Chief, before you come under further attacks (and I guarantee you, you will) for this your weird post, I would humbly advise you review your business strategy. Your reference to the bible and christians doesn't quite follow (in my opinion of course) because though Christians buy bibles, God doesn't charge any money as gate fee to heaven. You, on the other hand want to sell an e-book about a product you intend to sell to nairalanders. That is so wrong sir. Imagine if shoprite starts charging you a gate fee to enter the mall? Go figure.
Politics › Re: Pictures Of Oshodi Market Demolition by Reptyle(m): 12:35pm On Jan 08, 2009
I feel the pain of the affected traders. But the truth is that some order must be restored to Lagos and unfortunately, there is no easier way of doing it. if there was, I am sure that this government would have adopted it. In the first place, those shanties weren't meant to be built right next to a rail road. As a matter of fact, some of the traders display their goods right on the rail tracks. As soon as they feel or hear the train approaching, they hurriedly move their wares only to display them right after the train passes. Numerous deaths have been recorded at Oshodi due to this misnomer. Surely, there's gotta be a safer, less dangerous and more hygenic and organized way of earning a livelihood.

I think this government in Lagos deserves some understanding and patience on our part to be able to do the right things to get this city back on track. For those who criticize the governor for laying so much emphasis on beautifying Lagos to the detriment of other aspects of development, I say you have a point even though its not a strong one. I strongly believe that the failure of government in Nigeria is attributable to past governments' tendencies to bite more than they can chew in trying to deal with all the issues affecting us at once. Yaradua is a clear example. Rather than continuously touting a 7-point agenda, 1 point will do - Provide energy!

My point is that if fashola can focus on restoring order and beautifying Lagos and does it reasonably well, he deserves some applause.

I'm a simpleton yet u don't understand the simple words I wrote down. I would have told you to tell me your local language so that i could translate what I wrote down but I doubt u have the capacity to understand two languages since u've barely managed to understand the english language. Anyway your reply to my post just further proves my point, just because your brain cannot fathom such success doesn't mean its not attainable. A simple response to my post stating your reasons for thinking its impossible would have sufficed.

Politics › Re: Fuel Scarcity In Nigeria Begins 6 Days To Christmas! Oil Tankers Are On Strike by Reptyle(m): 10:20am On Dec 19, 2008
This is just cheap blackmail on the part of the tanker drivers. They have turned themselves to demi-gods who seek to operate outside the laws that we all operate under. I agree that Lagos roads are bad, but they definitely will not be fixed overnight. I therefore, see nothing wrong if they are restricted to moving only at night. Countless lagosians have lost their lives in accidents caused by these tankers parked on the roads; Some of them break down or park on the roads causing traffic jams all over the metropolis. If they obey simple traffic rules, they will not fall victims of high-handed LASTMA officials.

It is my candid opinion that the government has done what any responsible government should do by curbing the activities of these nuisances while working to improve the state of the roads and I hope that Governor Fashola will not succumb to this blackmail.

I can boldly compare this car with a toyota and a honda because i have used up to about 4 brands of cars within the last 7 years(toyota inclusive) and I know that it can stand with its head high.

As per your offer of 850, i will say NO.
Olukunle, I STRONGLY agree with you. Having used Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi, I concur with Olukunle that Mits are as good as Hondas and Toyotas. The latter names are just overhyped by Nigerians. I hope you get a good deal for her.

Politics › Re: Yar'adua Seeks End To Immunity For Leaders by Reptyle(m): 12:58pm On Dec 11, 2008
Sky Blue:
This removal of immunity might just turn out to be a disaster in the making if correct steps aren't put in place to make sure that such a change won't render the government innactive due to dealing with various law suits etc. The real problem is how serious the government is about actually fighting corruption. Delayed justice or no justice at all has become the norm in Nigeria. It is approaching two years now and the president of the federal republic of Nigeria is still facing court charges. Adedibu had to die of natural causes after living to a ripe old age and that to some was "justice", no ex governor or minister, etc is in jail today after what happened in the last administration that was marked by some of the worst abuses of the constitution when taken into consideration that it was meant to be a "democractic" government. So who is being punished?

