FamilyRe: Mother Of 5 Gives Birth To Quadruplets In Ibadan, Husband Flees by queensmith: 7:48pm On Sep 01, 2012
Kobojunkie: What for? Because he is not allowed to bail on the woman when he wants to? undecided undecided undecided Why should the police look for him? Is his crime impregnating her? Please let us be sure that I am not holding brief for the looser of a man here.
Does that make any sense to you? Why should anybody bail on their responsibilities? Who is going to carry the costs? Or when the children grow up and become criminals and steal from YOUR children you don't realize you have paid for this mans mistakes?
No- everybody should live up to their responsibilities, I don't for one second think she should be left with the burden, of course I do believe women need to be more careful, but I can imagine the women that don't have sex with their husbands are given all sorts of stds and viruses when they start sleeping outside.

Kobojunkie: https://png-4.findicons.com/files/icons/1039/manto/128/laugh.png

We have heard this story hundreds/thousands of times before now. I do have to ask why people are not addressing the obvious problems. The man living now does not mean he would not have left if she had not had the quads now. I mean honestly, women need to start re-focusing their minds a bit more.
She already had five kids living in the same cramped apartment. Why think of having another when she has yet to solve the problem of their living in that cramped apartment?
I actually agree with you for the most part, it's my mentality, but sociologists often excuse this behavior by stating women in countries such as Nigerian are left with no choice and little empowerment. They are not given the option on whether or not they want to have children, have sex with their husbands, or even go out to work and get an education.
With that I understand where these women stand in not being able to dictate her life appropriately, as desperate as these women can be, if thne husband returns today she will still take him back, sleep with him and probably even get pregnant again. It's a very sad cycle but until there is enough focus to educate and enlighten women more on their rights and where they stand situations like these will continue to happen.
PoliticsRe: 300 Taxis To Replace 'Okadas' In Bayelsa State by queensmith: 7:31pm On Sep 01, 2012
Did the government compensate the okada riders? If not then they should all strike- how can you just ban peoples means of income. mshew. besides okadas are only at that extent because of the poor roads, people still need to get to their houses and transport in nigeria isnt efficient- this is the way any natural economy will work. The solutions often being more of a nuisance when the government doesnt create enough guidance.

They should have just tried to train and regulate the okadas a bit more.

maclatunji: Why do many men runaway when their wives have multiple births? A detailed research should be carried-out to find-out why and how such incidences can be reduced. It is not funny. Although, one can't help but laugh sometimes.
you are right- but i did laugh when i read the title. God forgive me sha.

The police should start finding the husband asap, nonsense man, when he was doing sebi he was enjoying it, oniranu

Issues faced by interracial couples(which happen more frequently now than ever) are now to be considered worse than inter-tribal relationships, and inter-religion marriages, which happen on a regular basis .. . . great . . . let's keep moving the bar . . . hope we get tired of this practice soon cause it ain't getting people nowhere. I just hope we don't start giving out annual awards to these couples soon . . . nothing is impossible when Nigerians are involved. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

MRbrownJAY: woah, Saga, you are still on this thread....i guess your technique is to have the last word, whether you make any sense or not (to your own self).
at least, this thread opened my eye on the subject of divorce settlement, as it seem many people think that your option actually makes any sense.....but then again, that certainly wont change my views ONE BIT on the matter. as for the rest (aka tennis champion and the west), oh well, you can always try again later.

as for being labelled a Layman's champion, i will take that as a compliment and bow out GRACEFULLY out of this thread.........and look forward to another 10+ pages discussion with you (or any of your boys GFs, lol)....... hasta luego!
I don't even know why you waste your time, for one the dude is full of shit, as deluded as anything and has absolutely no reasoning abilities in that hollow cavity he has for a skull. You waste your time indulging him in any sort of conversation. I know nairaland is lacking in sensible human beings but one needn't bother with that gorilla.

Long One: As usual, the UKBA have gone guns blazing on foreign students in a bid to curb immigration, without properly thinking about the consequences of their action.

What they should have done is to prevent new students coming in, and given the university a period to let current students pass through. This way, they would not have panicked students who are uncertain of the future, apart from the stress of living in a foreign land.

