NL is not an avenue for condemning the Bible rather as christians, there is virtually nothing wrong with us x-raying the activities of the scripture and how it affects our daily lives.Bottomline is this there is no controversy about the fact that Jesus Lord! The idea with which materialism has crept into the church is one thing we need to always have a guide against.How can you keep quite when a pastor tells the congregation that the reason some people are poor is cos they pay tithe or sow seeds.Have you been to church where pastors would say God told them 3 people are the church and God wants them to donate #100,000 each, then 10people comes out,why don't the pastor turn back the 7 other people if actually God mentioned 3 people?Common, people re getting wiser by the day.Early christianity wasn't in this form,people were not promised prosperity(even if U got it through corrupt means) on earth and Heaven in eternity.God is not a magician, there is no short cut to prosperity, if you want to prosper, you simply need to change your believe and THINKING parterns.God and Nature rewards hardwork,deligency and intelligency.
If you study the Bible,some where in proverbs, christians were asked to go and study the life styles of "ANTS" to see how they survive in and out of season.Christianity is not a Religion rather its a RELATIONSHIP with God.Any Religion that tells you God is solely responsible for your actions and inactions is an IRRESPONSIBLE RELIGION.
Bottomline is here is that many Pastors in Nigeria have been able to caved out a RELIGION from CHRISTIANITY, and they in most cases twist the scriptures to suit there personal agrandisements.That is why even in pentecostal churches, they all have different modes of worshipping and doctrines.They simply can't agree and the Bible tells us our God is not the Author of confussion.

@huxley:The response I gave to you in 1stCorinthians7 verses 15 should be sufficient for you.Like I have told you before, you keep looking for avenues to fault the Bible.Every scripture in the Bible are inspiration of God, they are meant for edifications,corrections and admonition.You don't just pick an isolated scenerio and try classifying it.
Finally, go back to my response and that settles this issue.Once again, you have a right to question any pastor or whoever that interpretes God's word.But my man, I will advice that you don't insult God even if you think He doesn't exist.

@SirJohn and KunleOshob:God bless you guys!Its only a deaf,dumb and blind person(christian or non-christian ) that would assume that many of these so called men of God are not taking advantage of the gullibility of the people.Religion they say is the opium of the people.Many of these pastors what they do is pick a biblical passage and attach it to our daily activities to exploit the people.
 Thats the morer reason a pastor would qoute the bible why he is driving the most expensive life is because in Jesus time riding on a horse or camel is expensive.Right now the vogue is buying of private jets,,Now the idea is the word of God sure and can't be broken.And its also sure and certain to note that many of these pastors are twisting the srcipture to suit what they want.Bill Gates is not a pentecostal, and am yet to see any pastor in this world that pleases God as much as this man.He was at a time the richest man in the world worth almost $60Billion.Do you guys know that he is worth less $30Billion,spending his wealth to take care of people with polio and other ailments in Nigeria,Ghana,Core D'ivoire etc.There is no tithe that is worth this!But many of these pastors have widowed women in the church,unemployed graduates,sick people without means to affordable healt care in there midst and no care is given them.
  What about the issue of sowing of seeds?seeds to take care of pastor and his children.Why is it when a pastor dies, it is either his wife or son that takes over the church?The truth is that there are many questions begging for answers.Jesus is Lord, the word of God is true but our pastors are taking advantage over the people with psychological gimmicks.

To tell the truth, I couldn't do it(i.e pay the firstfruit). What will I tell my family? After waiting a while, the Pastor came right out to ask me, and I told him why I couldn't do it. I informed him I paid my tithe, but he said tithe is not acceptable to God in place of firstfruit and I should pray for deliverance from the Devourer.
After this came a series of soft harassments- u know, innuendoes, veiled aspersions,e.t.c all calculated to make me see the "error" of my ways.
I however don't know why things should be like this. Firstfruit should be between me and God right? why then his(Pastor's) vested interest? And its not as if the man is a pauper, No. He drives a BMW X3 for Christs sake. Me? I don't even have a car.

A lot of things are just not right with the way these pastors are acting.Pleaes young man run out of that church!And when you get to another please don't you ever get closer to the pastor.Your serving God is a relationship btw U and God and not a pastor.How can a Pastor come telling you that d only way U can be recession proof is by paying your tithes?what about those who all there lives have got no jobs and no tithe to pay?Bro and sis,people should use both there head and heart when relating with these pastors.Can you imagine the story of this poster?This not less than cajoling,manipulating and coercing.

