Keeppushing: Chai!! RealityShot, please can I get in touch personally?
Is it safe to say that going by the above calculation, N9,250 will be the earning for 50k? Safe YES... 25 * 365 = 9125 total interest on N50k/yr But that will only happen IF the rate stays at 18.5 through out the year.. (it can go down some days or months OR go up) Another thing is that the interest is compounded daily then paid out or reinvested every 3months .. so you can get (9125 / 4 = N2 281.25) four times and its starts earing interes too! Am still yet to find time to sit down and calculate the compound interest outcome properly though.. Please any more questions on mutual funds should be posted on its appropriate thread below. I think so. You dont sound like a player at all.. so better not marry a girl that her parents say no, your parents say NO and SHE IS USING GUILT TO FORCE YOU TO MARRY HER! MARRIAGE IS NOT 7days or a month thing.. Fights will carry on for years till you die so why risk it? better walk away please like what year did she get that pregnancy we are talking about self? was it on first contact? |

Please can I invest it in TBills?
If I can't please can someone advise me on the right part to go... freeman67: You can invest it in mutual fund I.e money market fund, FG bond and FG saving bond....The lowest banks collect for TB is 100k do as Freeman67 said.. Mutual funds are just like Tbills only. .some invest in other things.. But Stanbic IBTC money Market Fund invests in TBills So gives 100% security. -Minimum investment is N5000 only -add more whenever.. -Daily interest compounding -accumulated interest paid every 3months -You can withdraw cash anytime after first 30days. mail their customer care for full details. start and grow your funds there till you reach 100k, then do TBills |

C4Ltd: what do you mean by slicing with old deadly meagre rates?
The rates are based on history. The fbn tbills guy simply said based on last bidding, 91 days was about 13.%.
what more caution is there? Or are you at the level of 50m and above someone got sold a 300+d tenor at 17+% recently... A Branch manager at FBN told me tBills are only primary mkt.. She didnt know about secondary mkt. No extra caution. Just show you are in the know and they wont try anything funny |

Please who manages your account, is diamond bank good in trading TB, at the primary market. Am awaiting a response from you. Thanks STICK with IBTC or First Bank Always ask for the person in charge of TBills at the branch at the customer care desk. ask for the form if you are ready..or ask to know the available secondary mkt deals dont act like you are ignorant or they will SLICE YOU! And sell you their old deadly Tbills at meagre rates THE TOTAL CHARGES are in the range of 0.5-1.5% of the interest YOU MAKE. Not On your CAPITAL. |

cooldudeng: Just a little provocation!!!
We know the "Government" is looking focr a cheaper way to fund the current budget deficit. Going by the gist we all know, which is still subject to senate approval, the Finance Minister route might be possibly approved.
... So, isn't it better to lock my funds for the next one year or anything about 300+ days? So, why will i want to partake in this current primary auction knowing the maximum tenor i can get out is 182 days when we have secondary market equally doing better?
If i'm so crazy about primary market, would rather wait for the next auction scheduled for August 31, 2017.
CIt's going long all the way!!! Watch the SEC market..if you see any 300+d tenor with 18+% LOCK IT Big question is.. WHAT WILL THE ECONOMY BE LIKE by this time next year with the coming elections and all?? |

Lets suppose the Plan of the finance ministry sees the light of day. When will the National assembly ratify it, and when will this take effect on the NTB market.
I think these info would help us make informed decisions and salvage what we have now.
Answers please! 3-6months max they need that money to start election campaign by January... they also have the power to fast track the ratification so 3 months is very possible |

