Christianity is a journey of faith. We live by hope of what God has promised. I believe in the old testament, the day of the Lord referred to the fulfillment of the Promise of the Messiah. The birth, ministry, suffering, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In the new testament, the day of the Lord also referrs to our present dispensation of Grace. The dispensation of the Holyspirit, the kingdom of heaven is at hand and now is, where we no longer worship God at the mountains or Jerusalem but worship God in Spirit and truth. John 4:24 The day of the Lord also refers to the day of repentance when we as individuals encounter Jesus Christ and we are saved. The day a sinner acknowledges his sins, accepts and confesses Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. The day of the Lord also refers to the day of judgment. The return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead when we will account for our works. The world as we know it will be no more. It will be a glorious day for the Saints. May the LORD give us more understanding and revelation of His Wisdom in Jesus name. Amen. |
Offense should not chase us from God's presence. Try to locate where you feel more comfortable to worship and serve God. He has a personal revelation for you through your personal relationship with him. The church which is supposed to help us has in most cases become the problem. Why? Because people are people. Everyone in church including the pastor is growing. God is the solution. We are saved to follow Chrisr, not other Christians. The challenge is to keep our eyes and focus on Christ. Church is the school to learn of God through learning of Christ. Just the same way cultism in schools, is not a reason to abolish education altogether. Now you can choose to study online and pass your exams but you would have missed the comraderiie that comes with the School system. All I'm saying is, do not despise the gathering of saints. Locate a place where you can comfortable worship without the distractions of the excrsses of members, including pastors. Such churches still exist. Just pray and God will lead you there. The first step is to know that you really need God and you need to know who this Jesus Christ is. Because truly, all we are and all we are searching for, is all in Him. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Matthew 6:33 And you will know God through Jesus Christ. John 17:3 |
Definition: Offense: The act of offending: -a crime or sin. -an affront, insult or injury. -The state of being offended or displeased; anger; displeasure. Key Verse: He will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Isaiah 8:14 The Message: Christianity is simple, but it's people who make it difficult. It is important to note that Christianity is not a destination. It is a Journey of Faith. Every believer is on this journey. Every one in the church is growing, including the pastor. Christianity is a school, a rehabilitation centre and a surgery room for transformation. We are to become grafted into Christ, that we may become His branches and bear His good fruit. The journey of faith is to bear the Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23. As a born again, I had my expectations, I expected to be pampered as a new convert who had just concluded His foundation class. After the foundation class we were expected to join a department in the church and and render our service to God to truly become a member of the body of Christ. I decided I could function in the Media team. Unfortunately, they were not receptive, to make matters worse I would have to wait some weeks or months before I would be accepted. So I figured before my zeal would be quenched, let me join another department instead. I decided to join the PR department, they were more receptive but nothing special, no formal introduction, they even seemed too busy to care. But I stuck around, since I didn't have to wait in line to be accepted. In the department, some of the members were not so polished, they talked lousily, they pretty much were different from the Foundation school standard I was expecting. Besides, I had to be setting up our receiving hall, packing and unpacking tables, carrying drinks and souvenirs, etc. No one told me about any of this. I thought it was just to smile and welcome new members. To make matters worse they had member's yearly levies and weekly offerings. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, it did. It was the festive season, about a year ago now, I had gone to a house party with my colleagues on a saturday, I was still drinking so I was pretty messed up. I woke up the next morning deciding whether or not to go to church feeling guilty but I eventually decided to go. Before leaving I saw a remaining bottle and foolishly decided to take one more for the road, at the behest of my friend. On bathed properly, brushed my teeth and even perfumed myself before leaving for service. I scaled through the service without any situation. But on getting to my department I was challenged by one of the elders of the department who knew I had drunk and embarrassingly stepped me aside from a prayer session we were going to have. I was boiling at this moment. I felt insulted that there was no need for the embarrassment. I made up my mind not to return to the department. But before I left, another member in the department called me aside to wait for her to finish the prayer session. I angrily waited wondering what else I would hear. But to my surprise she spoke with so much concern and love. And at that very moment, I knew in my mind that I would make more effort to stop drinking. And in just a few days after that, on 1st January, 2019 I stopped drinking. That's just one of my testimonies on offenses. I've come to realise now that offenses are a sign that we need to make a change for the next level of Grace and Glory that God wants to usher us into. Let us be cautious and begin to see an offense as an opportunity to take criticism and make necessary correction for improvement in our behaviours and attitudes that have been holding us from our blessings. Let us know it's not about the person from which the offense came, it is most likely God trying to expose us to our weakness so that we can take correction and adjust ourselves. Some attitudes He always tests in us is our Humility, Diligence, Love for Him and our neighbours, Generosity, Patience and Self-Control. Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Luke 17:1-2 Let us also be cautious that God doesn't want to lose any single soul that He has won. So let's be patient with one a other especially new converts guiding and exhorting ourselves with love and care. Closing Verse: If the temper of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your post [showing resistance], because composure and calmness prevent great offenses. (AMP) Ecclesiastes 10:4 |
HigherEd:From the days of the prophets- Daniel, Joseph, Elijah, Elisha, Nathan, etc God has always wanted his people in government. In fact God doesn't only want us to comment alone, He wants us to be politicians, judges and presidents. How else do you expect His kingdom to come in Nigeria? A vice president can't do it alone, we need more transformed Christians in political offices. Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? 1 Corinthians 6:2-3 Is it a delicate and sensitive issue? Yes. But fear has always been the tool of the enemy against believers. Which is why, Without Faith it is impossible to please God. We need to start taking actions lest evil overtakes us individually and nationally. God help us all. And may His kingdom reign in our hearts, our lives and our nations in Jesus name. Amen. |
PastorDavidAwuj:You're right sir, but it's not only poverty, life outside Christ is a cursed realm. It is the "Valley of the shadow of death." But in Christ, God's presence is our prosperity. Having the Holy spirit working in us is our wealth. I do not want you to get me wrong sir, monetary prosperity is part of the blessing but it is only an aspect of the physical evidence of the inner working of an inner prosperity of the soul. 3 John 1:2 But until we are truly saved and mature some money would struggle with God in our lives and turn us a way from Godliness. 1 Timothy 6:10 Our riches and wealth should be in proportion to our spiritual growth and maturity. Now there's a level of wealth Bishop Oyedepo and Pastor Adeboye command now that you and I probably can't handle now, but even they had to grow into the maturity it demands so that it won't turn us away from God. |
PastorDavidAwuj:Well said Pastor. I agree with you except for the part about poverty and prosperity. Poverty is sometimes, if not all times, a blessing in disguise, a form of God's protective strategy. I say this because I've seen so many believers who were poor and committed to serving God but the moment God answered their prayer and they became blessed, they had little or no time for God again. And this exposed them to all sorts of crises of what life without Christ is. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:23-24 Notice He said hard, not impossible. Hence he continued with this comforting words of assurance. When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:25-26 I've come to realise that prosperity is not the first and primary thing God wants to give us. The first and primary thing is our Salvation from Sin and Bondage. Christ wants to transform us so that we may bear the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 This is what produces Christ-likeness. And Christlikeness is what attracts favours and all the goodness of life. Unfortunately, everyone including believers chase prosperity first. Whereas prosperity without the fruit of the Spirit is what is destroying people and the society. People begin to use their wealth for oppression instead of liberation. People become selfish, vain and self-centered instead of generous and kingdom oriented. Truly, as much as prosperity is an important part of the blessing in God, God would rather pend it till we can handle it, than release it when He knows it will destroy us. No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24 May God deliver us all, most especially the Body of Christ. Amen. |
When you turn your Solution to your Problem. Hate the devil but recognise his ingenuity in deception. God went to a great length to deliver humanity from sin and death. God, the Creator and Almighty, so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son. That whosoever believes in Him should not die but have eternal life. John 3:16 Let me reiterate. God gave up His Only Begotten Son (an expression of Him) just for you and I. Let me paraphrase for clarity. God of Heaven and Earth, became mere man, human, became Jesus Christ in flesh (this sounds absurb, yes, but that's how far he went), Just so that we could be delivered, saved and restored. If this doesn't move you to think, even to tears, you clearly have a hardened heart, even worse than Pharaoh and Saul. He did all this so that we could have the Power of Grace, the Holy Spirit indwelling inside us. So that we could finally be able to overpower sinfulness, overpower limitations. So that impossible (like Nike) would truly be nothing. And for this He and His disciples suffered persecution, were hunted and murdered for this course. He was extremely bruised and battered beyond recognition for this course. He was humiliated and stripped naked for this course. He was spat upon, slapped, whipped for this course. He was crushed for this course. He carried the Cross of shame for this course. He was nailed to the Cross like the worst of