I am very impressed with the LASG approach and if the project will provide jobs and skills that is perfect. Economies have risen on the back of public works alone. And not the Julius Bergeresque model we have adopted for 50 years in this country. |
299: That girl has finished herself in that schoolWhy. Except she's a dullard or equally corrupt she will pass naturally. Lecturers may have the battle but should they choose to they will lose the war. Every one of her scripts will be in the public eye and there are several SAN's and notorious NGO's who feed on these issues. The man is gone. We have problems in this country. Corruption no go kill us sha. Bloody rapist. See im tiny William Wilberforce. |
^^^The bolded is unfortunately true! What we need is a ruthless competitive environment like we had in the 50s and 60s, before the Hausa/Fulani got to be in control of policy making and execution and then slowed everyone else down to their speed. I've just about had it with this country!! How can you initiate affirmative action in education and employment (since the 70s) so the core north can catch up with the south, yet there's no time frame or termination date for this stupid retrogressive policy? Why the fuc/k am i chained to a people who don't give two fuc/ks about education and are afraid to compete on a level playing field? And when i want emancipation from this mess, someone will turn around and shout 'one naijeriah!' in my face and tell me i'm going nowhere!
Ouch! |
What's all these talk about keeping the property and selling it or what not. Didn't you guys read the part that says the SSS fears these assets could find their way back to the perps ala the Vaswanis. The SSS is openly acknowleging we don't have real constitutional laws or strong enough institutions to uphold them across party lines or even executive terms. In this light I fully support their proposals. It will act as a deterrent to those thinking or playing the part. If you're caught, you will lose everything no matter how much. |
Hmm. Phantom Menace. |
See where anger can lead you. Now where are those Nairaland E-combatants. |
CFCfan: Absolutely spot on. Yobo would have been an experienced substitute. We don't need to take experience there. We are going there to gain experience, to expose our players ahead of Brazil 14. Yobo is an old engine that is not the future of our team. Why should he go and take valuable playing time away from the players we really need to develop. If Brazil, Spain or Uruguay fails in this tournament will we assume they are bad teams and won't do well when the world cup proper starts. All we need from this tournament are decent performances and developmental potentials. Let's think long term for once please. |
ScorchedViper: i'm not expecting any sort of miracles.....I do like the fact that the boys will at least get some exposure to real soccer before the world cup next year....Best position so far. We fail to realise our football is in the rebuilding phase and is far from the finished articie. What we need is a great deal of patience and consistency. For Spain, Italy and Uruguay they may be in it to win it but for us exposure ahead of the world cup holds more value. I just hope the results donot create panic and destabilize the team. The nine changes to the nations cup team is already too much in such a short space of time. |
Phantom Menace |
Was it not Ronaldinho who was sacked by Coca Cola or so for drinking a Pepsi during a press parley. And then there was this manager who had the audacity to drive his Beemer into his Volkswagen parking space. Guess what happened to him. Pity people who are 'branded'. The money sweet but... |
Mikel's just coming back from injury. I hope he did not accelerate his recovery. |
See folks cheering after lambasting the team after Mexico. Said then that Nigerian teams always start slow cos of our frequently flawed preparations. I think Keshi is getting to grips with the system. Keep the team together and with time they will become formidable. Its a matter of time and consistency. |
And by the time the new platform stabilizes and the run on services abates we could be talking a couple of weeks. Anyway kudos for the heads up. Wish PHCN could be this honest not leaving the scene to speculators masquerading as journalist who would have reported the First Bank issue as: 'A certain bank whose mascot is a white elephant is playing the blues with its service because the zoo keeper is upgrading its food from grass to a new formula called Pinnacle 10." Don't worry First Bank no one will jump ship and legal redress is not in our lexicon. |
sandilo: Passed through there some forty minutes ago and can confirm dat the soldiers and other masked men in bullet proof vests are still there. Saw some lebanese looking guys in a coaster bus in front of d sealed supermarket.Yeah, there's a tall guy in black or dark blue balaclava staring at anyone who drives by. And the soldiers extend up to H-Medics. Those ones are busy buying bootleg Cd's and chatting about with one finger on their AK triggers. Funny. |
Criticize wisely and stop displaying your ignorance here,Lebanese are not Arabs. @OP Why is everyone surprised when it was the same people in power in the past that gave these foreigners absolute power in Nigeria ? The simple truth is that for Nigeria to be good,it invloves Nigerians to take that decision and stop relying on foreigners whether western or Arabs to build the country for them because these foreigners have their own foreign policies which was never intended to progress Nigeria but their own indigenious countries.
