Government of contractors, by contractors and for contractors. Stop wasting our time and scarce resources and use the NIN data. Every Nigerian has an Identity. Use it. |
Well, it is about the choices we make and the consequences we face.... when the average Nigerian cannot relate his actions in installing goverments with the experiences of serial hardship. May the woes continue until we get it right in the head. |
Winning elections is one thing. Delivering expectations is entirely another. Nigerians will slowly and gradually learn how democracy works when the manifestation of this elections begins. In 2015 we were warned that capacity to rule was important. This time the song is clear, do not vote back into power an underperforming government. We have done exactly that and so over the course of the next four years we will learn why. This time around there will be no one to blame outside the circles of those championing the status quo. We don't want to hear that the forces that made this possible are the same 'holding us back from performing'. The excuses are over. |
Nawteemaxie:Nigerians always making jest of their calamity. A weak willed and ignorant people that cannot relate their acts to their experiences. |
Ha.....7. |

NightCyrax:Didn't watch the end of the match because it was absolutely annoying. But the winning goal is exactly what I was talking about. That sub is the essence of what Arsenal was earlier on in the season when they moved the ball quickly from the middle and created angles to shoot on goal. Saka, Martinelli and Odegaard did that very well in the first dozen games but they have slowed down considerably and their wing and centre play has become laborious and predictable, too easy for defences to track. It is pointless trying to work the ball into the net with packed defences or crossing when the forwards lack aerial threat. The only way to score is to create shooting angles in and around the box. They should practice that more if they want to win the title. Defences will give little away at the business end of the season. |
Arteta should teach his boys to shoot. Their dead ball skills are just too poor for a title aspiring team. |
Arteta cannot train his forwards to shoot on goal. They have spent more than half the match in and around the box 18. What else do they want... to walk the ball into the net....poor tactics. |
Reconciliation is unnecessary if one is sure the election was conducted properly and won justly. I think we should outgrow these primitive, paddy-padfy acts. Mr. Tinubu and the APC led government should run with its mandate and focus on deliverables according to its manifesto. Parties and candidates only come together before elections to form alliances and chit-chat. But once elections are over it is back to the trenches. They must stand their ground. I don't want a situation where compromises are made to water down agendas on both sides of the polity. This will not helping formulating ideologically based democracy. The APC is ruling. The PDP, Labour and NNPP are in opposition and must all work for and against policies, programs and ideas and to ensure dividends are delivered. This power flux is what democracy is all about. We cannot afford another term of autocracy where everyone nods in agreement to whatever the ruling party and the leadership throws in the air. Here the people who voted for other parties must be vigilant to ensure their parties and particularly their candidates do not form unholy alliances post election so that their efforts at the polls are not in vain. For a boat to move through water or a plane to fly through the air the PROPELLER must of necessity be on the OUTSIDE of the vessel or craft. Whenever the river or the ocean decides it too wants to sit in the boat then everyone sinks and everything is lost. I hope this wisdom is not lost on Nigeria and Nigerians. |
Mr Obi should let it go in the interest of the nation because of it's fragility. Aspirations can be realized both in government and in opposition particularly when the elected does not operate on a popular mandate so his agenda remains alive. Him and his party should not destabilize the country and undermine its stability. I will comment further.in the polity when emotions in the generality of Nigeria dies down a bit because most folks are not thinking straight at the moment. |
Congratulations to Mr Tinubu on his ascension as President elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in what has become the most competitive election ever in the history of this country. There are many issues left unanswered, many questions up in the air and it will take a herculean task to govern with a wafer thin and deeply unpopular mandate. Wish him and all his crew the very best. He will need it in the coming months and years for Nigeria right now is in very bad shape. The party will not be long. |
But the number of votes compared to the registered voters and the overall population of Lagos is ridiculously low. If this was a governorship ballot it means the governor will attempt to rule with less than 7 percent approval. This is the problem in Nigeria. Leadership has not been attractive enough to command stronger succeeding mandates. |
It appears the Legislature is a lot more diverse this time around with all the major parties picking seats. I hope it will make for much more vigour and enable the second arm of government do it's bidding as a checkmate to the Executive. We don't want to hear the term 'co-operation' or 'solidarity' with whoever wins the Presidency. We cannot afford to be sold down the river for another term as we have had under the Buhari/APC autocracy with devastating results. There are a lot of tough decisions to be undertaken by the new government and these require thorough scrutiny and vigorous debate so hat all Nigeria is on board and ready to salvage whatever is left of this sorry country. |
loosecanon50:A PDP agent actually. |
