The two ladies above have spoken well. The only reason you will want to cancel the marriage is because you don't love the man. If you love him deeply, that thought won't be in your head. On another note, i understand why you are confused. I know how difficult it is to get a job, much more a very good one like you mentioned. Whatever decision you arrive at, make sure you apply wisdom ok so won't regret it later. |
My heart is so heavy. Please take heart ok. May they all rest in the bossom of our dear Lord. |
d-guy:Still i will like it if he makes provision in our profile section where nairalanders can indicate their marital status and possibly age group i.e. age range 18-25, 26-30,30-35, 36-40 etc. |
d-guy:Did you say vote? hahahahaha nobody go gree ooooooo. its ok............anonymity all the way........ |
Its far easier for ladies to change their names through marriage than guy. |
Op while its good to blab our mouth here, mind what you say because a time will come when someone here will mock you by referring to an old thread of yours. I have seen it done on two different threads. If you want to let every thing out especially very sensitive issues, make sure you use another username so no one here will ever have to use your life stories to mock you. I hope you get my drift. |
okeyxyz: @PrettyCindy, it seems what you are looking for is a dating site, but @nairaland is a general purpose site that puts the choice and control of it's use at the hands of it's users to spin anyhow they like. if you wanna reveal yourself completely, then that's your choice, you'll have to bear the risks as well it's benefits.Oga Okey... i know the difference between a dating site and nairaland. Am not looking for a dating site you hear! I only had a thot which i threw out to the general public of nairaland. From the responses above, i have been able to understand clearly the consequences of such. Thanks anyway. |
Ok. Thanks all. I get what you all are trying to say and its actually true. Even i appreciate and enjoy the privacy. Maybe in the nearest future, there will be an overall updating of nairaland to look like face book BUT THIS ANONYMOUS FORUM WILL STILL BE OPEN. There will be no single connection or similarity between your true identity and your fake username. Nairaland will get there. |

Sattors: pretty cindy u are ishan by tribe? No. Only had my University education in Ekpoma. |
As i have rightly observed, nairaland have a very large community/members. Is there a way we can have a page or something where we can be our real selves? Real name, true complete profile with pictures? I will like to have friends here (both sexes) but its difficult because you don't know which man/woman that is married ( one has to be careful you know) or single, you don't know who is a teenager or who is matured. Mr Seun am sure you get what am trying to say. While its fun doing the anonymous thing, lets have a page or update your profile to include marital status and age group pls. Does anyone support this? |
@ Mrmayor, thanks for clearing that up. Biblically God personally changed the names of a few persons and their lives were changed for ever. Some persons are lucky while some aren't. While i agree that the name one bears partly determines that persons luck in life, its not in all cases. Like someone pointed out earlier, there is someone else who bears Goodluck but is poor. One thing i have observed is that people with names that have negative meaning are affected the most. I had a coursemate whose name is Spencer, well believe me when i say he did behave like Mr Spencer we all know in the TV. If my name had a bad (real bad) meaning, i would have changed it long ago. Come to think of it; mordern day parents don't name their children like our parents, grand and great grand parents did. My own maternal grandparents named all their daughters based on the situation and conditions that surrounded their birth. But these days you hear names like Praise, Honest, Miracle, I believe, Prayer (i have seen the children) etc etc. My son was born exactly 9months after my grand dad died and he was a man we all loved with passion. I wanted to name him after my granddad but my grand dad's native name mearnt "looking", it didn't go down well with me so we opted for something better. A name is something we are identified with & it is usually for a life time even till after death so i don't blame people who on realising their names mean something negative opt to change it. I wish i knew my late grand aunt whose name was Igbon-meaning slave, i would have asked her why she was named such and why she didn't change it. Beats me. |
sylve11: no u don't have to change that name, i'd suggest go to the nearest zoo; seek permission from the zookeeper. walk straight to where lions are been kept, then look for one to ''Kolobi'' A.K.A ''Tighneck''. Exactly what Samson did in the Bible.Lol. You are wicked ooo! Am browsing with a phone so i couldn't check for the meaning of Samson but am sure it means something good and positive, besides its a cute name. I don't see any reason why you should change it. |
penelope9: @poster.Maureen means great and is from celtic origin.Google is your friend. Some people are barren because of the atrocities they commited in the past couple with their wicked heart.Really? I will confess that i didnt really check for the meaning. It was just lasty week i met an old friend and neighbour in a saloon, i called out her name (Maureen) and she politely told me that she has stopped bearing the name for almost 2yrs and the reason she gave was that the name means darkness. Anyway thanks. I will google it when i logg off from nairaland. |