Some are arabs. |
oshyno: NGF officially dead cuz I don't see AC N governors joining Jang's faction.I hope it dies because I cannot see what good this unconstitutional, undemocratic gathering has contributed to our democracy or the fortunes of Nigerians in general. I'm personally disappointed GEJ is lending an ear to this charade. The governors should just return to their states to improve the well-being of their constituents. If they have national interests to address, they have representatives in the House and senate to do that if and only if they can work properly with them. |
Anyone belongs in Everyone!!! Were you expecting less than a stellar performance from the Nigerian team after AFCON? ? ?
Afcon is over. We should move on. Soccer is not school where abilities mount. It is cyclical. Bayern won the UCL but will start from scratch with pre-season matches and for the sake of the football family we hope will not reach the same level of performance next time no matter the expectations of their fans. That is soccer reality. |
ogugua88: I don't know if either of you have watched Mexico play before today. They are far more organized than Nigeria, and they can certainly last 90 minutes in a match... even with 10 men as we saw today. If Mexico came at us with the strength they displayed in the second half with 11 men, I may be crying myself to sleep saying "every dog has its day".Thanks hon. On the mark. Your feet are firmly on the ground. The Nations Cup is past. You have to rebuild. That is hard for even countries with sound administration and continuity. Let us match our expectations to our abilities. |
Fantastic result. Didn't quite expect it. I think our Nations Cup win has elevated our expectations. Rightly so but the truth is that we are traditionally slow builders. Remember the group stages of the Nat. Cup. And moreover Mexico is a footballing country. |
Gambia street, Kano ? That's what the Iranian man actually said. ![]() |
Nigeria traditionally doesn't perform well in friendly (spot) matches due to our legendary soggy preparations. But when it comes to tournaments and a string of matches (match time/camp time) then we pick up. Am not expecting much. |
Good job. Every infrastructural development is an added plus and for those regionaldos, we should welcome development in any part of Nigeria. Those outside our shores looking in to invest do not sectionalize things. As for the appearance and quality, it goes with the circumstance. I prefer functionality. This is the level of our development. |
Lifeline for those governors or candidates currently promoting private armies or militias or instigating violent uprisings. The Feds will sort out the mess. Am I thinking Nassarawa here |
timecop28: Israel selling weapon technology to RussiaThen you donot know much about the arms industry or the subject matter. No point going on. |
This is exactly why Israel should not be selling weapons technology to Russia. I always knew things could go this way. There is no point in trying to buy favours from that militarily semi-rogue nation. |
riloxy: Corruption is a virus, it has affected the whole part of our country negatively.I see. I thought it was only political office holders. |
OlamideOkadigbo: His criminal records should av been properly checked before he was allowed to vie for the NFF post.Abi oh. didn't he submit a CV that would contain amongst other things places of previous appointments. Oh, I forgot, this is Nigeria, paper is paper, money is money. |
alutacontinua: My own problem still lies in the fact that if a man were to be caught cheating, the story changes! No. He will be called goat, dog and the lot. We know them even on this forum, hypocrites. They know how to quote bible today. Let's keep this thread on ice till the man gets caught tomorrow. |
eGuerrilla: Yours is the voice of reason which looms large over the cacophony of perfidy and malevolence holding sway on this discussion thread |
eGuerrilla: Rather sad to see the inconsistency of Nigerian youths who were quick to condemn the Obasanjo-Uba brigandage in Anambra and other states, applauding what is unraveling here on good conscienceJust reading through the various topics on this issue and posts by forumites whom I assume are youths, stakeholders (not those closer to their graves and so donot give a damn) or toddlers, there are very, very few who stand for something, who are principled and have values. As the wind blows you find them list. That am afraid is the future of this country. As for the topic in discourse I see nothing but benefits here both for the region of the Niger-Delta and the polity in general. May the divide between the governors and the presidency continue to broaden. There should be no meeting of the two. My idea of utopia is for the governors to take their states as far away from the centre as possible. I hope in the future trips to Abuja will be for sight seeing and not for matters of governance, resources et al. And for the Niger-Delta this is a unique opportunity to harvest the true dividends of democracy. With the exception of the north with its peculiar problems (feudalism) any President from the south will always have problems with his region. That is the beauty of democracy. The moment a man steps up from 'home', that hallowed place, that eldorado is instantly demystified because they know the office holder from his mothers womb and so competitive power arise. It happened with the south-west (OBJ and Tinubu), now its happening with GEJ and Amaechi. It is normal. It is the broadening and deepening of democracy and the outcome can only be positive particularly when both warring parties tap into the electorate and perform to seek credibility. No matter how crude these battles are now, they are entirely beneficial because like I've said a thousand times democracy is not about agreement but respect. I rather fear when parties who should be checkmating one another, be it the National Assembly and the Presidency, or the Presidency and the Judiciary or the States and the centre, begin to agree on things. It doesn't work for Nigeria. It only spells 'chop and I chop'. Like the famous quote out of a PDP meeting, "It is bad manners to talk while you're eating". Those locales without 'noise' are simply not developing IMHO. |
