In a working system the incessant personal inquest around this man's past should dissuade potential candidates with dodgy backgrounds from contesting for political public office leading to good quality aspirants in the future. But we cannot reap from such where institutions are weak and ineffectual and those with proven cases to answer slip through the wide cracks of impunity. As such is is pointless to continue hounding this man on account of unproven assertions our institutions simply cannot handle. Society should put the horse before the cart and reform institutions instead. |
He has 48 months to repair the nation, 48 months, period. Too short a time to turn the ship of state around particularly when the crew of the former captain are still very much around, the very crew that ran her aground. That is why democracy in all its dynamism requires that when governments fail they are changed, not repaired. New governments are not under obligations to people, policies and programs inherited so change comes much more rapidly and assuredly. This new government will be one of compromises all the way. |
blackpanda:Na so. Because past administrations cannot be blamed again. |
Fantastic precedent. I hope no President in future gives any cognizance to ethno-religious chess. Enough is enough. For the coming administration all the service chiefs may as well come from Isale-eko..... provided they can catch the mouse. |
The way Nigeria is exposed to foreign creditors you just wonder if our President will be barred from the Villa one of these days..... just thinking. Credit is not all good. It has real downsides no matter how well intended. Honour for one is the first to go. |
Gosh..... just 3 months. Genuine Weight Loss Program.... not all these scams peddled all over the place.... ![]() Tourism potentials loading.....080-ring-a-bandit. Where is Discovery Channel when you need them. |
Zico5:We heard this and much more in 2015. Guess you fellows haven't learnt anything from the school of democratic hard knocks. That promises count for nothing and that hope is not a strategy. But what makes for a successful democratic experience is the rigid, incessant advocacy by the people for good governance fueled by solid political opposition. But I guess the present quest by the ruling party to proceed in autocracy will just end that. It doesn't take a genius to tell what Nigeria will look like by 2027. Is anyone still chanting Sai Baba...... ?? I guess not. |
This is the 'personalisation' of government we have all been talking about. So one can just imagine what was happening in areas where Mr. Amaechi controlled himself. But i guess this is just the prologue in the many stories that will flow out of the administration in the weeks and months following its end by May 29th. Happy readings. P.S. The DSS had better open a post traumatic disorder desk for outgoing honchos. |
Fearyourcreator:Am I jumping up and down. I am fully at rest my friend. I don't bother my self with Nigeria. I don't vote or have any reason to. I don't depend on your government for anything whatsoever and my economy is fully insulated from Nigeria's. So who rules Nigeria has little effect on me. But my eyes are wide open and my brain is intact to know this country is not getting better and the reasons for it's decline are clear and I have stated clearly why for the past twenty plus years. You'd think someone who sees things properly and understands things clearly will not have insulated himself from all the mess..... |
There is simply no country in the world with the combination of this level of poverty, inflation, unemployment and its citizens still returns the causatives back to power. That is significant. |
Awful. Graphics similar to the Roman city of Pompeii buried under the boiling ash of Mt. Vesuvius. |
MT:Exactly. Game management second half was poor. The way the first half ended it was clear how the second half will run. The league title is no longer in their hands. |
Arsenal has lost the league. They have tried to get this far but it is clear they are yet to have the legs for it. |
Van Dyke wants to crucify Jesus on Easter day..... haba.... ![]() |
Brendaniel:But how does the average Nigerian do all these 'lofty' ideals you stated above when he is no where in the food chain of democracy in Nigeria. It is okay to think wishfully to satisfy one's angst once in a while but the reality of Nigeria is that whatever the so called leaders want, no matter how ridiculous WILL BE DONE at the end of the day. This is not a Peoples led democracy. It is a feudalism fed oligarchy, where the so called citizens are peons in reality who subject themselves to 'revering' their leaders as lords. The democracy that works is one where citizens are top of the food chain and engage leaders from amongst themselves to lead, a first amongst equals relationship or for worse an employer, employee house of business. Then they consult you the citizen before taking action like a faithful servant they oddly claim to be (when soliciting your emotions to further enslave you). But Nigeria is a country full of all types of leaders, paid heavily by the citizens but not one of them has any respect whatsoever for the citizens. They take actions unilaterally, float policies to suit themselves, spend the resources of the country the way and manner they like and on things they alone see fit, no consultation , no debates and with scant regards for the effects on citizens short or long term. I have never seen such democracy in all the world except here. And it is all because 'the people' who are majority stakeholders in this franchise are weak, divided and ignorant. And like the Holy Book says in Galatians 4:1 by which I infer; 'as long as the average citizen thinks and acts like a child his democratic experiences will not differ from that of a slave, although he is the owner of the country indeed ....' So Nigerians must 'grow up' or continue to suffer. And if this forum is a snapshot of what the country looks like at ground zero, then I'm afraid. |
