Lekmosh: I thought what happened there is more than meets the eye. There must be a problem between them beforeWomen are always excused for whatever they do. Continue. |
Ujujoan: I don't have the full story, but I'm pretty sure he did something really nasty and thought proposing could fix it!I just hope you are joking or the guys in the pic are acting some script. If not this is terribly hypocritical and typical of these so-called modernesque women who wail when they get it but excuse it when they ere. I fully expect the lady to be arrested and charged with assault, period. Then let her make her case at the station. That is fairness and the equity that women desire and rant about. |
What is NGF and what has it contributed to the progress of this nation. If this discord will diminish, degrade and ultimately destroy it, am not complaining about anything. My mind is alive and ticking. |
It is still all on the back of oil money period. All I can see are avenues of expenditure. |
Anoneism: Expecting Nigeria to be corruption freeSo there is dichotomy in corruption. Their corruption (more serious I suppose) and our corruption (less serious I suppose). Well am sure you'd get to understand one day then we can start. |
Horus: The Government in Nigeria is the innocent mirror of the nation. The quality of government and its leaders, is simply a reflection of the collective consciousness of all the people in Nigeria. In some instances, leaders who came to power as the champions of anti-corruption have themselves been charged with being involved with levels of corruption even more serious than those of their predecessors. If the collective consciousness in Nigeria is disintegrated and negative, and people are not behaving in accord with Natural Law, then problems and corruption will be an unavoidable phenomenon of government. If, on the other hand, the collective consciousness in Nigeria is positive, integrated, and coherent, then the government will not be influenced by any negativity. If the people in Nigeria wish to be protected from corruption in government, then they must create an integrated collective consciousness. Positivity and harmony should be so strong and dense in national consciousness that negative influences cannot penetrate it.One cool beer for you this hot Sunday afternoon. Ticked all the boxes. |
I think the greatest obstacle to marraige is this thing called love. When the ideal of love is taken out of relationships the parties quickly discover they have options. Was love the basis of taking up that employment. Do we love our bosses, colleagues at work, the market woman who sells us stuff, our pals at the pub, yet we seem to get along better than the guy at home who we 'love' and at times we rather be at work, shopping or at the pub. Why. And don't tell me you can't turn love on and off at will and be objective. At 35 singlados do. Why not at 25. |
fabolakers: Marriage is not 2 minutes instant noodles. You have to take your time to work for the best. That's it and this fact is oft lost among the women folk. Marraige is like buying a new car. The benefits are clear but the wahala is round the corner and will be manifest with time so you must be prepared to work. Of course the first scratch or dent upsets you. You fix it but after a while and a few dents more your love for your car becomes functional rather than superficial. That's where most marraiges untangle. The reluctance to alter principles, accept realities, change standards, lower expectations, exchange superficiality for functionality. |
jennykadry: Story 2.This is not a fact. A few examples here and there does not make it universal. As you said, 'a smart and sane man'. For the average couple to be proper courtship in today's world remains the best option for stability. I may not have had good parenting, I may not attend a good church, I may not even be socially educated, I may not afford this or that but every person has the time to think things over carefully before decision time. |
SailorXY: Are you saying dortmund don't deserve a spot in the grand finale? Why is everybody asking me this question. Didn't you watch the previous rounds. |
Told you guys Bayern would win. Luck can only get you so far, Dortmund's ran out last night. |
I can't see beyond Bayern today. Few minutes to winning the Cup just last season. Totally dominant both home and in Europe. Eliminated the mighty Barca, playing some of the best soccer seen this season. Dortmund on the other hand are lucky to be in the finals. Rode it against Malaga and downed a tacky Madrid team that hasn't traveled well this season. But the Bavarians have to realise that finals are finals, one wrong tackle, one bad word to the ref, one misplaced pass, one lapse in concentration and it could all go up in smoke. Football is unpredictable but the general rule is that the better team oft wins and Bayern is the better team. |
lindiwey: I tried d scolding method and talkn to my 2yrs old son weneva he does wrong.d tin no work oo I just dey waste my saliva Instead he will b laughing n tinks am joking.I started d spanking method on his butts and its bn working wella, most times I just threaten him wit a cain(ruler) witout beating him.imediatly he sees d ruler,d guy go take dressing sharp sharp sayn mummy sorry.wen he's sayn sorry I now talk to him n corect him.but some parents over do it by using dangerous objects to beat their child thereby inflictn wound on dem.I tink d grounding method will work for older kids.just study ur child n knw d one dat works for u then apply itWhy not lead by example. what is happening to you is that your body language is all wrong. You say something but mean another and these signals are confusing him. he should be able to tell when you play, when you work and when you teach. Most parents do not present this distinction properly and early enough. Excellent parents can change the direction of discourse with their children by something as simply as a raised eyebrow or a simple decibel increase. If you are extreme, always unserious or always too serious, over anxious or far too relaxed you are on a long thing. You must culture multiple personalities in your home to expose them to the spectrum of human behaviour. And start early. |
