Dewze: This phenomenon is not a global one like a lot of comments as pointed. Rather it is a black man thing. Bum shaking in music videos started with African Americans. They introduced it to their music by bringing prostitutes from their ghettos into their videos (it was a very cheap and less mind tasking way to sell records and it still is) especialy at the rising time of HIP HOP.What are you saying. Do you even see what ballerinas wear or is it girls on British talent shows or belly dancers in conservative arabia. Drop it man. |
esere826: Ok I have this habit of viewing the profile of anly lady that say something extremely intelligent or extreme crapI tell you. Its genetic. |
ItsModella: it's not just in naija videos, it's a global phenomenon.Exactly. It is generic. Hard wired into women that they are sex objects. Its origins are biblical. A curse for leading creation astray so they have to pay the price by being in submission to the vanities of creation. Once a girl is born her body becomes a god and she slaves to satisfy it and man with it. Pity. |
alosiby92: Although the modern music videos by Nigerian artistes have improved in quality, quantity has worsened in terms of the ladies in the music videos. My dear how do girls treat themselves. Is it not the same or worse. 'Oh, it is my body I have a right to flaunt it.', 'It makes me feel good, what is your business'. And other defenses girls and women submit. Are these videos part of modern day slavery or simply the expression of what women generally believe - that sex sells and shaking your wares attracts customers. Even you poster look in the mirror at your enhancements. For what na. |
And why should fulani herdsmen be walking cattle on the highways carrying automatic weapons. This country sef. |
Surely even those working in Fashola's office or home can't all be driving to work. Doesn't he ask them how they fare. And does he not think this will cause a few to dip their fingers in the till to 'survive'. Not thought through at all. |
Keke is even more frustrating to car drivers than Bike. You stand a better chance overtaking a bike than overtaking a keke.
Ha, ha, ha. See nau. When we were faulting okada ban. They were saying whot. Now. For those masses who serve in VI, Ikoyi and Ikeja GRA, I hope BRT can take you to your master's doorstep especially as the rainy season is kicking in. Or tell your oga to get all of you official cars, ha, ha. |
And their FAAC cash handed over to the military to fund security. At least it will take a lot of fuel out of the fires these governors have started. |
Politics. Real politics is damn good. You know there was a time when the south was knoown for its ethno-political discord while the north was a unified well oiled political machine. Today the north is like one huge meteorite entering earth's atmosphere, fragmenting so destructively. How times have changed. Good times are coming. We will understand very soon why the 'State Of The Union' is so important to the USA. |
Okay. Been doing some reading. Appears this is the outcome of the volatile mixture of ethnicity and politics. Another attempt perhaps of the middlebelt to detach itself from the caliphate. The fall-out of a split atom is serious radio-activity. Hope all parties concerned play their cards well this time around particularly the north. If not other middle-belt sub-tribes will further detach. On the political front all appears quiet. Perhaps because it is a CPC/APC state so no political wrong has/can be done. Funny. Which means also no political solution can be found. Its not about the party afterall but the structure of the country. How many times are we going to say that. |
Vanity. And when they hit mid-age and all the money, all the technology in the world can no longer make you 'feel good' about yourself then what. Vent your frustrations on society, the media or the poor man called your partner. All these short term investments sef. All these people that worship their bodies are some of the most miserable people you can ever meet in latter years if you can find them cos some turn hermits to keep us remembering the graceful years. |
Judolisco: Watch out 4 boko haram part2That's it. Next thing the man dies in custody under mysterious circumstances and all hell breaks loose. Then what was probably a pseudo-political gang becomes a full blown national insurgency. I hope the security operatives are braced for the fall-out or blow back of their actions. |
Once again this is a good day. Self expression, freedom of speech, strengthening of regions, erosion of the centre, tribal supremacy, strong alternative political characters. C'mon guys is this not what we all want. Now we all berate Asari and pretend to love Nigeria because it is the other man threathening. Don't we all comit treason day in day out. What is treason by the way? A search for a better way of life for my and your people against the interests of the minority in power? Who is in power or who is powerful. Who is not hypocritical in these matters, who hasn't received amnesty for his acts in the course of righting the wrongs of this country. Do you perceive we are moving forward, getting better or worse. Abeg leave Asari alone. He is just an expression of what you secretly wish you were. |
Inik: True and the stats quo will be on ground for a long time. Until we have a sovereign national conference where we discuss the terms of our nationhood, our politics will always be decided on religious and tribal lines. Asari dokuboh is saying exactly the same thing some prominent northerners said in 2011.Hmmm. Okay. |
The idea of using religion, ethnicity and violence to intimidate and blackmail people into riding into or abdicating power is becoming soo tiring and boring. The hypocrisy behind it is even sickening! Tho' in the constitution in the form of quota system and federal character, this trend was established when certain public figure asked muslims to vote their fellows while Christians do same. Unfortunately, politics of sectionalism, religion and tribalism has come to stay.
Hmmm. Okay. |
Federer had better throw in the towel before even James Blake begins to pummel him. |
Well this thread is bound to abuse rule 2 and 3. However the fact remains that the election of GEJ remains the best thing to have happened to Nigeria. Whether we like it or not there is power shift that will eventually make for equilibrium and progress. It is good to have a strong opposition party but it is better to have stronger regions. The divide and rule tactic of the British handed down to the north by Q.E. is fast breaking down. If we think this country will progress on milk and honey forget it. Before milk and honey comes battles aplenty. |
The fear factor is gone. I will expect United's rivals to keep the red devils out of the trophy cabinet for the next five years. It is now we will see and appreciate just how good Sir Alex was with a squad of average players. He was a great team builder. |
Beside ethno-religious sentimentality, what's the real problem of Buhari ?
