Omotolu:
IBB and this SAP man, Falae killed Nigerian economy. No lie about that.
By the time OBJ handed over to Shagari the Nigerian economy was in recession. They blamed it on nationalization. When Buhari took over it was far worse than Shagari. The dollar was 3 to 6 naira (or there about) due to kwarrapshun. By the time IBB sent him to Daura everything became essential, ever bread could be found in the market, Umaru Dikko was right, Nigerians had started eating at garbage heaps. By the time the dark goggled one has sent IBB to Minna hilltop the naira was double digits to the dollar. When OBJ came again it was closing on 3 digits, Jonathan squandered the greatest oil windfall in the history of civilisation and now Buhari's flip flop is threatening to send the economy back to the stone age.

Abeg. When is our recession going to end. Why can't one government be better than its predecessor. Why is it always better yesterday. Why hasn't this government diversified since sworn in June last year.

Many will never read to what the minister is pointing to before nailing him down. To be sincere, it is time Nigerian deviate from over reliance on oil to other areas like agriculture and solid minerals. With the way out economy is going, it may not do us good if we couldn't reason along with the government to put things right. Though it may take time but there will be light at the end of the tunnel
The last person to openly love big oil was Gowon when he famously (or infamously) declared we have money but don't know what to do with it. Ever since every leader has pretended they hated the black stuff but alas at their exit they sink deeper into the oil wells of dependency. Ogbe is speaking the truth by half and his cunningness we see through. Why won't he blame IBB when he knows the gap toothed general is his boss's nemesis. Are we saying the economy was rosy during the reign of Buhari I in 1984, or are we saying Buhari diversified the economy then and IBB re-tied us to the barrel. Abegi. Every Nigerian is responsible for what we see today. And without restructuring the quality of our lives will always be better yesterday. This is one of the few countries that has never had an economic upturn. It has been a world record, 50 years of recession. Something is just not normal about this country.

Yeah, I don't get it. 17 years and one champions league final appearance is decidedly poor, a decade without a league title with all the resources they have is poor. Every other team in the top league groupings across Europe has won in that time. In France Lyon, PSG, etc. In Italy Milan, Inter, Juve. Even in ultra-polarised leagues like Germany and Spain, Bayern has been upstaged by Dortmund lately and mighty Barca and Real pipped for Laliga by Atletico. The titles have gone round pretty much in Europe in the last decade leaving Arsenal perenial under achievers.

Yet more proof that Wenger and his team still cannot cut it at the very top. The response to the card was poor. Arsenal badly needs new management with big game mentality. The only reason they are up there is that the traditional table toppers City, Chelsea and United have been poor and inconsistent this season and not because Wenger has done anything special. He needs to go and fast enough to let the younger, hungrier generation of managers through. Pep will be available in the summer. He's expressed his admiration for the team and his philosophy syncs. It will be a real pity if the club misses the golden opportunity to get the golden Pep. Wenger is done.

Seems majority of posters prefer building a house to buying one. Have you ever heard of this old saying? " The fool builds a house, the wise buys a house". I don't know how this saying came about.
And the Bible says, 'by wisdom a house is built'. How can doing things be termed foolishness. I will only buy to speculate, trade, whatever but build, never. Building like childbirth to women is an experience every man should anticipate. It is one of the successes of middle income America. Part of the famous dream.

Be objective. It does not. Build institutions and let them fire policy. Corruption cannot be eradicated in Buhari's lifetime. If the next leader becomes a Looter-in-Chief, what will you do, tell me. Then you will be crying to the very institutions and quoting the very constitution being rail-roaded. "...ending up in the lion's stomach" is a very loaded statement. Read again without sentimental goggles.

The problem is you people have no idea what the job of a constitution is.

NOBODY is against the war on corruption, if any.

If Buhari keeps disobeying the court/constitution, the next president would be worse. If Buhari continues this way he would set a bad precedent for future presidents to violate the law by ignoring court orders. Eventually, our constitution and courts will become useless. We will then be back to military rule!. With that alone, Buhari would've set Nigeria back to the 80's.

That is the danger people!. This is not about Dasuki or Nnamdi Kanu, it is about your rights!.
You can say anything about Fayose and others as in this case but to trade your constitution, the rule of law and crumble your institutions for a government, politics, individuals and policies is very short-sighted. When you will need these things to build society, they won't be there.