With the unnecessary chaos they have created, I honestly wonder what happened to the brains England had in those good old days. Now, it seems to be a bunch of disgruntled legislators, nit picking on foreign students and foreigners in general.
long one has spoken!
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by queensmith: 7:00pm On Aug 30, 2012
violent: Seriously?

Perhaps you have no idea. But one of the easiest way to get into an Ivy League is when your wealthy dad or grandad just happen to be an extremely important alumnus who at the same time is a big spender. I wouldn't think Qaddafi's son was really that smart and have passed all sorts of rigorous tests to get into LSE. A few million bucks donation skips all that!

You probably wouldn't find stupid people graduating from an Oxbridge and they probably remain some of the best Western Universities there is. That said, i remain suspicious of surveys that puts those Universities down as best in the world.

It is much easier for a University to pay lets say Financial Times a few bucks for a nice place in a survey ranking...than for FT to go through all the trouble and take on the cost to conduct an objective survey of all the Universities in the World. What's in it for FT?
I'll make 3 points to you-
1. you do not know what you are saying

2. you do not know what you are saying

and 3rd
you do not know what you are saying-

You said you wouldn't think? What you think is irrelevant, you probably think Qaddafi sent his son to Nigeria for school? Do you think he spent his secondary schools learning yoruba? Or what do you think they do at schools people pay 100s of 1000s of pounds to attend?
They train you specifically on getting into these schools and guess what, most of them don't. No matter how much money your father has or donated you wont get into Oxbridge if you don't meet their requirements. Simples, there is no way about it. Prince William himself when he has kids should not even dream of sending them there if they don't have all a*s at Gcse and 4As at Alevels. They are not going to pass up on real talent for anything.
Besides there's a reason why standards are soo high- the courses there are difficult, you are not going to pass the first year unless you are academically equipped. I do agree the surveys can be political, but Oxbridge are not to be compared to anything when it boils down to academic excellence. and no, there are no 'dumb kids' there, not to anybodies standards.
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by queensmith: 6:37pm On Aug 30, 2012
justwise: You may have more dumb people in Oxbridge than other poor ranked universities, politicians who graduated from those universities are dumbs.
Lol- I'm not even going to entertain this! I'll take it as comedy.
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by queensmith: 6:35pm On Aug 30, 2012
HiiiPower: Didn't David Cameron and William Hague graduate from Oxbridge?
It's easier to get into those Universities if you attended
certain schools. Kids of British aristocrats get into
Oxbridge easily, just as kids from poor backgrounds
get into South Bank with ease.

Arguing with kids is like barking at the wrong tree.

And when will people start differentiating between,
being book smart and intelligence?
This is a whole different argument, and that's where you should have made your point. Don't make ludicrous claims down to disliking a few politicians. They get into Oxbridge *easily* because they have maintained the standard of education and training that these universities require, a standard those who are poorer need to work harder to attain. Don't ever for one second try to think it's like Nigeria where the children of the rich get places because through any funny business. Recognise that even though that Upper classes are the main determinate of how we are educated, these universities still maintain a high degree of excellence (that is all round challenging) and every one of their students have to prove this. There is no loop hole.
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by queensmith: 3:57pm On Aug 30, 2012
I will agree university ranking is political but it is absolutely absurd to insinuate you will find anybody at Oxford one can consider 'dumb' that is a 'dumb' statement in itself. Oxbridge are possibly the only universities in the UK where the students are rigorously tested, interviewed, assessed, all sorts, there is no way to cheat, lie or scandal yourself through entry is purely based on academic merit. Even with the newly set up programmes to widen participation from poorer schools/backgrounds, oxbridge students/graduates remain top of the range. Damn even their lectures are not to be reckoned with! Please carry that nuisance statement up and out of here.

