See Partey I was praising a minute ago... ![]() |
Partey is the only one in that middle and back with any composure when Arsenal is under pressure. They should hope Antonio runs out of gas sooner than later. |
The EFCC should closely monitor the bank accounts of all the players within the catchment area of this growing scandal. What a mess. |
The credibility of INEC as an institution is in tatters... They make it harder by the day to be seen as apolitical and unbiased. Someone needs to step in and call them to order to prevent a total breakdown of law and order. |
Kai Nigerian men have lost their pride completely. Truly shocking. Wonder how I will have felt about my dad running away from my mum to his mum..... just weird. In those days it used to be that they were in control of their own affairs. Knew how to organise themselves and forge an independent future. Today the hideout is mama's.... This is all the result of lack of personal discipline.... kids getting into things way past them. |
Originalsly:Well that is the proof of those who will serve and those who are in it for personal gain, they stay 'in service' whether 'in office' or not. There are politicians the world over who have never been in the office they aspired for yet have great legacies. As a matter of fact office doesn't fit everyone. And I keep on saying this. Where were the leading aspirants of the PDP in particular all these past 8 years. They are a great part of the reason this country has not progressed well. They failed in their duty 'out of government'. So where is the proof they will have succeeded 'in government'. The Labour Party has a lot of work to do since it appears to have taken the lead as the defacto 'government in waiting'. And like I've said. If it does it well then its chances in 2027 are certain. There is no other clean way to the top except service. |
iLoveYouToo:No sir. I disagree. It is four long years to PREPARE. |
Exactly. This should be the message to all those who lost out in the recent elections at all levels particularly the storied Presidential elections. That though you have right to seek justice and though the process was fatally flawed and though through push back the system will be sanitized for the benefit of all now and in the future, But the fact is that service for a cause is not exclusively in the position of authority. In a democracy service is also in opposition and where there is credible, vibrant and intellectually based opposition democracy thrives and becomes a positive instrument for development. This Nigeria has lacked in the 5th Republic. The 16 years of the PDP never had one and so the governments did as they pleased to the nations loss, the past 8 years was no better. This time around there is a chance to put things right by those who have lost standing in the office of government 'in waiting'. By scrutinizing every policy and program of government from day 1, criticizing the wrongs and offering better solutions. That is service and that is the easiest way to get into power, because it will be abundantly clear to the citizenry that such offerings are better than what they are presently given. For the parties that lost out they should rally round, form teams of technocrats and begin the task of 'shadow governance'. There is a wide enough media space to sell their alternate ideas to the public who will in turn pressurize the government to act appropriately and when the government CANNOT or WILL NOT act accordingly then the outcome of the next elections is certain. |
KingLennon:What happened to his arm. |
No need for all these. The proof of a right electoral choice is in the quality of governance. By 2027 it will be clear what happened.... right or wrong. It is clear 2015 was a mistake. and 2019 a bigger one... so... |
Reading a number of comments... All I will say here is that the practice of self help and communal development will only become the in thing in a proper federation. If Nigeria was restructured into a proper Federation and everyone depended exclusively on what he is able to do then Nigeria will be better for it. I believe the country will develop faster. The incentives to do such commendable projects as we see here will then become formalized and not just voluntary. Then development becomes real business and a whole industry where governments develop partnerships. Structure is everything. |
Xscape1993:On weak people... |
Genius100:Oga. Monetary policy is EVERYTHING. It reaches EVERYONE in equal measure. In developed economies the great enemy is not pestilence or war, it is inflation. It raises and brings down governments. The cost of living is the exclusive preserve of Federal governments everywhere in the world. Poverty and wealth is a national subject matter. And by the way. In case Mr. Festus has forgotten, Nigeria is not a proper Federation. The owners of Nigeria have resisted the devolution of powers to lower federating units for over 50 years. Our present structure suits their feudal lifestyle and paves the way to their objectives. Without truly independent States and Local governments there is simply no metrics by which you can assess their performance. And finally the ruling APC has the yam and the knife at hand. They control the Federal Government including the Executive, Legislature and massively influence the Judiciary. They have the most States and Local governments in check. Do what does the party stand for, what is it's agenda, what is it doing to restructure Nigeria into a proper Federation..... And Nigerians brought them back again for another term.... jokers. |
What can you do when you are terribly indebted to them. Consequences of modern day slavery. |
30 goals in 31 matches after spending 600 million pounds in two years is scandalous. That is 10 million pounds per goal in the Premiership this season.... haba. |
