Judybash93:Nigeria does not have a tradition of quality soccer goalkeepers. However her performance yesterday was much improved over the first match. She made some match winning saves. |
Watched the match. Good contest. The goalie was more composed than in the first match. And the right wingback, can't remember her name now is my personal favourite player. Just clears any ball that comes down that tunnel.... ![]() |
They barely survived the match, Awoniyi's goal was just... lucky. If they continue like this they will stand no chance whatsoever of staying up, sentiments apart. I seriously fear for the huge amounts gambled on new players. On the other hand I watched Sadiq Umar for his outgoing club Almeria yesterday and the guy was fantastic. Tormented Real's squad defence until he tired in the second half. |
rusher14:So what is your solution, or your principal's solution to fund education in Nigeria with a galloping population growth. Because I do not know of any Nigerian, of any economic status that is not paying more year after year for education at all levels. Even if fees and tuition are zero naira, books?, laboratory reagents?, presentation projectors?... Please be real. The economy dictates everything. A poor economy will send children out of school one way or the other. |
rusher14:I think you should ask the Federal government if indeed education is for the poor. Because they don't seem to be able to afford to fund it. And someone has to pay for it. I think the proper phrase should be; Education is for the poor, quality education is not. So if we want quality education we should either lift people out of poverty or improve the economy. This isn't rocket science. Whoever wins the Presidency will face this problem so be careful what you all wish for. So it is not just winning for winning sake, but winning to face serious problems brought about by an unproductive nation caused by a bad, unworkable structure. If any candidate thinks he can win and then carry on running Nigeria the way it is then he should be prepared for stress. And no one should come back later telling us the rest of Nigeria HATES them for bla, bla, bla reason. |
Yuck, the thing looks gross. We have no regards for presentation in this country. You pay a lot of money, the least you should expect is value.... in quality and presentation. But I guess Nigerians generally do not know this and do not care. That is why we find it very hard to compete internationally to push, exports, and to pull, tourism. |
strangest:Such never happens in a proper, working democracy. The performance over the last 7 years should be a landslide for opposition parties. If the APC cannot get the red card next year and be suspended from governance for the next four years then democracy is not working.... at least as an instrument of development in/for Nigeria. Since elections have consequences on the fortunes of a citizenry, poor governance should have consequences on those trusted with power. It goes both ways. |
You have a lung infection and go to the very country that is a global leader in exporting respiratory diseases...?? ![]() |
Winningbot:He didn't see it. |
Gwan2:Not the referee's fault. He didn't see it. It was VAR that called a pause to investigate and they cleared it. The referee doesn't have the luxury of instant slow-mo replay so cut them some slack. |
Conte and Tuchel should just square up in an octagon abeg.... ![]() |
The US should take it easy abeg. The world is already too destabilised for poorly run, poorly governed nations like Nigeria whose leaders will find ready excuses to sign up more people into poverty. I seriously expect that Mr. Lai Mohammed and his 'Goebblers' to have penned Taiwan and the Chinese brouhaha in their royal book of excuses. |
Nothing new here. Old news made into a pudding. |
Judolisco:Funny... ![]() |
Princebizzie:Oga, don't hide under that. Everyone abuses the other tribe, every tribe in Nigeria has damaged the fabric of society through all works of endeavour including politics. They say because of Ipob the East cannot be trusted but the north can inspite of a 20 year old insurgency.... and so on. That is the problem, injustice, simple. And no nation can progress with it. Nigeria is a classic case of a typical head-on Mexican traffic standoff where two opposing vehicles block each other way with a claim to rights. No one progresses. We are a nation bogged down by our lack of wisdom that sentiment has festered. |
badlaw:This is a classic example of what I say. Good annotation. But the reality is that this demographic represents almost all Nigeria or at least those who decide elections in this country. And as a matter of fact as the election draws nearer and the heat of non-issue based politics rages and the polarising vitriol escalates even those who thought they were principled will be forced to jettison their positions and subscribe to one of the 15 slots above. The structure of Nigeria today cannot permit leadership to be empowered via the ballot outside this equation. |
This is why we say that until Nigeria is restructured the average PVC is useless as an instrument for development in this democracy. Because the average Nigerian will not and cannot vote on issues other than religion, tribe and section, simple. And it takes a universal agreement on what values are for the ideologies that drive development to take root. Whether we admit it or not, the President of this country will be elected on who can sell his sentiment best and who can inflict the most sentimental damage to his opponent, not who can deliver performance. And that is why Nigeria continues to experience decline year on year, election after election and administration after administration. |
Sentiment should be set aside and Maguire, captain or not should be benched. He is just not good enough and this situation has been there since he joined the club. I have not seen him have two consecutive decent performances. And we all know that it is defences that win titles and trophies..... and bad defences guarantee failure and eventually relegation. No matter how good your forwards are, if you continue to leak scandalous goals, even the most ardent striker will be discouraged. United's shambolic defending is sapping the morale of that team. |
'United played two, lost two and humiliated too'.... classic British commentary.... ![]() |
