There is no argument about this. We all saw what happened in the Super Cup. Big time player led by a big time coach delivers on the biggest stage. |
Lovely architectural masterpiece. That is what you get when it is not Julius Berger building everything. |
The governor should demand for Lagos spec.... one which can float in flood and have paddles and lifejacket as standard accessories.... ![]() |
Inosky:Wike's interests can only be served if the PDP wins. That is why he is fighting hard to gain traction before the party ends and all the power positions filled. If the APC or LP wins there is no guarantee of anything. |
Wike wants a shot at the Presidency, that is his ultimate ambition and he is closer to that with the PDP if he can wrangle the party structure from the 'owners' and somehow arm twist Atiku into serving just one term. Apart from the Muslim ticket. The APC's next venture at the very top will go to the north after Tinubu's tenure so there is nothing for him to gain there. |
Patriotsleague:Na so. |
maxtop:..... Exactly. Just being assertive... self determination. One acted his drama before the cinema opened, while the other is acting after the crowd has left... ![]() |
Raph82:Hahaha.... Jamb question?... you know na. |
Exceed15:It is his right. It is politics, let him try his affirmation luck. The fight is trans-national. Where Wike made the mistake he is partially paying for is his past sins in vehemently opposing his fellow southern candidates. This is what the 'owners of Nigeria' will never do. |
Nemere2020:Hmmm, I see.. So I suppose even Shettima and Datti will closet up and personally vote for Atiku.... this is serious. But glad my terminology of many years is making the rounds at such a critical time. Folks are now coming to the reality of the concept of the 'Ownership' of Nigeria. |
Makanike:Was wondering. |
Duru009:It is all politics and he has a right to fight for self actualization. He feels he should not be subservient when he was practically the lone figure in holding the party together in it's darkest days It is like an internal 'emilokan' event of another kind. And he will not stop fighting till he gets what he wants, which is a shot at the Presidency to which his primary list of demands will place him in that position by a command of the party structure. The failure of the PDP to build solidarity this close to 2023 is a reflection of the lack of understanding of how democracy works and how to build institutions based on ideologies as opposed to interests. They have had 7 good years to restructure, to develop an ideology and then find the pieces to work with it. Rather they wasted it bickering and ransacking the party for personal gains. I will tell Wike this. If he had not sought to hijack the party as his personal estate by the imposition of Secondus but rather allowed democratic forces to shape the party around a certain ideology, by now it will have been so rigid and robust that Atiku will not have been able to waltz in to capture the ticket at the last minute as his custom is (no pun intended). In the wild, the hardest prey for the lion to take is one that clusters, that flocks together and works for one another. But when they are divided, stand alone or are sick or injured then it is an easy meal. Nigerians must learn how to do away with feudalism, Nigerians must learn how to build things apart from themselves and their personal interests alone. Without institutionalization, regularization and standardization nothing lasts and no great venture is attainable. |
Goldbw122:Nigerians love to excuse failure. In other climes where democracy works well when a President fails his party is voted out, given a clear red card to go spend a season in limbo to give it time to think about its tenure in office and ruminate on its stewardship. If a party keeps on winning despite it's failings democracy is worthless and the party system could as well be exchanged for independent candidacy. The reason why a party pays for the failure of government is because democracy recognizes that governance is a collective effort and no success or failure can be achieved by individual actions. So the threat of losing power causes the collective to shape and direct governance. I will give you a simple, practical heads up on what I say. If Mr Lawan, the Senate President knew in truth that the failure of Mr Buhari his fellow party man will have cost him personally in a loss of the Senate Presidency either by losing his senatorial bid or losing a majority is the House, he would have been more circumspect in rubber stamping every desire of the President which has ruined Nigeria but done his real job which is to head the primary governmental organ of check and balance for good governance. If we continue to reward and reinforce failure under any guise, this country will collapse completely. There MUST be an incentive, a proper reward system to do what is right. |
What is rather clear to me is a decline since 1999 and 1999 being a general decline since 1960. Shows that fundamentally something is wrong with the way this country is structured. 23 years of democracy, 6 general elections costing trillions of naira.... we should be concerned that we are collectively worsening our lot. Without restructuring you can all imagine what the next statistic will say. Doing the same thing over and over again is madness. Nigeria is in a pit, Nigerians should save themselves..... and STOP DIGGING. |
And then they turn around and expect trade unions to 'understand' that they cannot pay proper wages.... The black man simply cannot organise himself into a viable, prosperous societies. Our DNA is basically encased with avarice. |
Who else has noticed galvanized action particularly concerning security after the impeachment threat. Then some ignoramuses will sit somewhere saying a 'co-operative' Legislature is the key to development totally ignoring the fact that authoritarianism has brought this country to it's knees. You can imagine what the naira will have been and what inflation will have been like if someone had simply said no, no, no to all those sick loans and criminal borrowings that has gutted the treasury of this country and converted the naira to tissue. Nigerians better wake up and put an end to feudalism and vow never again to vote in maxim leaders masquerading as strong men because when they eventually cough it will quickly become a pandemic. |