Criminals for this Grace. He was pierced with all sorts, nails, thorns and even speared for this Grace. He finally died weakened, battered, shamed on the Cross for this Grace. He was disgraced for this Grace. Just when you thought it was over, He had to go to hell for this Grace. He had to conquer hades for this Grace. He had to get the Keys from Death for this Grace. He had to wake himself up from death. He had to raise his mortal body. He had to ressirrect from the Grave for this Grace. Then He had to ascend into Heaven, for this Grace. That is how precious the Grace of God is. That is just a little glimpse of the price at which Grace came. How then can we be so comfortable to abuse this Grace? How can we find it so convenient to continue in sin with this Grace? How can we believe we were given this Grace only for us to be no different from every other sinner? How can we so disgrace this Grace? Grace was given to us, to restore the sinful adamic man that we had become into the righteous adamic man as in the garden of Eden before sin was ever known. Grace was given to restore the Shamed Adamic man into the Glorified Adamic man. Grace was given to restore the mere men we had become into the God-man we were created to be. Grace is God's Solution to Everything. Grace is God's correction to Everything that has gone wrong in Creation. Provided by God, Paid for by Jesus Christ and Established by the Holy Spirit. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the Communion of the Holyspirit, be with us now and for ever more. Amen. |
*Taking Corrections* *Key Verse* Behold, Happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. Job 5:17 *Basic Definition:* Chasten: To punish (in order to bring about improvement in behavior, attitude, etc.); to restrain, moderate. To render humble or restrained. *The Message* By default, no body likes to be corrected. No one likes to be awoken from a sweet sleep. No body likes change. A dirty person doesn't want to be told to be neat. A lazy person doesn't want to be told to be hardworking. An average student doesn't want to be told he should be the best. The best doesn't want to be told to help others to equally be the best. We just naturally don't like to take correction. Yet without correction how can we ever know our flaws, how can we ever become better? Every reputable company upon recruitment takes a new entry employee through a process of rigorous, intense and comprehensive Training and Development. But Why? Why not just start him off immediately? After all He was selected among an avalanche of applicants, interviewed and employed based on his performance. Yet, the need for Training and Development cannot be overemphasized. It is what converts and transforms; -a potential into a kinetic. -a raw material into a good product. -a crude resource into refined product. A worker thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:17 If we can take correction, endure punishment and change for our jobs, for our salaries, how much more for our God, for the salvation of our souls? Job was by human standard excellent and successful. Yet God wanted to bring out of him a higher excellence. Perfection in faith and wealth. In the heat and pang of his chastening, knowing the faithfulness of God, Job made this powerful confession- "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." Job 13:15a *What Corrections Are We To Take?* I recently came across a story on Social media and it was pretty instructive it got me introspective. A man prayed for spiritual power and anointing. He bought books on how to work in the supernatural and how to flow in the supernatural, including dry fasting (without food and water) and white fasting (with water), but all to no avail. Then one day, he prayed that God should show him the secret of the barriers to why heaven had refused to use him. It was then God opened his eyes and he saw an angel that came to hand a Report Card of how God saw him! Below are the scores: Gentleness 1% Unforgiveness. 95% Love 5% Joy. 10% Anger 95% Pride 90% Peace. 3% Kindness 20% Holiness 1% Self control 3% Sexual sins- lustful thoughts 100% Evangelism 2% Greed - Covetousness 80% Doubt 80% Disobedience 95% Patience 1% Love for secret praise by people 100% Negative thoughts 80% Jealousy 99% Envy 98% Gossip & Backbiting 90% Faith 3% Idolatry. 60% At the bottom of the card it was written, "SERIOUSLY BELOW STANDARD." What would be your score using the above chart? Would you have been better? The year is running fast. Do an early, personal, inner soul searching today because the kingdom of God is at hand. Examine yourself! As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Revelations 3:19 Let us be ready and willing to submit to correction. It will initially be a slap on our egos but once we realise it's for our own good, we will humbly and gratefully start to take corrections. Now no chastening seems joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11 |
Grace is the most precious gift God gave humanity. Grace takes away Power from the hands of Sin and death (fear), and gives it to us. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2 Grace was given to us freely to overcome sin. Not to continue in sin. We are saved into Perfection. Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48 The Laws can't make us righteous. Grace makes us righteous. And Love makes us Perfect. The Consciousness and Recognition of the Cost of our Salvation (the suffering, death, burial and resurrection of Christ, shedding of the most precious and guiltless blood of Jesus) moves us to Love. His Love makes us abolish our sinful ways for His righteousness (Doing what is Right). To continue to seek to be like Him. Grace is to empower us with Love and the Ability to fulfill all the Laws and Righteousness and More, To Be Perfect as Christ is. Grace is not for us to downgrade, but to be upgraded into a higher living, a translated lifestyle. What a mere man can not do, God Himself wants to do through us, by the indwelling of His Spirit in us. And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Joel 2:28a Grace is without Condemnation, without Coersion, without Manipulation, Without Force. Grace is a Journey of Faith. It is a Progressive Growth in Godliness at God's pace not human pace. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 Grace is God's Ultimate Love Letter written in our Hearts. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the Communion of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and for ever more. 2 Corinthians 13:14 Amen |
