John 10:30, 38 30 I and my Father are one. (the Jews tried to stone him for calling himself God) 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. John 1:1-3 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 14:10-11 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. @op are these enough? |
aManFromMars: Of course, that verse doesn't say it is right to steal when you're hungry. Most Africans pardoned those who were caught stealing food, if it was ascertained they did so because they were hungry. There's a tribe in Zambia where the royal family even gives the thief a cow.I am saying, somebody else may read that verse and say "hmmm... So I can steal if I am hungry eh?" E go cum go inside market go thief, wen dem catch am e go say na bible send am... I am saying from the way you correctly contextually interpreted that verse, it is now obvious you were deliberately quoting luke 10:19 out of context to look for trouble you alien douchebag. ![]() |
aManFromMars:You cannot just read and interprete just one verse of the scripture on its own. The preceding and subsequent verses put it in the right context. For example; Proverbs 6:30 30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; Is the bible saying it is alright to steal when you are hungry? You'll have to read the rest to find out ![]() |
aManFromMars: What does it mean to tempt God? How can one tempt God?If for example, I deliberately go and stand in the middle of an expressway... aManFromMars: Jesus was probably afraid he would break his bones and die if he jumped off the temple. God never saved any one from anything.Yet, the same Jesus walked on water, healed the lame/cripple and raised the dead... So what's your point? aManFromMars: Yet, luke 10:19 readsBullshit. Lemme quote that verse of the scripture correctly Luke 10:17-20 17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. Pay attention to the bolded text. Jesus was referring to Satan and his demons, not literal serpents/scorpions. Christians exercise that authority over Satan and his minions whenever we want. BTW, there are already snake charmers and scorpion charmers who handle snakes and scorpions anyhow they like. It's only a neat parlour trick anybody can learn. They are willing to teach you even(for a price of course ). You don't need "power" to do that. ![]() |
Miracles are not for showboating. Didn't the pastor ever read the book of mathew or luke where Satan tempted Jesus by trying to get him to showboat? Mathew 4:5-7 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God pastor. God does miracles for a reason or a purpose sir. |
rationalmind: You are truly the liar.May the Lord forgive you. Covering your lie with even bigger lies. @logicboy03 asked where did the ultimate creator come from and I replied that nobody can know, or similarly where did the ball of matter come from, nobody can tell either. You were on that thread, and saw all that. Go ahead, lie all you want, to suit your needs. |
rationalmind: Chai, so christians lie too. Here's your answer below... Logicboy03: I give up!Link below www.nairaland.com/1488613/questions-atheists/1 Who's the liar now? |
rationalmind: Talk to a christian about the bible and the response is, ooh, you do not understand the bible.Talk to an atheist about scientific knowledge and the response is, ooh, you don't understand science, you're talking pseudo-science, fallacy, blibbity blabbity bla bla Where do you guys get these automated responses from ![]() We get ours from the same vendor ![]() |
^^^^ 2 peter 3:3-4, 9 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance |
@rudedough At the beginning of this thread I had thought that you were just some guy with honest questions about God and the bible. Now it's obvious that you are just some blind crusader on a rampage trying to make God look bad, in other to excuse your atheist beliefs. You claim to have read the bible over and over again, better than all christians, but all we can see are series and series of erroneous conclusions. Lemme make this fine distinction for you: There is a difference between reading - and reading with understanding. Carry on your roll... God bless @seemylife @goshen360 @shdemidemi and others. *unfollows thread* |
rationalmind: That was to soften things a bit to prevent the post from getting hidden whilst also preventing a ban.Now you are going to get banned. MYYYYYYYYYYYYNNNND!!! rationalmind: Why did it take so long? Why not immediately adam and eve ate the fruitSatan had made some serious allegations against God in the garden of eden. God had to let sufficient time pass, for man to realise that what Satan suggested was not the greatest of ideas. Man had to find out the hard way that the way of sin was not better as Satan had painted it, before God could introduce the plan of reconciliation through jesus Christ. rationalmind: If dishing out immediate punishment was that good, why was it ditched?. If postponing the day of punishment was better, why wasn't it used initially?lolIt was not "ditched", it was only put on hold so the gospel of Jesus Christ could be preached to the world I mean, won't it be funny if God introduces a platform for forgiveness/reconciliation, and then before you even hear about it, God punishes you and destroys you for sinning and refusing to repent, when you don't even know the new accepted way of repentance? rationalmind: I'd rather proudly and gladly walk into hell than believe in nonsenseFor your last meal, you are going to eat. those. words. Here's to hoping you repent before then. |
rationalmind: The argument of drum about the dispensation of grace falls flat as it makes God appear like a dunce which I believe he isn't if at all he exists.Glad to see you still have some basic respect for God. rationalmind: If the period where grace was absent was that good, and Gods method of dishing out outright punishment was awesome, why the need for the period of grace? He could had continued with the carrot and stick approach. The period of grace/church age was introduced for the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to be preached to the entire human world. The basics are still the same - if you sin and repent, you get forgiveness. If you refuse to repent, you earn punishment. Only this time, the punishment is slated for the time when the gospel has been preached to every creature and Jesus returns to remove the righteous out of the way, before God releases his wrath. The delay is the "grace" you are given to repent. Please do not let yours expire O! |
majour: please can someone answer this question for meTheir is no real, logical way to answer this question. The only way a person can answer that is if: A. The person was there with God before he created heaven and earth. B. If God tells us that himself. A is impossible And God didn't bother with B, probably because IMHO - it's irrelevant Here's an idea Repent, stay righteous and get to heaven, then you can ask God. Personally. ![]() Stay blessed |
