Tareq1105:Most certainly. Any institution that doesn't operate on the principles of the founder cannot endure. What marriage is built on defines how it runs and how long it operates. |
Supplementary budget for farewell gifts to contractors. |
sweetTai:Na waoh. I don't understand. Perhaps you have seen the man advertise the incident on CNN or print it on a big banner in front of MMIA. He laid a complaint, one complaint, on this media, that is targeted and used mainly by Nigerians about an incident that happened to him at a Nigerian airport. Where is the 'dragging' and where does 'other countries' feature in this. Abeg, if "Nairaland" is mainstream media in America or China as you insinuate then let me get busy. As A Nigerian I don't go snooping on American or Chinese blogs and fora to see how many bags are stolen at one airport or the other and I don't think the citizens of those countries know Nigeria enough to care. Like many have alluded to here. It happens everywhere, so why should a complaint here become 'anti Nigeria'. Don't folks over there complain on their various media? We have a serious problem of accountability in this country and the genesis of the problem is a docile people that pay for goods and services they are not satisfied with, vote for leaders they cannot control and just lie down with misery unto 'death'. How will the services in MMIA improve if people do not talk about it. How will Nigeria improve if people do not stand up and speak out. |
sweetTai:Really, so what is the better way out.... to keep silent while crime thrives.....or to send private warning messages amongst ourselves.... in order to 'protect Nigeria's image'..... And what makes you think citizens of other nations do not complain about problems they have.... after all how did you know these things happened there as well.... Funny man. |
Sad, sad scenario we have here where the people are debating who is less of a villain to lead them..... just gob smacked I am.... honestly. A nation of citizens who are frantically digging to bury their destinies instead of collectively climbing out of the pit by totally rejecting the desire to have criminals rule over them. Without restructuring it is impossible to have qualitative leadership in charge of this country. Since 1999 it has always been Hobson's Choice in leadership, a choice between worse and worst at the polls. We must admit that we are all responsible for the mess we have found ourselves in this country. These failures we keep on installing in government will never prosper this country because they are all morally compromised and subject to blackmail by the forces of retrogression. |
Chirowman:Believe me there are a lot more foods on this list. Just say these two attract your attention, mine are up to a dozen, both plant and animal based food(stuffs), that I can't stand in preparation and serving no matter how they are presented. In Africa we remain puritans when it comes to cuisine. The bulk of things we eat here have rudimentary additives, mainly tailored towards taste. We have not exploited the broad spectrum of fruits, vegetables, oils and spices that are out there that make a serious difference in the way our food looks, tastes and smells. |
fluffybaby:Absolutely. And I myself find some repugnant to say the least. Its one of those clashes of cultures globalization has kicked up. The solution is to project our offerings into mainstream restaurant to gain the popularity Indian cuisine and other cultures have done in recent years. |
sunboy:But your current President a few weeks ago blamed the states for aggravating poverty.... according to him, 'by usurping the resources of the local governments, etc'.... and you all cheered despite the fact that macro economics is the foundation of wealth and poverty in any society.... The problem with you folks is that in running after individuals, blind support often causes double speak. Now you are all cheering this... without asking for the details of how he is going to 'end poverty'.... It is only kindergarten citizens that get excited by such 'pie in the sky'.... promised by staunch supporters of the status quo... |
A people that cannot relate their poor electoral choices with their hard life deserve no pity. Vote for continuity please. The school of hard knocks remains eternally in session. |
It is not his place to take such definitive positions on political matters particularly on the eve of elections and the language is rather harsh. But the truth I consistently espouse is similar. In 2015 after 16 years of PDP rule Nigerians finally woke up and decided to change a serially non performing government due to the terrible suffering in the land. In 2023 after 8 years it appears even worse, why on earth should this country continue with this party.... and what will be the damning consequences for the institution of democracy if failure is rewarded, and certainly prolonged when it is clear that only the head will change leaving the body of appointees exactly the same. We collectively wish to build institutions but are enamored to individuals who are not willing to make sacrifices like their counterparts abroad in building great nations. |
