The human soul without the Holyspirit makes one dead even though he's alive physically.
Just as when God created Adam, he created him as a soul. But until God breathed His Spirit inside Adam did he become a Living Soul.

Which is why a Christian does not notice any physical changes when he gives his life to Christ by the Confession prayer. It is a spiritual rebirth. To be Born-again.

Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Now the man becomes both a spiritual man and a carnal man. The carnality is because of the things we have exposed our minds (soul) to all our lives.
It now becomes a journey, of renewing and transforming our minds through the Holy Spirit by replacing our old beliefs and thoughts to the Word of God. Our opinions become shaped by what the Word of God says, not what we have been exposed to by our cultures, hearsays, education, etc.
This is the Way of Faith.
This is how Faith comes.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17

As we keep replacing our old thoughts with the word of God, this fills our souls (mind and thoughts) and builds in us the Belief and Conviction in the Word of God and consequently builds our spirit.

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The goal is for our minds to be transformed into the mind of Christ.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:5

We have to keep yielding to the Holy Spirit and not our old inclinations of the flesh.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16

Now to conclude, Jesus Christ is the Word of God.

If I may ask, what is your opinion about the Holy Spirit, his operations in the life of men, and how we are meant to interact and relate with Him, because Jesus said when he comes he shall direct us into all truth. It means when the Holy Spirit comes, we shall surely be able to tell the difference between Him and our mind.

Well, I haven't seen any place in the Bible where Christians are to serve God with their mind. God is a Spirit, and the best means to understand a Spirit is to be one or come to the state of one. cc didov1

The things of God are communicated to our spirit with the help of the Holy Spirit. We cannot serve God adequately without our spirit working together with the Holy Spirit

So I was talking about this with a friend of mine(a guy by the way) and he was like it isn't possible at this age. I told him that I wanted to keep mine till I got married and he said there's no way I won't be tempted to do it before then.

Well, we argued about it and I was trying to tell him that it's very possible. He told me that I'll just end up being addicted to masturbation if I didn't 'release' my sexual tension.

A lot of girls wish they could return their virginity but it's impossible so you're a prey of their envy.
And yes it's possible to remain a virgin till marriage. It only depends on your conviction and why you are keeping it.
If you're keeping it because of the right guy, you will find many so called "right guys" wolves in sheep clothing that you will fall for and they would guilt you into sex.

But if you're keeping it to preserve your chastity till marriage, good. You will have to focus on God. You will have to channel your passion to knowing Christ and falling in love with Him more intimately.

Just remember he must be equally yoked and won't pressure you into sex, he will be marriage oriented like you.

Let me tell you guys a brief story.
When i was in secondary school, i was the best student in my class. I was so good that I represented my school in any competition held.

Going to university, i still had that flare. I was still very serious. I read like a mad person , but due to some factors , my gp was really bad in yr 2 and 3. Regardless of the fact that I studied hard. Other years were good but it was unfortunate i came out with a 2.2 degree. If a degrees were to be given according to your level of seriousness, I would have made a first class.

However, i came out of school thinking that atleast its not like 2.2 is a bad result, It’s average. I tried looking for a job, but everywhere says minimum 2.1. I had to settle for a teaching job which i still do now. I have given up on looking for job because everyone says the same thing. 2.2 has made me believe i am no longer intelligent. People in my family, my friends , my colleagues at work all believe that i am intelligent. But my degree tells me otherwise.

Now here is what saddens me. A friend of mine whom i knew i was better than academically back in school posted a picture of a car given to him by his employer. He came out with a 2.1 (p:s he got that job without knowing anyone in the company,he saw it online and applied).Everyone in the department knew how he always passed his exams. Although i am genuinely happy for him, but I am sad for myself. Do employers think that we 2.2 graduates are totally worthless? Coming out with 2.1 is a nice achievement and many people who got it worked really hard for it but many factors can make a bright student come out with 2.2. I have been teaching for three years now and I sometimes ask myself, would I continue like this? I don’t want to be like some of my colleagues who are way older than i am and still teaching. I am 25.

