NIGERIAN WOMEN IN HISTORY Where Is She? Funmi Adams’ Fans Are Going All Out To Find Out Why She Suddenly Dissapeared From Our Screens ByWoman.NG Posted on November 7, 2016 188 SHARES ShareTweet it! If you grew up in the late 80s and early 90s then you will know at least one of these songs – ‘Nigeria, my beloved country,’ ‘Ahayye Yaro,’ ‘Mama thank you for your love,’ ‘Omode o,’ and ‘All we need is love.’ They are songs by Funmi Adams, a singer known for her love for children and for championing patriotism and oneness through her songs. She has not been seen or heard for many years now, and some of her fans who grew up listening to her songs have been searching for her. A thread was created on Nairaland by a user called Bennie on October 4, 2007, he wanted to know the location of the singer but he got no useful response as other users wondered if she is still alive or dead. Between 20O7 and 2016, her fans on this thread have done a lot to find her or at least get her videos on youtube for future generations. They are doing as much as contributing money, travelling out of their states, collecting each other’s contact details to make their dreams of reviving her songs come true. In 2014, a user by the name Warrenwestecontacted Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin Dudu, the executive producer of Funmi Adams songs. Tunde said that Sony MD Okunowo and her music producer, Laolu Akins, who is his neighbour also do not know if she is still alive or dead. Her saxophonist, Michael when contacted by Warrenweste through email said, working with Funmi was strictly business as she was a private person, however, Warrenweste was directed to a professor in the US, Akin Euba that Funmi also worked with. Her saxophonist also said that the last time he saw her was in 1993 when she was still staying in Ikoyi in Lagos. Interestingly, Warrenweste explained that one of the boys who performed in ‘Nigeria, my beloved country’ video informed him that Funmi Adams performed at Muson centre in 2010 during the 50th Independence Day celebration. Another fan Lyoncrescent contacted Professor Akin Euba via email and he said Funmi lived in Pittsburg, Pennyslvania, where he lived but he has not heard from her in years. According to Lyoncrescent, Akin Euba explained that the last time he saw her was either in 2007 or 2008 and noted that he was not sure if she was married which could explain a change of name, if there is any. The search seem to be yielding results when Warrenweste announced on the 1st of this month that a church member in the US who worships in the same church with Funmi Adams said she is alive. Although, we don’t know how reliable the information is yet or what they plan to do when they eventually find her, but it is so touching to know that she made such a huge impact in the lives on her fans. source: www.woman.ng |

But in short, well, I was duped all in the name of fighting for the greener-pastures and for the betterment of myself and my family (Good life for my kids especially) I sold everything I had and trusted this man who happened to be a coach to someone I know so very close and he promised to help me process some working/traveling documents to Canada with a job. Based on someone I know for a long period of time and with trust, I followed up and submitted all he asked me to submit. Tears always flow whenever I remember or start explaining how everything went. I am a hustler right from my childhood, struggling so hard to help my family my parents and my younger once. Now I'm stuck here in Abuja sleeping in an uncompleted building but my wife doesn't know about it. Politics › Re: Explanation Of Land Sizes In Nigeria by ProfGday(m): 10:02am On Dec 19, 2019 |
CotenantNIG: LAND SIZE FOR REAL ESTATE
One of the most interesting facts about REAL ESTATE in Nigeria is Land Size. https://i1.wp.com/cotenant.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Snapshot-2.jpg?resize=750%2C422&ssl=1
People normally are confused with the range of Land Size in Nigeria. Many don't understand what a 300Sqm Land is and what a 600Sqm Land is. That can be confusing right? Also, many are confused about what can be constructed on particular land size. That is one of the realities of the real estate industry.
Also, people tend to misunderstand the unit of measurement for land size. Many believe it to be measured in feet, others in meters. To be honest, I don't think there should be any confusion when it comes to real estate. However, let's understand what a plot of land is in Nigeria.
A plot of land is the term for a piece of Land. Though an arbitrary term, it is represented in breadth and a length which is the appropriate way to measure the size of a land Besides, a piece of land can be measured both in feet and also in meters.
The funniest thing is that you can also measure land in centimeters, but let's not go there for now. So from research, the standard plot size is 50 by 100 feet. However, when land is offered for sale it is usually offered in square meters. Now someone is confused, right? Not to worry.
When an advert for a land hits your view and the sizes are written this way 600sqm 450sqm 300sqm, this is what to do.
First of all:
1 Determine your most preferred unit of measurements. This helps you to choose whether you need to convert or not
2 Personally, my most preferred unit of measurement is in sqm. This is because it is easy for me to understand and I think for anybody also. Note that the measurement of land is simply determined by calculating the area. Which gives you an answer in square feet that's if you are using feet as a unit of measurement or square meter if you are using the meter
3 Now a standard plot is measured in Nigeria 50 by 100 feet This 50 is in width and 100 in length. Now, this size is enough to accommodate a standard four-bedroom duplex and a small compound. However, in Lagos, a standard plot is 60 by 120 feet. So since I prefer my measurement in a square meter, then let's convert.
