Nigerians don't think too far, the operatives of that agency even worse. When the next government comes in and there are moves to proscribe, degrade or destroy that agency with political might out of vengance let us accept the carnage we will have caused by hailing a dancing madman with a light in a gas station.
If we must succeed we must have long term perspectives to mind our actions. This is only possible with the guidance of institutions and these institutions can only be founded if the shoots grow in the soil of professionalism, equity and justice.
The way the EFCC is going it is heading for the dustbin of history if it doesn't do things right and we the people will pay for it by having to start from scratch again and again.
It is not there to serve individual interests or even government interests but the interests of the people who own and fund it and must reflect the ideals of the people.
WAI in the 80's was a great policy and program. The reason it is not here today is that it turned against the people it was meant to serve becoming a willing tool in the hand of government so when the government fell, it fell. Wisdom in life is neither hot nor cold, it is finding the right balance. |

Marotzke: Problem is that the girl in question is now a fully commissioned officer in the Nigerian army, probably a full lieutenant.
To sanction her, a full court-martial will have to be instituted. Problem is that the offence was committed before she was commissioned, so outside the jurisdiction of the army council.
Since she has graduated and commissioned, Nigerian Defence Academy NDA, can no longer discipline her. Police also cannot touch her because she is now army property.
Best option is that the man enlist the services of Falana or keyamo for a punishing civil law suit against the lady, when ever she is identified.
The person who filmed the whole show was probably a fellow cadet then. That fellow should be be put on the watch list by the Directorate of Military intelligence. He or she possess the stuff that treachery and treason are made of. What you are saying is not true. Once you are enlisted to train you become an officer in waiting, accorded privileges that go with rank and pay. You are registered and a file is opened at DHQ. If taken up and found warranting she could be court-martialed. It happened on military time, she wore the uniform and was probably on a pass issued by her adjutant. There is nothing to extricate her here. |

OLADD: Can somebody drum it into the ears of Lai Mohammed to stop playing on people's intelligence? Nigerians are not expecting overnight turnaround in national outlook but can recognise a positive change when they see one.
Definitely, a positive change can never be accompanied with;
1. Increase in Electricity Tariff without steady power.
.2. Increase in price of kerosene without palliatives to the vulnerable poor masses.
3. Skyrocketing exchange rate at over N300 to a Dollar.
4. Increase in feeding allowance at the presidency from N500m to N1.7b
5. Presentation of a national budget to the NA without vetting or detailed scrutiny thereby resulting in unprecedented ignominy.
6. Disjointed or non-existent economic policy direction that scares away FDI .
7. Lack of intelligence blueprint in tackling terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery and other social menaces.
These are the issues bothering Nigerians and not necessarily been over-expectant. We are no dumbs Looking at the socio-political, socio-economic landscape over the last decade there is really nothing that suggests Nigerians know how their country works let alone how it can be established and developed. All we see is action and reactivity to skin pain and pleasure. |

What do wailers want self? *in PMB's voice*. Is it not because of 'wailers' you got to know about the 'mafia'. You hate pain but it is what keeps you alive, warning you that your body is malfunctioning. If you are an adult you will ask 'why' rather than taking pain killers. PDP ignored the pain until the cancer killed them. Do same at your peril. Its clear you are not interested in the quality of government you support, just politiking. Continue comparing your party to the rejected one and your end is as sure as theirs. Better wake up. Nigerians will not use the same yardstick of 1999 to 2015 to measure this government and will sure not give it 16 months thoughtless of 16 years. It is human nature to learn from experience. |

America has a very destructive gun culture, very alien to most other nations and has been a thorn in the flesh politically and emotionally to Obama who incidentally travels more than most Heads of State and due to his popularity and amiable character gets interviewed and quizzed by the world's press. When difficult questions like the gun problem arises he is never quick to answer and always thoughtful in response, never, never, never disparages the people who in his heart he severely opposes. Same with race issues and other stuff. That is mature leadership. Thoughtful. |

acevic: It baffles me at times when I read comments made by some Nigerians on critical issues like this. ..now, I respect Sen. Ben and some of his views but I disagree with his comments on this. I'm not saying the president has done a perfect thing by his remarks but we have to look at issues the way they are and stob being bias in our thinking. We are all aware of the havoc that some nigerians in diaspora are causing. Credit card frauds, dating scams, internet banking transfer frauds, drugs, name any illegal activity inn this world, a Nigeria will surely be tagged along. So what the heck are talking about biting back at the president for saying the truth when we all know the truth. Truly the truth is bitter and it hurts when its been told. We Nigerians hate the hear that some of us are criminals but sadly, its the truth. To address a problem, you have to identify it, sometimes accept that you have the problem then look for lasting solution.
You may think it makes the president happy to make such comments about his people but it doesnot. He just can't deny anymore with so much facts and evidences lying in front of him. The white peeps keep records and document even the smallest incident especially when its relates to foreigners. So pause for a moment and think about it before you call for PMB's head, has he told a lie about the criminal activities of some of us? The naswer is no.
In my own opinion, he working on building a better image for us. We can't be denying the obvious when the whole knows already.
We should call for change and pray that the people involved in these disgraceful acts have a change of heart. Okay, so the British press has the solutions to our dire problems and the British public should pray for us to repent from our criminality. |
