Politics › Re: Boko Haram: Fg Considers New Law On Explosives by Reference(m): 4:02pm On Mar 04, 2012
grin grin grin Classic. These people work like Swiss time pieces. I knew they would come up with a 'solution' fast with of course economic benefits for the 'chosen'. But really, must every misfortune be exploited to make money. Is there any explosive substance that isn't a chemical compound. I don't get it. They are making the transportation safe for who, the militants?. Am I missing anything here. What stops the militants from getting this secret stuff from where it is getting its Dynamite or C4. Or is it a special substance invented by the Chinese specifically for Nigeria unknown to man. These folks are kidding.

The problem lies with corruption and complacency in enforcement of current rules controlling the administration and use of explosives so the solution lies with tackling that. And though we know corruption is nigh impossible to eradicate our best solution will be to ban the civilian trade and use of all categories of explosives and explosive paraphenalia for a limited time period while stocks on the black market are run down by robbers and militants. Of course all warehoused stock should be handed over to the Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers who will administer all blasting at quarries, mines and engineering sites for the duration of the emergency, and beyond if necessary. The military are at the forefront of the war against this insurgency so it will be up to them to ensure the tools are denied their opponents.

The ongoing mobile device interface exhibition in Barcelona is a sheer wonder as to the future of telephony in everyday activities and of course touch screen devices rule the roost.
Politics › Re: Why We Can’t Build Refinery In Nigeria-shell by Reference(m): 2:18am On Mar 03, 2012
I'm sorry but I can't see a country industrializing and developing on the back of imported oil. It will not happen. There is absolutely nothing wrong in refining. It is strategically important. Indonesia used to be a member of OPEC but pulled out when it became a net importer of crude on the back of its economic growth and industrialization., i.e. it refines every barrel of oil it produces for itself. That is where we should be heading. If Shell believes it is our portion to remain a honey pot, a raw material exporter, slaves to them for all eternity then they have miscalculated and are speaking to the wrong people. Their exploitative and feudalistic model under whatever guise is past. Their lies will no longer hold. If they are not prepared to partner Nigeria to realise its aspirations they should start divesting now and give others the benefit of doubt because when this government retires they will see in the Delta what they have never seen before. Enough is enough.

Djokovic what happened?
He's exhausted. And this will be his undoing this season. He won so many tourney's and earned so many points last season that defending them will break even his iron clad will. Unfortunately unlike in team sports tennis players have to peak every day, every match. Its a very hard sport.

Having said this, please take nothing away from Andy. He's a very good player. One of the few on tour having a positive head to head against Fedex. His problem has always been upstairs, a perenial choker. But with Ivan the Terrible in his corner, perhaps the good days are here. Its always nice to have more competition at the top.

I personally feel its a bit hasty. They should have waited to see if there is any chance the yuan will be allowed to float before pulling the trigger, however I can understand why we should be fleeing the dollar because quite frankly I cannot see anything beyond gloom about the US economy. They will never be able to contain their deficit in decades to come and they have a couple of massive, money burning wars to come. The dollar is clearly in a long term decline. Gold on the other hand is also a no no. Far too high for the reserve pot at today's prices. One minor adjustment and the bubble disintegrates, another legacy of the shaky dollar.
Politics › Re: Why We Can’t Build Refinery In Nigeria-shell by Reference(m): 12:26am On Mar 03, 2012
These loss making refineries are located in regions without competitive advantage. We have excellent light sweet crude that's cheap to crack and can guarantee them attractive margins on lower feedstock prices if they are honest and willing. That man should stop being naughty and narrow minded and look at the big picture. When the global recession abates and consumption surges all those refineries will be fired up again. Our need for refineries is purely strategic, we don't need a CEO to tell us what we need.

Anyway he should chill out, China through CNOOC will do the businees and the gas reserves Shell is eyeing they will not get. Enough rubbish from them.

So where were the top shots who scored five goals in three matches and the most prolific african striker in the UK. Keshi needed microscope, telescope or periscope to find them. Keshi ain't seen nothing yet. We are in the age of player power not player performance. All Rwanda needs in Abuja is a strike on goal and no continental footy for us till 2015.