I think @rudedough misses something when reading some of those verses. God was issuing warnings there, and thus used some very strong language. I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be DRUNK ON THEIR OWN BLOOD, as with wine... - Isaiah 49:26 God is not saying I will literally force your oppressors to cut off their own/neighbors flesh to eat. He is saying" I will destroy your oppressors" using a hyperbole or exaggerated speech. |
^^^^ PS. All the questions carry a note of fallacy. ![]() |
Acts 20:7 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. Sunday worship began with the early church. If you say Paul and the disciples were worshiping the sun god... No p. Jesus Christ resurrected on the first day of the week, that means the "new testament" or "new covenant" which you and I are under was sealed on the first day of the week. Christians choose to worship on a sunday to commemorate this fact. Constantine, the pope, catholic church, sun god etc. have gat naffin 2 do wit dat. If you say you want to keep to the sabbath day worship, then do it right... 1. Go to the temple in jerusalem 2. Get the high priest of the temple to slaughter a lamb on the alter and sprinkle it's blood on you for your sins... Or you can just accept that Jesus Christ has payed the price, set up a new and better covenant between man and God, and that we can now gather together to God anytime we want through Jesus Christ the way, the truth and the life. Thank God the bible says; Where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am in their mist |
rationalmind: GoodSMH at you @rationalmind. Why are you not preaching to @zikdik about the fallacy petitio principii or fallacy of assumption/begging the question? Most of all his questions begin with baseless assumptions of the very thing they are trying to prove. If the same thing is done by a deist now, you go begin talk up and down. ![]() zikdik: Why does the evidence fromPlease show us first how all "the evidence from so many scientific disciplines, astronomy, geology, biology, physics, chemistry, all converge to suggest the Big Bang and Evolution, while at the same time pointing away from your theory" |
Spotless180: 6. What is the four beast in Daniel chapter seven all about? The four beasts symbolize four world empires; the babylonian, medo-persian, greek, and roman. That one is a very very loooooooong explanation. I'll suggest you purchase some christian literature on it. Buy a bible with commentary and concordance. Remain blessed. |
Spotless180: 5. Why did Daniel interprete the handwriting on the wall which is MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN as MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PERES. Daniel 5:25-28.UPHARSIN or PHARSIN is the plural of PERES meaning division. Thy kingdom is spilt up and divided to Medes and Persians. |
Spotless180: 4. Who was the fourth man in the burning fiery furnance? Was it Jesus or angel Gabriel, michael or who? Daniel 3:25.Nebu actually acknowledged the being was an angel in v28 Daniel 3:28 28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. Whether it was angel gabriel, micheal, or angel lucifer(rtd. ) is irrelevant. |
Spotless180: 3. Where was Daniel during the golden image episode-Daniel 3.The bible did not record. Any answer you get will just be vague speculation, which is essentially valueless. |
I'm ready. Help us tell them OOO!!! |
Spotless180: 2. Why did Daniel accepted the worship of king Nebuchadnezzar to him? Daniel 2:46.Daniel 2:46-47 46 Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. 47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret. From verse 47, we can see that king Nebu actually intended to worship Daniel's God, not Daniel. However, being used to bowing down to physical images representing unseen gods, he erroneously tried to use Daniel as a physical representation of his God. There is no indication that Daniel accepted this worship. He probably didn't rebuke the king directly, because he was king, while Daniel was just a captive subject. All glory was still given to God anyway. |
Spotless180: 1. Why did Daniel rejected the king's food-Daniel 1:8. Was the food sacrificed to idols or what?Daniel 1:8 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. The verse says "defile". Some particular kinds of food and meat were deemed as unclean under mosaic law. Eating of which "defiles" a man. Leviticus 11 lists them all. Daniel chose not to eat them, even while in babylon.[/quote] |
PAGAN 9JA:I no still understand O ![]() Is sango a living personality? Or just pure electrical energy? That is, another way of saying "current" or "voltage"? Science says that lightning is caused by potential difference between a negatively charged atmosphere and a positively charged earth. If sango causes lightning, is he/it what is referred to as "potential difference"? Human beings can induce lighting on their own, this experiment has been performed thousands of times in various laboratories. If I set up 2 electrodes apart at a distance, and charge them up to high enough voltages, the insulation of the air between them will breakdown and "lighning" and "thunder" will occur. How does that correlate to the whole sango/thor/amadioha thing? |
frank3.16:Revelation 12:9 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. The devil is often referred to as "the serpent" in the bible. In just one chapter(rev 12), he is called the serpent three times. Another name often used interchangeably is "the dragon". |
SELENAqueensy: Wen last did u treat malaria?....Not funny. ![]() |
ezeagu: Oh, I thought otherwise of your intensions. Anyway, this thread has gone to shit now because of the Righteous Christians of Nigeria™, so maybe another thread.Apologies @ezeagu and @pagan9ja, you guys seem like nice people. I'll stay on course. Some other pagan made this confusing claim that sango is electrical energy or something like that? Can somebody please discuss that? PS @ezeagu your name translates to "lion king" right? Are you simba ? No insult intended. |
OlaoChi: And then you conclude that Israel's God is superior to Nigerian Gods?Well, you gotta admit, it's pretty ominous the way them missionaries came, declared them powerless - and went ahead to back up their claims by destroying their shrines and alters... If amadioha had roasted the first missionary who came near his shrine with fire, do you think our forefathers will have turned to worship God? |
ROTFL Abeg, which version of the bible wey @op dey use? Kings Joke Version? Wia I fit buy am? ![]() |
