thirdeye: @Jarus, there is nothing bad about the title honestly I also strived soo hard to be rich then in school, and if the op feels this impresses him/her to post on Nairaland no problem, however I would have loved to see young guys making money doing some businesses or using their creativity I would have been green with envy because I also tried unsuccessfully to do same when I was in school but to see prostitutes been glorified this way with this kind of promotion then something is wrong. And for Seun to now move it to front page is an endorsement. But lets leave it.....This is what I'm trying to say. People have fundamentally differing views. While you view this as promoting and encouraging 'prostitution' and other vices some other person may view it as naming and shame-ing. Perhaps those personalities have created a false impression off campus. So you can never tell. Some people think through things and are not easily taken apart by the razzmatazz. |
I personally don't see anything fundamentally wrong with this thread. It may not carry more substance than casual informative but there are tons of others out there. And like I always say any attempt at censorship is a double edged sword. Seun be wary of reconstructive opinions. |
Maybe octopus dey inside de water... hic or crocodile... hic. |
Another load has come. I predicted by the time the smoke had cleared Keshi will be up 100 million naira. Is anyone keeping the tally. |
A very powerful man once said that power is deemed more powerful when sparingly used. The Senate only have powers to summon and issue arrest warrant, not to convict. If Maina is arrested and dragged to the Senate house today, the question is what next. There are far more intelligent ways to handle certain things. Does it mean that Maina's present office is shielding him from prosecution that he must be sacked before being prosecuted or is sacking the punishment ad-JUDGED adequate by the senate as the right price for his offense? The Presidency is very correct, at least on paper. Every right thinking person knows that the civil service is one of the toughest places to sack a confirmed employee, not even a cleaner. This was built in by the same Senate to shield civil servants from political victimization. If Maina is sacked today, he will go to court and will easily win his case unless he is disciplined by the civil service following the established procedure. I've got no love for Maina but our Senators should stop behaving like the lower house. They are meant to be more mature and less exuberant. First, refer their case to EFCC/ICPC, mount political pressure on these executive agencies to get quick results. These agencies will then charge the man to court and possibly convict him if found guilty. But no!, they want their ego massaged...and immediately!!! But more importantly is the way the Senate is going about this whole issue. They are being unnecessarily emotional and taking it very personal. They have now opened themselves up to more loopholes. One civil servant- Maina- has held a 109 member Senate captive and they are crying like babies to the President to help them save face by pushing the police and sacking the man as if we are in the military era. Next time they want to use their powers of summon, they should first seek better and more mature ways of handling the issue. Again, power is deemed more powerful when sparingly used.
Very correct but every day it is the Presidency and the President that pays the price in political capital. Perception in Nigeria is stronger than fact. |
grafikii: Imagine one knocks earth off it's orbit and we lose gravity, scaryI'm not even sure that can happen. The kind of mass and the speed of its impact that will stop the earth's rotation will first ignite and incinerate every thing and then core out, fragment the planet. Anything smaller will be of a denser material than anything found on earth. But a 50m meteorite. Man that's goodnite. |
remecy: This disease called P.E is it sudden or it grows over time, pls am curious. Its not a disease per se. Its a 'situation'. There are predisposing factors to the formation of clots. But how big they grow, move and ultimately clog your system is purely chance. |
pappilo: http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/pilot-health/64428-dvt-blood-clot-pe-threat-pilots.htmlIts good to share information and experiences. Don't let the quest for ignorance on parts of this forum disuage you. When things happen people ask questions and by so doing learn. P.E is a threat out there. It goes beyond the late artiste and situations like these afford the opportunity to discuss them. I travel a lot, I mean a lot throughout the country by air and road and I've had some one in my party die suddenly after a trip sometime ago. And except one will just play dumb you cannot but ask why. Another thing about P.E. If you've been in vigorous activity for a while before 'long confinement' such as sportsmen, be wary. |
Gluckdude: Why has no pilot died of the so called diseaseThe health standards of aircrews are much higher. They undertake medical examinations regularly and for flights above 5 or 6 hrs (I think ) there is a relief crew to allow them nap, walk around and chat up the pretty stews. Anyway circulatory problems is a prime killer of pilots. |
opee1231: okay now which one are we to believe? CEO of Kennis music said she complained of severe headache which was the first thing i came across from gist express, here is another one saying she died of pulmonary embolism...pls hows that related, or pple just formulate their own story cus she jst got back from the state and its still winter there or what??Of course it could have been the sign of an impending stroke. Who knows. |
Aspirin can be deadly when you take too much of it. Its advisable to take the "baby aspirin" which has less concentration that the adult.