Its become rather unlikely. When you see the confidence exhibited by coach 'Michu' in interview and contrast that with the deflated body language of Stevie K then its panic stations. The synopsis is clear. Roaches found in fizzy drinks is not an indictment of the bottle itself but the factory that produced it. The NFF is hell bent on a path of self destruction. Sports › Re: What Are The Ingredients To Fix The Super Eagles? [serious Matter] by Reference(m): 10:19am On Mar 01, 2012
Simple. A reconstitution of the NFF. We must have a solid technical department which is the sole administrator of football development. They draw a road map towards raising talents from the roots and see these players to the end of their shelf life. They evaluate players and pool resources from which coaches tap into in preparing teams for competitions. In summary they leave the coaches to do one job and one job alone - prepare teams for competition just like a factory manager.

Nigeria is not ripe for the role of team manager whereby an individual scouts, selects and trains players. It cannot work. It will only lead to sentimentally induced somersaults. The other day U17 coach was proposing to travel to Europe to scout players. Keshi started building a team, won a couple of matches but on the eve of the party dismantled his team and risked players some of which he has NEVER MET before. On what basis did players like Victor Moses play. Reputation and 6 hr training. That is risky, gambling. You will not even do that for a friendly thoughtless of away qualifier and it smacks of no planning and certainly no development policy. So a functional and competent technical department first. It is the leg that carries the much mouthed drawing board.

@valacious,correction Zambia won the nations cup with a predominantly african based team and not an home based team. Besides how many Zambian footballers play professional football in europe. I can bet u dat if the coach had an option he would use players based in europe
Football culture in Southern Africa is all the same. Within Cosafa they play the same pattern whether South Africa or Angola. Its just like north african teams, they play the same way and west african teams have similar techniques. If the bulk of our players were in or around our league we have subsidised technical training and all they need is tactics but when you have a pot of english beef, german sausage, italian fish, russian vegetables you cannot simply throw them in a pot and expect them to meal out well. It will never happen. The 72 hr window FIFA gives is not enough to unlock diverse club mentality and engage your own techniques. It is foolhardy to think Etuhu and Joel Obi will gel in 48 hrs. It is not an error that 8 Barca players anchor the spanish team. See their results.

Proximity of your team players viz play patterns and practice time matters. In the 90's we could bulldoze our way with superior skills when our players played for the best clubs in Europe but that advantage is gone. Our guys are either in Russia or playing for EPL relegation candidates. So to succeed we have to rely on team work which is best served by our local lads.

All Rwanda needs now is to score in Abuja. Any goal and our team will be in disarray. We saw it with Angola, saw it with Guinea. Seen it with the Falcons and U23. Seen it one time too many. They will be extra motivated. That's why in tie's such as these serious countries such as Ivory Coast did the business in the first leg against Rwanda, moreover its not like Abuja is anything near a fortress.

See what Switzerland is doing to Argentina. See what Bosnia did to Brazil yesterday. I tell you a football team is more than a collection of players no matter how skilled. Who are the players in Zambia compared to Ivory Coast. Which cups had they won but they tamed the elephants.

Man for man Real Madrid has better players than Barca but what are the results. Keshi does not necessarily need the best players in every position but the best team at every occasion, i.e. a coalition of the willing, not the able. For Keshi to have ditched his team built over months for a group arriving 24 hrs before the game is sacriledge. It flies against all laws of soccer development. Carlos Tevez may be an excellent player and better than Dzeko and Balo put together but he just cannot walk into the team. Our coaches should stop hiding behind the often misconcieved competencies of our players and build us a solid team.

In summary the model of quick fixing with imaginary superior skills and techniques of so called foreign pros ended in the nineties. Most african teams have caught up. Today you need good team play forged by months of proximity training and closed cultural systems to qualify to qualify thoughtless of winning tournaments. The present attitude of depending on the statistics of these players in Europe without proper training will get us no where. If they cannot report long enough to camp, train, adapt and re culture then its not worth it. They may be superstars for their clubs but in the baking sun today in Rwanda they knew not each other and were gasping for breath.

They were fixated with Siasia's failures that the substance of the team's development was lost. Was it not this team that capitulated at the world cup. Siasia brought them back and tried to whip them into shape but they rebelled. Keshi the third coach started well with new material and got some generous results beating the eventual winners of the AFCON in a friendly and Liberia only a few weeks ago. Now that the party has started the proverbial dog has returned to its vomit, scattered a promising team and exchanged it with european based chaff as if what happens in Blackburn, QPR or West Brom has anything to do with African football. Certainly Rwandan's are not as stary eyed.

