abacha is an udi/ezeagu delicacy. Abia dey learn work where Enugu dey
No. Other-than a pocketful of places in Enugu State, 042/043 abacha really isn’t all-that. Igba-Wa(a)wa (okpa), sure, but their abacha quality is half-and-half. They do well compared to Imo State folk (obviously - their own na plain ugba salad, which is fair-enough) but between Ebonyi and Abia at-least (Anambra not so much) they have fierce competition. They’re not as uniformly-good with abacha as you think they are.

Between SOUTHEAST and SOUTHSOUTH who have more super nutritional meals?

LIKE for SOUTHEAST, SHARE for SOUTHSOUTH
Probably south-south in terms of technical nutritional variety but Igbos have the most well-assorted menu that’s concretely well-known all across Nigeria and it happens to be pretty-healthy, too.

Ondo, Ekiti and the middle chunk of Osun try (and some of their soups really are nutritious and tasty, especially Ondo City’s sumptuous take on okro-soup) but they lack the variety. And the less said about other Yorubas and any food that’s not party/small-chops-esque, rice or beans-related, the better. They don’t really know how to cook anything-else (except maybe ikokore and efo riro, but I’d still rather take the latter with pounded yam from a conscientious Ekiti woman than a lazy Ibadan one who lives-and-breathes oil).

One of our family-friends is from Edda and her version of abacha (she does a banging coconut-jollof rice as-well) is what made me love abacha-ncha in the first place.

Orumba-ncha must be good but there are few places in Anambra state that can do it as well as Edda and Nkanu folk for what I know.

So which one is Abacha Ncha
This (any type of abacha that’s mixed with palm oil, as-opposed to boboze-lite abacha, the invariably-ocha kind). These are all just different variations of abacha-ncha.

But for-real (and-again) southern Ebonyi (Afikpo), certain parts of Abia and Awka and Oji River/Nkanu (so long as the ogili-isi is moderated, to stop it tasting too bitter; Waawa folk have a tendency to go overboard with ogiri as far as abacha’s concerned) do it best as far as I know. Especially Edda (Afikpo).

Lol grin grin cheesy I have nothing against Edo people because our ancestors married thousands of Edo women in earlier contact. So know it that Yorubas were maternally and still linked with Edoid, Igboid, Barubas,Tapas, etc

Infact, one of my ancestor in around tale end of 1700s made people followed under his leadership at Ora in Edo as warriors grin cheesy wink with evidence of big Gold chain seized at Bini which is a war booty.

Furthermore omomo masquerade was defeated and taken to a new abode. So, we do not tell false information and we know where we lost and won. Chikena grin

Therefore stop assumption because there is a difference between opinion and fact. This is why such posting on similarities of languages, songs or dresses, traditions etc online should be authentic and not assumption.

Make research so that you will not mislead millions of people.

Cheers

But it were killed in the wrong way. I wouldn’t mind mgbada/venison-broth-flavoured jollof rice, stew or ofe-onugbu but not at the expense of a deer who just happened to be going about her day only to get flooded to death. I’m not super-ethical about meat (I still eat meat like there’s no tomorrow, after-all) but this is pretty sad.

Thanks for sharing the article. I wanted to see the original article to understand your original statement about: ‘Asaba fast loosing their edo language’. Your earlier statement does not appear induced nor insinuated in Ajayi’s writing that you referenced. Understood, a few words and cultural practices may have been borrowed from the Edo, plus maybe some later Edo migrants may have settled in Asaba, however it remains unlikely that the entire Asaba people originated from Edo.
Agreed. I’d say Asaba-people migrated from Nri more than anywhere-else (ditto for Iselle-and-Ogwashi-Ukwu folk). The whole Edoid-origin fixation wanes the closer you get to the nuclear Enuani-Igbo area (compared-to Bendel/Ika folk). Whatever more-westerly origins they have (unless they’re of the Olukunmi stock) hold no-more mmili in that sense than Igala does to good chunks of Anambra or Ibibio/Annang to Ohafia/Ngwa.

I'm Igbo I understood 90% of what he said...is that ukwuani or ila dialect
It’s Ika and in-fairness the lexicon per-se did match-up with more-mainstream Igbo dialects but the Edoid intonation just gets me every time as far as ndu-Ika is concerned. I thought that in 2017 and I still think that now. And I’m not even sure if Ukwuani people can really be classified as Igbo at all. I’m going to need a lot more convincing as far as they’re concerned.

Nothing connected with cannabis should be a crime if alcohol’s perfectly-legal (which it should be). It’s time this nonsensical war against drugs (and cannabis is a plant more than anything-else) came to an end. They do more harm than the substances themselves.

someone with this screenshot sincerely had this fear of a Benin takeover. He seem to have this innate fear of a Bini supremacy.

My brother we are not talking about genetic relations. There are two things I pointed out, his innate fear of Bini dominance and colonization of Ika. And the second one he is sincerely oblivious of in two phases 1, that the name was not changed, that it is a full fledged Bini name, and the other that he is paternally Edo, which sincerely he did not know also until I read later that Ehikwe told him
Lol.
