European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Why Is Barcelona Always Favoured By Refs? by Reference(m): 7:19pm On Apr 18, 2012
doublecross: If you must know, yesterdays match deserved at least 1 red card. Do you watch the screen of your tv or the back. Because it's like you did not watch the match at all. a penalty was also deserved but was just overlooked by the refree. A foul was commited on Gomez yesterday. Even mourinho knows that.
My friend that is why it is important to retire from fanhood. Neutrals want to see a good game of football not a good game of refreeing. This means keeping both teams playing the game. Good refs restrain from issuing cards early because these days the con is as bad as the foul. The more cards or fouls you are willing to give the more the players will seek them.

I watch games to appreciate great play and good goals. You may watch just to see who wins and loses. We don't see the same thing because I am not a fan. I saw a great game between two sides yesterday and I'm happy Webb wasn't drawn in. Press comments universally said both sides were satisfied. That is what we want to see.

doublecross: I am a Barca Fan for life and that wount change. I have never been sentimental in football in this life. If a team is Good, I admit it is. The truth about the ref favouring baca issue is just not true. The truth is clear to see. Barca is the best club in the whole wide world which all other teams know. Whenever they clash with barca, what they do is put all thier strenght to make sure barca is disturbed. Jose Mourinho is very good at that. They will play physical football to the fullest instead of playing football the way it ought to be played. It is clear that when you are prone to playing physicall football, you are 100% liable to commit a foul. I dont know why the stupid Realmadrid and chelsea fans complain when they commit a foul in the 18 yard box and a penalty is awarded. The case of van persie Given a red card is also clear. The refree blew the whistle and he still went ahead to kick the ball. I wonder if he is deaf and he claims to be a professional. Please all you beefers better leave BARCELONA alone. Its the best club and will forever be.
You're a fan so how can you see these things. Fans don't see things wrong against their clubs as a loving wife sees nothing wrong about her husband. If you really want to enjoy football retire from fanhood.

When people are increasingly complaining about certain things the game is becoming poisoned. Suddenly the ref and his decisions become the focus of attention. This is bad.

The spanish league is becoming a refrees weekly show. Just look at Howard Webb yesterday. Greatly criticised in England but had an outstanding match not buying into the antics of Ribery and the grass loving Angel de Maria. If it involved Barca they will con the ref to hand a few reds out.

The commentator saying about Howard Webb, that the Spanish were not happy particularly Andres Iniesta that a red wasn't awarded in the WC final. Now why should any player think like this.

Ha, ha, ha, Mukina you're a case oh. But really with every passing match they fuel the fire of controversy but to cut them some slack, their system works for them and so they use it. It is their plan B when you don't water the pitch or cut the grass short. When under pressure their fair play integrity simply falls apart.

I mean look at their quarter-final against Milan and the penalty for shirt pulling, scandalous. I have watched over a dozen matches since then in all major leagues and haven't seen such a thing even though corner after corner is all pull and push.

Laws are only respected if they are administered equitably and if Barca has a few laws working exclusively for them then respect for them begins to wane and though they may have a few victims in Chelsea, Real, Arsenal, Milan and a few Spanish clubs now, the more clubs that get exposed to this affliction the more the backlash.

Barca is the best club in the world by miles, they have the best team, best player and arguably the best coach, they don't need the best refereeing decisions to win matches because in football you can't always win. That is the principle behind the fair play campaign.

This is the basis of any kind of relationship, a listening and understanding ear. If a man or woman stands before her partner like a suspect before a case officer the relationship will be as bad as a jail sentence and when you read through all the relationship threads posted on the front page, the one thing missing admist the challenges is effective communication and not just speaking but like the type that takes place between pilots and ATC's where everything is said twice and repeated by the listener to confirm full comprehension. Relationships built that way never develop mounting challenges.

TisaBone: I did not say aggressive, but assertive.

the type of woman that will love you unconditionally, but as soon as you mess up, will tell you your shit stinks. the type that doesn't take any mess, and doesn't believe in second chances and will leave you in a heartbeat if you are not acting right. the type of woman that carries her own weight. does this turn you on, or are you not man enough to handle such a woman?
This is the kind of mish-mash that the feminine movement struggles with. Just plain contradiction. On one hand you have love unconditionally, while on the other no hesitation to dump and jump. Is this assertion or confrontation. Drive on one side of the road please .

I've said it times without number the most important thing in a marraige is the quality of the relationship not the quantity of material attainment. The couple were just deceiving each other. The woman probably thought wealth could probably contain the hurt and the man thought, oh well if she's okay like this she won't mind my own building.

No communication, selfishness, taking each other for granted and finally divergent aspirations. When was the day she lost him. The day she decided the economic losses counted more than marital ones and exchanged her place with an outsider. The man is utterly wrong in his move and deserves everything that comes his way including judicial intervention on her behalf but it is obvious she took her eye of the ball and crashed the union.