4 You convert that's if you prefer your measurement in a square meter. Now the conversion rate varies, some say its 3.14 but from the thorough research we did, I believe the conversion rate is 3.28. To be on a safer side let's choose a conversion range of 3.14 to 3.28. This is because when it comes to land, there is an allowance for error in measurements. But we are going to be using 3.28 for this conversion. So when converting from feet to meters, divide the value of feet by 3.28 and do the vice versa when converting from meters to feet.5.
Let's convert. For a standard plot of 50 by 100 feet, when you divide the values by 3.28, you will get 15 by 30 meters. 6. Calculate the area in square meters. 15 multiplied by 30 will give you 450Sqm. Now, this size is practically enough for building a duplex and you will still have a garage and a small compound for four cars. This still depends on how you want to build your house. Because the use of size is relative and It depends on how well you can make use of available space. Let's look at 60 by 120 ft and convert by dividing the values by 3.28. This will give us 18 by 36 meters.Find the area, this will be 648Sqm.
Now, this is the plot size but note that you can't build on an entire plot size which is why when real estate companies sell lands in 600sqm, they are reserving about 48sqm from your plot and other subscribers which definitely will be used for the road networks. However sometimes, like I said when it comes to measuring land, there is an allowance for error, so sometimes the 48sqm removed is just an allowance for error.
What is the point of all this calculation?
This will enable you to understand the number of spaces on a land size available for one to build a comfortable structure. So it is not just about getting the correct value of Land size, you just need to be within a range, so that whether you approximate or not, your value will still be within the range perfect for your choice of structure. In conclusion, we have done a little example of land size and how you can use available space for a perfect structure. For this example, we are going to be using the smallest standard land size which is half a plot 300sqm.
We have decided to use the least to enable everyone to understand why even the least can do much. The picture below shows approximately a 326 Sqm piece of Land which can also be referred to as half a plot in Nigeria's land size metric. The house size is about 200 Sqm. The Ground floor has two bedrooms, one kitchen, and a general toilet and of course a small living room.
One of the bedrooms on the ground floor also has a toilet attached to it.On the second floor which is technically the first floor, we have three bedrooms and also a living room. That's quite much, so the whole structure can be tailored to a three-bedroom duplex with one room on the ground floor and two bedrooms on the first floor. And we also a master living room on the first floor. The land also has enough space therefore for a garage to house two cars(One Saloon and a Jeep) and a power bike. The land is then surrounded by beautiful gardens revealing the serenity of a beautiful home. So who says 300 Sqm is not a full plot? Why not invest in a landed property today. What a very educative piece. Well done op |

frankdoz: Yoruba people for ages had been known for very deceptive tendencies. This is exemplified by the recent ordeal of Omoyele sowore, a prominent key figure in southwest. The abandonment of sowore, may not be unconnected to the following reasons;
* - Omoyele sowore is Oduduwa; not Yoruba or Yaribanza. * - Omoyele Sowore is not a Yoruba Muslim, rather a Yoruba Christian minority. * - Yoruba's want to sacrifice sowore for 2023 presidential agenda. * - Omoyele sowore is seen as ally to Nnamdi Kanu, a perceived threat and hater of Yoruba nation. * - Omoyele sowore is an opposition to Fulani north, key ally to Yoruba west.
* You can add yours!!! Your education is a waste, pls return your Bsc certificate to whoever awarded it to you, you're not worthy to stand toe to toe with people of great knowledge in the public. Thanks |

Phones › Re: 6 Ways To Detect A Fake Phone by ProfGday(m): 8:05am On Dec 06, 2019 |
bravesoul247: The smartphone market in recent times has become saturated with fake phones and many unsuspecting buyers have been scammed into buying fake phones for the price of an original one. Fake phones especially Android phones have become so rampant that one wonders if phone dealers are deliberately taking advantage of their customers.
Some of these fake phones in the market are the so called ‘UK or London Used Phones’ and fairly used phones, there are also fake new phones but they don’t seem to be as many as the used phones. Before, it was mainly top phone brands worldwide such as TECNO, Samsung, Nokia, iPhone, HTC, Sony, LG, Motorola, Huawei and others that had many imitations but now even smaller brands such as Infinix, Gionee, Innjoo and Itel are also been faked.
Most of these fake phones match the original phones almost exactly in design and since most phone buyers are not tech savvy, they are very easily deceived. Many people do not know they bought a fake phone until after a while when they probably meet someone with the original version of the phone and find huge differences between their phone and the original. Even small phones popularly called ‘Torchlight phones’ have fake versions, Chai, dia ris God o!
