pansophist:'Vehicles parked at owner's risk' is a legitimate excuse. Some others will clearly state, 'Donot leave valuable belongings in parked vehicles'. The security guard's reluctance was the last warning the great man above sent to discourage the man from such a grave error. Who cashes 22 million to pay wages with all the options available these days. As a corporate entity it is even an incident of regret. Who does that? Even folks who build shacks with a couple of handymen do not pay cash these days. He should thank his stars that it was a case of theft rather than a robbery which can go any way. |
ImDStar:But this is what people complain about you folks, bad language that even your principal has denounced repeatedly. Better stop it. Rather expend your resources flying kites.... alot more effective than shooting down clay pigeons. |
obi58:Nigeria is a contractor's paradise. So much waste. That is why the Peter Obi model is best suited for Nigeria right now if we are to transition to a productive economy. We can never prosper with this structure of waste. There will be several millions made by the vendor to fuel corruption here and there, funds that will not create jobs, loose funds that will only put pressure in the naira and unearned funds that will fuel inflation. We urgently need to end this culture. |
The perils of privatisation... ![]() |
This is the way to go. These are the right things to say. You realise there is a challenge and you face it square on saying and doing the right things in wisdom. |
This man is better served promoting his principal. Telling us what an Atiku presidency will do for Nigeria in solving the mountain of challenges facing this nation.... not this. Honestly, this democracy thing is just not working properly in Nigeria. |
Just when the world is settling down to the destabilization of the Russia/Ukraine conflict, boom here comes another shock, by countries that have amassed mind boggling wealth and resources unimaginable to the rest of the world. And here we are in Africa, the grass that will suffer the fallout..... the world just isn't fair. |
Angelfrost:My guy, if you cannot prosecute, you cannot enforce law and order. Right now the only institution that can bring a felon before a judge is the Nigeria Police.... even the army, even the DSS, even the civil defence cannot. This is a huge problem in Nigeria. Compromise the police and crime cannot be tackled and the police is headed by one man, who answers to the President. If Mr. President or the IG of Police does not want this man or that man to appear before a judge there is nothing anyone in Nigeria can do no matter the crime the person has committed. Now, if you cannot prosecute how do you stop impunity. If you cannot stop impunity how can you stop crime escalating. We did not get to this point of absolute insecurity by mistake. The structure of our criminal justice system is totally shambolic. It puts too much power in very, very few hands, people that interpret the law in their own way and bring their own sentiments to condition the nation as what is a crime and what is not. If you like arrest a million bandits, as long as you don't have the power to bring them before a judge then it is a total waste of time. |
Juoflife1:ESN is just like your regular 'maiguard' at the gate.... totally limited and generally useless. A security outfit that cannot arrest and prosecute but handover to people that will likely recycle them back into the bushes. A security outfit that cannot muster the firepower to counter violent crime but has to call on people that will say they have no fuel to come. A security outfit that has to share intel with those that will save and forward it to those that use it plan counter ops.... Abeg make I hear word. A security outfit that will succeed is one that will arrest a felon, bring him before the courts, witness his guilt and hand him over to correctional services, or shoots him dead without questions asked by anybody but the express permission of the state if he resorts to violence beyond apprehension. That is a system, a body, an institution that can work to reduce the kind of crime mushrooming all around Nigeria. |
opalu:They can see bringing a constitutionally recognised security structure to their doorsteps as the solution yet they hang onto the status-quo till death. Never have I heard of a citizenry so ignorant and inept that it cannot take to the streets in protest to demand their rights to exist. State police that can be set up before sunset by levying every adult in that state 1 to 5k and you can easily raise 1 to 5 billion naira as seed money overnight. Then all the equipment they regularly donate to the hapless Nigeria Police Service can be put to better use. |
They continue to stoke and fuel divisions by silly statements to feather their corrupt nests. |
Are they saying that Muslims own Nigeria and give Christians 'appointments' when they wish? The handlers of these people are not bright. Why escalating the situation and polarising even those who are fence sitters. There is already a war against northern dominance of Nigeria and its polity, they want to add religion to the mix? Why can't politicians be instruments of unity, peace and progress by the simple practice of justice and equity. Always finding more fuel for senseless fires. If the same faith ticket is okay, his handlers should work in that direction not these personal pickings because this situation is about people of that faith not Babachir Lawal. Even if Babachir Lawal approves and is promised heaven it will not affect the concerns of the vast majority of Christians because of the times we live in. So the Tinubu camp should work on that. Start by promising there will be no more killings and violence against Christians in the north for any extra-judicial reason, etc. That is the way to go. |
holubee21:The drone is just the tool of execution, just the tip of the spear. There was a lot more behind the action, much more resources in men, materials and means that made it possible. The CIA had located him and put him under surveillance for a long time. That kind of intelligence action, the tricks of the trade we certainly do not have in this country amongst our security services, not to talk of the lack of political will brought on by sentiment. For at the end of all the intel and surveillance and targeting it took the President's approval for the action to be finalised. So political will is critical. |
Lewisjohnson:Don't count on that. Sentiment is like narcotics.... very hard to kick. |
This is just putting band aid on a sinking ship. Go the whole hog and seek to establish a pan state police system. The big stumbling block is the Federal Government that is on the ropes with an impeachment intent. So there is no better opportunity to reform the security architecture of states in Nigeria by establishing institutions that are meaningful and not all these mushroom, glorified maiguard structures that have no power to properly train and equip themselves and no power to apprehend and prosecute offenders in their domains. Mr. President is on the ropes, work with the Legislature to effect state police. |
