious of mentioning the possible tricks in Mohammed's religion. Obviously because of fear of been beheaded grin

I also discovered that as you post more stuff, you became more defensive and dogmatic. These are not the traits of good intellectual exercise. The aim is not to "defend" your stance as you doing or feeling there is not "sense" in others'.

Like I said in the NNPC post, when you truly know, you will be humbled in your knowledge. I will not based my views on philosophy. because it's a highly flawed way of reasoning; most of whose claims cannot be empirically established. But based on cognitive reasoning.

Now, let me start from the idea of creation:

It is true that almost every religion and tribe have their own version of creation. Most of which are not intellectually sound. But I will like to take it up from science. If you have going through scientific history of creation, you would understand that there are some suggestions that are purely guess work. Some even claimed life came from fire. Others said from mud. Now let's examine the most popular scientific believe of creation.

The Theory of Evolution stated that life evolved from one single cell (amongst other things). There are questions behind that saying that man have not been able to answer. Why was it that only one cell evolved? Why has no other cells evolved since then? Scientists have recreated the "supposed" conditions that led to the evolution. Yet they were unable to make the so called evolution possible. While it might be possible that life evolved as claimed by some scientists, it is too early to affirm this. Because science has not been able to provide prove that life truly evolved.

The idea of good and evil is purely a philosophical question which I will not go into. Because, like I said earlier, philosophy is a highly flawed field. It is obvious in the way you are passionately defending your stance.

Don't you think that the question of the WHYs. That resonate throughout your posts might be flawed as well? Look at this scenario. A father refused to use his car to send his child to school. This child would have to walk long distance everyday. Sometimes the father also carries some of the child's school mates to school but not his own child. This child would have blisters and injuries, yet the man would not allow him to go to school in his car. Now, do you think the WHYs of the child and the WHYs of the father would be the same? The child would be asking why from his owing position of knowledge. The father would be asking his own WHYs from his own position of knowledge. The child's WHYs would obviously condemn the fathers action. Whether the father is right or wrong is a story for another day.

Coming to prove. If I asked you to prove that you were born, you would probably go and bring some bunch of documents for me. Which could be doctored. You cannot have CONCRETE prove that you were born. Everything that you would provide as a prove could be doctored. But if your brain is enhanced in such a way that you could go back in time to see how you were being giving birth to, then you wouldn't need to prove to anyone that you were born.

I have seen a man on whom cutlass were used. The cutlass was bouncing on his body like when you are using cutlass to cut tyre. I have seen a pastor stretched his hands towards a flower vase before. The vase vibrated continuously until it fell and broke. I have a friend who stumbled into a Christian crusade and was healed of asthma. A man was shot at a close range several times without a single penetration.

There are lots of grey areas. Like if these things are real, why can't they be used to do XYZ? Like I said, prove is in the realm of senses. And it's based on knowledge.

I could write zillions of article on this topic. But to preserve space and to save myself time. I will stop here.

Until there are empirical proves of Big Bang Theory, Evolution and all, it will be exercise in error to say emphatically, that the spiritual is not true. Because as religious folks have not been able to prove empirically that God exists, so has science has not been able to prove emperically that he doesn't exists.

However, I thought I saw it in one science website some times ago as a kind of more recent discovery. It's seems every other "claim" is pointing towards your assertion. I will keep checking if I could dig it out though.