Well, if you don't exceed 400 migs a week I think for a grown buffalo. |
jennykadry: Pulmonary embolism is a clot that travels to the lungs .DVT, stroke, surgery, etc can cause this? Sir how did cold enter into the equation?Exactly. Frequent long distance travellers recognise this danger and take aspirin to thin their blood. However it is an addictive drug and dangerous in frequent dosage. But for someone that young there would be other predisposing factors. I can only think of drugs or genetics. |
EmmyDe25: Ds is crazy!! A Nov post making front page in FebDon't worry the chap is still there. Attitude. |
Meristem: Simple. Spend 500 card per day.Attitude. |
ZACHIE: your writing spells your total attitude to life.Good one. |
OgeJesus: Over 16 major roads is being constructed in Aba Abia statePerhaps Portharcourt road via Park is not one of them. It is so filthy that I was certain if you fell into one of those puddles in the early morning rain and took a mouthful you'd die instantly of bacterial infection. |
immortalvoices: Mean while in a sunday service...On who if I may ask. If your belief system operates that way fine, it will work for you and you will get the results. Unfortunately my belief system doesn't work that way so he can't impress me, attract me nor influence me in any way. As a Christian I place Jesus first not any man, miracles nor organisation because all these things can and will pass away. I strongly recommend you check again, very sincerely what or who you guys put your trust in. For me if all the pastors in the world resign and all the churches close down it will not affect my faith one bit. |
Carlmax: Am sure he promised her a "Valentine Blast" but she couldn't read between d lines... RIPHa, ha, ha. Don't piss off Pistol Pistorius. |

Royal2011: Pls note that our ranking will only surge after consideration of the AFCON matches. What helped us were some of the friendliest we played before AFCON.By next month we should climb to about 15th position in the world. The nations cup just ended so the matches were not put into consideration. This ranking was for the month of February. So lets wait till match before we complain ohhhhhhhhhhhhhOver the bar. The result of matches go into the ranking algorithm the moment the match commissioner files. The only way we can move higher in the short term is either by playing friendlies very quickly or waiting for a higher ranked country to slide past us due to bad results or inactivity. |
chiswaggs: waterThey are not the same thing. Water is neutral and will rehydrate you. It will replace waste or temp. control fluids. But it will not replace lost salt nor energy. |
babe redefined: Yes. Too much of everytin is not good. Too much intake of sugary tins cause more harm n no good( xcept for d sweet taste dt doesn't last up to 30secs). In addition to tooth decay, it cld lead to diabetes mellitus, obesity(which has its many adverse effects), renal failure, just to mention a few. Flee frm sugary tins n hv a beta lifeYou always hear this: too much sugar causes diabetis. That's one big lie we can't seem to get round and this half truth continues to kill. Sugar is absolutely vital for body functions. There are as many reasons why the body cannot handle sugar as there are sources of sugar. I know people who appear not to have touched the thing for years but still developed diabetis. The bottom line is lifestyle. Those who take in excess energy should be those who burn excess energy. Coca-Cola was developed to deliver energy. It was classed as a sports drink but unfortunately became a popular recreational beverage. If you are not a 'field man' like me but your daily activities take place in a 6 by 6 cell what the heck do you need energy for. |
mukina2: scumtwat cornerAh, ah, Muki. |
The Udeme one has continued to fascinate me after many years. The thought of your average pilot boozing away in the evening gives me the shivers. Drink and airplanes don't mix at all. That is if flying is your occupation. |
