Jack500:Same problem with Liverpool and Spurs. I always tell you guys. Buy your own set of customised midfield midgets like Bernardo and Ikel at City or Odegaard and Viera at the Emirates to run rings round opponents and create chances. The modern European game demands that. United has no creativity at the centre of the park, too top heavy team. |
Spurs to cast the Devil's out of top four heaven by supper tomorrow. |
Chai, the Devil's are cast down..... ![]() |
Way past long overdue. It was patently obvious that he had lost control of the team like a hapless pilot of a stricken aircraft and was unable to motivate his players anymore. This gradual decay is present in many other clubs just that management many times do not read the early signs of an impending crash where the coach becomes an onlooker of sorts in the dressing room, a lame duck in the dugout with the players not responding to technics and tactics they no longer believe in . My concern now is with ten matches or so to go has Leicester not left it too late to avoid impacting the ground. |
After complaining about the government for years, protesting against maladministration they still managed to return this government to power. That is Nigeria for you. A people that cannot lead themselves successfully. By November they will be here again posting ugly pictures of sufferings for others to join them in lamenting. There is a popular saying, that what you tolerate you accept. The people of that state by their electoral actions have ratified the quality of governance they receive. There is no incentive for any government to perform better now or in the future. Compare to Abia state that has finally liberated themselves from the vicious cycle of failure by sending a strong signal to the new government that the broom that chased out the first wife remains available. |
Na una dey cause am. No need for violence. Next time play classical music. |
muykem:Is that your solution.... Is that what the APC has to offer..... I laugh. Minimum wage for who.... in a populace with an unemployment rate of 40 percent, and where government employs only 5 percent of those engaged meaning that any salary increases it makes has no impact whatsoever on the wellbeing of citizens. You better wake up to the fact that if 1 out of ten citizens is covered by government the rest 9 will dilute whatever he has. Inflation is a killer and economies round the world battle hard to keep it contained and prevent vicious cycles from starting. The only way out is productivity, the ability to create or generate value and not just doling out money to whoever. Your refineries must be working to produce products. Your power plants must be generating electricity. Your factories must be producing goods particularly for export. Can the APC deliver these in a few short months before the removal of subsidies......? |
if subsidies of whatever kind, be it energy or currency cannot be removed within a month of the new government it will never be removed in the life of the coming administration. For if popular governments could not do it how much more an unpopular one that hits the ground by May ending. And having left the economy and citizens in financial peril across board through reckless spending, unsustainable external borrowings that have all but maxed out, investments that are not forthcoming and a mismanaged oil industry which remains unstable and unreliable at best, there is just no public appetite whatsoever for more suffering, no more sacrifices to offer. So I just cannot see any way out for the ruling APC. The Buhari government has indeed handed over a poisoned chalice to his successor. And this is why democracy implores that when a government does badly it is changed, voted out, so that hope is renewed and with new people in place offerings of sacrifices can be made by the citizens. In a nutshell the hardest decisions where politics meets governance are only made by fresh governments. The NLC is firing the first shots of a long and torrid time to come. Never in the history of this country are the people ready to 'fight' before a government is even sworn in. To me it is a sign of maturing amongst the populace. That unlike in the past they are not prepared to accept hot air and propaganda as appetizer while waiting for the meal of good governance this time. They indeed do not see this new government as 'coming to the rescue'. They rather want to see action from the get go. The scenario is clear. If subsidies are removed and inflation gallops sending even more into crushing poverty they will not be satisfied with phantom 5,000 naira stipends this time around or so called infrastructure that only enriches contractor friends and family or salary increases for public servants who constitute a micro fraction of the populace, but they will angle for the real deal which is real economic growth which hinges on industrialization and job creation across board. This is the only way out and they have their work cut out. Mr. Buhari has left the country in a total mess. No one to blame this time around but ourselves. |