But Moremi you will agree with me that things have changed. I mean parents don't name their children anyhow again compared to the olden days. Parents now find out the meaning of names before naming their kids. I bet in those days they didn't else why would parents name their daughter Maureen - darkness? |
Please someone should me with the link for this topic: MOTHERS WITH YOUNG BABIES. Thanks |
Madam cotton101, how are you doing and how is your little princess, hope you guys are great. |
I wonder why our grand and great grand parents named their children that way. I want to believe they copied such actions from the bible because virtually all children that were born were named based on the situation that surrounded their birth. Just yesterday my mum told me that i had a grand aunt (i never knew her) whose name was "Igbon" meaning a slave. Can you imagine? One of my aunt's name means "my friends are not many" and believe me when i say this my aunt who lived with us before getting married never had and still doesn't have friends. Na wa sha, i will never give my children horrible or funny names. |
HELL NO! Its only a matter of time before the stup.i.d husband kills her and takes over. |
Jenny that chocolate cake is sure making me salivate. My birthday is on the 12th of June, abeg e send my own too. Cheers |
I know two person who had to change their name; one was formally Maureen while the other was Endurance. In some cases people are told by their pastors to to change and even provide them with new names. Those who bear Endurance or Patience are told that they will always encounter stumbling blocks to in their various endeavours, Maureen means darkness, Linda means snake and so on and the list continues........ My name means goddess of the sun, someone actually told me to change it or stop answering it but i didn't. So what do you think about names with negative meaning. Did you ever change your name? |
Johndoe100: @OPMy God! Are you married? Like seriously? With all the negativity you vomit here, i never pegged you for a married man. Na wah ooo. |
Mtcheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew. Load of crap. Such weirdo! |
I wouldn't say you should get rid of your single friends but be very careful the kind of discussions you have with them. Don't let people fill your head with all sorts of trash especially with this thread you opened. The moment you start having an iota of doubt and lack of trust for your husband, your marriage will take a nose dive to an ugly route. Be wise and be warned! |
I feel you op. My friend is my confidant and i hers. There are things i can never discuss with family but can pour my heart out to her and she is quite matured in age and thinking and we both know we wont blab to others. While family is supposed to be the best option, they can mock you later with that supposed- to- be private thing you discussed with them. Op i experienced same thing with my ex husba.nd. He acted as a saint to outsiders but was the most heartless and wicked human being to me. His close friends know his true character and was not suprised i walked. Same also an old neighbour, the first day i saw him, i concluded he is the most gentle man on earth but 2 days later he was beating hell out of his pregnant wife. He slept outside their home at will and never had 10 kobo respect for his wife. Concerning the premature ej.acula.tion thing, start practicing kegel exercise (google kegel exercise for men, it helps improve the condition and try to google HOW TO STOP PREMATURE E.JA.CU.LATION or any topic you can coin out from it. There are lots of free materials on the net that you can access to find solution to your problem. Goodluck! |
@ efem, your post cracked me up this morning. @op, when i was pregnant, i wished to give birth during the day time. The funny thing is we were told to bring Lantern (General Hospital).........i finally delivered my son by 3:17am. Most marital acts takes place at night so i want to believe it is related to pregnant mothers giving birth during the night. |
The importance of having a father cannot be over emphasized. But there are some person who havent lived with their dad wish they didnt. Growing up, we lived in a compound where the landlord was a drunk happily married to his ogogoro. The wife could not divorce him because of their five children and they, being Catholics couldnt because Catholic church doesnt support divorce. They quarelled virtually everyday and it was indeed always a shouting match. We no longer live there but when i discuss with thier second child who is my friend and age mate, she never fails to express her displeasure and lack of fatherly love. Even her only brother never got any single attention from their father. He has never cared and still doesnt care about his 5 children. The funny thing is he doesnt womanise, just loves ogogoro to a fault! @op, do you prefer to live with a father like that and watch your parents express nothing but pure hatred towards each other all your life (i mean the period you live with them?) |
Quite simple....... If he does not win presidential election or if power does not shift back to the north, THERE WILL BE WAR. U know our country is pretty messed up: if this statement was made in a country like America, i think he would have been arrested or asked to publicly explain what he mearnt. But in Nigeria, anything goes and worst of we have a weakling as ‘onye na achi anyi‘. Its well! |
That is not the post am referring to. I asked u in another post if u live in Delta state. Anyway no probs. Bye |
@op u didnt reply to my question. Well i only wanted to help but it would have involved you coming down to Delta state. Anyway i hope and pray the Lord will put smiles on u and ur wife‘s face no matter how he does it or who he uses. Goodluck! |