Going by the above comments, if democracy is alien to Africans, For God's sake what in this world is not alien to Africa?The car we drive, the airplane we board,Christianity and almost anything you can think of.I strongly and personally would advice Christians anywhere in the world to be actively involved in Politics.In the USA, christians are a very strong factor in determining who the President is gonna be.In australia most of there parliaments are christians and even there topmost parliamentarian is a minister of God.
For me have always adviced Christians in Nigeria to use there Head and not all that there pastors says.

Why would a man marry such a woman commiting adultery? You silly christians have lost your minds and you just take anything pushed down your throat.

Huxley pls take it easy,I had mentioned to you that you re Bitter b4,but I really don't understand the reason why you re so bitter!As concerning what you mentioned,similar issue was raised in the Bible to Paul in 1stCorinthians7 but particularly in verses 15,U can read up.In the old testament,the only condition for divorce is infidelity, but with pauls explanation in verse I mentioned,a woman can never be held bound if the man decided to walk out or quit a marriage,such woman can remarry.
So once again, I hope this anwers ur question and I say to you again with all assurance,God loves you so much and with thesame zeal,intellect you re using to question d Bible and Jesus,thesame zeal shall you be used of the Lord.It did happen to saul who became paul in the Bible!God bless you man!

Prophecies come true

Going by the so called above prophecies, a man of God like these are also reasons why people should be careful about churches they attend.If he is so good at prophesying, I will take him serious when he tells me the exact time Jesus is coming back again.What arrant nonesense, telling me Obama would win his election,,,do I need a prophet 2 tell me that,,and what has that got to do with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.The Governor that was flown out and eventually died is not the only sick person in Nigeria,,He could have seens lots of people dying in poverty in mushin, okokomaiko and ajegunle.As far as I know I doubt many of these pastors and this man is one of them,,,Arrant rubbish!!talking about Nigeria economy rebounding, what does he know about economy?Why can't he prophesy to Nigerian leaders that if they don't stop corruption, they re going to be punished by God?

Imagine if it had been Nigeria. Nobody would think Daddy's teaching was wrong, much less dare to tell him so. Everything they say is divine, though we have a Bible and are supposed to examine their teaching by the light of the bible. That's why the unscrupulous take advantage of innocent Christians. But you know, not all Pastors teach tithing to get money. A few teach it because that is what they were taught in pastoral schools. They sincerely believe Christians should tithe, as if God's love and blessing is conditioned upon tithing.
Only the Jews are subject to Jewish laws anyway. And Paul tells them in Romans 6 that as Christians, Jews are no longer subject to the law.

Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. 14For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

Concerning the firstfruits stuff, personally I do not believe in that and its just one of the many frauds and manipulations going on in the churches 2day.
The Bible clearly states that we should'nt give grudgingly,once there is grudge in your heart about what you wanna give, then something is not right about such giving.So to the poster,Take care of your parents and family with your first fruits and bless God on there behalf for sending you to school and been there for you.As for tithingyou can give 10% to the church you worship.If that doesn't satisfy your pastor,pls look for another church.God bless you!!Some of these pastors thinks they re dealing with people who can't use there head.

I have never said such. since christians(i am talking about christianity because that is the only religion i know very well because i once was one) provide their assumptions as facts. i feel it's good that we take a look at those assumptions and see if they are credible enough.
With due respect to your opinions, once again I join in the leagues of those who believe the have answers to all our problems irrespective of the fact certain people in high spiritual places have failed us.The Bible is not an assumption, it is valid and an infallible words from the only infallible personality.Crhistianity is not a Religion,it is a Relationship btw man and God.

Bottomline is this, the fact that you accept or refuse to believee in the existence does not change the fact that God truly exist.Until as a Christian you come to the knowledge that chrsitianity is not a Religion,rather its a relationship btw man and God.
For all those says god does not exist I believe you! But I strongly believe that God truly exists!! Am not talking about god or other deities am talking about that God that lives even in the HEART of those that hates him.In the USA where people in the past used to hold this assertion,do you what now? Moreover, if I believe in the existence of God and allows God reign in my life,I simply don't have anything to loose at the end of the day if it happens God does not exists.But if I live my life as if there is no God and at the end, I discover there is God, then I have everything to loose cos how do reconcile the fact that have denounced Him all my life.My fellow friends, we don't have an excuse,there is God!!!!!!!!!