Without restructuring Nigeria simply cannot be fixed and led along the path of greatness. Elections is not synonymous with democracy as owning a few cobs of corn and a vast land synonymous with being a successful maize farmer. Elections are merely the end of a successful process and the beginning of a new and potentially more profitable one. If we don't do the work of fixing Nigeria via restructuring we will continue to decline, elections and new governments not withstanding. So folks, it is not about who wins or loses elections, but what the establishment of leadership is for. If we feel all these we do is for a few roads, bridges and rail lines, then I'm afraid we will continue to wallow, decay, diminish and ultimately waste away as a nation. |
No sir. Your party logo is not explicit enough. A poor representation that will cost you votes with many unaware appending the ZLP instead. |
I understand a number of folks are finding it hard to identify the Labour Party slot to select. I wonder how many will be voting for thw ZLP in error. Poor administration everywhere. |
Speedy please so that those of us who are more concerned about democracy and Nigeria rather that the mass mercantilism called elections can get on with our lives. |
ade2008:Well Nigerians, you have all be informed about the shortcomings of ALL the candidates. Their lives have been open book over the past few months, most secrets revealed so we have enough information on WHO NOT TO VOTE FOR. Should you go ahead and ignore such shortcomings and empower such a person, you have yourself to blame and will have imprisoned your future for the next four years, if not eight. For who to vote for there are only two recommendations I make. The candidate committed to restructuring Nigeria as the first course of action come May 30th. The candidate that can be controlled by the very people that empower him tomorrow. Every other criteria is secondary and impossible to attain if the first two are unattainable. Folks, DO NOT EMPLOY A MAN OR WOMAN YOU CANNOT FIRE. |
Looking very lonely..... everything.... is.... about to end.... leaving the thoughts.... of what could have been..... |
Finesse247:This is one of the most disgusting things I have heard surrounding this so called elections. Honestly, Nigerians are not ready to leave their graves. Democracy in Nigeria remains a mirage. Not wasting my time with this lot. It is shameful at this time to be called a citizen of this country.... to be given money to choose your |
".....Many of them are ignorant of the fact that without him, by now, they would have been in prison. He was there for them when the masses doubted trusting them. He encouraged the masses and urged them to vote for them with the assurance that they also were like him and only wanted to get to the position to serve them. In 2019 he had to visit all the 36 states, some twice to encourage people to vote for some of these governors. Recall that President Buhari went around the states in previous campaigns raising hands of these same APC governors, encouraging people to vote for them. A lot of them wouldn’t have been elected without that support from the president. It is shocking, to say the least, that these people whom president Buhari helped are now turning their back against him because of a government policy whose aim is to address issues of corruption, insecurity as well as improve the economy. What we expect of them is to rally around the president, educating the people to bear with the unintended pains for bigger gains....." [/b] Speaking specifically about Ganduje who Mr. Buhari in my opinion sacrificed whatever was left of his integrity when he raised his hands in support in and around the elections in 2019 despite the sword of anti-corruption Damocles hanging over his head. And then there was El-Rufai, many times when he battled public service and political elements as the governor fought them to establish his series of 'reforms'. Then there is the trouble called the governor of Kogi state who was practically living in Aso Rock to get re-elected and very shortly enmeshed himself in one of the biggest financial scandal of this regime and together with his other half has not ceased to embarrass his benefactors. All demystified.... how poetic.... ![]() |
The face of gross hardship. I think the authorities should start counting life in Africa from when a person truly begins to live..... and not just from when he entered into this dreary continent. Life is not just fair... |
Having taken a lot of time off the noisy marketplace of social media in the run up to the general elections, just like in 2011, 15, 19, my thoughts towards the august event is simple. Elections alone do not make for democracy. Elections are simply the end of a process of preparations for a change of government. Candidates alone do not make for a successful democratic experience or a positive government. It is the active participation of all stakeholders from the get to to the very end that ensures desires are met. For if the candidate to be elected is a seed to be planted with the 'hope' of a positive harvest, then what is the role of the farmer, the quality of the ground and the atmosphere to nourish it. Any one of these factors not working to deliver positive results will lead to the failure of the harvest. So as Nigerians have overwhelmed themselves with seed selection, few are indeed asking themselves, 'is the farm ready'. Are Nigerians ready to play their part and do what it takes to make democracy work for our collective good. Is Nigeria a viable ground on which candidate x,y,z will succeed. That is my concern. I said in 2015, on this forum that without restructuring the best news out of this government will be a few rail lines, bridges and roads. Is that all Nigeria hoped for.... but here we go again. Majority of us just do not understand democracy and how to make it work for our good. I have sat back and watched the market haggle for weeks now and it appears nothing has fundamentally changed to give me hope that this country has turned the corner and it can freely move forward in any tangible way. |

MrColdsweat:Crazy decision. Ethnicity kills everything. |
Oga El-Rufai. Your legacy is totally damaged. All that is left is to sift through the rubble to pick the bodies and bones of regret. |
Olam09:Instead of enhancing your payment system.... such indolence. Meanwhile your market share has gone to your more innovative competitors. |