successmatters:It doesn't matter to them. It is who wins elections that is important. Changing governments without progress in anything tangible. You will have expected that with almost blanket insecurity over Nigeria for almost the entire duration of this administration it cannot muster the mentality to franchise security to states by constitutional means in creating both State and Local police. Such a disastrous administration. |
Chelsea's case bears resemblance to Nigeria's.... changing coaches the way we change leaders in elections but with same results and no progress. But as long as the citizens will not change the way clubs cannot sack players then the merry-go round continues. Then the owners of the club just like the owners of Nigeria, terribly incompetent but will not let go. |
Lamanii22:In the African tradition the home belongs to the woman, it is her primary office and when the tasks multiply, to remain efficient, like any office assistance is needed. These days with the evolution of tradition (for better or worse) with more people born and living in cities the extended family system that offered secured assistance has broken down leading many to bring total 'strangers' into their homes and their lives. Unfortunately the administration of these 'helps' has not evolved from tradition. It is held in limbo. So you have a strange person in your home but treat the situation with the laxity of the trafitional extended family system. This is the cause of a lot of problems with so called domestics. People should raise their game and administer the helps to the degree of formality a corporate workforce operates. That is proper documentation, assessments and interviews. Well spelt out Terms and Conditions of service. Signed Agreements and all. So the woman of the house can assume the position of Manager and watch to see how everyone behaves appropriately. Many homes I know operate this way without problems. Get serious with serious people in a serious way and see results. |
wildernessVoice:And all these and more despite the multitude of elections and the plethora of tenants in the Villa. The country is Just stumbling around in circles, breaking one bad record after the other. No one is willing to accept or recognize the disease, the mental malaise causing her drunkenness. |
The long and short of all these bric bats is simple. If Nigeria has been getting it right with their views of the country and the paths they have chosen to follow why is this country not better than it is. Why has Nigeria not developed, simple. There is a way that seems right to most Nigerians, the way the majority has charted for this country. See where it has led us. The doctor should focus on that with clear introspection. By 2027 we will see whether it was another waste of time. Because we have heard all these and more time and again. |
lexy2014:They want to have their cake and eat it. They want to have their tribalism and nepotism and expect good governance. They see failure ahead and want to rope in everyone else as psychological insurance. If the opposition is to find solutions why not just vote in the so called opposition. Nigerians prove without any doubt election after election that we are incapable of ruling ourselves successfully. |
Everton reject kwa.... why not wait for Moyes who is about to be available.... ![]() |
I still cannot understand the basis of a democracy where a party wins an election after leaving the country worse than it met it. How can a people sit down to reward failure. It makes the contest worthless. It de-incentifies good governance. But anyway I have always known elections in Nigeria to have no basis for development. Nigerians by and large do not vote for the right reasons, so I do not participate in pointless activities. |
Noticed an aircraft making terrible howling noises overhead this morning but couldn't see it in the dense cloud cover. Wonder if it was this case. |
People are fast losing their humanity due to politics. First the dastardly assailants who know they are above the law and then the hapless citizens of all persuasions who feed the bears. |
Joe Gomez should be serving tea in the club house. Too poor for a team of this status. |
That's why they named him 'Kai'....a man to cause distress and unending pain... ![]() |
Who would ever imagine in the history of the Premiership that this will be a mid table tie at the business end of the season. |
lexy2014:Hmmm.....remove subsidies and increase taxes at the same time?? I hope they have enough soldiers, policemen and prison wardens to contain the fallout.... |
Ransomware:Well come to Abuja aka Contractor's Paradise and see where all the money has gone. The word recession doesn't exist in many quarters here. That the country is borrowing to survive is not for them, but for the peons on the outskirts. In the corridors of power they continue feasting like tomorrow doesn't matter. You will hear stories once their benefactor is out and a new set of devourers emerge. |
datola:Apt. |
Twelfth prem gaffer to get the chop. Tightest drop zone for ages. Clubs not smiling. |