Chai.... Chelsea.... this must be modern day voodoo... how come? |
The City result will send a shiver down spines at the Emirates. |
Pep is one of the best coaches at preparing his teams after an international break despite the fact that throughout his career all his teams have been dominated almost exclusively by internationals that return in all sorts of conditions and.with little time to train. He will be a great national team coach as well should he try. |
It is just an advisory. It is only in these parts of the world a single individual determines economic policy as if these loans are personal. But our unfortunate citizens are more interested in who is the Chief Executive than the quality of the government that he operates in. They should instead demand that their governor be stripped of any power to solely determine monetary policy. In other places government is a continuum and economic policy is a long term multi term establishment that gives investors of every kind confidence. A threat like this will only cause the state financial damage and downgraded ratings. |
That is what we are saying. It will be an extension of the present government, warts and all. This is exactly why when governments do not perform they are changed wholesale, not just the President but he party because democracy know that leaders are elected on the platform of parties and parties contain the working elements of government. Later on the same citizens will be complaining that certain elements have 'hijacked' the government and that 'cabals' are running the show. How will a Tinubu presidency perform with these same people who should be reviewing their failed actions over the past eight years and sitting in limbo to learn from them. Nigerians will learn this democracy thing by the force of suffering. |
Tribalism will be the death knell of this country. From 1999 it has been worsening and by the looks of it will assume unprecedented levels in the coming regime. So sorry for Nigeria. Other nations have left it in the dust. |
Deserea:Leave "leaders' alone and focus on your fellow citizens and stop this chicken and egg argument once and for all. It is chicken hearted, diseased citizens that produce and sustain bad egged leadership time and again. Americans feared being overun by immigrants so they voted in Trump. He turned out to be divisive and dangerous so they voted him out. That is how people control their nations for their own good. They don't like someone or something and get act. They don't pretend by loving their oppressors out of sentiment on one hand and wailing behind the scenes on the other like Nigerians do. We are too irresponsible here. |
From a person who fought the 'illegitimate' military regimes on the onus of democracy this is a huge leap into the abyss. Almost everything the ruling APC stood for and boasted about in the past, when in waiting are being trampled upon today. Where is democratic progress. |
None. We are not on the same track. Their staples and ours are different. |
The inlaw should have read the manual before purchase..... ![]() |
nedekid:Bathrooms with large windows or screens is the solution if you cannot get a ventilator. But we are accustomed to bathrooms with such small windows you'd think you are on a ship or airplane. Cannot ever get my head round this third world thing..... smallest windows in the most olfactory challenged room in the house. |
Martartins:A lion brought up by a lion to become a lion will certainly be a successful lion. It is the fundamental law of success and the foundation of great nations you see today where multiple generations of professionals, entrepreneurs, industrialists and artistes of every kind hold sway. It is a sound principle that those who build on things rather than reinvent the wheel are bound to win expending less resources to get further ahead. The father in this case will have spent a fraction to get his son into this position while the son will spend a fraction to remain ahead of his peers. |
fkj950ax:The spent casing of a 'live' round and a blank cartridge are not the same. In a live round the bullet is driven into the powder filled cartridge and held by friction. When the powder is ignited the bullet overcomes this friction and flies leaving a smooth tipped cartridge. In blank ammunition there is no bullet. The mouth of the cartridge is clamped or crimped shut to hold in the powder. When the powder ignites it forces the mouth of the cartridge open leaving jagged edges. That is how to know the difference and this is coming from someone who has handled weapons officially and shot hundreds m of rounds of many types and calibres.. |