You are absolutely wrong. The constitution and the rule of law is what makes a country. Without that you don't even have a government thoughtless of a policy. With scant regard for the rule of law everything becomes legal even the corruption you are fighting. That is why it hasn't stopped.

I hope Buhari doesn't listen to you and takes it all in his stride because to be like OBJ and deny constitutional rights is political harakiri. Those acts of the early 2000's by the PDP and OBJ helped found the opposition and Buhari should not indirectly kickstart the PDP. He's done enough damage to the fortunes of the ruling APC.

That is a huge gaffe. If the Press gets on this one he'd be torn limb from limb. In the industry you just do not do this. The only light shinning in his cold, damp cell is the fact Toyota and Landrover are not direct rivals. They don't fly within the same airspace.
One CEO of Volkswagen, another of a Swiss watch maker (can't remember), the CEO of Pepsi, Starbucks and even brand 'Cristiano Ronaldo' have all been embarassed by secret preferences for rivals gone public.

Gbawe:
Precisely. Ultimately, Nigerians are a people who like to appear more erudite than others. From page one it is different suggestions by numerous Nigerian George Soros and Warren Buffets that completely misses the central and pertinent issues. The bottom line is that we screwed ourselves royally because we left ourselves economically vulnerable to the vagaries of oil price. Being a mono economy with oil as our major export, accounting for 80% of the income of Nigeria, means there is no quick or easy way out as long as oil price remain low.

The 'solutions for our economic woes are virtually all long term 'fixes' eg diversifying our economy, growing the SME sector aggressively, developing critical infrastructure et al. I think the APC should embark on proper and formal 'education' exercise to sensitize Nigerians about what we are facing. That might spare us some of the ignorant argument we are seeing on this thread with uninformed mischief-makers using terms they do not even understand.
And why is it that no government including this one has been able to 'DIVERSIFY'. Paying only lip service because they know the truth. True Federalism. Something no one north of the Niger wants to hear. To the victor belongs the civil war spoils. Who wants to work anymore. That is the PRIMARY reason Jonathan had to go. The water to turn garri to eba was about to boil. This country cannot succeed and cannot develop because it is held together by a grand lie. We all know this but pretend we can skirt it. We CANNOT diversify the economy. The powers that be. The owners of Nigeria are not interested.

Why not tell the administration it is not doing things well instead of 'wishing'. Man up, remove sentiments and bigotry and do the RIGHT thing. The FX policy CANNOT work where you produce nothing. Devaluation will have prevented a run on the naira and sure bets against it. You stupidly hold up the naira giving speculators enough time to stock dollars knowing the inevitable will happen.

One thing most of you have failed to realize is that most people that voted Buhari did so because he would fight corruption. To this people, Buhari is on the right path.
But there is more to life and living. And corruption is not the biggest problem Nigeria has. We have far more serious issues. And even if corruption ends today it will not develop nor prosper this country. But it is good these things happen so that people will see clearly and find alternative paths. We will learn nationhood by substitution and elimination.

Adeosun, four months into office hasn't given up to 3 press briefings on financial policies aimed @ revamping the nation's economy. Heck, she's been eerily silent all through; in words and in actions!

Udoma, sigh!.. I hear he's in charge of Budgets and Planning. Bearing in mind the gaffes and scandals we've been hearing about the nation's budget these past couple of weeks, its funny that no one has pointed fingers towards his direction.

Anyways... lemme just chill and watch how the whole scene plays itself out.
But don't you think the reason they donot express themselves is the over bearing influence of their principal.

Not comparing at all but when totalitarian rulers from Stalin to Phul Phut came to power the first thing they attack is creativity and the people often exhibited in gaols are intellectuals and artist(e)s. On the contrary nations where free speech is highly valued also have great innovation and are very prosperous. When will you start holding this government accountable for its own actions. If the PDP is responsible for everything, are we them implying they would be responsible for the outcome of the 2019 polls. Will you accept that.

Fashola your much acclaimed hero forged a legacy entirely of his own and surpassed his predecessor's achievements despite their several tiffs and oft having his hands tied. Buhari no doubt has been dealt a bad stack of cards but he has more than made up for that by owing no man anything. He has no present encumbrances, tied to no apron strings of people or institutions. He has the proverbial yam and knife. He has it all, so he and no one has any excuses for whatever outcome his decisions produce. Even his party is beginning to distance itself from some of the things happening just as the SMC by 1985.
