One very smart cookie once said on this forum that people often mistake arrogance for confidence, you should know most of these men are overcompensating with bravado and they normally don't feel how they want others to perceive them. They need the validation.

I don't really buy into the whole PMSing thing (even as a woman who experiences the monthly discomfort) but it does make sense that the body changes, your experience coinciding with the pain will put you in a depressive and negative mood. It's normal to feel bad about yourself (esp if like me you get all sorts of spots randomly) but you should reassure yourself that it's only temporary and when the time is over all those feelings will be gone.

You can counteract some of the horrific symptoms with pills & creams and when you feel the time coming, beautify yourself. Do your nails, your hair, eyebrows before the time. Buy a nice outfit, some sexy lingerie, a nice pair of shoes a handbags. Things that make you feel good, wear make up, adorn yourself with hot accessories and go out with friends. Sometimes when our girlfriends compliment on our looks an style we feel better .

Confidence is really how you feel about yourself, take the time to understand and appreciate yourself, give yourself the benefit of the doubt, understand different situations cause different things and love the person you are. Make an effort to love yourself and everyone else will love you. and try to appreciate that everyone feels the way you mentioned once in a while, it makes us human

Not at all, that was an outline but the conclusion still holds. There is no automatic translation in disease there are only indicators, ones we can assign to causative epidemiology.

It does depend, if your partner minds. If not you do need to respect his/her privacy. A phone is a private thing and some appreciate having things to themselves.
That being said if you have nothing to hide you won't be bothered, but going through your partners phone knowing he/she has a problem with it is wrong and disrespectful. It shows you have no regards for his/her privacy, which he/she is definitely entitled to. Just because you are the partner doesn't mean you can have unrestricted access to his/her life. He is entitled to not want to privy you to certain things.

I guess EME was pressured as Banky W called Eche personally and told Eche to give his email address to people who haven't been refunded. Eche called me and gave me the address. I proceeded to emailing Banky W, who apologized several times and forwarded my email to the "appropriate people". He forwarded the email to them about mid-to-late August. Banky was actually going to send the money by mail with a CD as they were stalling, but I finally got my refund on the 2nd via Paypal.

If you want what's rightfully yours, then you have to demand it. This goes from getting back refunds to fighting for equality in justice. No handouts in life, sometimes, even if you're right.

This is a very ignorant comment please remove it, you cannot compare cancer to aids. You cannot transfer cancer between people and even after repeated exposure to cancer causing radiation the damage caused to ones vital organs will kill well before cancer does. If we are going to propagate conspiracy theories lets do so in a sensible manner. Cancer is actually known as the disease of the wealthy and is associated with lifestyles adopted by those that have money. There is no power or control over cancer, let that belief stop there.

The directive has been issued and I think the larger companies will follow it, but since most corpers are going to end up getting rejected from their postings I assume private companies will still have to get involved.
Do the corpers directly apply for the work or is there some 'non priority' list NYSC then use to find them alternative placements? Is it worthwhile for one to still make an effort for a placing in a private company in spite of this new directive?

ujchief: The new posting policy has its pros and cons.
The education sector is not restricted to secondary schools alone. In my state, corpers are posted to the 2 universities, polytechnic, college of education, research institute, nursing school etc.
Rural and infrastructure is undefined, and the rate of rejection is alarming.

Thank you for this you have actually hit the nail on the head, service wouldn't be a problem if not for this factor. NYSC advises that corpers will be posted to sectors relevant to their degrees (which makes alot of sense so the state can make sensible use of human resources)but if these sectors have been restricted, how is it going to work? I can imagine the country is in need of teachers but not that many, and like you said there is currently a high rate of rejection.

Actually it doesn't make any sense- they say the new directive was employed because there is apparent abuse of the programme and corpers are meant to be serving their state not receiving work experience, it doesn't make sense to say, under the same breath, that they will force companies to employ graduates full time? The supposed reasons for this new directive are completely contradictory.

The Lagos State co-ordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), Mr. Ladipo Laniyan, has said that the Federal Government’s decision to post corps members only to four sectors will ensure true service to the nation.

The sectors approved by President Goodluck Jonathan include: Rural Health, Primary and Secondary Education; Rural Infrastructural Development and Agricultural Development.

A circular released by the Ministry of Information revealed that the decision was taken to “discourage highly placed government officials and influential members of the society from seeking concessionary posting for prospective corps members specifically to metropolitan cities like Abuja and Lagos.”

Increasing number of corps members in the commercial capital
Prior to the new directive, corps members could be posted to any government or private organisation irrespective of the sector. Among other things, the opportunities that the nation’s commercial capital provides made it seem like an attractive starting point for school leavers rather than a tool to facilitate national integration and economic transformation.

“Before now, corps members wanted to go to banks, oil companies, and the likes,” said the Lagos NYSC boss.“But the government felt that going there is not really service to the nation. If they want to do actual service to the nation, those are the sectors where the government felt the services are needed.”

However, despite the implementation of the new policy, sources say that the new Batch A Corps members in Lagos alone are more than 5,000. Although NYSC did not confirm the figures, Laniyan said: “I can’t give a definite number now. The number we had on camp is nothing to go by, as a lot of people are still redeploying to Lagos.”

Structures to absorb work force in the four sectors
Since vacation from the orientation camp last Tuesday, some corps members have been rejected from their places of primary assignment. With the work force being concentrated in four sectors, the question as to whether structures have been put in place to adequately engage these corps members begs for an answer.

So far, the NYSC has not made any known efforts towards expanding structures in the sectors to assimilate the increased work force.

In response to this, the Lagos NYSC boss said: “The education sector alone can absorb all our corps members because there are so many schools. But the challenge is that even if all the schools can absorb them, the request by the government will be a limiting factor in the sense that in as much as they want corps members to be in those sectors, there are likely to be budget constraints in terms of resources to pay the corps members.”

Continuing on economic terms, Laniyan said that about 99 per cent of corps members serving in Lagos State already have accommodation within the metropolis. According to him: “These allowances being paid are in lieu of transportation and accommodation. And if we aren’t taking them far from their abode, then the issue of allowance does not come in.”

One Batch A corps member who did not want her name in print told Vanguard Learning: “The school I was posted to is very far from my house, and the proprietor has said that he is not paying us any allowance.”

Retaining policy of companies
The new policy is likely to affect some companies’ tradition of retaining corps members after their service year. In response to this, the Lagos state coordinator said: “The period of NYSC is not a period of internship.”

He also added that some companies who have in the past used the NYSC scheme as cheap labour, paying corps members stipends and refusing to employ them as permanent staff, will now be forced to employ graduates on a more permanent basis.
