uckyra:Normal blood pressure reading is usually 90-120/55-80. If yours is slightly above this then u should be more careful. Cause you are headed for pre-hypertension. From 140/90 and above is hypertension. If your blood pressure reading falls in the hypertensive range, don't start any blood pressure medication at all even if the doctor insist. Once a person is put on blood pressure medications then such medications would be taken for life. So I will advise lifestyle modifications. 1. You must be physically active. This can be achieved through cardio and resistance exercises. Avoid been sedentary, even if your job entails it. Once in awhile do stretches, use the stairs instead of lifts. 2.Your diet is very important. You must be diet-disciplined. Always try as much as possible to eat whole foods( foods in their natural state or near natural states). Like fruits and vegetables. Minimize your intake of fatty foods. Steamed or boiled foods are better than fried ones. 3. Minimize your consumption of salt. Maggi and the likes contains monosodium glutamate (msg) and this can quickly raise your blood pressure rapidly. It is in this country, u find someone cooking with salt and Maggi at the same time. Salt and Maggi are the same. If you must add spice, then use locust beans. 4. Minimize your stress-level. For me once it is 10p.m my system shuts down till the following day. You must have at least 7 hours of restful sleep. 5. Minimize your consumption of junk foods like indomie, shawarma, barbeque and the likes. Do you know that cat-fish pepper soup is as dangerous as eating pork?? 6. Avoid carbonated drinks like Pepsi, coke and the likes. The best thirst quencher in the world is WATER. This lifestyle modification is for a lifetime. You will see a remarkable change in your body system. Trust me it is not going to be easy but you would be better for it. |