Nothing bad about that as long as the system capacity is proportional to the room sizes. The only regret is that the climate control industry in Nigeria, that is manufacturers and importers of air conditioners and chiller systems are behind the curve and cannot understand the value of ducted devices as a means of cost and energy savings. A typical building consisting of multiple enclosures (rooms) does not necessarily need to have units in each room when occupancy is not absolute all the time. As a matter of fact the top of the line, small building designs these days have a single outdoor unit of say 3 HP feeding a maximum of two indoor units per floor which are then ducted to all the rooms on that floor including corridors and rest rooms saving huge amounts on energy. We cannot do enough for our wallets and the planet and this is a smart way to think. |
Every media house in the world is biased, whether print, electronic or cyber, forums, blogs, whatever. Once they offer opportunities for discourse and opinions they set rules, boundaries and redlines that favour a select at the exoense of another. Even Nairaland has perceptible biases. |
godofuck231:Exactly. These bumps wear out vehicles, reduces the lifespan of the roads themselves and in cases leads to the very accidents they are meant to prevent. There are a lot of things too complex for the black man to enjoy and road use is one of them. If only we could simply read and understand, simple signage and markings would suffice. |
Nigeria is so wierd. We are like invalids, blind, deaf and deranged. If we were not, why the proliferation of bumps all over streets, roads and even highways throughout Nigeria.... even in the Federal Capital.... and in the centre of the Federal Capital and to make matters worse you see bumps at intersections where there are traffic lights and clear signs indicating caution. So every Tom, Dick and Harry just places obstacles all over the roads in the name of protecting people too ignorant to stay alive... sad. |
Dsalvo:One thing that bothers me which you have not mentioned is the debt situation. Like Nigeria, like Lagos. I can say in no uncertain terms that your principal and his horsemen were the cornerstone advisers in this regime's unbridled appetite for public debt to fund it's so called infrastructure misadventures. The quest that has brought this nation to it's knees, plunged it's citizens into abject poverty and stoked criminality of every kind. Because I don't think the gains you claim Lagos has made since 1999 has been in sectors of real productivity which can only be industrial since Lagos has little agriculture and no mining, so it must be retail and trade which is essentially imports. So I will like to see how Lagos has grown in real, productivity based terms and why all this growth has not translated to wealth. What Nigeria will be getting from a Tinubu model of economic development in the greater Nigeria post 2023, more debt, more taxation?... Thus is what Nigerians should be discussing, analysing before deciding. Personally it is clear to me so far that while Obi's approach will be an attack on public expenditure to cut waste, trim the size of government to balance the budget, Mr Tinubu's model is more inline with what is happening today in Nigeria, fund deficits with debts while maintaining a huge government footprint. |
Another proof the Bundesliga is not up to scratch. The DFB must as a matter of urgency break the monopoly of Bayern Munich which has the rest of the league in a vice, stranglehold. |
But why the killing.... why? Can't these people ever learn. Why creating fires of popular anger and discontent all over the place when the country is spending above its means on security and the country is essentially insolvent. |
Until the results of financial audits is published no one can prove or disprove anything. That should have been the demand of the interviewer and that should be the demand of the ordinary tax payer. To believe what a politician says is to be sold down the river. None of them tells the truth, not even in developed societies with much more scrutiny and accountability. No one will have known that over a billion was spent on Landcruiser SUV's to Niger Republic if not for journalistic sleuth. Government will only be accountable to the extent of citizen advocacy for accountability and the lead to this is the burden of taxation in the midst of growing poverty. So may the taxation increase and burdens on the people weigh heavier till they wake up. |
LegendHero:Sure, if Mr Tinubu will step down for him after the first term. |
No. I don't think voting is the problem with Nigeria. Nigerians have voted six times in 23 years but democracy has not moved Nigeria forward one bit. Restructure Nigeria first and Nigerians will have a reason to vote other than sentiment and a purpose to vote, to develop Nigeria not themselves, all together and in summary, voting for the right reasons. Nigerians are not mentally ready to change the country they live in. |
Provoking the citizens back to back, week after week, then they wonder why people dislike them so much and make their tenure most uncomfortable and uncharitable. Last week gifting over a billion to a foreign country the same week your ultimatum to your education minister expired without an ASUU resolution on your account of lack of funds. Now, this week effecting the early release of convicted politicians same week governors are orchestrated to demand for a full scale impoverishment of the citizens by proposed tax increases and subsidy removals in this terribly inflated economy. Something will eventually push this country to a full blown revolution no matter how indolent, ignorant and divided the citizens are. |
I used to think SWAT meant Special Weapons & Tactics, a unit of the police called in to suppress extreme violence with extreme prejudice. In Nigeria I guess they are just ordinary beat cops and checkpoint huggers hustling for a penny. Nothing works the way it is supposed to in this country. |
On the headlines alone. This is what I have been thinking and saying. How will he govern.... if he wins.... and perhaps no one defects to his party amongst the powerful Governor's Forum or the National House of Assembly.... the Legislature If it is a bitterly fought election and he someone surmounts the fracas he will become the first President perhaps in all history to be elected without a government, and will have to rule as an autocratic because he will face battles at every step and everyday to get things done.... and we all know that his quest at the very top is to reform Nigeria which both the landlords and the cabals will not take sitting down. |
The reasons why I will support the rampaging tax regimes to come is that it will trigger a revolution. It is a necessary tool for the people to come to their senses by suffering. |
fadilaMaikiriki:Chief. Rice and stew has virtually no nutrients in it.... just a minor scale up from Indomie. Rice is just basic carbo and some brands are so polished eating sawdust may be more nutritious. What is in stew?.... Peppers, oil and tomatoes... at base form.... nothing there. |
Hmmm....rice and stew like fish and chips in Britain.... lazy, poor quality food... |