The problem is not Buhari. The problem is that we should have moved on in our thinking of what our problems are and how to go about solving them. The problem is that these people you run around have monumental baggage coming from way back (the birth of this country), scores to settle, unclaimed dividends (if you please) and they view this country in the same way they did 40 years ago. How do I know this. We tried one, OBJ. Look how it turned out. He (OBJ) rightly tried to restructure certain institutions. Tried, but look at the conflagration it has caused. What in your thinking is Buhari going to restructure and how is he going to go about it. Tell me one tool he has at his disposal to do this. And anyway the right to resist the old order is a democratic right. Take it from me I have nothing against the APC. It is the best thing to happen in the political space in the last decade but let it be absolutely different from what we have now not just the back of the same coin. The fact that PDP dug up strong man OBJ doesn't mean the APC needs a stronger man. No. It just needs new thinking, new ideas. |
Parnassuss: Let it noted that this Igbo man will willfully, consciously and overtly vote in that murderer of Igbos, Buhari. This is not a fancy dress parade or a beauty contest. Who is better than who will never change Nigeria or move this country forward. Every coup plotter since 1966 has stated his claim: faulted his predecessor and proposed better. How has the nation fared since. That should be your concern. This country has known very, very few years when we can all agree that the preceding year wa better. There is something beyond the office of the president (that we so highly vault and worship) that is important and we are totally overlooking. They have come and gone. Elect Buhari today. Max eight years. Then what. |
That's why its better to build institutions rather than hang around individuals when its obvious this country has no foundation for lasting peace and prosperity aka no structure. And when I say people who hala about corruption in themselves have thresholds beyond which they compromise, standards which they themselves cannot maintain, people they will rather excuse then its obvious we are heading no where. To say the least many responses are just that, disappointing. The proponents of competence, performance, honesty will overlook this report and excuse the man and the rest involved. When I take exception to Buhari and even Murtala (both, celebrated heros in some eyes) I know what am saying because we know their past. We know what they did in the 70's and they cannot deny the fact that they contributed to the problems of Nigeria in no small measure. The very country they hope to fix tomorrow. But they donot worry me. What disappoints is the present generation of super political intellectuals that have it all worked out that: just elect this man (no matter at what cost) and all our problems will be solved. I just wonder. |
nicago: Are they ex-boys?? OMGEx-boys of where or what |
firetrap: Yes the alpha jets are old, but it does not mean that they are not well maintained. If age determined how well military hardware should function then half the American naval and air force fleet would have been grounded or retired from serviceBe serious. Most fighter jets of the alpha jet era in the western world have been retired. The Brits have all but phased out the harriers, jaguars and the tornadoes are on their way out. Same in france and the us. There's no reason why this country cannot purchase at least ten new fighter jets at an average of 50 million a piece every year and replace our entire fleet every thirty years or so. We should not be taking alpha jets into combat in 2013. Its suicidal, period. |
Mindependent: Because that is what you guys love to seeAnother myth. It is rather a competition between the female folk for attention, period. A rush to the bottom. When you consider the spectre of G.U.Y.S - Gentlemen, Urbane, Yuppies and Sadists, choose whom you seek to please. One shoe doesn't fit all. |
plaetton: ^^^And to think that the victims of these acts are the very women themselves albeit across the street because let's be frank those who will look and seek to acquire are those who desire to replace the ones they have at home. I just call it the chinese syndrome. Make it abundantly available, cheap and ultimately worthless.... And of course make more and more as the value falls. |
Frankbaro: Wonder if people still pay gate fees at clubs, except strip clubsI don't know. I don't run them but you must have some sort of income from somewhere and I guess the patrons will have to provide that or is it a charity or some salvation army recreational centre. You tell me. |
Frankbaro: There are only three reasons why a popular guy like Don Jazzy will close down his club for not making enough doughWell next time he will go to the Japanese to invent robots who will man the gates and collect the dough without 'looking face' and perhaps tear down the bar and switch to using automated drinks dispensers on PoS. Wetin we no go see. |
Nigerians. If banks are closing branches and downsizing we will all hear how wicked the owners are. What is the difference. Harsh operating environment, inimical regulatory policies, internal fraud, loan failures and a host of other avoidable things Don Jazzy will have been put through by the public that wants the best but more often than not offers the worst while blaming government and everyone but themselves. You dress up, drive through traffic to a club and you can't pay for simple drinks. This country is just a stink pit. That's how they ruined everything. Nigerian Airways, Nitel, Phcn and every naïve but well meaning investor. We deserve everything we see and feel in this country. |
Walther PPK.... licensed to kill or be killed....take him awaay. |
My definition of cosmopolitan will be the lack or absence of ethnic enclaves. In that regards no city north of the Niger qualifies including your Jos where I once resided. Lagos tops the list for obvious reasons though it has a long way to go. The politics at all levels is still controlled by the yoruba tribe. That is not ideal. |
kevoh: 200 people with 4 dependants (Wife,2 kids and 1 younger relative) for example that makes 800 people who are going to be affected.I do understand your plight but your tone is too negative. Spare a thought for the company. If it doing too well they won't be downsizing. Well they can go ahead and get BETTER jobs but your well meaning prayers should be that they become employers of labour so they may see how easy it is. |
salt 1: Not really! This is how error starts: from suggestion, to instruction, to law, to doctrine!Exactly. A lot of wierd doctrines and practices found in churches started this way; following after the thoughts and customs of men. That's why Jesus came; to set us free, absolutely free to focus on God not feelings. |