1) The best way to know a fake phone is by testing its camera. It takes quite a lot of work to build a quality phone camera and it seems most fake phone manufacturers cannot replicate original cameras. Take pictures with the phone’s cameras, both back and front cameras but especially the back camera and compare them with pictures captured by the original phone’s camera. The best way to compare is to search online for pictures taken with the phone’s camera, a simple Google search can be your saviour from buying a fake phone. Take videos also with the camera and compare the video quality with the original phone’s videos.
2) Another way to detect if a phone is fake, although it is not fool proof is to check the phone grammar thoroughly, I realized that most fake phones have some misspellings, they might be difficult to find but with patience and thorough usage, you will find them.
3) You should also check for the phone’s specifications and features online and compare them to the phone you want to buy, if even one thing is missing, it most likely means the phone is fake, please note that a phone might have several different models with slightly different specs so to be sure, know the exact model you are buying. For example Samsung A3 might be available in two different models, one may be using a Snapdragon Processor and have 3 GB RAM and the other model might be using an Exynos Processor with 4 GB RAM so ask the seller to be sure.
4) Go with a SIM card which has internet subscription on it so that you can test the phone’s internet connectivity and ability to download, update and run apps. Some fake phones have problems connecting to the internet especially with the Airtel network, so I advise that you use the Airtel network to test all apps and try downloading some apps from the Google Play Store.
5) You can also check if a phone is fake by checking its IMEI number on IMEI checking websites. If the phone is original, a search of its IMEI number should return the Phone’s model and year of manufacture. I’m not sure if this is applicable to all phone brands though, I know for sure that it is applicable to big brands such as TECNO, Samsung, Sony etc.
6) For phones which have special features such as Smart Assistants like Siri, S-Voice, Gestures such as Air Gesture, Air View, etc. Make sure you test every special feature the original phone should have and ensure the features are working properly before you buy the phone. For new phones, also check and test all accessories and make sure that they are complete and working well.
Never be in a hurry to but a phone, always make comparisons. With these tips, no one should fall victim of these evil fake phone manufacturers and sellers. Good luck in your next phone purchase.
Source: https://www.naijatechhub.com/2017/03/know-fake-phone.html As a Computer and Phone engineer. I can give u 20 signs to look out for in addition to the above writeup. 1. Check the phone memory. Some phone will have 16 g ram, whereas only 7g out of 16 would be accessible. 2. The location of the Charging port... Fake phones at times usually have their charging portport wrongly located when u compare it to original phones... This is common especially among Infinix,Techno UK used phones. 3. Weight of the phone: Fake phones usually are light-weighted in comparison to original phones. This is very common especially among SAMSUNG. When u see a copy of Samsung phone,is very light in weight. But an original Samsung has a considerable weight and a unique design. 4. Number of Sim Port... Original UK Spec SAMSUNG,MOTOROLA and other high-end phones comes with only one Sim port.. If u see any with two simports, run for ur life. 5. The Country where the phone was manufactured. Due to the fact that Standard Organization of Nigerian(SON) & SERVICOM are not doing their jobs in regulating fake products coming into the country, majority of substandard products are being dumped on daily basis in Nigeria. And the masses are the one bearing the pain. Phone made in or made for people in Korea,Germany,US,UK,Ireland are of highest quality compare to the ones designed to be shipped to West Africa... I no wan talk much on this, but tech savvy people knew what I'm driving at. 6. Price of the Gadget: Phones/Laptop assembled in Germany,Korea,UK and other developed countries are very expensive and they are beyond the reach of an average Nigerians... They can stand the test of time, highly efficient and durable. But here in 9ja we like cheap and attractive gadgets, even if its not going to last..... The list is endless.... But my philosophy is this, buy correct product even if its going to cost you a fortune. Thanks for having me... ProfGday |

Pls forgive my typographical errors.
Have been following nairaland since 2012 but fully registered 2015, I know some of you would have gone through what am going through now and each of your advises would be duly observed.
We are 3 in our family me my dad, and my elder brother who is also a graduate.
it all started wen I lost my mom to cancer 2016. she was a school teacher in one of the government school in abuja.
After her death we started following up her gratuity from Gov, God willing and thank God we were paid.
We decided to invest the money in schooling, which we decided to build a primary school in PH
I'm from Owerri but I have uncles from rivers state so we had the feelings that river state is a better option for the investement.
At least we have relatives there to show a good place to set up the school.
We went to our uncle's house who happens to be a Lawyer and narrated everything to him concerning a good land to Start up a school.
He told us he had a land for sell, we were happy because we felt he can't scam us.
We went through normal procedures concerning the land he wanted selling to Us.