The book of Matthew chapter 5 details our calling as Christians, as God's Creation, as revealed through our Saviour. It was the Sermon on the Mount. The birth of the Ministry of our Saviour. The Unveiling of the New Covenant. The chapter concludes with our LORD, Jesus Christ informing us of what He has come to give us. We have received the Grace to be Perfect just as God in Heaven. We are saved to enter into the Perfection of Creation as in the Garden of Eden before sin was ever known. This certainly seems absurd to the human ears and understanding. That is why it is not our work to do. It is God, through the Holyspirit dwelling inside us, that wants to accomplish this. We have the same Spirit that was in Christ. It is not so that we should continue to struggle in sin. But to Rest in Godliness. The Holyspirit shows us our sins, shows us the way of righteousness. And teaches, leads and empowers us to live a Righteous life. It is not overnight. It is not easy. It is simply a Growth. It is the Journey of Faith. And no, there is no Condemnation even when we fail, He just wants us to keep trying and not give up. He wants us to start loving Righteousness (Doing things Right). He wants us to be Perfect. Just keep trying as He helps you overcome your weaknesses. Keep submitting as He tells you what to change about you and what to do with your blessings. The Grace was given to us to fulfill the Law perfectly, without condemnation and sacrifices. The New testament doesn't abolish the old testament, it only comes to make it possible through the Gift of the Holy Spirit (A new heart). Christ in us, the Hope of Glory. The enemy has subtly succeeded in making us see Perfection as impossible. The same way the Israelites couldn't look in the face of Moses. The same way they feared to enter their own Promised Land because it looked impossible. And because of that they settled for 40 years struggle in the wilderness, instead of a journey of 40 days. Perfection is what every human being wants for his gadgets. We want to look and perform excellent. Yet when it comes to us becoming Perfect, we remember, we are only human, so we were not meant to be perfect. Oh, Who has bewitched us! Yes, the fallen man, the sinful man can not be perfect. But the Re-born man, the Glorified man has been Redeemed into Perfection. Our God declares the end from the start. That is why He calls us Holy, Righteous even while we are yet falling in sin. He sees in us, His Spirit, He sees in us Our new nature. He sees in us Jesus Christ. And He sees us becoming just like that. It is up to us to have the Faith to believe who He says we are. Only when we come to know and Grow in Love. Can we be willing to endure the sacrifice and drop our old nature/self for His new nature. Interestingly, His calling, which is the new nature, the nature of Christ, bearing the Fruit of the Spirit, is what produces all we have been searching for all our lives. His nature is what produces everlasting prosperity that surpasses all our wildest imagination, dreams and ambitions. People start to just Love you because you have become Love. Favour starts to follow you because people just can't help themselves around you. God becomes our Everything and uses everyone to bless us as we also bless others. |
MuttleyLaff:Simply because two consenting adults don't determine right or wrong. Otherwise we shouldn't complain anymore about the two conniving adults (politicians and company staff) have been consenting to embezzle Nigerians commonwealth and company funds respectively. Right or wrong is not determined by two or more people. It is determined by God. Only He has established to mankind what is right, what is fruitful, what profitable, what is enduring, what is beautiful and what is moral. You might be tempted to think homosexuality hurts no one until your children decide to be homosexual and the future is filled with a bunch of immoral, vain, unstable and self-centered adults who hate children. |
The Way Of Faith Key Verse: For he was a good man full of the Holy Spirit and Faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. Acts 11:24 The Message: Christianity as practised by the early disciples was not a religion. In fact they didn't know what to call it. Christ never named it. He simply taught and showed them the Way. The Jews called them a sect (Acts 24:14) while the disciples themseves simply called it The Way. It was at Antioch that they were named and first called Christians. So what is the Way? The way is the way of Righteousness. The way is the way of Truth. The way is the way of Life. And Only by Faith can we live in the Way. Faith is the currency of the Spirit. In fact, Faith is so essential to the Way, so much so that *"Wthout Faith it is impossible to please God."