Exactly my thoughts. Majoring on the minor and minoring on the major. Now the money issue has been settled, the relationship is broken. So it is with many couples out there, the rat race has turned them into animals with no passion for their spouses or children. They were busy building business and house and forgot to build a home.

I think 13 years is very much in line with this kind of offence under British law and this is simply because the country does not have people like this offending regularly. If we feel hard done by let us question our own criminal justice system because it is an epidemic here. In Britain he was essentially washing dirty linen in public. In Nigeria he robbed and maimed. This is the origin of the crime.

For all I know there could have been some clandestine tet' a tet at the highest levels to soften the rap. Anyway all will be revealed when he lands in Nigeria after his sojourn, whether to MMA and into the hands of associates complete with cultural troupe or to NA and a 21 gun salute and brass bands. That's why I rate Nollywood or whatever its called close to the basement. Even after decades of commercial success it remains in large parts very crude and amateurish. How do you explain this. Brutish behaviour at the behest of every Jack and Jill taking snapshots on set like some picnic outing. What if the damn phone rings while the camera is rolling. C'mon. Production 101, no personal electronic device is permitted on set. Strictly enforced. Somebody is not doing his job. Maybe a lawsuit will wake these folks up.

Biblical texts are finite. The bible is only 300 pages (there about) just like Jesus Christ taught (actively) for only three years. You can't cover the spectrum of all truths in such a time and in such a book. He said let the spirit lead you in ALL truth. Arguments over texts are futile. We will swim or sink on the evience of our convictions. Sometime, somewhere, something will have told us and we will have either rejected or accepted it. That is the basis of judgement.
Christianity Etc › Re: Nothing Wrong With Alcohol, Cigarette – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome? <<Rumor?>> by Reference(m): 9:00am On Apr 17, 2012
rastamouse: Some of the arguments are as daft as they are funny. If GOD was to spell out every sin in the Bible, where do you think it would have been written? The whole world will of course not have been able to handle such texts. In HIS infinite wisdom, the FATHER of the universe decided to give us the conscience and later the HOLY SPIRIT to guide us into all truth and knowledge to know the difference between right and wrong, even when we are just babies.

In the Bible, precisely Genesis 38:9-10, GOD killed Onan (Judah's second son) for practicing the withdrawal method. Where was it written in the Bible, prior to the incident, that GOD detests such practice? Did that make GOD a bad judge?
Best post. Real truth. Well done.

jennykadry: LMAO, So in other words, women should be raised inferior grin grin

All I owe my daughters in life is to teach them how to respect everybody and husbands more. I am not raising no daughter of mine to feel inferior when she stands beside a man and take any form of abuse from men.

It is this una type of mentality that is making women stay in abusive relationships this days because they were brought up to think they cannot make it farther than men.

Tufiakwa. sad
No, no, no. Inequality and inferiority are not one and the same, except you want to create that impression. Even amongst the female siblings, except if they are twins, they are unequal, but is one inferior to the other, no. The mere fact that the gretater percentile of men marry women younger than they are establish such unions on the basis of inequality because the man probably (very subjective) has more experience in fundamentals. It certainly does not suggest superiority or inferiority between bot partners.

The ref is completely out of his depth here. This is a far bigger match than the pool derby so Webb should've taken this one. That was a foul by Terry, the ball didn't cross the line and Cech should be in the shower by now. Poor, poor decisions. Great, all action match though.

Muslim and Christian parents should have the right to protect their children and seek the same protection in public as they have in their homes. If Fashola has a problem it is with rampaging decadence in his ball park. However it is understandable that some may have certain reservations and fear prejudice. This then behoves on those given the freedom of choice the responsibility to ensure the choices of others are equally respected. History has indicated this is where the thing always breaks down. Knowing the limits.
Properties › Re: Will The Nigerian Real Estate Industry Experience A Crash? by Reference(m): 8:55am On Apr 13, 2012
Any commodity trading market driven by sentiments and without the underlying dynamics of real demand is a bubble and will experience a correction dometime down the line. Does this apply to the real estate market. I'm not sure. You have several factors interplaying here. For the top end of the market in three cities - Abuja, Lagos and PortHarcourt - the market is driven by politics & governance, commerce and the oil industry respectively. For Abuja, if the present government tightens cash flow the market will begin affected, if a new and more pro-anti corrption government is elected, many people will naturally pack their bags and leave towm. In Lagos, I think the greatest drivers are commerce which directly relates to the state of the national economy and population increases which are very rapid, so as the economy retreates, prices are held up just because of demand. PortHarcourt responds to the oil industry directly in terms of security and investment (which good international oil price brings)and this is okay at the moment. So if you want to invest in real estate like most businesses in Nigeria in any of these three markets (the most dymanic, most liquid) look at the factors likely to drive demand and act acordingly. One other thing, like most commercial transactions in Nigeria, tend to invest on the shortest possible terms. We are yet to have the policy or the will to create the enviroment for long term investment.