Sorry not to have mentioned, my uncle came from a very respected and rich family so we handled everything with full assurance.
He then told us that 2 barristers (based in PH) are also involved in the land deal. That they own the land.
Since they were barristers, we consented.
So we paid 5million for two plots.
Though, the area wasn't that developed but they where few houses there, so starting up school there might be profitable
We started building fence and other important things that is ought to be done, in fact, all what we spent would sum up to 1.2million.
In the course of building, someone we don't know came and chase us out of the land, Saying the land belongs to him.
During this period, my dad tried to reach out to my uncle and the other 2 barristers to come and explain things to him but they were no where to be found.
He spent 2 weeks in PH without any sign from them nor results.
This is a year and three months we paid for that land and we haven't step into that land and no straight answers had been given to us.
We trusted him.
What annoys me the most is that he now pick our calls only when he feels like and no straight answer would still be given..
We have been avoiding taking the case to court because we fear it would last longer in court.
He told us to take him anywhere we like, that he will defend himself.
We don't need the land again, we want our money back cause what we have experienced so far is not what we bargained for.
I'm thinking of going to Brekete family (Human Right Radio) in Abuja to seek for solution
Note: My uncle is now based in Abuja but those two lawyers are based in PH.
Please my fellow nairalanders your advise are needed and any comment given would be very much appreciated, cause this totally look like we have been scammed.
Pls front page Mic check! Mic check! OK...Clear throat. The uncle that scammed you is not your uncle,he's a demon from the bottomless pit sent to throw you into forest of advanced poverty.... Read my submission again and again. God bless u son. |

drlance: She kept lying about this guy who happened to be a medical doctor, I am unemployed but sell phone accessories and do mini importation on the side but doing my Masters.
It happened that one time she told me she was to travel to Asaba to meet her family members, on hearing this I was happy and looked forward to talking to them.
After spending the night at my place I put her in a bus to Asaba, she didn't pick my calls till the next day.
The next day she posted an outing pic of herself in an eatery I didn't see it as anything but it's the next one that broke me.
A guy took a picture of her with her phone while backing a glass door so I could take that he wore a blue shirt I called that day and when I asked playfully to talk to the family members she asked me "what kind of talk is that ?"
Not long from then I got tagged in a picture on her wall on Facebook, low and behold it was a selfie of her and the Medical doctor in blue shirt and the caption "I love you forever, my personal person" someone she said I shouldn't worry about but he is asking her out, that she knew months before meeting me. She was supposed to be away for 2 days and ended up coming back after a week.
On seeing this I called to demand for an explanation if they were related, she sighed cut the phone on me and didn't pick my calls ever again.
She left me for a Medical Doctor!!
One month later now she calls me out of the blue to ask for 2k to buy foodstuffs. Which I gave without saying a word.
Fast forward to today I got a job with the government and relocated to Abuja.
She called me later shedding crocodile tears and begging for me back.
People of Nairaland, what would you have me do? What will you do if you were in my shoes? It's not my fault she didn't see the bigger picture.
She isn't the first woman that has left me for a better person. Op,don't ever made that kind of mistake again.... And also stop rendering any help to her,she would be alright ... Go on with your life, loyalty is a bedrock of good marriage .. And what kind of love can make a bachelor to marry a single mother? Wise up bro, don't let your village people set you up for pardition. |

Nounitesportal: Abike Dabiri Plans to Donate N100,000 to NOUN's Final Year Student
It is no longer news that some students find it difficult to pay their school fees with some of them relying on menial jobs in order to raise enough money to pay their fees while others rely on friends and family members.
However, some politicians have been identified for their constant support for jobless youths. Some take to social media to give out cash gifts so they can start up a business while others organize empowerment programs where they train people on how to fend for themselves.
Some of the things done at this training include soap making, hairdressing, fashion designing, makeup tutorials, carpentry and much more. At the end of this training, some of the best students get business startup materials and cash gifts
Renowned journalist, philanthropist and senior special adviser (SSA) to the president on foreign relations and diaspora, Abike Dabiri, has taken to Twitter to show love to a final student who cannot pay his school fees.
The student who is identified as Seun Sofoluwe Samuel is a final year student of the National Open University (NOUN). He took to his Twitter handle to ask good willing Nigerians to please help him raise money for his fees.
His post reads: “Please support me, I'm crowdsourcing for funds of 100k to pay and scale through my Final Year at NOUN. 500, 1k, 2k, 5k. Any amount will be of great help. Account/Bank name: Guarantee Trust Bank, Seun Sofoluwe, (0007885249).”
Samuel’s post got the attention of Abike Dabiri which made her promise to help him out. Her reply reads: “Your plea is touching. Don’t normally do this on Twitter but will reach you. Best wishes.”