* Hebrews 11:6 Our Lord Jesus Christ walked, worked miracles, conquered, lived, died and resurrected by Faith. He operated in the Fullness of Faith. And this is all He ever taught His disciples and those who came to Him. It is by the faith of the people that they received their miracles. So much so that even gentiles astounded Jesus Christ whenever their faith exceeded those of the Jews, whom He was sent to. So what is Faith? Faith has several definitions, but we will highlight just few. In simple plain language Faith can be explained thus; Faith is Belief. It is not unbelief. Faith is Conviction (Trust and Confidence). It is not doubt. Faith is Courage. It is not fear. Faith is Optimism. It is not pessimism. Faith is only truly Faith, when it is in God, the Word of God and in the name of Jesus Christ. Let us see some of the true definitions of Faith scripturally; Mark 11:24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. 1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the Confidence we have, that in Him, that if we ask anything according to His Will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. For an indepth definition and explanation, Hebrews 11 shares more details on Faith. Why do we need Faith? Because it is one of the virtues of God that the enemy always wants to steal, kill and destroy in us. Our little or lack of Faith is what has limited us, caged us and dangerously left us for the enemy to manipulate us. Let us endeavour to always pray for Faith, to preserve our Faith and to Grow in Faith. The disciples didn't inherit faith even after following Jesus Christ for over 3 years. They prayed for it. "Increase our Faith." Luke 17:5 How do we build our Faith? By constantly hearing the Word of God and meditating on it. By desiring the gift of Faith. By praying in spirit for edification. By deliberately letting ourselves confront our fears trusting in the word of God as we have received. By leaving our comfort zones and doing something unusual to us, especially within the ministry. Our closing verse is a glimpse of what our faith will achieve. I earnestly desire to see each and everyone of us in the Body of Christ operating in our calling, in manifesting God's glory, in walking in the fullness of faith. Closing Verse Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. Acts 6:7-8 |
NwaAmaikpe:All these prayers flying around. Thank God the prayer of a sinner is an abomination to God. So only the righteous' prayer will be answered. Clearly Lola brought peace to the life of Peter brought out of him a responsible man. Paul is mostly aggrieved because he misses his twin brother that they messed around together. His anger is out of love. He misses the love and bond of his twin. Unfortunately Peter cannot downgrade to irresponsible lifestlye just to please him. Rather he should clean up his act and upgrade to a responsible man. The little I know of the two brothers proves the axiom, never judge a book by its cover. People most mistake Peter's exuberance for irresponsibility and Paul's sobriety for responsibility. But truly, the reverse is the case. Peter is clear the more responsible. I pray they get it together soon. If not for their career, for their family. |
Austindark:But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse. What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn’t treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives. They pretended to know it all, but were illiterate regarding life. They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand. So God said, in effect, “If that’s what you want, that’s what you get.” It wasn’t long before they were living in a pigpen, smeared with filth, filthy inside and out. And all this because they traded the true God for a fake god, and worshiped the god they made instead of the God who made them—the God we bless, the God who blesses us. Oh, yes! Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn’t know how to be human either—women didn’t know how to be women, men didn’t know how to be men. Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it—emptied of God and love, godless and loveless wretches. Romans 1:19-27 (MSG) |
adelee777:He always does. He indwells a person. He in dwelled only Jesus Christ before crucifixion. Now after ressurrection, He indwells every Christian who believes and confesses Jesus Christ as the Son of God. That was why Mary didn't recognise Him in the tomb. That was why the disciples didn't recognise Him all the time He reappeared to them. He indwells anyone and everyone who believes. |
A Broken and a Contrite heart simply means an Emotional, softened and compassionate heart that is moved for others and open to change/bend. A heart that is not hardened to its own will but open to bend and even change for others. |
Becoming Service Providers Key Verse: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 Often times we go into business with the sole aim and objective of making money. Our mission and vision statement is simply "To be Rich". Ask an average youth and he'll tell you "I just want to blow". I thank God for the privilege of His Divine Oracles, our spiritual parents, Abraham and Grace Aiyedogbon opening us to God's wisdom and new unveings. Truly, we are to become service providers. Service provision is simply to create customer satisfaction. To make the interest and satisfaction of the customer your priority. This creates customer retention. It creates customer loyalty. It creates referrals. It creates improvement in our value chain. It creates longevity And it certainly creates wealth. Ulltimately creating fulfillment for both us and our clients. But unfortunately due to peer pressure, competition, and personal wants and needs, we tend to focus on ourselves and want the wealth first. We are saved to save others. We are saved to preserve lives. We are saved to solve problems. We are saved to become the solution to the world by service provision, through Christ who strengthens us knowing He is able to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. Dr Mike Murdock in sharing the secret to his financial breakthrough made these assertions. -A problem is a secret gift from God that