Da Mayor: True talk, but if you say 3.5mw is top end, what will you call 6mw. lol! as this is already being used. As i said, its a positive step, but a misplaced priority. I believe they should be spending money improving the existing infrastructure of Hydro and natural gas turbines till these renewables become more stable and affordable for developing countries to adopt.
Rgds
Sure, you're right. Even the wind thing in the north is rather strange. I thought wind farms were associated with coastal areas or hinterland mountain passes rather than flat, dry locations such as Katsina.

By the way are you into renewables. Just curious.
Politics › Re: Nigeria’s First Wind Farm Goes Onstream In Katsina by Reference(m): 6:03pm On Apr 12, 2012
Da Mayor: This post has to be a joke. Now i think the author should check the definition of "wind farm" before using the heading. the most commonly used wind turbines generate 3.5mw of electricity each. Hence i will assume there are only 3 turbines in this "farm". A standard wind farm has btw 50-200 turbines to be qualified as a "Wind farm"
Oh Nigeria! i weep for thee. Another waste project
Haba, take it easy, a 3.5mw disc is the very top end, the V12 of wind generation. There are only a hand full installed globally and for a pilot project your first car should not be a Ferrari. Cost is another factor. A couple of years ago it was the equiv. of N 1 billion per megawatt - installed. That is steep, higher than coal, gas and only comparable to nuclear so I don't blame them. The cash may not be there and who knows, the conditions out there. The word here is caution.

Rogerss: come, why be say na bad things this guy dey see?
Because bad news sells. Ask the media. Ask CNN. And it doesn't take a genius to know that the vast majority of humanity surrenders, and I mean surrender everything - their time, their treasure, their dignity to either fear, greed or both. And what greater fear can there be other than the fear of death itself. Once you can spread the fear of death around you can get men to do the most unbelievable things.

Now for Christians, should I ask who holds the power of death. The same person who brought the GOOD NEWS and put an end to the fear of death. Now who is trying hard to awaken these fears.... tell me. I don't understand this man. I've said it time and again. I have nothing against him or his church but many things simply don't add up when refracted by the gospel.

Corruption, corruption, corruption. This is the undoing of the NSE. The last major story we heard from that sector was a mud bath between the regulator and the regulator's regulator. And since the financial world revolves around trust, the NSE is in its natural state now. There is no hope for real growth in the forseeable future. Only high wire acts will scrounge a few bucks here and there until they themselves get caught out. Personally I haven't looked at my portfolio for about a year. Certain businesses do not fit Nigerians. This am afraid is one of them.

My dear, I think this is inverted. Marraige is not a load carrying exercise or institution. It is 2 + 2 = 4. Not 2 + 2 - 3 = 1. You don't start that way. The lady should be looking at ways to enhance the man's life and enable him maximise his potentials and likewise him.

If the man is a career criminologist, psychologist or counsellor he may be equiped for the challenge. If he is not, all the love in the world will not keep that union together. She should solve that problem before saying I do.

Once the rocket has lifted off with that defect you cannot call it back in one piece. Love is an internal potential energy that expends at a rate equivalent to resistance or load carried. Do not over estimate it.

Poster please ignore those who seek to make light of this issue. It will be a problem and that is guaranteed. If it will not cost you time, it will cost you money or psychologically drain you and thus threaten your relationship.

Since it has come to your knowledge (you're lucky), I suggest you sit her down and draw boundaries where you are prepared to and not to go. Families are comprised of husband, wife and children and does not include brothers and sisters. If her family suffers a bad background it is a criteria for marraige. It can mar your future. You are not her parents so you will not be able to ultimately influence him or his lifestyle.

Due diligence is required in ALL matters involving couples. Know your limits and discuss them. Project future challenges and not over estimate your capabilities. I see many couples who ignore or make light issues of health, finances, compatibility, family and so on only for love to vanish and their union to fracture down the line.

Think and plan well cos when you're in you're in. It will become your responsibility.

We've said it time again. The police is a law enforcement agency not a guard or personal protective agency. These kinds of jobs are for agencies like the Secret Service in the US for top government officials. For top private individuals the police can license crack private security outfits led by experienced retired cops in a close working relationship thus enabling them to bear very light arms on a need basis but without the powers of arrest, interrogation or deadly force.

The rate at which the police is going, the next picture you will see is the police dehusking groundnut for the man or chasing frogs for dinner.