What exactly is the problem with Chelsea Fc. It is like a brand new Ferrari that just won't start.... where do you go.... |
Abians as stakeholders in this renewal have to see the process through. They have successfully broken the vicious cycle of misgovernance by ejecting the government in power for all of the 5th Republic. But elections is not the end of the matter, just the beginning of the second part, the part of advocacy. Holding the new government by the balls figuratively and compelling them on a day by day basis to govern in the interest of the people. In democracy there are no pleasant relationships. It is hardwork by government and a hard battle by the people. There will be blood, sweat and tears to get the State going. Warn your new government. That the broom stick that chased the first wife away remains at hand. Government must fear and respect the people to succeed ultimately. |
lexy2014:Sorry oh. If you can't understand, you can't understand, period. |
Pickmycall:No sir. It is the Nigerian. That thinks he knows it all... but his life sadly does not reflect his haughtiness. |
Did Nigerians vote them into power in 2015 on that basis. Where is the contract signed between the elected and the electorate to reflect a desire to reduce the unemployment numbers....where? Just verbal, party hall, empty promises that have faded away like smoke in the wind of propaganda. We are just joking in Nigeria. Right now consumption is slowing down in the United States, which is the fuel of the American economy and this is immediately reflecting in the chances of a Biden re-election. The poll numbers are already moving. Those are people who know what they want from a government, a people that know why they vote. Not like our people here who have been voting and voting and voting and voting and getting worse and worse and worse. Yet will not sit down for a moment to ask why. A people without knowledge, vision or values. |
So a man will sit his kids down and says to them that he does not trust their mother and that when he is gone they should go to their grand mother for succor.... and the kids will respect him for that?.... so he 'eats' his preference for his own mother but his children (if he has boys) should not have their own cake.... shallow thinkers all over the place.... |
All he's saying is that most folks don't think very far at all. Most just follow after like sheep. |
Bare fingers, no gloves.... what a mess. These are the folks that soil our currency and turn them to filthy rags in a few weeks. Let him operate his POS like that and it will fail in no time. There are some cultural things that must give way for development to emerge. |
The debate is on. As to whether Lagos is becoming a modern, evolved, cosmopolitan city or whether it will become one big, glorified village. If it cannot move forward other cities will catch up and pass it by. Something must give. |
Just make sure cost first principles will not lead to the kind of tragic incidents that we unfortunately see all over Nigeria. The quantity surveyor/cost controller should never take the lead on any project. Oga, don't start this way. You are setting up yourself for a lot of compromises in a highly inflated, fast price rising economy. You will end up taking serious risks. |
DennisEche:You are absolutely right FOR A FACT, but not FOR A TRUTH. The facts are clear in print. There was a single viable opposition party in 2019 and garnered something like 10 million votes to the ruling party's 12 million. This opposition more or less split into 3 with about 13 million votes. This will comfortably have removed the APC with 8 million votes in 2023. So the ruling party will operate with an unpopular mandate. This is clear. The truth however is that more people registered and voted in 2023 than in 2019 of a particular demographic that favours the opposition because of the newly emerged parties - the Labour Party and the NNPP. So it is not set in stone, it is not the absolute truth that the PDP would have won if it had remained homogenous. Both the APC and the PDP lost a lot of votes to the new parties. And while I personally agree that it was important to ensure the APC didn't return for the sake of democracy in the fact that failed governments should not be rewarded as it will imprint impunity and long term non performance, it was also important that Obi contested to reignite the citizenry to broader advocacy for better governance by including the middle class, the youth and the intellectual base of this country, a demographic that sat on the fence for too long. And then when you consider that the PDP failed woefully out of government and in the office of the 'opposition' then what moral basis has the PDP to desire a return to power. I don't wish the PDP dies an untimely death as this will not profit Nigeria's democracy and I feel a two party system is the most efficient model for democratic progress but the PDP's failures was endangering Nigeria and potentially turning it to a one party autocracy. |
They said Nigeria is doing well and they are leaving the country better than they met it..... ![]() So someone is economical.... with nothing else but the truth. |
Hawkler:Nigerians love people weighed down with truck sized baggage that run them virtually into the ground. So deep that such controversies will not allow them rise to see the light. |
Enemyofpeace:..... |
Drew13:Hmmm.... so he's a harbinger of pure bad luck.... Strange to have such a person in your squad when you don't intend to play kamikaze tactics. |
Yes, they will grab it, hand it over an insatiable federal government who will in turn give it to their 'contractor' family and friends for useless 'projects' to further inflate the economy. Appropriate and |
sslcrypt:Hmmm.... here they come.... contractors.... the bane of the Nigeria state..... and I hope the proposal includes how you will independently fund the initiative. |
