Dagrin, the award-winning Nigerian rapper from Ogun, Nigeria, was born as Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun on 21 October 1987. He attended several schools including Meiran community primary school, Roseille Nursery and Primary School, Meiran Community high school and Egbado College. Known for his unique style of rapping that incorporated Yoruba, English and Pidgin English, Dagrin gained prominence before his untimely death on 22 April 2010 at the age of 22. Sadly, he died in a car accident on 14 April 2010, when his car collided with a stationary trailer (heavy-duty vehicle) in front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos. His car, a 2008 Nissan Maxima, carried the number plate DAGRIN 03. During the candlelight ceremony held in his honor, his father's speech was the rap he did to the song he was featured in by YQ, titled "Efimile." Despite his short-lived career, Dagrin's legacy continues to make him a celebrated figure. He was nominated for several awards, including the Nigerian Entertainment Awards for Best Album (C.E.O.), Hottest Single "Pon Pon Pon," Best Rap Act, and Best Collaboration with vocals in 2010. His album C.E.O. won the Hip hop World Award 2010 for Best Rap Album, and it featured hit singles like "Pon Pon Pon" and "Kondo." Dagrin collaborated with several Nigerian artists such as Y.Q, 9ice, M.I, Iceberg Slim, Omobaba, Terry G, Code, MISTAR DOLLAR, TMD entertainment, Omowumi, Chuddy K, Bigiano, and Konga. He worked with notable music producers like Sossick, Dr Frabz, Sheyman, Frenzy, and 02. In April 2011, a film titled Ghetto Dreamz, which portrayed Dagrin's life, was released with Trybson Dudukoko and Doris Simeon-Ademinokan starring as Dagrin's girlfriend. One of his famous singles, "Pon Pon Pon," holds cultural significance as it depicts the lifestyle in various parts of southwestern Nigeria, including Lagos, Agege, Ifewara, Mushin, Ikeja, Surulere, Isale Eko, and other areas where life in the slums intermingles with life in the affluent cities. Dagrin's songs touch upon ethnicity, pride, survival in the streets of Lagos, and criticism of bad behavior by elderly people. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bKGh0e-_6I |

On his wife's birthday today, the Nigerian musician known for his controversial reputation, Portable, presented her with a bouquet of money, cakes, and other gifts. During the celebration, he was spotted wearing matching attire with his wife and joyfully dancing with her. Although at one point, he attempted to bring his wife in front of the camera, she seemed hesitant, but eventually gave in and joined him in the dance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u-y7YQbK4A |

The blogger known as GistLover has recently made a shocking revelation on social media about a well-known musician with a large fan following. According to Gist Lover, the musician is allegedly expecting a second child with one of his previous partners, which has angered the father of the musician. Gist Lover also claimed that the musician had recently gotten married, making the situation even more scandalous. In addition, Gist Lover stated that the musician's new spouse was recently caught having an affair with someone named Ralph from ASAP Chops. This is because Davido recently got married to his fiancée Chioma, and the details given by Gist Lover seem to fit their relationship. However, it is important to note that these allegations have not been confirmed by either the musician or any other credible source, and should therefore be taken with a grain of salt until further information is revealed.

Nahunger:Stop saving in dollars, maybe ![]() |
During his message, Pastor Chris claimed that the US dollar is simply a regular piece of paper supported solely by propaganda, and that it is not as valuable as other currencies that are supported by tangible assets. He predicted that those who trust in the dollar will eventually realize its insignificance, and that when a crash occurs, the repercussions will be extremely agonizing. https://youtube.com/shorts/GyYw22kuxnI?feature=share

Achraf Hakimi, a football player known for his exceptional skills, has gained worldwide fame. His mother, Sadia Mouth, has played a significant role in his life, even saving him from possible bankruptcy. Recently, the two were seen celebrating together after winning a divorce case filed by Hakimi's former partner. In 2020, Hakimi married Spanish actress Hiba Abouk, with whom he has been living for the past three years and shares two children. Abouk filed for divorce, demanding half of Hakimi's property, money, and jewelry as alimony. However, to her surprise, it was revealed that Hakimi had registered all of his assets, including his property, house, money, jewelry, and car, in his mother's name. During the 2022 World Cup, Hakimi and his mother's affectionate moments caught the attention of the media, especially after Morocco's impressive run in the tournament. Many players were seen with their mothers after triumphs, which captured the hearts of fans worldwide. Recently, Hakimi went through a divorce with Abouk, who demanded half of his properties. However, it was later revealed that over 80% of his net worth was controlled by his mother. Hakimi's decision to register all of his assets in his mother's name has been praised for his business savvy. Hakimi has expressed his deep love and admiration for his mother, stating that she is everything to him. He continues to keep his earnings from football in his mother's bank account and has no properties or spare cash in his name, showing his unwavering loyalty and affection for his mother https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZADXI00EQ7s |
It appears that Nairaland is primarily populated by individuals with subpar education. I find it difficult to understand how someone who is reasonable could read a statement and then proceed to make nonsensical comments. It seems that individuals on this platform engage in political discussions without considering sound reasoning. It is appalling to witness someone attempt to criticize the Igbos by defending the Nigerian government. I am curious to know if there is anything that this government has done to instill confidence in its citizens. Can you mention just 3 things that this government has accomplished that benefits you or your family? Despite the evident suffering and poverty, people still take to this platform to defend the government. Rather than addressing issues directly, people here seem to display hatred towards particular ethnic groups. Even those who don't comprehend the original statement quickly jump in to denounce it simply because of the author's presumed ethnic background. When you don't align with their beliefs, they are quick to label you as Igbo. Rather than accepting the truth, they resort to meaningless rhetoric.

That Adamu guy is something else. They even photoshopped Peter Obi to prove a point. |
LOL, the APC and their supporters are known for their shady nighttime behavior. INEC announced election results while most Nigerians were asleep, which is not surprising given the APC's track record. It's also interesting to note the time they posted the news on Nairaland, which seems to suggest they are trying to control the narrative. It's clear that the APC has a lot to hide and their dominance on the front page is suspicious. We are aware of their tactics.....

Heroicvic:I still don't comprehend why this occurs in this place. You can make a post regarding current events, but the moderators will ignore it. However, after a few days, someone else will post the same news, and it will be immediately promoted to the front page. Dear Seun, please instruct your moderators to avoid showing favoritism and prioritize current news instead of outdated ones. Why wait for news to become stale before promoting it to the front page? |