Thats an absolute ridiculous assertion.
Personally speaking, no matter what, I wouldn't recommend ex-polytechnics e.g. Westminster, Middlesex, LMU, MMU, Plymouth, West London, UWE, UWS, etc., as destinations for higher education in the UK. What Nigerians aspiring to study in the UK need to do is constantly check the league tables (and there are many of them e.g. http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/rankings; http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/table/2012/may/21/university-league-table-2013) to ascertain that the university they are intending to enrol at are highly ranked. In other words, Nigerians should do thorough research about studying abroad before taking the plunge!
Given the choice i'd agree but- studying at the metropolitan is still better than studying at the best university in Nigeria, I can imagine most studying there are doing viable courses that will lead them into suitable employment in the future. You will be better off studying a clinical life sciences degree at the London met than you will at Imperial College For example. All the universities have their levels of strength I can imagine the mets will lie in the level of investment, and the fact most of its degrees are accredited. Something a top 4 uni will not even bother about.
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by queensmith: 2:29pm On Aug 30, 2012
This is absolutely ridiculous, and what is to become of the poor students that have nothing to do with the universities poor administration? They have paid good money at the end of the day and it serves as a contract. So long as they haven't breached any terms they shouldn't be made to suffer.
I hope the same UKBA are working with additional agencies to ensure the students are rewarding with adequate compensation or offered places at equally good or even better schools. This is unacceptable nonsense.

ps i was quite surprised to read that out of 30000 only 2000 are foreign, one will believe foreigners make up to 50% of most schools the way they bang on about educational tourism! lol. Not that much of a revenue loss for the university then I guess.

Why would an innocent person who committed no crime be running away from the law for 2yrs? He was not charged for any offence but an allegation, Sweden and US does not have any extradition agreement, so why would Sweden extradict him to US?
My previous post still applies- no point going back and forth all your posts are the same.

justwise: Your points are all over the place, i can't make out exactly what you are going on about, you still have not answered my question...which is..if you claimed that the allegations were cooked up and that he has not broken any law in US why then has he being running away from the law for 2yrs?

He went to court to challenged the extradition order and failed as many time as he tried, now he ran to Ecuadorean embassy for an asylum, why would an 'innocent' person be taking such steps? Why is he afraid of going to Sweden to answer those allegations? He was not charged for anything.
Its easy for you to say given you arent actually making a point. It's not difficult to understand I don't know why you are having difficulties, and like I keep saying you are asking questions in circles.

I have answered your questions, if what I have said isn't factual it will be easy for you to dispel my 'claims' with facts. You can't, which is why you keep asking the same question over again.

Nobody is debating that he went to court or that he sought asylum? What point were you trying to make there?

justwise: I read the post i quoted very well....how do you know that the allegation were cooked up? Any evidence? If he hasn't broken any US law why then is he afraid that he will be extradited there? Why would Sweden send him to US if he is innocent?

Can you name those innocent people the US has being holding like criminals?
Thats not much of a debatable point, I doubt there is any evidence the claims weren't cooked up. Its going to be a matter of one word against another. If you read about the case he partied and slept with one of the accusers after the rape supposed 'rape' occurred,
And thats not the point, the UK may extradite Assange to Sweden, Sweden have no evidence Assange raped anybody? You don't need to have broken a law to be extradited it seems, you just need to be charged with an offense.
The US want to charge him with treason, I don't know why they think he has any business with allegiance to the United States,Assange has broken absolutely no US law and you just keep asking questions in circles.

Billyonaire: Sharing formula. Greed kills useful partnerships.
you were right, apparently for the guy it was all about money. While I understand and respect the fact that he deserves to be paid well, these things do take time. He should have taken more pride in the recognition, the travelling and the fame than 'spending big like Davido' who is probably into fraud as a part time career (abeg no bite mmy head off). Psquare have a right to set certain standards and these standards are probably the reason they are the biggest band in Africa and probably most recognized since Fela Kuti. Its such a shame his thirst for splashing wealth about the gaffe has destroyed this fruitful looking relationship.
The boy is bloody talented, I see him taking over the scene in no time! his music makes sense right blend of a fresh r&b artist with a cultural yoruba twist. He knows his music, and seems damn good at entertaining! His pages have been taken down and only lawd knows what is going to become of him now?

He should have stayed with them, I hope they make up but if not, he should take this as a lesson and become wiser.

FamilyRe: Is Playing Hard To Get Good Or Bad? by queensmith: 12:42pm On Aug 23, 2012
I don't buy into any of these principles- I see relationships soo differently. I will lose attraction for any man that seems a slave to pop psychology and since I am quite demanding in my relationships 'playing hard to get' is going to mean sacrificing most of my demands all in the name of game play.

People get married for all sorts of reasons, I'm not sure 20% of even the nigerian women 'bag' their own husbands by playing hard to get. and yes a man can probably be traditional enough to believe a woman is only worthwhile when she plays mind games with him, but this statement itself highlights such a man is a slowpoke and not worth my time.
