Everyone knows he got this rich by peddling influence. Lagos is not his fiefdom for nothing. That ship has sailed. The question to Nigeria now is, how to stop that cancer spreading to the rest of Nigeria since the institutions necessary to check this are weak and ever willing accomplices in the feudalistic democracy we practice here. |
You guys played too conservative, not willing to take risks and without risks you cannot prevail. |
See how they are all yapping... folks that cannot relate their actions with their experiences. Your fellow citizens elect governments to solve problems and make their lives better. To most Nigerians their living conditions are secondary to their sentiments, so they have it. When your government was busy borrowing to satisfy contractors at the expense of the real economy you didn't think the chickens will roost sooner than later. Well, it is here. Nigeria is awash with unproductive cash, that is why. |
Samantha123:When doctors are fleeing Nigeria like rats off a sinking ship what do you expect. It is only an ignorant citizenry that will not relate the quality of their lives to the maladministration of their country by wrong decisions in (s)electing their leaders. Elections do have serious consequences. More people will die and become invalids if poor judgement persists. |
So it is the DSS that has indirectly ended subsidy by their actions.... interesting. Now will they be available to put down any blow-back by the public and unions in the new year when revolts begin to arise. |
OddsDoc:And what are the elements of the ratings, the criteria by which you have decided, madam. Once again DETAILS are absent and the lack of details on practically every matter concerning our existence as a nation, as a people and as a polity has been the bane of our democracy. The media is crudely satisfied with soundbites to stoke emotions and cause indolent arguments which the hapless citizens who do not know better and thus cannot demand better are satisfied with in wallowing in ignorance. I have not heard any candidate address any specific issue with detailed solutions and I repeat I cannot understand how people who claim to be brilliant will have decided who to vote for at this stage. To me, all of them have given nothing and deserve no vote whatsoever. For example if you are a college student or the sponsor of one, WHAT IS THE ASUU SOLUTION. Which of them has come up with a detailed final workable solution that makes your vote for him worth the risk... ..and this is just one of over thirty specific challenges of a very serious nature Nigeria faces in the coming months and years to which NONE of them has addressed thoughtless of proferred solutions. They all want to be voted in first then start with excuses before leaving a bigger mess when their time is over. Nonsensical, malfunctioning so called democracy. |
Kane should not have taken it. The pressure was too much. |
How long will Arsenal be able to hang onto Saka. The lad is becoming a big game player. Just has to work on his right foot. |
No wonder there was a lot of highway noise this morning. |
The whistling by these Moroccan fans when Portugal is in possession is just awful and a terrible earsore. Gosh. |
Penalties. LIkely Croatia win. They played for this and got it. |
But Modric at 37 playing well into extra time is just impressive. |
CEOKmotors:Thank goodness. |
Brazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzziiiiiiillllllllll...................my goodness... what a goal...... ![]() |
Wow. Pele is dead.... Is this true.? |
If it reaches penalties Brazil is out. That is the psychology. Underdogs almost always win sudden death when they manage to survive. |
Brazil has played poorly today. Despite Croatia's quality the decision making in the last third has been terrible. This game has slipped away. |
Lucas Paqueta is too lightweight in that midfield. With Casemeiro behind he should not have any problems taking risks and expressing himself but the lad is only passing sideways. He gives nothing extra, nothing creative. |
It was not just a bad deal for America. America can secure its territory and citizens anywhere in the world. The biggest losers here are weak nations tottering on the brink of state failure where there are more than enough non state actors to arm. Certainly Africa fits this description and this man has done a lot of havoc on this continent. I think African countries in particular should place a contract on him and take him out at the nearest opportunity he steps out of Russia. |
BluntTheApostle:Please can you just read. I said break the cycle. Corruption cannot be removed from Nigeria without restructuring of the state which most are not ready for. Restructuring involves changing the system entirely which has not gone down well with the advocates of the status quo. So the only possibility is to leash corruption by changing the players that have access to power, to goverment at every electoral milestone since the institutions are not able to handle them. What you should wake up to is the fact that institutions are not government. Institutions are the regulators of government and if govermnet is too strong for institutions to handle then national survival is only possible by changing governments frequently. If the Jonathan government was still in power today the corruption issue will have become horrendous by now. 2015 slowed it down for a while. Now that it is back in full force there is a need to remove the government yet again. Failure to do that and by 2027 what we hear today will be child's play. Better wake up to the reality of your country before the fallout of corruption which includes insecurity completely engulfs Nigeria. |
When the scheme was being criticized as a cesspool of corruption fans of the regime will not agree. What do they have to say now. By the time the searchlight is beamed on the other programs such as the school feeding, etc, there will surely be blood on the floor. That is why we need to change governments as the only guarantee for a break in the corruption cycle at every oppprtuned time since our institutions are not strong enough. With all this who should be talking about continuity since it is clear the same folks will be back to continue the corruption. |
tctrills:America can secure itself from people like Bout. But for the rest of the world particularly countries tottering on the brink of state failure, they will provide fertile business opportunities for this 'Merchant of Death's. Niger Delta militants and northern based bandits awash with kidnapping cash will be falling over themselves to get his contact. |
boluwatife122:No nation in the third world will be happy about this. The carnage this man has caused. Totally unacceptable exchange. |
Too high a price. Very unbalanced exchange. Now expect more AK's flooding into Africa for starters. |
DaddyFreeze2020:Well, CNN and Fox are fiercely politically dipolar. And both claim to be the best. So there you have it. It's everywhere and perhaps it's necessary for depth. |
MoneySEASON:I don't get this 'pride of Africa's' thing when it comes to the successes or otherwise of other national teams of the continent at the global stage. To me it smacks of a negative complex. You won't see Spain for instance celebrating Holland if they make the semi's or Uruguay celebrating Argentina if it wins the Cup or even China taking pride in what Japan or Korea did. What will make me celebrate Morocco in the first place.... I just don't get it. That you are let down because they chose to identify with their ancestral race rather than their geographical location should trigger a patriotic alarm in you. For me if Nigeria is not doing the business I am totally neutral. Cannot be a racist. |
faithfull18:Don't worry. Just take the heavenly trains and when you drop at the station the potatoes will have multiplied..... ... since that is what you voted this government for. |
Yes. Everyone will love to praise a country where the law is upheld..... then return to their pet dictators in a minute. |
Bahamas95:C'mon man the Indians started the stuff more than 4,000 years ago and it has been a staple at circuses and exhibitions since modern times began. Every profession has its risks. Just a bad day at the office.... ![]() |
Burruchaga71:Well, for the first time in the political history of Nigeria we will be experimenting to see if the blood of religion is thicker than the blood of ethnicity. I have said it times without number. That without restructuring we will have endless crises. This country is too complicated not to have a working agreement as to how we plan to exist. |
The fear of religious dominance is real. The fact is, the foundations for a same faith ticket had not been laid during the past 7 years and it is difficult to see how to build a viable government over this. If the APC had this foresight I am certain many things will have been done differently since 2015. |
xevove2061:Well Germany's longest serving Prime Minister was a woman and she did very well, exceptionally well. |
