PoliticsMuslims Cannot Be Subjected To Christian Common Law by profilemessages(op): 6:25am On Dec 27, 2019
*Muslims cannot be subjected to Christain common law-Prof Isiaq Akintola*
The founder of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Prof Ishaq Akintola, says the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, is right on his call for constitutional amendment to accommodate some peculiarities of Sharia law “which have been ignored for so long”.
In this piece, Akintola expresses support for Muhammad, saying the current Constitution is a child of British colonial Christianisation of the country which had failed to take into consideration the multi-religious nature of the Nigerian nation.
Excerpts:
The CJN has our full backing on this. The British colonial government bequeathed a legacy of Christianisation to the Nigerian nation.
Muslims were not comfortable with it but the British did not listen. The British did not give a damn.
Northern Muslims resisted and the British invaded the North.
Muslim resistance was brutally broken by the ruthless massacre of thousands of Muslim freedom fighters in Hausaland, particularly in Burmi (1903), Satiru (1906) and Zinder (1917).
Even those who surrounded were not spared as they were mowed down with machine guns. Thereafter, the British victors curtailed Islamic landmarks.
Islam had arrived in Karnem Borno in the year 1085 (818 years before the invasion of the North by the British) during the reign of King Humi Jilmi while Christianity was first preached in 1842 (757 years after the advent of Islam) under the Agacia tree in Badagry.
As far as we are concerned, therefore, the British who brought Christianity to Nigeria spread their religion by force after invading the North, after intimidating the South West and after subduing the Muslims who had been practicing their faith for more than 800 years.
They used excessive force against Muslims and carried out barbaric and extra-judicial killings.
The bombardment of Lagos in 1851 by Commodore Captain R. W. Bruce during the ‘Boiling Battle’ (Ogun Ahoyaya) and the subsequent surrender of the city was the first operation ‘shock and awe’ designed to cow southerners.
It was equally intended to send a strong message to the North. The booming of cannon shells and other bombs was hitherto unknown to the city.
Lagos quickly put its tail between its legs like a frightened dog and other cities in the South-West took the cue.
It was a fait accompli.
The Muslim population cautioned its membership against courting the ire of the colonial masters.
This surrender paved the way for the creation of the Lagos Colony ten years later (1861).
From then onwards, the city of Lagos which, by 1775 had more than fifty Islamic schools, opened the floodgate to the intimidation and coercion of Muslim children in colonial schools.
This persecution has lasted to date.
Ruthless conversion
We have gone down the lanes of history because today was born from the wombs of yesterday. Muslims in Yorubaland put up no armed resistance to colonial invasion and forceful conversion whereas northern Muslims died in their thousands resisting colonial invasion.
This resulted in the bold and ruthless conversion of Muslims to Christianity in the South-West whereas the colonialists exercised caution in their dealing with Northern Muslims.
This situation also informed British adoption of indirect rule in the North. Nobody should ask us to forget the history of Nigerian Muslims.
Brutalisation of Muslims by the British marauders is part of our history just as the forceful abandonment of Islamic landmarks as ordered by the British Christian evangelists.
It was after the British had killed all Muslims who resisted their occupation of northern Nigeria and after they had imposed restrictions on the Shariah that they established a Christian-oriented administration.
Western education through which thousands of Muslims were forcefully converted was also introduced to replace Islamic education which was already popular before the arrival of the British.
This was the situation until Nigeria obtained independence in 1960 and Muslims continued to bear the brunt of subjection to a Christian-oriented system. Unfortunately successive regimes in post-independence Nigeria have failed to review the system after the exit of the British in spite of repeated demands.
As a result of this, the Muslims remain unintegrated, unaccommodated and displeased.
Without attempting to justify violent uprisings, it is our contention that this lop-sidedness is partly responsible for the interreligious clashes which Nigeria has experienced to date, including, of course, Boko Haram insurgency.
The system we run in this country is not only alien to Muslim culture, it has also marginalised the Muslim population.
Our democracy is deceptive in as much as Muslims who form the largest segment of the population are not integrated into the system.
Participatory democracy is the global best practice. But not in Nigeria.
Nigeria’s democracy excludes Muslims. Our weekends shut Muslims out.
It is the entire monopoly of Christians.
Saturday and Sunday are free but Friday is not.
The Muslim girl-child goes to school with tears in her eyes because she must not enter the school with hijab on her head.
There is no single Sharia Appeal Court in the entire South-West and Muslims in that sub-region are subjected to Christian common law in all civil matters. Muslim marriages conducted inside mosques are not recognised but those held in churches are sacrosanct. This democracy is fraudulent.
Monopoly
Christian women enjoy the monopoly of recruitment into the army, navy, police, civil defense, traffic wardens, immigration, customs, etc but Muslim women cannot because those uniformed agencies will not recruit users of hijab.
Yet Muslim police women and soldiers use hijab in Britain, United States, Ireland, etc.
Female Muslim graduates therefore remain jobless and impoverished while their Christian counterparts smile to the banks.
Yet it was not so ab initio. It was the British Christian colonialists who changed the system to favour Christians only.
This is not good enough and we need to sit down like neighbours to renegotiate our nationhood. It is always better to jaw-jaw than to war-war.
If we all condemn the Boko Haram style, what alternative have we put forward?
MURIC therefore embraces the CJN’s idea of the need for constitutional amendment.
It is even belated.
It is part of restructuring. We hope the restructuring camp will welcome the CJN’s idea because it is not going to be about Muslim demands alone but a comprehensive one.
We call for objectivity in this matter.
Those who always oppose anything which is likely to benefit Muslims are urged to consider this initiative with an open mind.
Constitutional amendment has all the potentials to usher in peace and tranquillity if we approach it with sincerity.