An advice to people in universities. Do any thing you can to come out with a 2.1. Don’t let that no job thing fool you. Read , cheat or buy 2.1, but do whatever it takes to come out with it. Get it first then listen to the no job story because your story can actually change with it. As for 2.2, there is actually no job unless you have somebody somewhere.

Not so long ago, I was in the same shoes. Everything you've written resonates with me.

We live in a country that sums up a person's life worth on a piece of paper called a CV. Also they make you feel old when you're still so young and vibrant.
Please you're still young and you have a lot to offer the world. Don't let anyone or employer tell you otherwise.

The first thing you need to know is that your CV does not define you. Once you know this, your sense of self worth is restored personally.
But how do you prove to others and prospective companies that you're much more than your CV?

I could tell you to up your CV by going for professional certifications or Masters , etc But I kid you not, if you don't deal with some personal issues, it will only be a gamble.
So what do I offer?
What life and experience taught me.
I've come to realise every issue, problem is just an opportunity to seek God.

Most of our issues in life start spiritually.
Now this doesn't necessary mean there's a witch or wizard somewhere in your village "doing you".
It just means you have to get right with God.

God truly is our Creator. In manufaturing terms, He is our Manufacturer.
Hence, how can we live a successful, productive life without His Manual?
He, and only He knows our Purpose, our Why, How and What. All our questions have answers in Him.

Please, get things right with God first.
I do not preach religion. But I can only assure you that my answers came when I retraced my steps and it led me back to Christ.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

I hope a lot of Christians will be humble enough to ask themselves "Am I truly a Christian?"
I hope we don't just read and pass as we often do assuming it is a message for unbelievers and not for us saints.

I remember my first testimony as a new born again last year, (having supposedly been a Christian all my life since I was raised in a Christian home), I got to know Jesus Christ not as a Character but as the Word of God. That little unveiling made all the difference to me.
Not that I had not heard that Jesus is the Word, but it became a reality to me.

Truly, I still have to check myself to be sure I truly sure of my standing that I know Jesus Christ as revealed by the Holy Spirit and not as a Character in a bible story book. For truly, every teaching applies to everyone for edification.

I know that my emotional intelligence needs a revamp! I could relate with everything you wrote. Sometimes I feel I've been too far from God, overridden his mercies, like he's given me countless opportunities to make things right, so I just leave myself to chance and fate.

Is it possible to be close to God and still have to deal with unfortunate social habits? Is God aware I'm only human? I have an idea of the kinda life that pleases God, but it seem so impossible to live that lifestyle! Like I'm too far off or something.. Life's hard!

Truth is we put too much pressure on ourselves.
God is a patient God. He understands our weaknesses.
Christianity is a journey, Eternal life is the destination.
God doesn't mandate or expect us to perfect in a day or week or year. Even the pastor is not yet perfect.
It's just the heart that matters. In the sincerity of your heart, you have to choose to be living right.
Being a Christian empowers you with righteousness.
Even when you fall to sin, you receive the strength not to fall again.
God is a patient God, if He has been so patient while we were living and loving sin, how much more patient now that we are loving and pursuing righteousness.

When I gave my life to Christ and became born-again I was still drinking and sexually immoral among other things.
But the more I grew in understanding and love for Christ, I decided I wanted to stop the habits and one by one He gave me strength to overcome them.
His Grace covers all sins.
Unfortunately some still choose to use the Grace to continue destroying themselves in sin when it was given to Empower us over sin.

You just choose to start. To rededicate yoirself to Christ. To follow and learn of Christ afresh. You'll fall in love with Him all over again.

Lol it always starts with a first step and an intentional focus and determination to reach the destination.
But I always advise to start spiritually. Get things right with God first, the rest becomes easier.

Emotions

Emotions simply defined, means feelings.
The emotions we start our day with could determine if we'll have a good day or a horrible day. You hear statements like "I woke up on the right side or wrong side of the bed."
The air of emotions we regularly carry around also determines our perceptions and how we interact with others.