Flogging is simply a last ditch attempt to rectify parental failings by which ever party is involved. Like imprisonment or capital punishment we acknowledge its necessity but frequently ignore its cause. Good parents flog their children, excellent parents don't. They don't need to. |
ifyn4real: before the factory was built shagari called germans to bulid the factor they refuse the contract because they knew that this guys will be building big machines like ships etc, so he called the russians, they built it but went away with the heart of production, the machine that can mould bigger plateThis is not true. Building an industrial complex and running it are not the same thing. They involve two different sets of expertise. Those who build careless what you do with it. It is when you involve business concerns with competing interests in establishing these plants that matters like this happen. If I wanted to build a refinery I could either engage Shell or Mobil who have interests in the business and suffer the consequences or engage Kellog or Hyundai heavy who don't sell oil. If we've been engaging the wrong people to build plants for us that's our problem but to generalize and say the Germans did this, and the russians that is wrong. It is our corruption that cannot make that thing work. If government engaged Dangote to build a cement plant for it to manufacture the stuff don't you think that would be strategic suicide. |
AjanleKoko: Maybe the truth is that we just don't understand that side of business. Creating value chains for manufacturing.Well he just has to. That's why government should not just wake up and take these kinds of decisions. Steel plants are not cheap to set up and run. People who put money in these things secure markets first or create markets well ahead. They don't assume the markets are there then throw billions into the ground hoping. If the trade minister says the thing won't fly there's nothing the industries minister can do. Any other thing is a white elephant. In the bid for the London olympics LOCOG had to prove to government that facilities will be viable after the games so they came up with a business plan to free government of liability. Look at our facilities after the All-African games, shambles. That's the difference. |
If they want it to work they should first establish a conducive environment through carrot and stick. The Minister of Trade should get off his fat behind and start creating steel markets and value chains. Create proper internal demand and then slow imports. This is pure private sector turf. How government expects to be selling flat sheets to Innoson while they cruise BMW's or rebars to Berger when they owe on contracts baffles me. Just forget it. |
AjanleKoko: Seconded. Is it today the place has been looted. The looting started in 1982. They have constantly replaced one major component of that plant since that time. They have refurbished the plant how many times, they have closed down, sacked workers and paid compensation how many times. Is this a joke or what or is it because we don't work for the money as a nation we waste on these things. If you owned a factory and paid salaries for 35 years without returns any right thinking man will call you foolish. If government cannot successfully sell that thing they should dig a big hole and bury it. It is a liability. Period. |
awodman: Source:www.vanguardngr.com/2013/05/jonathan-recovers-ajaokuta-from-global-steel-sen-adeyemi/How is this a good thing for the government to recover that liability and when the senator says 10,000 jobs he means government employees who will end up as notorious PHCN type workers down the line. It is not compulsory to run a steel plant. If the private sector can't do it the government shouldn't try. They ran the place for thirty years and failed under all past governments. If they don't know what to do with money they should look towards basic infrastructure. Steel production is pure business. No where in the world does government invest in it. The fact that you failed the privatisation exam does not mean you should withdraw from classes and close down the school. This merry-go-round has got to stop. |
eGuerrilla: The bitter truth is, there are lot of Nigerian parents who consciously enter into a contract with British society which is laden with false expectations. I will say more on this later. You're right. Say the truth at the risk of being tagged even on this forum. Nigerians hate the truth. That's why we are who we are. |
Going by Dangote's record of relationship with host communities sorrounding his establishments like the cement factories and all, i can assure you that any millitant who wishes to make trouble for Dangote will be shot dead or hanged by the community members themselves for trying to put sand inside the Golden morn (not even Ga.r.ri) Dangote will surely prepare for them. That said, i'm still not comfortable with the idea of Dangote dictating our fuel price as is likely to be the case a few years from now.