RomanceWhat Will You Do? by profilemessages(op): 7:50am On Dec 26, 2019
What will you do?
If it were you what will you do?
Note this one is not them say them say.
It happened to me this year, so your matured advice is needed and no insults please.

I travelled to Town X "name withheld for security reasons". Inside my compound there were ten rooms there but there was only one bathroom and toilet inside.
The bathroom was joined together with the toilet so if you want to urinate and someone is passing excreta, you will have to wait till he or she finishes his or her stool.
Also the toilet had no window nor door. If you are inside someone can enter without you knowing.
There was a married woman beside my room. Though looking at her age she might still be below 30, let's say 26 or 27 sha!
She was already pregnant, her belle has started protruding bit by bit. Let's say five or six months.
One day I wanted to excrete, I was pressed to the point. I did not know that this woman was bathing inside the bathroom incorporated toilet.
As I entered lo and behold I saw her bathing with soap sud all over her. I couldn't say anything because I didn't speak her language and she didn't speak English.
Days after she started bad mouthing me to everyone in the compound that I was looking at her unclothedness in the bathroom.
Though no one was able to challenge me but I knew that I was sitting on a time bomb.
So without telling anyone I left the house and went to rent another room in another area.
I told my friend and some people I trust the truth about the matter.
But the issue now is that up till now, the woman or lady is still bad mouthing me to everyone.
This is after like three months that I have left their compound oooooh!

Guys this one is a real inside life.
A lot of things are happening inside life. I just have only one question for you. If it were you what will you do?
Note I am now living in another street far from there ooooh! But fear women! They can go to any length!!!!

What will you do?

