None of them are millionaires. None of them are celebrities. We don't know their tribes or the religions they adhere to. That is not what defines them. But the work they do may one day save humanity, not just themselves or their families.... long after they themselves have passed on. This is what living is all about. Now consider yourself, your tribe, your religion and your country and see just how poorly you live. Just occupying space and constituting a nuisance on earth. |

RenaissanceGuy:And Nigerians rightly decided to remove a poor performing government through the ballot which was progress in 2015. Now what will you call the attempt at voting back another poor performing one in 2023.... regression. There is no sane country where a party which has performed this badly can be voted back to power. It simply doesn't happen. It just means performance is no longer the basis of elections. There must be a basis of galvanizing good governance and this is by rewarding performance with power and punishing failure with change. If Nigerians are not bold or knowledgeable enough to change the APC then we have collectively instituted poor performance going forward and it will haunt this country for decades to come. It is time to establish standards by which we accept to be ruled as a people. |
fastseo:That is why the average PVC is a useless vehicle for moving Nigeria forward. Nigerians just do not have the mental capacity to lead themselves successfully. 24 years of 5th republic democracy, six general elections costing trillions of naira and all we can muster is underdevelopment and retrogression. |

Made his bed when he brought the institution into disrepute by dining with political devils. He could have saved himself by resigning a long while ago. |
Indeed. When you are just waking at sunset and realizing your legacy is long gone. So sorry Mr. President. You have been demystified. For me this is a season of reminisce and recollections.... of all that happened and what could have been.... when Nigerians were offered a choice to step out of the furnace.... but chose to add more coals to it. And here we go again. |
Aufbauh:'His best not good enough...' At least some of you have little integrity left in admitting what we repeatedly said in 2014 here on this forum. That apart from a few roads, bridges and rail lines nothing tangible will be achieved. But by 2023 everyone will be demystified. Today all the hailing has died down and nothing but ashes has presented as a legacy of this electoral mistake. One just wishes to roll back the hand of time if not to correct that error but to see my posts back then on the man, his mission and a mangled country called Nigeria he will be leaving in a few months time. What a loss. |
All the insults on the former Head of State just because he desires other sections of the country to feel a sense of belonging and have a pride of place in Nigeria by leading at the very top of government. Anyway one can say it is deserved for if they had an iota of vision all those decades ago and restructured this country such issues of sectionalism will not be important today. |
ahnie:It is called inflation my dear.... the thing citizens of other nations fear more than war.... and fight their leaders to avoid more than pandemics. Here we (s)elect tailors to perform surgery and clap when the handlers of the Central Bank dance na.ked in the market square of partisan politics. We deserve what we get to eat and if we are not careful that fish will either cost twice of what you paid by the end of 2023 or bio-economically metamorphose into a sardine. Most of us cannot relate our poor electoral decisions to our startling experiences. |
The illustrators could lend her some help by showing her at work not at leisure and with smiles over drinks. |
Wow, just wow. What is happening these days. Great men bowing out in droves.... rest well my man. Great player, incredible talent, lovely person. |
Tokskob2008:Weak institutions. When a people cannot make the sacrifices to build institutions this is the result. At some point the rule of law was compromised the the people were either complicit or ambivalent. |
Focusmind:This is not what credible and responsible citizenship should say particularly in a country like Nigeria where leadership qualities are severely lacking and at this time when the nation is in a debt crises. The leaders simply read into this and progress in error. For this country at this time we the people should be resisting collectively and absolutely so that leaders start to think outside the box on how to run the economy, so that they consider other ways and means and so that they reconsider the way they presently spend which is not entirely transparent and prudent. In other climes expenditure is watched at every instance and big budget projects (whether recurrent or capital) are thoroughly debated and vetted by parliament on behalf of the people before considerations are made to put the taxpayer under more burden. They don't just give their leaders and governments blank cheques to borrow wily-nily because they know the implications on inflation (which borrowing stokes) and thus the devaluation of assets, rising domestic interest rates, job losses and poverty. I think the more the citizens are burdened and impoverished, the more they will have to learn and educate themselves on how economies work and thus how to better direct government and select leadership that take these things with utmost seriousness. Till today and just weeks to a general election not a single candidate for the 2023 presidency has suggested not to talk of profered detailed solutions to our steaming macro economic challenges. It appears (like we always do) we will elect leadership that will come to 'learn on the job'. |