Mccullum:And where is the mechanism going to come from, out of the clouds?, borne by Angels?. Is it not when a people get fed up with the status quo after horrendous suffering and decide to sit down and like the prodigal son and reason that there is a better way to live..... And then invite his neighbour to discuss and agree the values by which all society is run, values by which all relationships are made...... the process of which is called restructuring. But when a third of Nigeria is scared stiff to act, the other third is fleeing to other climes leaving a complicit third blinded by ignorance, what do you expect. The country just cannot get better like this. It is not about elections and leaders as we have had many since 1999 or 1960 but about the system by which nations are established, grow and prosper which is fundamentally faulty. |
But they say the government is 'doing well'.... in undermining institutions and letting criminals off the hook. And the hapless victims, the ignorant citizenry fully agree, cheers them on and extends their mandate for another term. Without restructuring, Nigeria CANNOT progress. Without restructuring there are just no tools to plant a proper, progressive nation. We are just scattering seeds, hoping trees of life will grow. We are bound by our system to continue in error. Another four years is about to be lost. |
They can't vote in leaders they can control. This is the lot of the black man. Unfortunate clowns. |
Hmmm..... Ekweremadu didn't get the memo.... ![]() |
We are waiting.... |
With all the success claimed governing Lagos, why is it that after 23 years of democracy this economic sub-culture of transport touting has not been addressed, contained or eradicated. Are there no other productive things the government can engage these youth in. The government spends billions every year on infrastructure of every kind. Why can't it be a source of employment for these folks. |
See what Lagos has become. An ethnic mess. Just shocking. Unbelievable. A long lost melting pot where all tribes and tongues had come together to call her national capital for a hundred years has now mutated into a fiefdom. Where some of other tongues and persuasions had been born and raised, aged and quite a number have died and are buried in her hallowed grounds and vaults knowing no other place to call their own. Having contributed their part to making Lagos what it is today, they will be turning in their graves. Truly Nigeria is begging for restructuring. Without it this country is heading for disaster, internal strife that will simply tear it apart. In Portharcourt, the capital of Rivers state a few years ago at a friend's place this same question arose. When does a locality transit from being a 'village' into a 'city'. Not just by name or size but indeed. Why he asked. I said, 'because you live right in the middle of town, claiming to live in a city yet you've just told me you cannot raise a female dog because the local customs forbids it... A place where oil service workers, civil servants, bankers, businessmen and women of every kind from every part of the world lived in fancy estates. How come? I will borrow a leaf from Boris Johnson's keynote speech in Lagos at the Osigwe lecture with the persuasion and backdrop of our fellow brothers who have long located to Europe and the Americas and are doing well and have even become leaders in all works of life including politics. That Lagos is at the cross roads l. It has maximised it's franchise development and is now faced with the stark reality that it either has to transition from being a 'village' into a 'city' and open up it's atmosphere for full integration of all tribes and tongues or there will begin to be migration towards true cities wherever they may be. Good students of history the world over know that geographical locations are fleeting and the gravitational attraction of success can change when the forces of repulsion become unbearable. Lagos like every aspiring mega 'city' will either reform or decay. I hope the more intellectual and visionary people amongst the present day leadership will push to take charge of this drama and steer this ship of state away from the jagged rocks of ethnicity before it is too late. Lagosians should find, listen and digest the critical parts of Boris Johnson's speech again and again. |
Osun state citizens should implore this man to do something about his weight or the taxpayer will bear the brunt of medicare. |
Welcome development if it will cause a revolution. But trust that a hapless, ignorant citizenry will turn on themselves while shielding their oppressors. |
Zico5:Yet Nigeria remains the poverty capital of the world.... with all the 'wisdom' .... please explain how come, and how far ahead of others are you folks. |
Abeg leave all these people and work on yourselves first. Changing tyrants every four years will not make for democracy. It is the ability of the people to extract dividends that matter. Nigeria has spent trillions of naira on elections since 1999.... changed diapers endlessly, yet it stinks. The people are busy chasing individuals, pinning false hopes on folks that have in the darkest recesses of their hearts the 'emilokan' spirit, only ready and steady to have their cake and eat it. In time to come Nigerians will be safe electing only horses into office. At least you know they eat only carrots and turnips and once a while you can ride them.....pssst... ![]() |