PoliticsCAN, USA Ganging Up In Iniquity by profilemessages(op): 10:08am On Dec 25, 2019
PRESS RELEASE:
*CAN, US, GANGING UP IN INIQUITY*
The United States (US) has accused the Nigerian government of restraining religious freedom. On its own part, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has also supported this allegation. CAN claimed that Christians were becoming endangered species in their fatherland. The umbrella Christian organization also claimed lopsidedness in appointments under the Buhari administration.
However, a press statement issued by the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has debunked the above allegations. The human rights organization faulted US democratic status and described its role in global matters as the height of double standard. The group also accused CAN of shedding crocodile tears. MURIC’s statement was signed by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.
According to MURIC, “We see the mention of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) by the US as a smokescreen. IMN is not being denied freedom of worship. It is the excesses of the group that is being curtailed. Nobody stops them from worshipping but the government has a duty to protect the rest of Nigerians from actions of the group which undermine Allah-given fundamental rights of other citizens.
“We are not bothered by the US latest ranking of Nigeria as religiously biased. Has the US ever seen anything good about our country? Some foreign powers are always eager to discredit developing nations. It is a game mastered by imperialists. We can see the signs. Instead of breaking up in 2015 as predicted, Nigeria is waxing strong. The war against corruption is on course. Infrastructure is growing at a fast rate. Therefore, a spanner must be thrown at the works to justify forceful intervention and a grip on Nigerian oil.
“America should do some introspection. Those who claim to be the champion of democracy in the world cannot, in good conscience, beat their chests and say, ‘We have been fair to all’. America complains to Nigeria that Christians are being killed even when it is well known that Muslims are the greatest victims of the killings. America invited former CAN president to address Congress a few years ago. But no Muslim leader has ever been invited to the same platform. Yet America has been using the lies told before Congress to judge our country. Is this fair?
“Muslims of Southern Nigeria have been complaining of persecution for decades but America turned its deaf ears. America pretends nothing is happening to Nigerian Muslims even when the Muslim girl child is locked out of school over an ordinary head scarf which is even allowed in US schools.
“US human rights record outside Nigeria is even nothing to write home about particularly regarding its attitude to issues affecting Muslim nations and Muslims in general. Sanctions are used selectively against Muslim nations in order to weaken them militarily and economically. Israel is free to kill and maim Palestinian children while America uses vetoes to frustrate resolutions of the United Nations aganinst Israel. In fact, democracy is a sham if assessed against the backdrop of happenings in the UN where America alone can stop any decision made by the rest of the world. The US invaded Iraq without approval from the UN. So what moral right has America to judge other nations?
“If America is truly the world’s champion of democracy and the chief promoter of human rights, why is that country always silent each time Muslims are at the receiving end? More than 8,000 Muslims were massacred in the Bosnia genocide, particularly in Srebrenica and Zepa in 1995. What did America say? What did America do when Muslims were being killed in their hundreds in Myammar? Even right now hundreds of thousands of Uyghur Muslims are being detained in Western Xinjiang, China, but America cannot be bothered. Since last week, Muslim demonstrators are being killed over anti-Muslim Indian citizenry laws but the White House is only interested in bullying Nigeria.
“Our message to CAN is this, allow America to set fire to your country and we can assure you that it is not the Muslims alone who will face turmoil. Our people say that when a hen perches on a rope, neither the hen nor the rope will enjoy stability. Whether to avoid foreign interference in your country and live in peace with your Muslim neighbours while you watch your children and grandchildren play peacefully in the garden or to open the doors wide for an army of occupation which will bring general pandemonium, the choice is yours.
“CAN should remember that religion or no religion, America’s national interest is America’s priority. America has no permanent friends. Neither should anyone blame Americans for loving their own country. The blame goes to those who open the doors of their country for foreign forces to support them in eliminating or, at least, in undermining their perceived rivals or oppressors.
“CAN has only manifested its naivety in modern international politics. The US has thrown religious persecution as a bait. Unfortunately CAN has swallowed it, hook, line and sinker. It is not the first time that America will fly a kite. What was America’s excuse for invading Iraq? Was it not weapons of mass destruction (WMD)? Was any WMD found at the end of the day? Did America apologise? Iraq’s infrastructure paid for it. It was completely demolished. But above all, Iraq’s oil paid for it and that was the real target ab initio.
“The same America is now talking of religious bias in order to create tension. If nothing like religious bias is found after Nigerians have killed themselves in their thousands, America will never apologise and we will be the suckers for it. CAN is free to bring in America. Afterall, if the heavens will fall, we are all under it. But history will remember our warning to CAN.
“CAN is simply playing to type. This is a group that does the hurting, yet it is always the first to scream. CAN aptly personifies the parable of the mischievous housewife who beats up the husband but screams for help. The only time neighbours bothered to check, they found the husband trembling in a corner, with the wife beating him with a huge stick.
“How can CAN start complaining now? All the Chiefs of Army Staff under Obasanjo were Christians from 1999 to 2007 (Victor Malu, Alexander Ogumudia, Martin Luther Agwai, Andrew Azazi and Paul Dike). Four out of the five chiefs of defence staff were also Christians while all the chiefs of naval staff were Christians and the Muslims did not complain. CAN did not talk at the time. How come CAN suddenly found its voice?
“Under President Goodluck Jonathan, Christians took all the sensitive security positions. The Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Naval Staff were all Christians until January 2014 when a Muslim took over as Chief of Naval Staff. Not only that, the Director Generals of the State Security Services and the Nigerian Intelligence Agency were Christians. The Secretary to the Federal Government was a Christian. The Senate president and his deputy were both Christians under Jonathan but CAN had the temerity to demand that a Christian must head Senate under Buhari.
“CAN accuses President Muhammadu Buhari of appointing Muslims only whereas President Buhari shares the four sensitive military leadership positions among Christians and Muslims. We must expose CAN for deceiving the global community and for inciting its followers in the country. Check the records. These are verifiable facts. The Chief of Defence Staff is General Gabriel Abayomi Olonisakin and he has been appointed since 13th July, 2015. He is still in that position. Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe is the Chief of Naval Staff. He was appointed by the same Buhari since 13th July, 2015. Only the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Air Staff are Muslims. That is 50 – 50. CAN is definitely lying. But the wind has blown. We have seen the ruff of the hen.
“You will know the truth and the truth will set you free (John 8:32).We appeal to discerning Christians not to allow CAN to set them against their own brothers. CAN is fully back as an unrepentant advocatus diaboli after a short interregnum. Only the truth can set you free.
“We charge compatriots to verify claims being made by either the US or CAN. We invite all Nigerians to manifest the well known African hospitality to every American or Western citizen as those individuals do not represent their countries’ tortuous diplomacy. We call on Muslims to continue to exhibit love and care for their Christian compatriots. We warn against CAN’s connivance with Western powers. It can only be a gang-up in iniquity.”

one thing the north needs to know by now is that "its not just numbers anymore" , they shouldn't think that because they are plenty that they will continue to rule for ever, even if you are not plenty, get sense, pmb contested four times before he eventually won,

obj thought them(north) a bitter lesson after yaradua died and gej took over. they shouldn't think that Nigerian leadership is their birth right, no Nigeria belongs to us all.

I just laugh at those saying that tinubu should not contest , or those saying that even if he contests he cannot win, they don't know anything, I am not saying that he will win ooo, but Nigerian politics is becoming sophisticated like the hairs on the devils head everyday. No one knows what will happen!!!
