@iv, its the wet wipe you are referring to same thing as baby wipe. If its the same, then you have a point. Its much better to clean with a wet wipe which will remove all traces of waste than dried tissue paper.

@Ebose, please kindly explain the preparation methods for the soya meal. I actually do add store bought soya beans powder to his pap. Or are we talking about the same thing?

PS: PLEASE ITS NOT ADVISABLE TO FEED A BABY LESS THAN 1YEAR OLD HONEY. In doing that you are exposing the child to Botulism caused by Clostridium botulinum, a deadly bacteria which is sometimes present in honey. Doesn't affect adult but can kill a baby. Google botulism for more information.

Op you need to first know about your fertility profile. Go to a hospital and carry out Seminal Fluid Analysis test. Do it just to make sure you are ok fertility wise. Then try to hear from your wife. I mean her story. Why she went that far just to give you a child. Is she barren? Is her fertility questionable?

My sister that is the essence of this thread, to learn ways to feed and to read the experiences of other mothers. Now am convinced my baby is not doing anything abnormal and am no longer worrying myself to the point of stress. I was really worried he wasn't eating cos i used to think that as soon he clocks 6months, he will naturally like food but alas i he had other plans for me.

I must confess i have learnt alot from this thread.

Oil? Hearing that for the first time. Are you talking about palm oil or vegetable oil? And what is the purpose of that?

@efemana, thanks for posting that link. I read the story, even though the lady mearnt no harm, still i can't help but agree with the court. She went too far.

@efemana, about your first post, i believe we are intelligent beings and we are supposed to thoroughly sieve all the advice, suggestions and ideas people give on nairaland and in general and pick what we feel as the right advice (that is even if any). And NO! i can never pinch or beat my baby all in the name of feeding him.

@second post, yeah, like you and the other ladies have said, i am more relaxed now and now believe he will start eating properly in his own time. He was exclusively brea.st fed so that has contributed to him having difficulty in adjusting to cereals, puddings and the rest.

Thanks joy. I have been doing the things you described in the first post. It just breaks my heart to hear him cry (but as soon as i dont put anything in his mouth again, he suddenly starts smiling and you will never believe it was the same baby that was screaming down the house seconds ago).
About the distraction, you are right on that one. Another thing that i “manage“ to use to distract my baby is music. He loves the sound of music so i just play him songs from my phone and immediately he starts to concentrate on that (even though he has no idea what he is hearing) while i try my best to feed him.

The only thing with my baby is that even if he willingly opens his mouth for food, trust him to use his little tongue to push almost everything out. I will use his spoon to scrape the food from his chin, feed him again and same thing happens. We continue with that process till the spoon becomes empty and by the time we are through with one spoon, its almost 15minutes so you can imagine how long it will take by the time he starts eating up to 5spoons. Well, GOD DEY.

@peterson, thanks. Funny i have picassa software in my laptop but i have never used it! That will be my assignment for tomorrow.
About the postimage, it seems i can only use it with a laptop. I browse more with my phone but i will try and see if it will work.

The funny thing is that if at all he is going to accept a spoon, i will have to make a demonstration of me eating a spoon first and this has to go on all through yet he won't eat more than 1 or 2 spoons. Hmmn, i guess its part of the motherhood experience and am loving it.

Oh dear, thank you so much. I followed your instructions. My phone camera settings was formally at 1280x1024 resolution but when i reduced it to 640x480 and later 320x240, i got low pictures as low as 30kb yet with ok quality. I will adjust my digital camera settings now. Thank you.