creates your entire reward system for your lifetime." -Discern problems near you as doors to significance. -What you make happen for others, God will Make Happen for you. Below is the verse He holds on to in faith. With goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. Ephesians 6:7-8 Observe the World It is interesting how we can observe the world and see God in everything. Truly, creation bows to worship our God. Even unbelievers who apply God's word knowingly or unknowing get the results. Observing the corporate world teaches us the truth in every word of God. Observe a Customer service officer and you will learn the power of the Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23. An expression of politeness, patience and calm. This always wins a customer, even an irate customer. Observe a successful manager and you will learn Diligence. Diligence is the hardwork, excellence drive and smart-thinking that produces success. Observe Management's mission and vision statements and you will observe the secret to success. I have never read a mission statement that focused on money. It is rather customer-centric. It is about providing a solution to an inherent problem of the customer and society. This is our calling. To be Solution providers through our service. To go around doing good works. We are to provide intervention to every injustice, to the captives, to the oppressed, to the widow and to the poor. Just as our Father in Heaven provides Divine Intervention in our times of need. This seems daunting, this seems impossible, this seems unrealistic. But it is never up to us. So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6 Of course we should always know the leading of the Holyspirit. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:14 Our challenges are the criteria that produce Faith, that produce Grace, that produce the manifestation of God's Glory. He hovered over the formless, hopeless earth in the beginning and darkness became Light. Everything that was bad became Good. He moved into our lives, and sinners became righteous, became Sons and Daughters, became Royal Priesthood. His Grace truly abounds in our weaknesses. We should always be humble to express our weaknesses before God. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 We have received the Grace to be Solution Providers. Often times we go hungry because we are looking in the wrong places. We work just for salaries. Engage in business just to make money, just to make ends meet, just to feed our selves. Some even work just to "pepper dem". We end up facing challenges and might even question the validity of God's word. But His word is ever true. And He is ever Faithful to His Word. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:3 When it's all about us, it hardly moves God. But when we pray to be Blessed so as to become Blessings to others, God, seeing the genuity of our motives will always move into our situation. See a Need, Meet the Need See a Void, Fill the Void. The Biggest Multinationals and Conglomerates today did not start of being multinationals. They started humble. They started with a vision. They saw a need and found a way to meet the need. Steve Jobs saw a need to make computers with better designs. Mark Zuckerberg saw a need to create a social environment to meet and interact with one another. Amazon saw a need to make the customers the priority. McDonalds saw a need to make food compact, on-the-go and available to the busy professionals. Uber saw a need to make commuting easier. MTN saw a need to make telecomms cheaper and accessible across all classes- elites and masses. Let us be customer-centric in our businesses. Let us be service-driven. So many people don't even like their customers, they just want their money. But we are to love God and love people. That includes our clients. Every client becomes a special person, becomes Godsent. And as we meet their needs with our humble service, commitment and good works, God delightfully meets our needs even exceedingly and abundantly beyond our own expectations. This is how to spread goodness. This is how to let our Light so shine. This is how Love wins. This is how Our Father in heaven will be glorified through us. Closing Verse: And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 |
Shelumiel:Well said. I've come to realise it's difficult to explain the Holy Spirit to anyone who still sees "him" as "it." I pray we all have more understanding. I recently realised when Jesus Christ was referring to the Holy spirit, He refered to him as Father. We just have to study John 14 and pray for Rhema. |
Maamin:Thanks but I still need more clarity. What are their functions? Does the heart have separate functions from the spirit? Does the soul have separate functions as the mind? My prior knowledge is that the soul contains the mind and is the seat of intellect and decision-making. Is this right? |
Maamin:Good morning sir. I came across this scripture and it truly made me know I need more clarity. Luke 10:25-28 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” 27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” I was surprised the mind was separated from the soul. I used to think they were more or less the same. Can you help disambiguate between Spirit, Soul, Mind and Heart. Thanks. |
