If I were him I would take time to ask a few questions particularly about the offers coming. Europe and foreign soccer is no longer el-dorado to Nigerian players. Since his coach Keshi more or less led the way thirty years ago we've heard the good, the bad and the ugly stories. Nigerians have played in up to 70 percent of ALL clubs in Europe at one time or the other so nothing by way of expo is hidden. Information makes for good decision.

He will not ask all not to get confused but good agents, good club managers, good leagues can be found out.
I hope you know age is not on Mba's side, so he really does'nt have the Luxury of waiting all day for a Transfer window to open up.
Neither do I think he should panic and jump on the next bus. The impression we have is that these opportunities abroad just appear and vanish. Far from it. Out there they have sophisticated scouting systems which can track players over long periods. If there is any concern it is that he appears for the Eagles at the next showing - the Confed Cup. If he remains an international then, the offers will even multiply. We must understand what gives value to these players and hope they work towards that.

But like I said. Except if there's some hidden defect known only to the car dealer what is the rush to buy or sell.
Sports › Re: Sunday Mba Seeks Dream Europe Move by Reference(m): 8:11pm On Feb 12, 2013
Honestly I don't know what he should do. I think his choices will be best served by himself alone. What his priorities should be will be informed by facts, secrets not open to us but are important. The key one here is his age. This will determine how much is left in the tank and whether there remains good prospects for personal growth and development.

If his tank is heavy then he can enter Europe at the fringes and work his way up. If his tank is going, going then he better wait for a big money move and a long contract. And when I say big money I mean relative to his present position. My two dinars.

Afam4eva: The people that have waited for over 5 hours at the National stadium have been disappointing. The eagles just made a brief stop and left. I think they're heading to the presidential villa where Jonathan and his PDP co-horts will take the glory and list this as one of the transformational achievements. See the way the eagles just deserted for once-happy Nigerians that were delighted to see them to go dine with ndi-Oshi. Tufiakwa.
See what I mean. This is just wrong. Everyone who knows football knows its all about the fans. How long after the Olympics does it take Obama to see Team USA, or the Super Bowl champs, weeks, months. But they see their fans first. The next day. Here, big men first and they monopolise everything.

Rebsy: ode! What wrong wit them landing in Abj as well? U dunno d significance of the Federal Capital again abi na lag b d venue of d reception ni? Smh!
My dear. Take it from me, I live there partly. That city has no soul. Nobody comes from there. If it is political rallies fine but concerning matters that touch the heart, no way. The National Stadium is hardly ever filled when the Eagles play there but in Calabar, Benin or even Kaduna, it is jam-packed everytime.

And like I said earlier sports and politics don't mix. However we rejoice with the team and once again congratulate them. If not for the tight schedule of the foreign based players a tour of real cities such as Lagos, Onitsha, Benin, Portharcourt, Kaduna and of course Calabar where it all started will have been lovely. 19 years out in the cold, ended.

mathskill: Everything that has a begining has an end.If APC truly materializes then one thing is certain and that is the demise of PDP as the ruling party and hence the presidency.
I don't think exchanging one dominant party with another is the way democracy works at best. The problem is not what people do with power. It is what power does to people. Any system without equal and opposite reactivity is inherently unstable. In statics it is in disequilibrium. That's why dod (dividends of democracy) are hard to come by.

Like I said last week, the best run states in Nigeria today are those in tough contention either in recent past or to come shortly e.g Imo, Edo, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Lagos, Ondo, etc., while those with arangees in perpetuity relax in squalor. E.g. Abia, Cross-River, Plateau, Nassarawa, Delta, Kogi, etc. Even Anambra with a weakening opposition has allowed Peter Obi to exhale and slow down.

Yomieluv: More kudos to the lady in question, not some brazilian hair,bb porsche type of lady. She dedicated her time to the pursue of knowledge, and not some killing, and unproductive schemes like a typical ninja Nigeria lady.
Oh dear. There are lots of Porsche BB esque men ou there too you know. I think the pursuit of noble ideals is a good thing though their impending departure is a mistake and a loss to Nigeria. What we may have gained is the fact they were so busy they could only manage one child.

How I wish such ideals were universal in Nigeria then their wouldn't be the rush and crush at campus gates at least at the bachelor's party.

Now whether BB girls and toy boys contribute to our collective suffering and underdevelopment is open for debate.

For me extremes are always to be avoided. Only rats run along walls. Study hard only if you can cause a change, make an impact, like develop a BB. But by all means buy one so that it all works out and 'twit' hard on it so there's no time for babies.

Sports › Re: Player Rating - Nigeria Vs Burkina Faso AFCON Final by Reference(m): 9:53am On Feb 11, 2013
Blackbody20: I see this present eagles winning another AFCON come 2015.
In 1994 after a five-year build up starting in 1989 we won the Nations Cup and were whiskers away from the quarter finals at USA 94, ranked No. 1 in Africa and 9th in the world. Sure to win the Nations Cup in 1996. Then came politics. Abacha's spat with Mandela, Nigeria's withdrawing from South Africa 96, CAF banned us from Burkina Faso 98 and a generation of stars rotted away. CAF saw the AFCON gloss had faded without us and awarded us AFCON 2000.

By then the team had changed, coaches had gone and Ikpeba indecision at the spot reflected Nigerian soccer direction.

Lesson. Sports and politics don't mix. Poetic justice? We won after 19 years in South Africa who hosted in 96 against Burkina Faso who hosted when we were banned and whose only appearance in the final was that year.

Haus of Dinma: The team is still a work in process, dem try but they can only get better. Passing, finishing and ball control wasn't that good. But my best players were Moses and I liked Musa's pace & Mba's goal. Keshi has his work cut out if they are to qualify for the World Cup. Hope the NFF gives him a free hand, pays salaries when due, and organizes more constructive friendlies. We need to play Egypt, England, the USA, and other teams with pace otherwise we no go win single match for the World cup next year

Anyhow sha, regardless. Up super eagles, super eagles for life. I designed a shirt right after the match, and will wear the eagles proudly on my chest all week. grin

It was a final. They were as tense as the rest of us and except if you are a Spain or Brazil there would be misplaced passes , indecisive runs and tactical overload. When the qualifiers start they will be relaxed, play better, but hopefully not conceited.

mbulela: Glad we won but i've found the quality of this competition low.
I concur but like cream we have risen to the top. Generally, North African teams once heralded for their techical proficiency are all in decline I think due to the flagging demand for their players in Europe. Some west african teams have come to the end of their productive cycles such as Mali and Cote D'Ivoire while others like Ghana and Nigeria suffer from youth soccer backlash. Cameroun is an administrative mess.

I personally think that African football still has some way to fall before problems facing individual countries are addressed. Unfortunately success like Nigeria's sometimes tends to mask underlying problems. E.g. If we won without this and that. Why should we do or have them.

Another tragedy is CAF which does nothing whatsoever in pushing for development by enforcing standards amongst its members. As long as the cash comes in, no worries.

Francex: YES SIR I AM
Its a long tradition. Nothing special. They just act as mementos and build up into a great collection of memorabilia over the sporting life of an athlete that in many cases signifies the athletes personal worth. If they are signed it worths more.

The better a footballer the greater his chances of amassing a huge collection because quite frankly he's likely to feature in many different competitions and get to play against a large number of people particularly equally good players with valuable names.

You can imagine what Lionel Messi's Argentina apended shirt will be worth in 30 years if you managed to get it off him after losing the World Cup finals.

For collectors it is also great fun. You're welcome me lady.