Any team that is not prepared to shoot from outside the box cannot prevail against City. All these side to side passes looking for a cut into the six yard box will never happen. Tiki-taka has killed the artistry of pure strikers. Everyone is looking for the sleek Hollywood pass into goal. |
This is what I said late last year that some ignoramus did not understand and wanted me to start an When you are borrowing so massively, practically 110 percent to fund your budget and then spending all that money on everything except productivity then inflation will simply destroy you. They say, well other countries borrow and other countries spend on 'infrastructure' during recessions aka spend out of recession (that even the Liberal Party in the UK is distancing itself from just today). But then in our case what are we borrowing to do that boosts the economy, that has created jobs or established local businesses and onshore industries..... none. For when the bulk of borrowings go to roads and bridges that have no direct returns on investments and rails and other things that are handled by foreign contractors who source materials, men and technologies almost 100 offshore then every advantage is practically lost. And then when government itself should be tightening its own belt, its takings, i.e the cost of running Nigeria through personnel costs, overheads and sundries is at record levels making every taxpayer a virtual slave to his neighbour who is a civil servant or politician. So why will inflation not cripple Nigeria and exacerbate poverty, corruption and crime going forward. Nigeria is in a mess. And when we say restructure so that average brains can cope with leadership challenges, the owners of Nigeria say no. Okay, let the people elect superior leaders who maybe able to manage the tough system we have imposed on ourselves by qualitative intellect, they say no. So we are left with an unworkable system manned by incompetence as reflecting their desire. Nigeria today is the product of all this. We will learn by suffering, accelerated and aggravated suffering. This is sure. Nigerians will be forced do what they have never imagined themselves doing this year. I just pity the unprepared. |
Normal thing. In the days of yore they will have settled the matter by some good old jousting.... or better still doned their whites and fenced to the death. They invented at that crap for these kinds of matters. Their ancestors will be turning in their graves as to how soft they have become.... scratches on backs only....hiss.... |
I see. Good morning to Nigerians. One day we will all wake up and stop chasing after our individual pet oppressors we call leaders and start talking to each other round the table called restructuring. Only then will we be able to rise to chart a course we desire..,but until then may the sufferings expand, deepen and intensify till our goose is cooked. |
MasterTeeUSA:Oil is an international commodity and Burundi can buy their products from anywhere. There is nothing special about Nigeria's oil and even when we start refining we are unlikely going to produce derivatives at competitive prices because the cost of producing crude in Nigeria is amongst the highest in the world. If we are not going to give them products at some sort of discount or subsidy then there is nothing for them to see us about. What I suspect is that they have smelt our artificially low prices and want in, simple. Burundi is a terribly poor country that may be struggling to buy internationally. |
Why not just show them where we are buying our own in Holland.... abi they want to subsidise Burundi's petrol too... |
Eddie Howe came with a plan and exposed a bit of juvenile delinquency in Arsenal and in Arteta who couldn't read the game and couldn't respond. Newcastle is becoming the real deal. Defences indeed do win trophies. |
rinzylee:Martinelli has not made a single successful run behind the Newcastle defence because of Zinchenko's slack play. Saka has fared slightly better because Ben White is a lot bolder in causing a better overload on the right. |
Not a single Arsenal player has played anywhere near his game today. The Newcastle tactic is absolutely functional so far. |
Newcastle has succeeded in degrading Arsenal's play with anti-football tactics. |
Zinchenko is seriously undermining Arsenal's attacking play. Slow, indecisive and lacking creativity. Kieran Tierney is a lot better for this kind of game. |
Nukilia:Does he hold any political appointment? He has done his time as governor and should retire to a quiet life but no, they are busy spinning webs of oppressive feudal rule so they become victims of their own callousness. |
Liverpool looking tired.... no vim, no vigour and the legendary defense is all at sea..... top four....? hmmm.. |