Ladyhippolyta88:Any spiritual Christian knows she's ordained by God. She is not a baby Christian that would swallow Hook, line and sinker any prophecy. She must have been having the leading. The pastor only confirmed what God had laid in her heart. I used to think what Nigeria needed was a youth. I've come to realise that our solution comes from Christ, through a woman. When she announced her candidacy, I didn't need to be told, she's the one. We've been doing things the same way, yet the same debilitating depressing results. It's high time we tried something different. No more politics as usual. Any well meaning Nigerian should give this a chance. Is Buhari going to change? Can a snake like Atikuchange his skin? It's high time we realised the problem of Nigeria is both physical and spiritual. Carnal men no matter their good intentions have continued to fail us. Because there are forces beyond their ken on the seat of power in Aso Rock. It takes a Christ-carrying person to sit on that seat and not be overpowered. That's why any time Buhari was away on sick leave, Prof Osinbajo, a pastor, is able to resolve the economic, security and social challenges for the period he mounts that seat. He did that, not once, but twice.- during the restructuring brouhaha and Biafra agitation that seemed to out-wit and overpower Buhari. If we have to continue doing things the same old way and expecting a different result, then we need to check ourselves. God has already blessed Nigeria in all material and spiritual blessings. In all resources Nigeria is blessed. Poor, inept leadership has always been our problem. Atiku and Buhari constituted the problem of Nigeria, even if it can be argued they had good intentions. But of a truth, solution belongs to God, in a Christ-carrying leader who is Physically, intellectually and Spiritually fit for the Job. I believe that's who we have in Oby Ezekwesili. That she's a woman is the icing on the cake. Women are solution-driven, compassionate, relentless and magnifiers of goals. I pray we get it right this time in Jesus name. Amen. |
HOW TO DEAL WITH DEPRESSION There are medical, psycho-therapeutic and Christian ways to deal with depression. But I can only guarantee a permanent solution in Christ. There's a reason the pharmaceutical coys in US and globally are making a fortune off Antidepressants. People keep treating depression medically but it keep coming back till they become over-dependent on medication. If care is not taken, they still end up committing suicide There's a reason Brewery industry is making a fortune. People think they can drink away their sorrows. But they only end up becoming alcoholics and drunkards and if care is not taken they abuse their spouses and worse still could drink and drive and this leads to DUI,etc. There's a reason Tobacco and Drugs industry is unstoppable globally. People want to just drift away, not think about a thing. They want to silent their thoughts and demons. But unfortunately, this also resorts to drug abuse and if care is not taken, madness among other things. Some people immerse themselves in their work so that they won't have time to be depressed. Unfortunately this also does not being fulfillment. Some of the richest most successful business men/women to have been known to be battling depression or even commit suicide. So only Christ can give you a long-lasting abundant and eternal life of Peace. Only His Word can save our souls. But one wonders why not all Christians are immune to Suicide. I believe it is as a result of grieving the Holyspirit. Either they have not received the Holy Spirit or they keep grieving the Holyspirit. As long as one has true communion with the Holyspirit, Trusts and Obeys the Word of God, I it builds Faith, builds Hope. Depression would be completely obliterated and decimated.❌ Steps To Take Immediately: Walk with God. Confess your sins and Accept Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Saviour. Don't be idle. Keep yourself busy by being in His presence. Choose to know God through Jesus Christ, not because of a miracle, but to understand Him for who He is. Matthew 6:33. -Foundation class -Weekly services -Department duties -Study and meditate on the Word. Choose to change sonething, according to the word of God. It starts by changing from an unbeliever to a believer. Changing from not going to church to fellowshipping more. Changing by replacing a sinful habit with a Godly habit, etc. You will be so occupied with knowing Christ, you won't know when He has not only helped you overcome depression but also things will start working in your favour. Although challenges will come, people with offend you even within the church, it is all to help you grow, make you more humble and determine how serious you are. Also you will need to cut off some people from your life. Those who keep pulling you back to sin and those who keep making fun of your new life. When you're grown enough you can share your testimony with then and pray for their salvation too. I know these because these is all what I went through. I have not experienced depression since I gave my life to Christ. He delivered me completely. All Thanks, Glory and Praises to the Most High God. God help us all. |
Remember our soul (mind, thoughts) is what this life is all about, who controls our soul? The devil tries to corrupt our soul with wrong thoughts. He tries to corrupt the Glorious Vision that God created us for. If we do not know and grow in Christ, how can we know our Vision and purpose without the Holyspirit? As long as we keep attuning to the Word of God and grow in intimacy with the Holyspirit, we will certainly know our Purpose and never Lack vision again. |
Hope is what we have in Christ. When you build your hope on anything or anyone else, it is not a solid ground. Only Christ is the solid ground. People can fail you, money can fail you, your education can fail you, etc But Jesus Christ never fails. What is Christianity? It is simply defined as the Way of Faith. Now faith is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things unseen. When you come into Christ, He gives you REST. You experience an inexpressible Joy and Peace. We can't explain it, but it's our inheritance in Christ. We are no longer controlled by the cares, worries or anxieties of life, we have a confidence that God is in control of our lives. And His thoughts for us are Good. |