plaindealer:If that is how you run your business, good luck to you. You don't know how to run it before concluding a loan for it..... very wise. Only in Africa are carts pulling horses. Look at all the white elephants across Nigeria from Ajaokuta to monorail in Portharcourt, from moribund refineries to dilapidating roads, from sewers in Abuja to malfunctioning airports. They will say Nigerians have a poor maintenance culture but they don't know what causes this culture which is next to zero program planning. They will say just put it there and it will take care of itself. The Kaduna state governor was once Minister in Abuja. Where are his buses today.... and why do they not exist. No plans for long term sustainability that will establish proper management, turning over a profit to keep the system going. If he took a loan for that scheme I hope it has been repaid. Critical thinking is lacking in this parts because of folks like you who cannot question things but just pander to sentiment. But what is my business. I neither live in Kaduna or will likely join you in repaying those loans one way or the other. If you like do not question how it will be run. Once the loan is taken the borrowers cares not if you have a management on ground to operate it successfully. He wants his money back with interest, period. You obviously have not learnt from what is happening in Nigeria and cannot relate the price of Christmas rice to the mindless loans this government has been taking these past years with zero accountability and invisible productivity. If your governor is wise he had better sort out the bolts and nuts of making that thing a viable business before touching that money. |
You see the problem with Nigeria. Was a great read until I got to the point where it says '...but we have been unable to get (an interested party) to operate it. Which means the people are not interested in the project. Which means the government is forcing it on them, which means it is a white elephant destined to be an albatross on the back of government for years to come. This is not how nations develop. There is no synergy between leaders and the led. We should understand that Government exists to organise society, period. Government is the sum of all the aspirations of the people it serves. In this case the rail and BRT for which this loan is taken will have come about by exhaustive interaction, deliberations and advocacy between the people and government perhaps over several years by which plans and programs will have evolved, in a scenario whereby government will have said, 'we don't have the means, etc' and the people will have ended up with a plan to fund it by loan with another plan to repay by commercializing it. Such that ownership, management, financial plans, even ticketing prices will all have been agreed by government and the people, a solid feasibility study before any action us taken. Only then can the development by a success. But in Nigeria, Africa, attention to details, consultancy, consultation, plans, procedures and the ability to build values into a society is severely lacking making leadership so tempestuous. We really need to raise our game. How can you conclude on a public works project of such importance with the primary components of it's success completely left out. If you already have the name of the 'gbese provider' and you don't have the name of the 'gbese repayer', is that not trouble you are looking for. Who takes a loan without a name by which it is to be paid or a plan by which it is to be serviced... If the people who are the owners of government are not front and center of this development, how will it transit government when the title holders are out of power. |
You should not have agreed to the sponsorship of your education and his so called friendship/relationship in the first place. Both you, him and your parents knew once you go down the route of white slavery, it seldom ends well. The question is, can you reverse all that. I will not even go into the technicalities of the fact that kids cannot possibly sponsor themselves to school. Of course he had to be older to do that. You invariably got married to your foster dad. This is the vicious cycle of poverty we often speak about and the friction it generated to destroy individuals, families and whole societies. To move an individual, a family, a society or a nation up and out and forward, sacrifice needs to be made at some point which needs to be reciprocated if the system is to persist. It is your turn to reciprocate. |
The groom looking so unkempt. If you must keep a beard, keep it. |
Falseprofet2:It was started long before he came to office. Constantly abandoned. |
Can you imagine this kind of rubbish. So the State Assembly doesn't even know. Then who was approving the loans. I just don't understand the kind of democracy we practice in this country bit one thing is certain, it is not working....at least working to benefit the people... and that is whether they deserve it or not. Now the police will be asking the theif to furnish him with the records of what he stole.... just sickening. |
November1857:The black man is mentally incapable of leading himself successfully and organising himself into a viable society. We must of necessity be led against our natural but abnormal instincts to do what is right by the nose ring like cattle. |
BAZ001:Kanu seems to have completely disappeared from the media space. Hope he is okay. |
Right from.the Garden of Eden the Missus have not been satisfied with practically anything. |
This is the fault of the people that elect so called leaders and then pamper them ignorantly instead of demanding for open government and accountability. In other climes there are no surprises because the Republicans know the state of the economy presently led by the Democrats, the Labour party in opposition knows exactly how the Conservative party is handling the economy to the last penny. Here it is all about tribe and religion, useless sentiments that cannot guarantee good governance or any iota of return on any democratic dividend. This is the result. The people of Osun will continue to suffer until they take the reins of Government and decide what happens. How can a single individual take such a huge loan on your behalf and you are not even aware of it. Where does this kind of thing happen except in a Banana republic with toddlers masquerading as legitimate citizens. |