fiizznation:Oga, it is a threat that should spur positive action. Positive action that will save lives. So the timing doesn't matter, lives matter. The government has been too comfortable for 7 years because of unwarranted fanaticism. That was our fault, the fault of passive Nigerians, but enough is enough. They need a kick up their backside. |
Brushstrokes20:We said it in 2015, that by the end of the regime everyone concerned will be demystified. That the only claim to governance will be a few roads, rail lines and bridges. Who remembers that. And are we correct today or not. They called us wailers while we warned them because we were alive in the 80's when this man ruled and we know him intoto that he does not have the CAPACITY to govern the Nigeria of today. There were choices in 2014, alternatives even in the APC then but we were only looking for someone who could remove Jonathan, not someone who could govern any better, so we went for a person that was only popular because he was made popular BY PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW WHAT GOOD GOVERNANCE IS ALL ABOUT. In buying into the hype we have brought on ourselves this scenario today. The sad thing is that it appears lessons have not been learnt heading into another opportunity next year. We are still looking for people who can win rather than who can govern Nigeria effectively. Honestly I still cannot see the value in an average PVC. Nigerians are yet to come to their senses and stop digging the pit they find themselves in. |
TheRareGem1:Then you can consider the post to be directed at provocation because when your favorite club wins all it's pre season games for years only to fumble when the main contest comes then you don't read far the present hype. Anyway what is NAPTIP compared to the calamity unfolding all around the country in far more important sectors. Today folks out there will be willing to be trafficked for a candy bar. |
And it has been stated several times that 2023 is not 1993. The nation has deteriorated badly in several ways since then, one of which is race and religious relations. We have not done enough in the 30 years since then to sustain that clime of camaraderie and solidarity particularly around a common cause as it was back then in getting military, jackboot rule out. The present government on which we wish to advance trust across religious divides has been notorious for foisting divisions of all kinds and in many ways that has aggravated insecurity and undermined any hope of such an ideal. And the worst thing is that over the years since 2015 warnings by the generality of the citizens of this danger were often shouted down and disregarded such that today exclusion is viewed as an agenda and not just a mistake or obtuse behavior. Too bad that the regime after it has to deal with the fallout. |
JohnBullMySon:Completely untrue. Most professionals from lawyers, doctors, etc acting in a consulting capacities prefer to charge by the hour. |
Because it is expensive to deploy and maintain on a large scale. Those that presently administer a daily rate in the construction, engineering and parts of manufacturing and general services know this. It requires a lot of 'paper work' and layers of added supervision and where the citizens are generally not ethical it can quickly become a nightmare because by nature daily rates can easily gross out to be much more than the equivalent monthly salary. However if administered properly can be a great tool to boost productivity. |
At N700+ to a dollar this is a wise choice. The others can watch via zoom until technology arrives whereby drumsticks can be converted to bits and bytes.... pun intended. But folks have you noticed that eateries are how selling drumsticks the size of teaspoons these days.. just appalling. |
AuwalYusuf812:But the APC started it by implying that the north will not vote for a Christian VP from there. They want others to accept what they cannot take. That is injustice. If religion does not matter, why does it matter to them. Why can't they vote a Christian even if he is in nursery school. I have said it countless times. They had it all this regime, these past 7 years with this administration that did not hold back in favouring folks of that tribe and religion. Is it not fair to make sacrifices this time around. |
If it was competence alone and it had to be a northerner of Muslim faith then I see no finer administrator than Governor El- Rufai. How they ended up with Shettima still remains a mystery. So the APC man should spare us abeg. Sentiment was front and centre of this choice. Sentiment that the north-east had not been at the top of Nigerian politics ever and sentiment that the northern Muslims WILL NOT vote for a Northern Christian. It was a sentimental choice back to front so the aspirant's handlers should stop the blackmail for it is nothing more than hypocrisy |
babayinka77:I like the last few lines that assert the fact that without restructuring nothing good can emerge from this tired process of elections. For those who believe Peter Obi as being the best candidate (and perhaps rightly so) the fact that 'the system/structure' has to push him to 'play the religious card' just to gain traction/traffic shows that successful leadership is just a mirage. For if he gets there by this fact/strategy he will have to rule/govern by this strategy and poof goes all the lofty ideals/ideas. They will all have to be sacrificed on the altar of religious expediency. For you cannot train with cats and then act with dogs, it won't work. Nigeria can only progress if we collectively and simultaneously agree to surrender our armoury of sentiment to kill with finality all mutual suspicion that has led to mutual destruction the past 60 years. We need to start true ISSUE based politicking indeed. |
What is all this nonsense, jaundiced analysis.... useless demographics that have produced leaders of misfortune from elections that have had no positive impact on the nation in 23 years, just elections for elections sake, musical chairs with the same sordid characters dancing around from party to party. We better wake up and start putting people there who can solve problems and bring ithis country out of the rut it is stuck in or there will be no one to vote in the future. |
Most likely a victim of abuse. People don't just get lost for nothing. |
Nope, just used it three minutes ago. Was fine. Online however. |
daygee12:Then Mr. Tinubu fan club members should not be at the front of the critiques queue. Wait for your turn to receive. |
'....We have worked for APC for seven years and I got nothing neither was I empowered. So, I decided to defect to PDP where I can be given human treatment....' This is the lot of the black man, personal benefit, without which he has no fealty to anything. That is why the black man cannot successfully build viable, progressive societies anchored by sacrifice, principles and values. So the PDP had better make plans to take what is meant for all and give him to remain 'loyal'..... then the 4,999 other defectors.... then the 199,999,999 other citizens.... then...?? |
H0711:So sorry about your situation. |
EgunMogaji2:It is possible that the husband's meagre means could not afford proper prenatals to check what was in the offing. |