Like I stated earlier, the cause of Suicide is Hopelessness. You wonder why a celebrity would commit suicide? Why a rich man's kid (ajebo) or oyinbo pikin will commit suicide? Why a lady or guy will commit suicide over heart break! Why a debtor (Lapo/grooming/bank) would commit suicide? Etc Why a student would commit suicide in his final year ![]() It is simply a loss of hope. So the big question becomes, What is the cause of Hopelessness? |
bedspread:That is the Truth. My point exactically.lol Thanks sir. |
People commit suicide for various reasons. But the common denominator is Depression. People are also depressed for various reasons but the common denominator is the Bitterness which is Absence of Joy. Also people are bitter for various reasons but the common denominator is Hopelessness. Statistics around the world show that suicide rate is high. So much so that recently UK appointed a Minister for Suicide Prevention. But have they been able to prevent it? And have they been able to solve it. It is obvious that at some point something ctitucally went wrong that causes this spike in suicide rate. It is not news that the UK and US governments at some point became anti-religion, and consequently anti-God and anti-Christ. Enacting laws and implementing sanctions against religion and especially against the church. They literally chased God away from their schools, offices and even the media. Unless it's a Christian station, the names Jesus and God were bleeped. All in the disguise of freedom. They chose freedom to live in sin over the freedom from sin that is in Religion, especially in Christ Jesus. There's a popular axiom that says, Life without Christ is a life of Crises. |
bedspread:You've said it all sir. But some times believers who have experienced Christ also go through depression. What can you say about this? |
Michael's word's of comfort: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:28, 31-32, 34-39 KJV |
It is well. Trust me, what you think is such a big challenge, is nothing to God. You're probably wondering, so why won't he just do it since its nothing to Him. The truth is, there's something(s), he needs you to get rid of before he does what you need. Because getting that thing at the wrong time might invite problem. God knows what we want more than we know. The best part is, He knows the best time for us to have it. When I lost a bank job, I wanted to run mad. Today, I thank God I lost the job. You know why? That job would have led me straight to hell and my soul would be too seered in evil that it would be difficult for me to find salvation. The worst part, I would have destroyed several lives especially ladies along the way. Today, I'm not where I want to be but I'm far better than where I once was. I was proud, God needed me to become humble. I was egotistical and conceited, God needed me to be down to earth. I was stubborn, God needed me to be more yielding. I was too carnal, God needed me to be spiritual. Of course I was living in sin, God needed be to be pursuing righteousness. Etc So if I had maintained that job then with those my characters, I would really mess things up. So pls, know that God's time is perfect, for He makes everything beautiful in its time. Receive Strength, Faith and Revival in your spirit in Jesus name. |
Philippians 4:6-8 is my word against every depression or challenge I could ever face. It exhorts us not to worry about what's happening to us or around us. But to keep our focus on God, trusting, praising and growing in Him. As we do this, He will know we Love Him for Him, and He will certainly move into our situations. I used to say a Christian cannot feel Depressed because the presence of the Holyspirit itself produces Joy. But that Joy truly can only be sustained by constantly yielding to the Holyspirit and standing on God's word as we focus and grow in Christ. He will some how find someone to meet our need. Or give us an idea that will be the solution to that our challenge. Or He'll just let us change our perspective about our problem and we will begin to see it as a blessing. God works in mysterious and diverse ways, so let's just trust Him to do what only He can do. Knowing that He's ever faithful, ever sure. |
Once of the the best sermons that changed my life was a message about Veils. Veils refer to those things that prevent us from seeing God. 1. Sustenance. 2. People. 3. Distractions. 4. Grieving of the heart. Depression falls under Grieving of the heart. When we are depressed or grieving, it's difficult to keep faith alive because our circumstances seems at loggerheads with God's promises. So what is the solution. I suffered a lot of depression bouts due to challenges that came my way. It caused me to seek comfort and succour in bad habits that nearly destroyed my life. Until Christ stepped into my situation. Truly, Depression is the product of a loss of hope. This could be as a result of myriad of reasons, usually important but not as priority as the enemy magnifies it in our minds. The solution to depression is to stop believing the lies that the enemy keeps telling you. And to believe in the Truth. Your first and most important Truth is, Age is always on your side. You're not too old. In fact, your present age is the perfect age that God wants you to be in the condition you are, for you to be able to do what He needs you to do. Meaning, you're right on time. Now when you stop believing all the lies that you're too old to be employable. Or you're getting too old, go and marry. Or your business is a failure etc. You can fill in your gap. The truth is, that's all lies. Let the word of God which is the only Truth be your truth. You're saved. You're blessed. Etc. These words are mere words without faith. But for as many who receive them, they are Truths and the only Truth. |