Perhaps they should have waited for Pochettino. He appears to know the Premiership well, knows this United players a bit and appears to be a disciplinarian of sorts. Ten Haag comes across as soft.... not certain though. |
Lajiniran:How old is this man that as you claim there were no schools, even the most rudimentary ones at that. Subtract his age from this year and do a demographics of the area he grew up in and find out whether there were educational institutions then and there. We all have relations and know people of Mr Tinubu's age range and background and to say there were no formal educational opportunities during his childhood really questions exactly how old he truly is. |
Here we go again... |
Sleekfingers:Instead of campaigning for tolerance you are further stoking division. How do you hope to win if people literally act on your words. |
The APC really goofed on this same religion ticket. It will steal a lot of campaign traction going forward and distract from a message already blighted by a poor, poor regime of Mr. Buhari. I repeat again. The core north should have made the sacrifice having enjoyed 8 years in power to ceede power to religious minorities amongst them. The circle of the assertion that they cannot support a Christian northerner has opened a huge Pandora's box and ignited a firestorm of religious bigotry leaving the party struggling to convince Christians to make the sacrifices instead. How the party squares this is left to be seen. |
henryobinna:I think the solution is for Labour party adherents to equally plan to take seats in the National Assembly with the same vigour as they plan to take the Presidency. If you have the big bucks to buy an expensive, exotic, high performance Lamborghini or a Super Tucano and hope to ride it successfully in Nigeria you necessarily have to buy a few spare parts to support and ensure it works for a while because you will have no local support. A President with exotic appeal and superior qualities WILL REQUIRE technical, Legislative support to prevail and last. Few people realize the kind of battles it will take to turn the ship of state around. It will not be easy. Obi himself said winning the elections is just the beginning and I think Nigerians need to check their expectations with the reality that 'Supermanship' is fantasy. The reality is away from a personalisation of government and the need to get him spare parts in the form of electing Senators and Reps Members as well. If you are an ardent supporter your target in 2023 should also be replacing your immediate representatives. And this is what both the leadership and followership of the LP is not addressing yet. |
Ha. It is not a matter of majority, the LP has no representation in the House. In a working democracy (and the emphasis is WORKING), you will not be able to pass the kind of legislation that will make a difference and drive the kind of reforms I know you desire. One of three things will have to happen for you to govern 'successfully', none of which are desirable. You either go over their heads like an autocrat, ruling by executive orders and intimidating the Legislature.... rule by compromise, bribery and other inducements (like in the OBJ era).... or simply hope that a gale of defection hits the established parties with the consequence of watering down your ideologies and losing control of your party down the line, i.e after a few years we begin to hear the normal, 'there is no difference between the...' There are no easy answers and it is a classic case of the Devil's Alternative. There is simply no easy way to transform Nigeria without Nigerians ready and able to make the sacrifice ls to. |
VERDA:If it is rotational then it should be the turn of the south-east, north-east or north-central. Are we ready for that? |
Simple rallying call: 'back to your tents oh...'. Nigerians will live and die on their sentiment. Cannot see Nigeria moving forward without restructuring. A restructuring that will attend to the fears of the 'north' that they potentially have a worth off the stage and in the audience once a while. For what is great art without the eyes to see it, the ears to hear it and the heart to appreciate it. |
colorsofrainbow:You can see what citizens are busy about, mundane things.... honestly we are not ready. The people if this country have not suffered enough to identify what matters. Not ready to discuss issues. Politicians are more prepared to destroy Nigeria than you lot are ready to escape the destruction. Continue arguing semantics una hear... |
Rawtruth1:You are the exact representation of the problem of Nigeria. A cowardly citizen that cannot stand up for what is right and just. What do you mean it is never done like that in the civilized world? And you go further to threaten retribution against society. Better free your mind from the chains of mental slavery. America, the poster child fir modern development has a similar policing problem in the early 20th century with organised crime virtually running it until the people got totally fed up and out their politicians under huge pressure to clean up. Today every police department in the US has an 'Internal Affairs' unit whose job it is to investigate every infraction. They don't wait to be embarrassed on social media before they act. Every Governor and Mayor lives and dies politically on the performance of law enforcement. That is the power of citizen advocacy so don't threaten us with retribution I for desiring police fidelity. PS: As a matter of fact this is the apt time the 'endSARS' movement should engage the leading presidential candidates to shape the police we wish to see post 2023 and support the candidate that offers the best vision for a modern police service. They need the votes, we need the reforms, simple. This is what intelligent citizenry is all about, a power trade. Not when they are elected you start making demands after the corrupt elements in the police have visited them with fat envelopes then you start hearing excuses why police can never change. |
abimic:Rivers unlike Delta is a cosmopolitan state just like Lagos so you don't expect any party to be dominant in Federal elections as people generally tend to vote along sectional lines. |
Signs of good things to come. That quality technocrats may be front and centre of his government. |