Then encourage other runners to join the race and reposition PPPRA. Turn their eyes away from chopping subsidy to regulating the business. We don't even have proper regulatory structures to encourage private ownership. Dangote is taking huge risks here. |
nkem Kalu: WHAT JONA CANNOT DO DANGOTE CAN DO BETTERWhat are you expecting. Government refineries? I think we have gone past that. Stop clinging to the Nitels, Phcn's and NNPC's. These things are passing away. Once Dangote's machine starts pumping gas, government will finally cremate those money pits it calls refineries. Just be glad that its not another South African bully that's crashed the party early on. |
Brunel: As i read the title of this thread, the first thing that comes to my mind is 'this man is doing alone what government failed to do in almost 30 years'. providing jobs and opportunities and increasing standard of living, one day we all will wake up and realise dat Alhaji Dangote is ACTUALLY our government.Oga leave that argument alone. That is what happens in every developed and progressive country. The private sector is the driver of economic growth and by extension the standard of living. The healthy of the private sector is the health of the economy. All government does is to attract participation and referee the match not play games. There are three or four officials compared to twenty-two players. That is a healthy proportion. Big government is always bad. That's why we encouraged subsidy removal, that's why we want government out of business, that's why we wanted the military out of politics. Simply put, freedom.. There is money in this country and money outside waiting to come in if only we can encourage the bearers. |
Fishout: Welcome development for people in south west nd in Nigeria as a whole. May God be with u so that ur vision will come true in time.Right. Everything must have an ethnic coloration. Good thing the man doesn't think that way. |
Mad Cow: Why would he build the refinery in Ondo State?! Does Ondo State have oil wells or does he intend to run pipes from Ondo to the South-South?!Yes, Ondo state has oil wells but 400,000 barrels per day, no. Anyway it is a private concern and can be located anywhere that fits their strategy. Are we not sending our crude all the way to Texas. |
The man of God has really underwent a lot of transformation. He used to look more like a juju priest back in the days. Now he dresses very smart and shaves his beard now unlike before. His grammar /use of English has improved in recent years as well I like his philosophy- MORE UNTO OTHERS, LESS ON OURSELVES. I practice this and it has helped me a lot. The more you help others, the more you meet unmerited favors everywhere. I know many people are going to call TB Joshua names. Alot of people say the miracles he perform on TV are fake? I used to think like that but I know many people that got healing at his church. Some had brain tumor, cancer etc, and since many years they got healed they are all living healthy, so those miracles are not fake. I also know some people who went to his church for healing and died, one was a high ranking police officer from Ikeduru. A great number of Africans say he is using occultic powers bc he perform miracles that are impossible to an ordinary man, but let me ask, if you are a true Christian tell me what God cannot do? Whether he is a true man of God or not, I am not God so I dont know and my bible tells me not to judge. I worship at Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt, owned by David Ibiyomie. Our daddy is loved by all, he is very educated and among the top most Intelligent pastors in 9ja, those in PHC can confirm this. But even at that, How do I know whether my pastor is using occultic powers or not? We are human beings and we normally judge from what we see on the outside. Abeg TB Joshua IF actually using juju then it is a good juju. This juju that heals HIV/AIDS/CANCER and many incurable diseases. This juju that has given scholarship to thousands of Africans. This juju that is feeding thousands of people across the globe, abeg it is a good juju. It is better than the witches and wizards we have in high and low places across our villages in BLACK AFRICA, those ones that doesn't want us to move forward. On the last day we shall know where we stand.
Very easy to know who is and who isn't. Those who depend on the bible are. Those who don't simply are not. Whatever power you have in God is proportional to how much of him you know. Secondly those who are real generally tend to 'renew' rather than 'refurbish' souls. The forgiveness part always superceeds the miracles. Your life is more valuable to God than your body. God wants you to love him not his money. Don't we all. |
Adex097: I like this man but the controversies suroundng him is just too mush,...is he the only man of God? Shebi baba adeboye dey their, kumuyi dey and so many like that but this very good philantropist is always on the frontpage of national dailies and Nairaland...and we al knw that their is an aiota of truth in every rumour. That is because every Christian whether biblical or contemporary has a story or should I say history, roots. As long as your background is questionable or unbelievable so will your testimony. God simply does not drop people from heaven anymore. |
lorretta u: Can someone please explain to me what the almajiri system is all about?Social security without education. A recipe for disaster but like combustible materials can be handled safely. The problem lies when you bring a box of matches into the equation called feudalism which is the cornerstone of northern society, a conflagatory 'born to rule' attitude no thanks to their past leaders then we have the perfect elements for an inferno. Of course you have the spark plug or percussion cap called the GEJ presidency. So the almajiri system, dangerous as it may be is just one of several parts of a structurally imbalanced system. However its good that we have begun to address the issue. |
tallceejay: Your house is burnt and u r asking if the mattrass burnt along with it ?? R we gonna keep arguing geography and direction of rivers and lands from 2centuries ago ? The Northerners say being ruled by a non-muslim (infidel) is against their religion and must be rejected even by blood, this is d will of their god and we r arguing abt river channelsYou're getting near the core of the matter. You understand. Their opposition is fundamental and these things take time to fade. Said it many times, power is like a drug. Hard to rid. Boko Haram is a typical junkie's reaction. I am not angry with them, I pity them. They need power rehab. |
almajiri101: David mark must be crazy for the rubbish he spewed up here.Vacate office for what. The incumbent President died, he took over by constitutional right, and got re-elected in the fairest election to date. Why should he make way. Oh, the lanlords of Federal power want to renovate their property. Sorry. |
You can accurately predict the response of every Nigerian to this. And I must say including those looting this very minute. |
56,000 whot! Men, even a Gatling will turn to liquid steel going through that lot. Said it a while ago. With the vast sums of black cash spinning around our economy our judiciary will soon be totally out-manouvred and law enforcement out-gunned. Does the Compol have 56,000 rounds of ammo anywhere under his jurisdiction. |