Just considering the facts. When was the last time the so called foreign pros won the nations cup. Zambia and Egypt back to back were home based teams with time to blend simply because football is a team sport but Keshi scattered his team of four months for 48 hour invitees who are barely capable selling the soul of his team for exotic packet shirts and perfume.

These so called foreign players can NEVER win the Nations Cup. If Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana with much superior foreign players could not beat home based Egypt or Zambia in the last 6 years, it is obvious African football has moved on. I dare say even at the world stage the top teams have the best players at home e.g. Spain while traditional power houses Argentina and Brazil with so much talent abroad suffer. Look at yesterday's friendly with Luiz commiting his Chelsea blunders but when Ganso came in the game changed.

Football has changed and left us behind. So sorry.

AS far as Govenrment is paying subsidy, the marketters can afford to hold us to ransome. This is what Jonathan and his team wanted to stop, but Nigerians said no. Until the Petroluem industry is privatised, fuel scarcity must be there.
Thank you sir. How can you demand for something you cannot control. Only market forces can guarantee the availability of essential commodities whether petrol, electricity, fertilizer or hard currency. Ask Russia or North Korea. The Buhari regime tried to anti-corrupt the import license system on essential commodities when you needed a special note from Oga to eat imported rice. Need I say how it all ended. This is one of the things our reps should be rapping on constantly. So that while a director in a 'John the Baptist' agency with a shoe string budget such as the human rights commission may be checked in and out over his career, a clerk in the PPPRA should be asset checked every last working day of the week and perhaps the police work in their underwear.

Me too. Chelsea fans should start shunning that team. They should stop watching their games. When chelsea start loosing money, they will get a good coach and not this hell bent enemy called boas.

Abrahamovic gave told him to sign new players. He was using strong head that he has a pattern he can play with these old legs.

Abeg fire this useless man!
I beg to differ. Signing new player is not a magic wand because team success is not a destination but a journey. You cannot buy it. No matter how rich you are to arrive at London from Lagos takes time. Your money can shorten it but that is all. It took Sir Alex 13 years to win the UCL. Abrahamovic almost did it in 3 years but panicked took a short cut and entered the bush. So you can buy players. But will the fans and the owners wait for the dough to rise?

The truth is that the present Chelsea as a club with the best men, money and management will take at least 3 to 5 years to win the UCL with certainty. Tournaments are not won by chance.

People may say City is riding high on money but they forget the squad has been on the up for about 4 years or so since the time of Sven. Whereas a team that constantly undermines and destabilizes itself like Arsenal bought 7 emergency players who cannot gel.

Success is somewhere in between Chelsea and Arsenal. That is small incremental improvements to avoid stagnation with patience to build team chemistry. Chelsea flings coaches and keeps dinosaurs as players while Arsenal flings players while maintaining an increasing hapless old man. I hope they don't kill him with stress.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: UCL: Napoli Vs Chelsea (3 - 1) On 21st February 2012 by Reference(m): 10:33am On Feb 22, 2012
I think people should realise that footballers like their teams are cyclical in nature. This is a unique characteristic. They depend on good individual players but also in keeping them as a unit for long to forge a strong unit. This is also the Achilles heel of teams for when individual players begin to age like for instance the parts of a car, performance deteriorates.
To avoid power loss what a good car owner or club manager will do is to keep a few spare parts in store and do preventive maintenance.

This is where you cannot fault AVB. As a driver employed by car owner Abrahamovic, he's driving a third hand jalopy that has not been serviced properly for years and the few parts changed have all been fake - ala Torres and Co.

His problem is that he has to take Oga to work everyday. Where is the time to do a full overhaul so the car breaks down from time to time despite his skills.

I think the club under Abrahamovic is to blame here. His joyride was to change drivers and left the car in shambles. Everyone knows that plenty drivers kill vehicles. Teams need constant refreshing not coaches (incl. Nigeria). Owners should realise football is cyclical. Your car must go for service. The number of days it spends off the road depends on how frequently you service it. But if you as owner want to win UCL every year you will be reluctant to service your car and with time it will completely break down.

The blip we see at Barca today is because the core of the team Iniesta and Xavi have not been regular giving new players the chance to come in and gel so that when those midgets finally wear out there wouldn't be a loss of multiple trophies.

I love the game so much I'm not a fan of any team but Chelsea fans should realise changing AVB will give them nothing. The team needs deep surgery and like Liverpool bear a couple of trophyless seasons. Your management structure and system is the villan.