Symphony007: Since our independence in 1960, africa has been the center piece of our foreign policy but it is obvious that we are'nt respected, even in the ecowas, ghana is leading coup against our interests in the african union!! So what the heck, it's time for a change. "nigera as the center piece of our foreign policy" let us work on ourselves, and when we're great we won't go looking for friends, friends will form lines seeking our acquintance!!You are half right. Yes we should work on ourselves before expending ourselves abroad. But if you think being more successful will douse the negative passion against us then you are mistaken. Even the US, China and the EU have a harder time engaging with us unlike other African countries. |
Tstark: Ask yourselves if you would still be saying the same thing if Celtic had won the match and Efe had scored the winning goal.Celtic pay this guy's salary and not the NFF, his first priority should always be his main source of income [Celtic] and not you Nigerians or the NFF.Be real. There is NO WAY the disaster will have been prevented with Efe playing CB. Take it from me. You cannot cheat nature. Players who play Saturday & Wednesday qualifiers never return the same thoughtless of a full tournament. He's been away for over a month playing with an entirely new team, a new coach, in a different position, against different opponents, in a different competition and an alien soccer culture. Heck, it is summer in South Africa and bleeding winter in Europe. Freezing in Glasgow and he should excel within 12 hours after a 10 hour flight. Haba Celtic. You had it coming. I said same immediately on this forum when his name popped up and woke up this morning to see 0-3. Don't worry Celtic. Efe the defender will score 4 in Turin. |
Babamide: We could blame the coach for including him in the team, but I guess he was indispensable for him to have played 90mins. The main controversy is why the nations cup is played in January considering that most leagues are on at that time and even the transfer window is open. The nations cup should be played in the summer!Really. And why can't European leagues play out in the summer instead. Must we always be subservient. CAF has already bowed to FIFA and shifted to odd years'. The Nation's Cup is held in January because it offers the best weather in much of Africa where infrastructure is deficient. The match meant more to Celtic than Efe. It is they who should have thought it through. It was a bad gamble and they lost. Smacks of unprofessionalism and arrogance. Sorry. |
Because we're loud, proud and in their face. Nigerians do not turn back from any other. One out of every five negro is a Nigerian. Home to the largest diversity of cultures on earth. Home to the largest diversity of human and material resources in Africa. Centred between northen and southern extremes of the continent. Spilled blood in almost every conflict in modern times. And you can go on and on and on. Do they hate Nigeria ? No. They are incensed. Do we have friends? No. Just allies. Why all these? Same thing I found out about the USA from Chatham House years ago. And I agreed too. I think we should aspire to be more like China. |
edoyad: It's natural for a neutral fan to support the underdog. I was rooting for Celtic last night, that doesn't mean I hate Juve. And does David Mark look like a football fan. You just don't get it. |
7842I: So, for your mind, after doing a proper handover and agreeing with his house of assembly, he will just go on air and announce to the masses that he has cancer? How many times have you been sick and announced it to everybody around you?. We Nigerians are hyppooccrittess, just because this man is governor you will want to subject him to inhumane treatments in his trying period! That is so heartless of you!You know why I like Nairaland. You learn stuff everyday so atimes I just read at least to understand the way people view issues. This is one of them: 'subjecting the governor to inhumane treatment in his trying period' I thought fundamentally people shared with those they love and hide from those they don't. |
Remains poor statesmanship. Can't see what this prodigal son type explanation serves after he's back. Anyway it is a Nigerian thing. That's why I prefer institutions to individuals. If the state hasn't suffered no problems. Life goes on. |
McAdem: Stunning news for Celtic! Efe Ambrose starts, despite playing for Nigeria in Sunday's 1-0 African Cup of Nations final win over Burkina Faso. The big defender only arrived back in Scotland this morning. This is brutal. Those guys have no empathy whatsoever. |