This stinks of desperation and eagerness to gain cheap points by pandering to populist views and it also seems to be the apex of cowardice. You want people in the current government to "behave themselves" then simple, make scape goats out of the last offenders. Let it be known that nonsense will not be tolerated and will not go unpunished. Just a simple measure of creating and instilling a system that enforces the law. Nigeria would not be anywhere as bad if the current laws are enforced. However as has been the case of succesive administrations, just to be seen as "doing something" as opposed to a simple case of all motion and no movement, the law as opposed to the breakers of the law would be made the problem and the scape goat. Is such a fundamental change in law actually suppossed to cover the fact that Yar Adua has not really done anything worthy of note since he got into power? Then attacking the state of education? How much money and investment has been pumped into the educational sector how much of this money has actually been used to develop the educational sector as well as pretty much all other sectors? So how can the federal government now lament at the state of the educational sector? WHAT AUDACITY! Are people actually going to be deceived by this trite?
My sentiments exactly!!!!

naijacutee:
Yar'Adua is not out of his mind. It is still normal/ok/possible to at least want to put an end to corruption.
I agree with you that Yaradull is not out of his mind. My point is that you cannot claim you are fighting corruption while you continue to hob-nob with the vanguards of corruption from our very recent past.
Politics › Re: Yar'adua Seeks End To Immunity For Leaders by Reptyle(m): 12:05pm On Dec 11, 2008
Yaradull is just flying a kite, a dangerous one at that. He knows his fellow politicians will never allow such a proposal see the light of day. He is doing this with a view to shoring up his anti-corruption credentials which has been stained in recent times.

The ploy is to fly the kite, have it shot down by his ilk in the House of Assembly and then he can go to town grand standing and claiming he is the goody two shoes.

Any government that continues to fraternize with the likes of Ibori, Orji Kalu, Odili and the rest of them can never, and I repeat, NEVER claim to be serious about the fight against corruption.

Rather than struggle to remove the gargantuan obstacle of constitutional immunity, this JOKE called Yaradull should start by ensuring that those who in the past hid behind the cloak of immunity to rob the country blind are brought to book, now that they no longer enjoy that protection!!!!

I heard there was a disagreement between the owners of the TV station and Global Plus Media(Global something sha, ) who leased the network for five years, over the terms of business. So the owner, Senator Mike Ajaegbo shut down transmission until the grey areas are sorted out. Global Plus Media is owned by Christ Embassy.

Obscurity!!!! That's what you get when you waste those wonderful voices and harmony on songs like Iya Basira and release an album whose hit track is "4 Years" sad sad

If this guys want to make any impact on the present Nigerian music scene, they need to buy songs because it is obvious that song writing is not their forte.

I think they will each do better individually. Just take a look at Plantation Boiz.

Noooo!!! The thing no lost o!!!! We know its out there in space, we just don't know where, grin grin grin

But seriously, like some other people have stated earlier, technologies can malfunction and the Nigerian satellite is no exception.
From the government's responses so far, I gather that the satellite and the entire project was insured so it is not a total loss.
Nigeria cannot afford to be left behind in this forward moving world and 1 failed satellite project shouldn't sound the death knell for future experiments.

Tuface's award (best selling naija artist) was presented to him at the pre-award party even though he was at the main show itself. Nuff respect to Tu but dat one na arrangee award by DAAR as far as I am concerned.

Then dat fool called Kelly Hansome went on stage at the pre-award show singing that his retarded joint "Mugu don pay" and otherwise responsible folks like Chief and Mrs. Dopkesi and Kenny and D1 were dancing and singing along to the trash, It was so damn embarassing.

Overall, AIT's coverage of the event was ridiculously poor. I hope they will improve next year since they claim they have the broadcast rights for the next five years.