Glad Morocco is out. Horrible fans with terrible behaviour. It's a World Cup game for heavens sake not a quest for a migraine and psychotic breakdown with mindless whistling and jeering. Gosh, North Africans.... |
You just do not know what constitutes a crime anymore in Nigeria under this administration. Time and again you just hear befuddlling news that leaves the last episode in the dust of infamy. Gosh. |
DoxxAnon:Unserious people will continue to be led by unserious leaders. Perhaps we need to borrow the 7 million citizens of Hongkong for 6 months to help straighten out our leaders....or even the 21 million determined citizens of Egypt who don't discriminate between military juntas or civilian despots, they drive them properly, constantly demand for qualitative leadership and it shows in their lives. |
Sorry arse.d folks. Who exactly are 'the people' talking.... about this....certainly not legitimate citizens of this country who have been under the cosh for nearly a decade. Will their counterparts in the UK., the average citizens in those climes care about what Rishi Sunak delivers or how he struts into 10 Downing.... or how long and sexy Kamala Harris' legs are.... We take far too many liberties with our lives in this country as citizens and cheapen ourselves before the people we toil to employ to run our affairs. How will they take us and their responsibilities seriously when our expectations are comically low. Will any serious citizen engage any form of human service and all he values is the way the person is dressed, posses and struts.... like seriously, when he is in real trouble and is in need of....EVERYTHING.... Just fed up with this country. What is the point of elections and all the noise over the past couple of months if this is all we expect of the people we struggle, fight and even die to put in office. It is just ridiculous that when all the indices of a decent life in Nigeria has worsened under this government people are not holding the feet of these so called leaders over hot coals calling them out day after day as to their failed promises if not for anything, to send a signal to whoever is coming in next year that the people are serious about their expectations and will not admit any excuses. |
The question is too rudimentary.... from what speed and to what speed for starters. But you will imagine that the brakes are for slowing down, so... |
I have said it times without number. That without restructuring it is impossible to save this country. Is this not the regime that came to being on the back of an outcry against corruption. What is really happening. So ugly. |
Now we understand why the saying, 'Great attacks win matches but great defences win trophies. When we finally sorted out our defence with the return of Stephen Keshi to the Eagles and the emergence of our own Virgil Van Dyke in the mould of Okey Okechukwu, Nigeria rose to become the 5th best team in the world, the highest ever rating by an African team. Today our defenders are a reflection of our soccer fortunes. |
bayelsaowei:There will be massive taxation in 2023 to make up. Expect all manner of levies similar to what is happening in Lagos particularly if the APC wins, including a revisiting of the VAT rates. Things will be excruciatingly expensive next year. Strap in tightly. |
bjtinz:Oga sit down. How can you borrow to build or repair roads when these are depreciating assets. Before you have started repaying the principal the roads have gone bad again locking you permanently in a vicious cycle of debts. What makes for roads. Bitumen which we have naturally and other earth materials, cement which we produce locally. Only steel products which we have refused to establish locally is a challenge, so why do we need to take foreign loans to build roads and bridges when almost all the cost is local. Can you see that a lot of these loans are frivolous and just a means of propping up some individuals and companies in this contractors paradise. |
Collinsaik:Better stop that and save your life. If you must cycle look for a park nearby, never on the streets. |
Bonaventura:Not just an extreme sport, but an extremely careless undertaking. Jogging, cycling in the streets of any city in Nigeria is beyond risky. And I'm certain it happened over the weekend when intoxication is highest. Can't do that. Any exercise or recreation that cannot be done within the four walls of a room, house, facility or park is a certain dance with disaster. |
MasterTeeUSA:Stop what hate. On what basis is that. I have no stake in Nigerian politics. I don't have a PVC and have never voted anyone and I don't care who wins or loses in the coming elections because it will not change Nigeria fundamentally for good as I have explained several times on this forum. So you stakeholders may choose to close your eyes to the truth or pretend not to know what happened or how things work but the results to Nigeria over the past 23 years of democracy and 6 general elections is clear, a country on the brink, a people regressing, so what are you celebrating in your so called leaders and what excitement do you have in defending them if not for sentiment. And if there is any hate it is for a system that perpetuates itself by willingly enticing your type to keep it going. The man got rich just like every other politician out there by peddling influence. Take it or leave it, admit it or deny it, the results are clear for all to see. |