Investnow2017: I truly like your outlook and analysis, but what borders me is why the govt chose to float the Savings bond below the inflation rate of 16.1% and still expect that retail investors for whom it is targetted would patronise same. If you ask me, their present discovery of a much discounted int bond to refinance their costs of loans may not so much scale down the rates at which local TBills are auctioned unless they care less about liquidity factor. savings bond covers a long period..2yrs crude price can rise, Buhari can win again, many things can happen ..thats why the rate for long term investments must be lower. i hate to say it but ELECTION PLANS have started! everything the govt does now must be tied to 2019 elections. This dollar Bond will expire AFTER that election, ring a bell? On paper, its a good deal..FIs dont have to convert to Naira again |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by RealityShot: 8:27am On Aug 12, 2017 |
chukzyfcbb: Slow down bruh, Its not a clause that inflation must always be under Tbills rate. In 2016, the first four months of last year had inflation over Tbills , yet investors were still falling over themselves to invest in Tbills.
Need to remind you that there has been pressures on the CBN to reduce their rates so that manufacturers can get loans at cheaper rates.
Now Tbills rate will gradually come down seeing that inflation is also decreasing judging by the stats from NBS, present bout 16.25% leaving investors with net profit of 2% after Tbills investment.
Now here is what I think, since euro bonds are to be issued more, -it certainly means the govt will influence Tbills ( MPR) to be sold at reduced rate which will cause a ripple effect on inflation, causing inflation to fall.
- The exchange rate will improve knowing that foreign investors actually prefer Eurobonds to our stocks or debt instruments. Also causing another ripple effect in inflationary rates.
Its my prediction that Tbills rate will reduce from 18% to find stability at say 15% if they go ahead with their plan AGREED |

gnykelly: the rules have changed and this is for professionals. if you don't know I would advise you to checkout. "CHECKOUT" of what? tolajay: Thanks for the clarification.
Need to get something started while the rates are high...Scared of this new idea by FEC. scared of what? SIMPLE... If they sell TBills below INFLATION RATE..most investors will pull out...that will afftect liquidity/cashflow for the govt. They must continue TBills above inflation Rate . So they have found a cheaper source of loan to reduce the OVERALL COST of the loans.... 18% TBills + 7% Int Bond = 25% divide that by 2 to get the actual interest rate you get 12.5% for the next 3years... but TBills stays above inflation Rate locally.. everybody wins... |

“You are not increasing your debt. You are using $3 billion debt to pay off. So, the total debt stock will not increase. The structure is going to change. So, you are using debt, which is of lower cost and longer maturities to take out the short term debt. That is the best thing that can happen to Nigeria.” like some people mentioned earlier.. This high rates can't last forever! however, its clear the banks are behind this sudden drastic move! No worries.. 100% security of capital remains the beauty of treasury bills! THEY ARE NOT STOPPING TREASURY BILLS ..yet or ever |

wellsaid: Good evening house. Please I don't know how significant this question am about to ask is but I am going to ask any way.
What advantages do trading the secondary market have over the primary market and vice versa. I assume trading the secondary market is more convenient compared with trading the primary even though u sometimes get lower rates. Apart from the interest rate which other factor(s) would make waiting for the primary auction be a better decision than simply patronizing TBills in the secondary market? you have all the facts RIGHT. what you need is confidence in the system. pri or sec is same thing. if you have the money now and next primary is in 2 weeks .. Go for Secondary if you see a rate close enough to your target rate. primary market is slow and requires waiting to know the resultant rate. But secondary market is instant and rate is known BEFORE you invest. except u want a full 364Dy tenor SEC is best for beginners |

emmanuelewumi: Good question, you asked a question which 97% of bank customers will ask.
I suggest you get a book titled"Getting rich with other people's money" by Paul Sarnoff.
I used one of my TB as a collateral for a loan of N1 million in July 2017, interest rate was 25% while the duration is for 1 year. Monthly payment is about 95k for 12 months which will amount to N1.14 million, processing, management fees etc is 30k. At the completion of the loan payment, I would have paid N1.17 million.
I bought Zenith Bank shares with the loan @ N22, UBA shares @ N8.50, Lafarge WAPCO shares at N52. stocks stockbrokers NSE... things that just remind me of 2008! anyways..bout the loan.. i wont try that sha..except its like smeone said and my T-bills are a lot bigger than the sum i require for the deal. thanks for explaining |