Some basic emotions are Happiness, Sadness, Fear, Courage, Frustration, Enthusiasm, Disgust, Anxiety, Anger, Surprise, Hatred, Love, Jealousy, etc

Emotions are universal. Meaning all humans no matter the race, culture, or gender experience the same emotions. We however express and respond differently to our emotions. While anger could trigger violence in some, it could trigger tears in others. While jealousy could make one simply end a relationship, another person could become "acrimonious". (Beware of Melinda.lol)
In both scenarios, it is the same emotions but different expression- Anger in the former and Jealousy in the latter.

All Emotions are good, as they all serve their various purposes but they can be abused. Even fear and anger are good.
Fear helps us know when our reaction should be Fight or Flight.
Anger is a cue that some thing is wrong.
The best cure for Anger is to ask the person, "Tell me what's wrong."
And the best cure for fear is faith, reassurance.
Our emotions play a major role in our lives, it shapes us and creates our outlook on life.

The ultimate question then becomes, who controls who?
Do you control your emotion or does your emotion control you?

This brings us to Emotional Intelligence. Understanding our emotions.
There are four stages in understanding our emotions, viz

1. Self Awareness
This is the process of understanding your own emotions. Ability to tune in to information that relates to you. This determines your perception of life and situations.

2.. Self Management
This is the process of Self Control and Self Motivation. Ability to shake off bad moods and create good mood.
Ability to carry out necessary tasks even if you don't like them. Ability to bounce back from setbacks. Pysching yourself up!

3. Social Awareness
This is the process of being conscious and understanding the emotions of others. How your mood and actions affect others, like wise how other people's mood and actions affect you.

4. Interpersonal Expertise
This is the state of conscious competence. You have a good control of your emotions and the emotions of others. Ability to relate with others, work out conflicts,  give and take criticisms, take consensus and communicate well. Everyone loves to be around people like this, they make the best uncles and bosses.lol They are Confident, Tenacious, Optimistic and Enthusiastic.

You start to wonder, if understanding our emotions is so important how come we were never taught?
Unfortunately our education system focuses on Intelligence Quotient, building our academic intelligence but pays little or no attention to our Emotional Quotient, building our emotional intelligence.

However, it is just as practical as making a deliberate effort to build ourselves emotionally.

How To Build Your Emotional Intelligence
1.Learn to Listen to how you talk to yourself
2. Use your thoughts as instructional self-statements.
3. Be aware of your intentions
4. Observe your actions.
5. Learn to Relax - on cue
6. Generate Humour
7. Become a good problem solver
8. Practise the power of positive criticism
9. Listen to the message of emotions
10. Make tasks underwhelming.

One who masters his emotions, masters his world.

Emotional Intelligence is everything at work, at home and in life!

We need sound advice from you guys.

A cousin got a good job that pays six figures and is expected to start in a week. The few days to commencement of work he received an interview invite from a multinational company that will pay him thrice and other amazing benefits. It is a sort after position and there is no guarantees that he may get in even though he is a bright and an intelligent dude.
He has resigned from his former position and is waiting patiently to start the new work before this interview invitation popped up. What do you suggest he'd do?

Wisdom is necessary for such situation.
There are two scenarios here;

- Has he signed the letter of employment?
If yes, he cannot afford to dishonour the contract.

Know how God speaks to you, let Him lead you.
We are on a walk of faith, it is a journey. Our destination is to attain the image, likeness, Mind and Glory of Christ.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.
Let us keep navigating the Glorious Path of Righteousness according to His Will by Faith, a step at a time.
It will eventually become our nature. It becomes Auto-pilot.
We will come to see and understand that His way is way more peaceful, blessed, fulfilling and easy.

All belongs to God. We ought to always acknowledge Him first in all things.
Whatever income we receive, let us know first that it is not all ours alone. Let us ask God who, what and why He has blessed us for. Starting with the church first, then others, then our needs.
Let us trust His leading, as long as you know how and when He leads you, He always watches over His every word to perform it. And He will never let His holy ones suffer corruption.
The truth is, this produces favours. God raises people to bless you likewise, more than you blessed others and much more that you may continue to be a blessing.
